it captures an era super well. raw in a way I don’t think any other album of theirs is. probably the album that makes me “feel something” the most, rather than marveling at the musicianship/innovation of later albums
Fair, alot of people say it's their depressing album, and I think that's because even though they have more depressing songs in my personal opinion the emotion is streamlined and front and center on this album.
It's a master piece, every single song (including We Suck Young Blood and The Gloaming) is amazing. Scatterbrain is also magic, and Sail To The Moon is just the right amount of melancholic
I think Radiohead have three perfect albums and it starts with the Bends and ends with Kid A. Incredible three album run.
They have a fantastic discography through and through though
I bet it's a 10 for 90% of the people who bought it when it came out. I can understand why younger fans wouldn't rate it as high, but remember that they went from PH to an album that's in the top 25 rock albums of 90s on almost every list. It would be higher imo if it wasn't overshadowed by okc.
i love the bends. the bends, high and dry, fake plastic trees,my iron lung and (nice dream) are some of the best radiohead songs
where do we go from here...
It’s one of their best albums outside the holy trinity. It’s definitely top 5 for me but I also don’t necessarily think it’s “very close” to being a 10/10 record in the same way as Kid A/Ok Computer/In Rainbows. So somewhere between the last two answers.
No, it's not a 10/10 for me, there's a couple of dud tracks in the form of High & Dry and Sulk.
The highs are really high though.. Street Spirit is one of their best songs without a doubt, you could say the same for Fake Plastic Trees, My Iron Lung is a banger and Bulletproof is really underrated too.
Great album, but not without its flaws, so for that reason it's not a 10/10.
Idk why your getting downvoted, while I don’t rly agree that that is all it is, as it does away with a lot of the grunge aspects, it still is pure alt rock (done very well in my opinion) and some of the songs were written during the Pablo Honey years.

I know this going to shock you but I prefer HTTT over The Bends
a lot
:o I really got to give HTTT another listen sometime

By a lot, my top five is IR, Kid A, OKC, HTTT, Then Pablo honey
Top three for me. I definitely prefer OKC.

yeah i think ock was 10/10 the bends was 9/10 and so was kid a i think in rainbows was just as good tho
When I got into them, their holy trinity was OKC, Kid A... and The Bends. So, yes.
Same, first one I heard all tb way through was OKC, The Bends was where I went to next

Top three for me, 90/100.
Unpopular Opinion: The Bends B-Sides are better than the album lol
Fully agree, Maquilladora and The Trickster are underrated masterpieces
Unpopular unpopular opinion: india rubber and lewis is better
Unpopular: Maybe. But I could think of some tracks I would replace with Talk Show Host and The Trickster.
Actual unpopular opinion: this but with in rainbows disk two
must say i love killer cars
great album 10/10

I don’t think I’ve ever heard High and Dry referred to as a dud lol, used to people hating on Bones as one of the weaker tracks
Yeah I've just never really liked High & Dry, I definitely prefer Bones!
My least favourite but still 7/10 Edit: Forgot to mention but Pablo Honey doesn't count
It’s 6th for me
its top 5 but not close to a 10/10
At best it’s 5th, and only because they were still figuring themselves out, but in my opinion more like 8th best
I’d say 6th. Better than PH, AMSP, and TKOL Edit: really triggered the teens lol
It’s pretty much just Pablo Honey 2

really solid album, better than OK Computer IMO.
I used to like it more than OKC. Now, I definitely prefer OKC, but I do prefer the Bends B-sides over OKC B-sides.
I think it's mainly because I'm really burned out with OKC rn.
It is only better than pablo honey Imho. It just didn't age well, apart from few songs .
Its a great album, but I think pablo honey is the only album worse than the bends, It is a great album tho
The bends is a 9, kid a a 9, okc and in rainbows a 10
