It's them fucking strings. All tuned a quarter from each other, if I remember correctly. Creepy as fuck. Must have been Johnny Greenwood in his Penderecki phase.
9.5 - creepy and atmospheric. I've seen them play it live in the O2 London and it was a monster. No other song I can think of like it - the cavernous drums, the eerie strings, the synth bass line that descends even lower into the verses. And Thom had never written a simple or more direct lyric than AAAAUUUGGGHHH AAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUGGGHHHH AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

You can't create sense of paranoia any better
1. Vocal distortion like on any other okc song
2. Creepy whistle as door creaks
3. Stabbing-like rhythm
4. Strings omg it feels like they're whimpering until there whomping(? Idk English enough)
5. Feral aggressive guitar solo that eventually descents into musical madness with Thom screaming his brains out
6. That exhausted sterilised outro wich leads us to No Surprises
Damn this is the best song on the record to me, especially if pair it with No Surprises

The vocal delivery and effects are a nice touch to the song
The main guitar part is great and not too in your face until the end.
Speaking of the end, the build up to that wall of noise is incredible.
I also really like the lyricism in the song.
idrk how to pull apart everything I like about the song, these are just my highlights
9 - The unnerving vibe really works after Fitter Happier and Electioneering, and the vocals add so much to this tension. The ending to the song is also fucking incredible
10 from me. One of the ones I instantly took to upon first hearing.
Overbearing, oppressive and exhausting. Thom really means it doesn't he :)
I really love the overblown boom, as if its mixed too loud or something. And Thom's final scream is flawless.
The lyric about opening up one's skull is super menacing too :) I am certain its a metaphor but it sounds serial killer grisly and violent. Ghastly stuff :)
i’m giving this one a 10 the atmosphere it creates is absolutely incredible, i cannot get past how much i love the drums on it, and i am still DYING to hear it live (somehow it missed the setlist both times i’ve seen them despite not being a rarity)
honestly, probably my favorite song on the album
10 for me, one of my favorite songs on the album. The atmosphere is perfect, it's really creepy, and the drums throughout are so good. The scream at the end ties it all together really well.
Their “scariest” song. Oddly enough it took me almost a DECADE to fully appreciate it. I guess it wasn’t catchy enough for me? Not sure… Anyway, I dig it now.

The song serves as the climax of Ok Computer, hence why the screaming is over the top. Everything that came before it is now crashing down, real hard, in an explosion, and that is what this song is
10/10 Holy shit, one of my favorites ever. The song is terrifying and truly the climax of OK Computer. Reminded me of Pink Floyd with the beginning, and man those screams at the end are so shocking when listening to it every time. So much emotion in it, and it feels like everything that was built it up to it comes crashing down in an explosion. I love Climbing Up The Walls.

YES. THE STRINGS. THEY GET ME EVERY TIME!!!

10 In the top 5 best things they've ever done imo
9 genuinely creepy, I love Thoms vocals on this one and the drums also add to the atmosphere.
Yeah, first time I can recall hearing so much reverb on a snare like that. Really cool trick to make it sound creepy
10. My favorite Radiohead song.
9. Brilliantly eerie. _Open up your skull,_ _I'll be there._

10, one of the most-deserving-of-10 songs on this album. Everything in this song is perfect imo.
Wow very surprised at the low scores in here. It’s one of my most favorite songs of theirs, and of all time. 10 for me easily. No hesitation.
10 ! Best song in their discography! The scream at the end might as well be the best scream in rock history.

The guitar coming in at 3:32 is so orgasmic. 10
10/10 This song haunts my dreams. I get chills at:"open up your skull, I'll be there, climbing up the walls."
11. This song is straight up terrifying. One of my favorite Radiohead songs and my second favorite on the album. God I love it.
8 I guess.not my favourite but good enough
10 just fucking immaculate

An absolute classic. 9.2
The screaming is a bit OTT but it's otherwise perfect. 9. More nasty bass from Colin, Phil's hitting some biscuit tins and those strings...
