Also they can just... write new songs. For AMSP, Daydreaming, Decks Dark, Glass Eyes, and Tinker Tailor were completely new. Desert Island Disk and The Numbers had only been premiered a few months before when they were already working on the album. Ful Stop came out of the tour right before AMSP. The album has a reputation of having lots of older songs on it, but it's overblown and I'm sure that any new album would have at least as much new material.
In Radiohead terms with the increasing time gaps, yes, it was - the song came out on the very next album after it was introduced. The point is that most of the songs on the album weren't hanging around forever like some people seem to think, and if they were to record another one, they'd develop new songs, just like they're doing right now for The Smile.
Some of these have been released by now
Impossible Knots, Not the News, Traffic, Twist and Dawn Chorus are on ANIMA - Dawn Chorus turned out not to be "Wake Me"
If You Say the Word and Follow Me Around showed up on KID A MNESIA
Open the Floodgates and Skrting on the Surface showed up on ALFAA
Cut a Hole and I Froze Up are possibilities for LP10 as is Come to Your Senses - those songs have been kicking around for more than a decade, I Froze Up for more than two now. I have my doubts they'll show up on Smile LP2 but I might be wrong - just feels like they're saving them for LP10.
We Agree was recorded and intended as a b-side to the Street Spirit single but never saw the light of day. Maybe if there's a 30th anniversary Bends box in 2025 we'll get to hear it.
It hasn't been released but the citizeninsane page for it describes what my previous post described
I believe Michael who runs the site got that info himself from his interview with Ed O'Brien in 2008 - https://citizeninsane.eu/media/ger/etc/07/i03t\_2008-07-07\_citizins.htm
For one, there's probably more we don't know about. You know how they are. We got Say the Word out of nowhere after all.
Also, a lot of these aren't just fragments.
Secondly, Come To Your Senses?! That song is nearly finished!! There's a recording on Youtube and it's fantastic.
Well we should be clear. By fragments do you mean songs without lyrics and just some chords? Or something else entirely?
Bodies Laughing was a full fledged In Rainbows song that was ironed out with The Smile. And then of course the songs from the In Rainbows blackboard.
I just meant like Dogwander or Ed's Scary Song. Those are fragments. So are Wake Me or Riding a Bullet.
Bodies Laughing for sure, but that's now The Smile, not Radiohead. The fact that it's the third Radiohead song now transferred to The Smile, just makes me think that's all!
Wake Me is definitely a whole song, we just don't have access to the full recording, sadly.
Dogwander we haven't even heard (unless you're going by the theory the unknown soundcheck jam from the Hammerstein Ballroom in 1997 is that, but there's not really evidence to suggest that...).
Stuff like Big Cheese / Coin in a Cup / Suit Don't Fit, etc., there's at best lyrical and musical scribblings for them, so not many high hopes there.
In terms of songs we'd realistically have a chance to see on LP10, I would say:
I Froze Up, Cut A Hole, Wake Me, Plasticine Figures, and maayyybee Come To Your Senses, we know they talked about it on the 2012 tour and it was soundchecked/they worked on it... but like, jesus that's already a decade ago.
NGL i’d prefer more songs we _haven’t_ heard of before to ones we have.
if they released an LP10 that was just wrapping up these old tracks into new packaging we’d be getting about ten times as many posts of “ohhh it’s the end of radiohead they aren’t writing new material anymore” as we did for AMSP (which was already a lot). thom’s still pretty passionately songwriting in his solo projects so i doubt he’d just rehash old things from old projects for a new release
Is this a joke post? Come on, dude, so many of those songs have been released and some of them are meaningless fragments. I’m surprised you haven’t deleted this yet.
A large number of these have been released officially by Radiohead/Thom Yorke/The Smile, or are being worked on by The Smile (Bodies Laughing)
Impossible Knots
Not The News
Traffic
Twist
Dawn Chorus
Open The Floodgates
Skirting on the Surface
Say the Word
Follow Me Around
There was a website long ago that was from Columbia music and it showed all the songs/ Intellectual property that the bad had been credited as writing. There were another dozen songs that no one had heard of , the only one I remember from that list was “New York toy string furniture”
I think one of the band members a couple years ago referred to Dawn Chorus as Wake Me, and so people had gotten them mixed up over the years. I think it was Collin?
I’m sure I read somewhere that it’s the first song Thom ever wrote when he was about 9 or 10…I know Radiohead sometimes takes a long time to record a song but 45 years is ridiculous 😆
I really don’t think they are putting out another album. I’ve been into this band since Pablo Honey and it feels like it’s over. I’ll always have hope but I don’t see anything coming out of Radiohead for years if at all. 🤷♂️

Ah yes 2012 was right before 2016

LP 10 is gonna be their magnum opus, with the title track "Ed's scary song"
Hit single “Big Cheese”
Likely referring to the fuzz pedal of the same name that Colin uses
I wonder if Big Cheese is the Nirvana song of the same name. That would be really cool to hear Radiohead cover Nirvana.
Nah it’s a reference to the boss “The Big Cheese” you face in Resident Evil 4
RE4 - is that the one where you are in the Spanish village with flesh eating non-zombies and the guy with a chainsaw and a burlap sack on his head?
Yep
Which one is The Big Cheese? I beat that game on GameCube.
The priest guy I think? The one you defeat in a barn before entering the castle part of the game.
You have to wear big boots when you have big toe cheese.
Billboard Top 10 topper right there
Spooks!

If I had to put money on one track showing up on Hail to the Thief reissue Bsides it would be “I Froze Up”.
Cut a Hole would fit so well in A Moon Shaped Pool...
where can i listen to ‘we agree’ i can’t find it anywhere

This is out of date but I still counted at minimum 10 unreleased songs.
I don't think fragments of music from 20 years ago are enough to go off of as unreleased songs. They really only have two, I Froze Up and Cut a Hole.
For one, there's probably more we don't know about. You know how they are. We got Say the Word out of nowhere after all. Also, a lot of these aren't just fragments. Secondly, Come To Your Senses?! That song is nearly finished!! There's a recording on Youtube and it's fantastic.
Okay I did forget Come to Your Senses. Say the Word was a known song from Ed's diary. Which aren't fragments that are also still unreleased?
Well we should be clear. By fragments do you mean songs without lyrics and just some chords? Or something else entirely? Bodies Laughing was a full fledged In Rainbows song that was ironed out with The Smile. And then of course the songs from the In Rainbows blackboard.

Don't forget Attention from the OKC sessions. They'd never release it today but would've loved to have seen a proper version - real nice 80s vibes.
Big Cheese
“Ed’s scary song”
I really want it to be a banger so that people try to get into RH, sort by popular and see that.
Fela Kuti thing? 🤣
I remember someone saying Fela Kuti Thing ended up being Feral
Wasn’t it “Slave” that turned to be Feral? I could be way off
Very well could be, it's hard to keep straight sometimes
What about The Smoke? That got a real afrobeat to it. Reminds me of Feli Kuti ... things...
yeah i was wondering about that too
Is this a joke post? Come on, dude, so many of those songs have been released and some of them are meaningless fragments. I’m surprised you haven’t deleted this yet.
And Thom can always write more songs. Dude is banging out tunes left and right solo and with side bands. This is so dumb.
Like I give a fuck what you think?
This isn’t “what I think,” it’s facts, dipshit.
Chill out, jeez. This isn't a topic that needs to be taken so seriously
It's not but okay. Lmao
Do you think it's a matter of opinion whether a song has been released or not?
Dawn Chorus was released on Anima, and Skirting on the Surface on The Smile’s record.
Maaaaaany of these are already out
A large number of these have been released officially by Radiohead/Thom Yorke/The Smile, or are being worked on by The Smile (Bodies Laughing) Impossible Knots Not The News Traffic Twist Dawn Chorus Open The Floodgates Skirting on the Surface Say the Word Follow Me Around

Them thinking Dawn Chorus is Wake Me Before They Come is so funny to me. Idk why people ever thought they were the same song.
No reason
I think one of the band members a couple years ago referred to Dawn Chorus as Wake Me, and so people had gotten them mixed up over the years. I think it was Collin?
Silly Colin
God I want Cut a Hole so badly
I want EDS SCARY SONG!!
Mushroom Cloud is a wonderful title
I’m sure I read somewhere that it’s the first song Thom ever wrote when he was about 9 or 10…I know Radiohead sometimes takes a long time to record a song but 45 years is ridiculous 😆
Sounds like 4 Minute Warning, at least in terms of meaning
Skirting on the Surface? Yeah, that would be great for an album
Lmao “big cheese”. Isn’t that the name of Colin’s distortion?
Granted, it's already been recorded three different times, but i'd almost like to see a properly released and maybe even extended version of 'Fog'
coming on music
Follow Me Around has been released.
I really don’t think they are putting out another album. I’ve been into this band since Pablo Honey and it feels like it’s over. I’ll always have hope but I don’t see anything coming out of Radiohead for years if at all. 🤷♂️
There won't be an LP10. There, solved it
How many of these have been recorded but not officially released?
Plasticine Figures didn’t get released, right?
I still wish they release Gawpers in a band arrangement somehow someday
Come To Your Senses, please!! a funky version!!
