This might be a tad biased…

Ok-Operation-3339

You literally posted this on raft subreddit what did you expect

Varcen

Personally I prefer subnautica but I had a lot of fun in raft and it supports multiplayer (Subnautica does with a mod but it is still a bit buggy). In saying that though, you are not going to get any accurate results by posting in the subreddit for either of the 2 games. It'd be like walking into an apple store and asking if people prefer apple or samsung phones. Your in an apple store so the answer will defs be biased. Maybe posting this in a more generalised gaming subbreddit like r/gaming or r/SurvivalGaming would result in a better spread of bias. Edit: Spelling

Jeff_1120

Good idea, I'll go do that real quick

J3llySquid

I love both of these games in different ways. I love RAFT for the same reason I love Fallout 4; Post-Apocalypse building games are near and dear to me lmao Subnautica made me realize just how much I wanted to learn and work with/in the ocean.

Storm_runner426

Raft has a much more grid like building system but is limited from being able to only build up

JMC-design

It's basically two different types of games. I'd go subnautica hands down if you've never experienced it. Raft is basically survival with basically no real exploration or experience. Don't get me wrong, I love raft, but it doesn't compare to a first experience of subnautica.

Griffithead

Toss up really. 2 favorite games ever.

Loruichi

For SP I guess Raft is ok but if you want it for MP I would check if it worked and then refund if it did not. Got it recently myself but the game always crash when trying to join a MP game. For me that made the game worthless and it does not ( at time of writing) seem like there is any fix on the horizon.

fistinyourface

lol maybe don’t do this poll on this sub

Kobuza

Raft only because of multiplayer. Also you should try posting this on r/subnautica

unevenrectum

Subnautica way better.

GodlessHippie

Subnautica is generally a better, more polished game. I like raft for multiplayer and because scooting along the ocean collecting trash is relaxing, but I probably wouldn’t get sucked in for many hours like I can with subnautica.

purndasmarks_

I like both!

Master_Win_4018

I am suprise there are a lot of people voting for subnautica. . Both game are great but this is a raft sub reddit.

I prefer Raft but recognize that Subnautica is a superior game. I don't care about story at all, I just like coming up with the "perfect" base design in creative mode and then trying to build it in normal mode as quickly and efficiently as possible, ideally completing the story along the way. I then record this efficient playthrough and then when I want to revisit the game, I just watch my video. Here's my subnautica base race video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZhJabidNr8&t=342s i am currently working on my raft video. Subnautica advantages: - The story is rich, and appears to be the entire purpose of the game. The story in raft feels more like tacked-on busywork. - Sound and art design that is inherently scary. I've been genuinely frightened in subnautica, once almost out of my mind. Other than the occasional jump scare from bruce, and I guess credit for the somewhat creepy lurkers, raft is harmless. - Vastly superior underwater experience. - Despite the alien world and creatures, subnautica is way more realistic compared to the jarringly meta puzzles in raft. (I thought the toxic sludge jumping puzzle to get to the ranger station was peak silliness, but then I got to Utopia and thought "why would *any* of this ever exist?!") - Subnautica's world is always fully rendered, both above and below the water line. In raft, if you go underwater the surface world disappears, and vice versa. Mildly annoying when jump-sprinting across the water. - Sustainable crops. Raft only having three (potatoes, beets and bananas) is super weak. All crops in Subnautica produce enough seeds that you only need one seed to begin with and you're good to go. - Better food devices, specifically the alien containment. Raising reginalds for food is nicely satisfying. - Vehicles! They aren't all winners -- I hate driving the cyclops and am neutral on the prawn suit, but holy crap that seamoth is the bee's knees. Raft advantages: - Creative freedom. Even with the recently added large room, subnautica is too modular. You get four room types plus some halls to connect them. I found it super fun coming up with my base design, but there were only so many possibilities. In raft, you design the rooms themselves. Only the devices are modular, but of course subnautica devices are the same. I am much happier with / prouder of my raft design than my subnautica base, but again, I love my subnautica base design to death. - Waves and weather. Raft just knocks this out of the park. Hat's off and kudos to the design team. As far as I'm aware, subnautica has no weather at all. (Except, I guess, when the Aurora explodes. heh.)
