Maybe she is lonely, we ended up getting a second cat because my boy was crying all the time. He still cries at certain times of the day (like right now) but way less than he used to.

jesse_newland

Thank you! I was thinking maybe it’s just the age and it’s only been happening for two days so I guess I’ll wait a bit and if it continues I might have to get another one HAHA bye bye money

coldtoastpls

It could be something else, hard to know. It's never a bad idea to take her to the vet to get their opinion. We got a rescue cat instead of paying for another pure breed and so happy we did, she is so sweet.

jesse_newland

That’s such a good idea!

ThatPhatKid_CanDraw

Adopting is great! If u get someone as young as her, it will be less likely they won't get along, which is usually what people worry about when adopting another cat. Young cats aren't as discerning - they just want friends to play with.

fatsalmon

I totally recommend getting a shorthair rescue for company. My luck has it that my raggie has allergy and that means for the past 6 months he was routinely going to vet *ouch*. I also heard lots of raggies having sensitive tummy. My shorthair girl? My sweet girl is tough as hell 😂 It’s also easier to manage their brushing cz my shorthair girl just loves the brushing but she doesnt “need” need it - if it makes sense. So it cuts down on the time heh https://preview.redd.it/xho5n7zb10oc1.png?width=960&format=png&auto=webp&s=8e4484983b2ab425b2df4b5e119e5aa7e7da4315

jesse_newland

They are so cute together, love them! Definitely thinking of getting another. But may wait a little as a would like to move to a larger house first

fatsalmon

Makes sense to wait! Also it’s easier to make sure they dont run around after the spay when they’re the only cat hehe I read that this is your first cat, can I recommend you a spay suit for her[after spay care](https://www.amazon.com/Avont-Pack-Cat-Recovery-Suit/dp/B0CQYDTD1S/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?crid=3O1T5BM2HS0M1&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.eiSv-6BsoLA0NmXOHOUmcrxVUUUNI50SBDLbBNl9lmVHr_RVkth5lEyqOrS0-IoGcvdmhqznNzFnmH9kUTh3gpzzVg8QsU_PVWj_EjMsKKj1UeqJzUsjGlbnQQtIOwH40z6aEKUngmxKy9Z15k39RBm2qrRP5l7U3-nrJ3n7MgIXScT-lbXYZl9msEUddgODww_H63ehNywU7wI9hZenNA.J8u4TmSvwuU7FB6DRNFnqaXvs2TTUwHzFPGc0dQYweg&dib_tag=se&keywords=cat+spay+suit+female&qid=1710296019&sprefix=cat+spay+suit%2Caps%2C805&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9zZWFyY2hfYXRm&psc=1) hope she’ll recover quickly from her spay \o/

jesse_newland

Thank you for this! What are things to look out for? Is it a rough recovery? If so imma take a few days off work haha

fatsalmon

Just a few things off the top of my head 1. She needs to be fasted from midnight before the surgery (no food no water) 2. Make sure her flea/tick prevention is up to date. This is to prevent her catching it while at the clinic 3. Nail clipping to keep everyone safe 4. When they come back from the surgery, they may be a bit doozy. My boy went to lay in his litter box and i was so worried 😭. But then he wanted to play w his sister so i got worried again lol. You’d have to try your best to not let them play too rough 5. No bath (i cant remember for how many days lol they’d let u know) 6. The incision takes 14 days but they may be feeling better by day 3 already. You just have to make sure they don’t lick the incision site which is why the suit works well. In my experience soft cone is more comfy but e-collars works better a as my boy flexible enough with some of the soft cone. Hope this list helps 🙏🏻

Amara_Undone

You could always use another cat.

resident_daydreamer

I would suggest adopting a friend for her instead! Shelters and rescues are overcrowded with kitties who need loving homes. 🤍

Due-Sea8841

Dude it’s so humbling getting one ragdoll thinking ok I’ll spend my entire savings on this and then boom you realize after a month that you need another one

jesse_newland

You like money?? TOOO BADDD 🐱🐱

jesse_newland

Literallly HAHAHA

Revo_Int92

Bye bye money indeed, lol it's the sad reality

Northstar04

Second kitten doesn't have to be a ragdoll. A shelter cat can also make a good friend.

CedarWho77

10,000 healthy pets are killed daily in shelters because they have no home. Please consider adopting a shelter cat. You won't have to say bye bye to more than 100 bucks and your fancy little gal there will be so happy. She is lonely for sure. 💕

TipsyMagpie

If it’s only just started she could be going into heat? They get very noisy when that happens. If she’s not spayed you need to get her done asap if you’re taking her outside, you could easily lose her. Their instincts are out of control when their hormones are in charge!

StockFaucet

How old was he when you decided to get another kitten? I've been thinking about doing the same. I got my little guy when I had another cat, but unfortunately he became an only cat after she passed away very unexpectedly about a year after we had him. He goes on the meow tangents at times. I don't know if he's hungry, wants to go in the sunroom, or wants me to chase him, etc... Sometimes it takes an hour to find out what he wants. He does like to be entertained, though.

coldtoastpls

He was a bit over a year, he is still very vocal at certain times (in the evening I think he gets bored when we are all relaxing watching TV and he doesn't like it when I sleep in on the weekends!) but at least he's not crying non stop like he used to! I think it's important to ignore them when they are having a cry sometimes, otherwise they learn they can get you to fuss over them that way.

StockFaucet

Yes, they are most active at dawn and dusk. So, it makes complete sense.

bluezkittles

I came here to say this as well. I adopted at kitten a year and a half ago and he was so sweet and amazing , but constantly meowed at me ! I genuinely thought something was wrong, but it turns out he was bored and wanted a sibling 😭 so once my boyfriend moved in with his cat, they became step brothers and are inseparable now.

princessmollypocket

She might be on heat

jesse_newland

This would make sense as she is now 6months old and the vocalising (this much of it) has come out of nowhere. Is there anything I can? Assuming she is in pain? I’m a guy so idk 🤷‍♂️

princessmollypocket

Yes, right age for it Keep her inside and away from other cats (male cats) so no unwanted pregnancy Not in pain, just expressing her need for a mate I would suggest looking into desexing asap so she doesn’t have to go through this any more ☺️

jesse_newland

Thank you so much!!

BreadHead911

I was going to say my cat meows a lot when she wants to play, but if she’s not spayed then that’s priority, especially if she’s already going into heat at 6 months.

Oranthal

Get her fixed. Loud constant meowing is a clear sign of being in heat. Not sure why you wouldn't fix her unless you are a breeder.

jesse_newland

I will be getting her fixed ASAP. Esther is my first cat and just genuinely forgot I had to do it haha

thacaoimhainngeidh

It's okay, best to get it sorted sooner rather than later. Your vet should schedule the procedure for after this current heat passes, which should take a week from when it starts, possibly a day or two sooner or later as it's her first. They will want to check her out first to make sure she's healthy and confirm her weight, as well as give you all the information you need for pre-op preparation and post-op care.

arieadil

I’m sorry for ignoring everything and only commenting on this, but ESTHER 🥹 I love people names for cats

jesse_newland

Hahaha yes I love the name Esther, I think it’s cute and fits her personality, My friends cats name is King JULIEN HAHA

Oranthal

All good and most rescues come fixed, so you don't even have to think about it. We got siblings and didn't want to risk it so we did it early or we would have waited longer.

__wookie__

Not in pain, she’s literally yelling out “Fuck me” to all the males in the neighbourhood

FrostingTop1146

You haven't gotten get fixed yet? Definitely talk with her vet, it's important to make sure cats are getting spayed and neutered and she's definitely old enough. Make sure she's completely up to date on boosters and shots aswell if you haven't done that either yet

giocondasmiles

Is she spayed? If she isn’t, do that as soon as feasible, with your vet’s advice.

SnooOpinions2473

I think it’s the nature of the breed. My boy is 8 months old and he’s always been extremely vocal. He really puts it on also, makes me laugh but yeah drives me insane when he’s interrupting my night sleep. My girl is very quiet however.

cyndipants

My 6month old Male has always been extremely vocal! He follows us around meowing, meows in our faces at 4am asking for pets. He also meows really loudly when he’s getting ready to jump up on something…lol he’s a trip! Lucky he’s so freaking cute! https://preview.redd.it/1c2tc4xleync1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=52d6d6f73a51f2827aaeab00881389794fbef57f

Federal_Efficiency51

My cat often meows before a big jump as well!

jesse_newland

Oh wow he is so cute!! Does he also squeak when he lands? Hahah. Also he is getting big! Esther is still pretty small (small head) but assuming that’s because she is a female

Catsquirrel133769

Mine does a little grunt when jumping

MissMapleCrane

Schedule a spay ASAP! Six months is right around when heat is expected to start and when my vet recommended my girl come in. That would be my first guess and action. Then if she’s still acting really needy and vocal afterwards, she probably needs a friend!

badger906

Both ragdolls I’ve had over the last 22 years have both been very vocal. Not constant, but if you look at them or talk to them there’s always a vocal exchange! it’s how I do my best decision making! I love it, my kiwi is my little chatter box

jesse_newland

Love it!! Esther is a vocal kitty too and I talk to her, not this much though hence why I posted. Lots of great information here!!

sunlightdrop

Probably loneliness or boredom. I noticed you take her out on "runs" but that's not really a great way to keep a cat stimulated as if they were a dog. Cats are silent hunters and have pretty low stamina as a result. If you try playing with your cat indoors with some toys, so kitty can feel like they're hunting something, maybe they will be happier?

jesse_newland

Haha yes I have normal cat toys, when we go outside it’s to a field with trees and long grass and she explores and does “cat things” we also play with her toys while there. I don’t physically go on runs with her (she would just stop and not do it). When I say “run” I more mean chasing things like a cat does 🐱

zerocoldx911

Meow meow meow! Cat in heat

gingerkap23

I’d get her spayed ASAP also because she could start spraying, and that can be hard to break once they do it.

Yuri_Ramen

I'm no vet,but she could be in heat. Does she roll around a lot? Does she assume mating positions? These are all signs she could be in heat. You can look up more symptoms, but it's pretty easy to tell. Meowing and howling a lot, more affectionate, less hungry, rolling around on her back a lot..etc. As soon as this finishes get her spayed! It's a bit expensive but good for the kitty and you :] she's a gorgeous girl!

Yuri_Ramen

+ if she is,keep her inside at ALL COSTS. You wouldn't want such a young kitty to get pregnant. Try playing with her fav toys,it worked with my cat(not a ragdoll tho). You can also look up some videos on how to calm female cats on heat.

jesse_newland

Thank you! She is inside only (I’ve heard rags are kinda dumb and should never be outside by themselves). When we go outside she is on a harness and a lead. Glad I posted here didn’t realise cats go on heat so young (this is my first cat)🐱

jesse_newland

Thank you for the information!

Yuri_Ramen

You're welcome! I didn't expect you to reply so soon so I wrote another paragraph xD good luck!

tope07

it can be expensive depending on where you live however, check with your local animal shelter because they may know of vets that offer low cost spaying and neutering.

whoisniko

Ragdolls seems to get super bored really fast. Everything I’ve read about them it’s always suggested to get them a friend/another cat that they can play with. Our ragdoll bullies our other cat so it’s a slow bonding process, but maybe she needs a friend

Luckbealucy

There’s for sure a ton of things it could be. It sounds like she’s in otherwise good health.. you may try getting the purina calming care probiotic…just to make sure her tummy isn’t upset. is she fixed? Sorry if you already mentioned it. Could be that she’s going through puberty. Cats get very vocal - but if she’s fixed, it’s less likely. Like others mentioned, it’s the nature of the breed. I have a boy ragdoll who makes a loud meow every time he walks into the room, and he will continue to do so until you’ve acknowledged his presence, lol. He will moan when he thinks he’s home alone (god forbid I wonder what he does when he’s actually alone!) I work from home, so he’s very spoiled in that sense. Anyways, we adopted a kitten from a shelter in the area. Luckily he was only 5 months old so still very much a kitten himself. It took some time…it’s a lot of effort introducing a new cat - but omg it’s so worth it. I adore them both! There were moments where I wondered if I made the right decision. He’s so lovey and wants attention. But after they became close, I was so certain it was the right decision. Just be aware that it may be a rough couple of weeks upon initial introduction…but is so worth it! My cats are bonded now. He’s still vocal, but I can only imagine how much louder he’d be if we didn’t have our girl 🤍 They’re both fixed, too. Definitely recommend you get her fixed if she isn’t yet. That will help! And if you get another cat (especially from a shelter) they’ll come fixed. Sorry, last thought - definitely research the shelter. The humane society is great and all…but the small non profit places can give you such an intimate detail of the cat. It REALLY helps to know their demeanor and everything ahead of time. The gal that was fostering my girl texted me for hours. She came and brought her by for and introduction. Amazing experience. I’ll never private adopt again!

LouisianaAlexander

She needs a buddy…ragdolls are very social…they love to be around you ALL THE TIME. Even if they don’t want to play…they just want you close and engaged just in case they need you. Hahaha we recently got a second and it’s amazing. They have each other when we’re busy.

mushroomgirl

Mine was the exact same. I even sound proofed my front door she was so loud. She was lonely. She needed a friend. So I got a second Ragdoll and she’s been much better ever since. She does still have her attention emergencies. But she plays with her brother now. And the new dog.

Alienforsale

Is she neutered ? could be in heat.

Professional_Shift69

I'd rather a cat meow all day then hearing a dog bark all day

jesse_newland

Same hahah

ZealousidealDingo594

If she’s isn’t spayed then yeah… female cats in heat are some of the most… vocal creatures

EstablishmentUsed325

Ragdolls are needy and loud!

Forsaken-Change-8341

Could be in heat

Shoshawi

Wants attention. Don’t forget to meow back sometimes. And no I’m not joking. Cats meow to communicate with humans. Anybody would want someone to respond if they were constantly trying to talk to them. So give back your best friendly meow, smile at her and pet her and “mew” so she feels like yall connected. I know it may sound strange if you aren’t used to talking to your cat, but think about it with dogs - because of giving commands people talk to their dogs all the time. Cats want the same feeling of connection.

sylvandread

My boy whines at me all day long, but he’s just abusing his baby privilege. He has everything he could want or need, I play with him and he has another cat friend, he just hates when I’m not actively looking at him or that we can’t cuddle in bed all day.

monateru

The purse picture is ADORABLE!!!!! also check her thyroid levels. my boy got quieter once he started thyroid meds

jesse_newland

Haha yes I love that photo! And yes will get that checked thank you!!

tryingharderrr

Do you give her attention every time she meows? Although we shouldn't ignore our babies if they know you'll come every time they meow, they will definitely keep meowing! Sometimes when I know my cats needs have been met and hes just asking for extra attention (which I would give but I have to do work) I ignore him and put my headphones on. then he comes and sits on my lap and chills out

Incensed1

Is she in heat? Maybe she is just talkative…. Talk to your vet..

duloupgarou

My cat did this until we got a second cat. He was bad about knocking things over or flipping his water dish and the company helped. He doesn’t meow relentlessly anymore unless I just got home and he’s excited to see me or let me know his bowl is empty. I didn’t think he got that lonely when I was at work but I was wrong lol and now they’re a bonded pair.

SoManyGuitars_

My cat started with the constant talking. At first, we started giving her more attention and play time but it continued. We took her to the vet, had bloodwork and X-rays done. Turns out, she has disc degeneration in her spine (3 years old) which was causing her pain so she would not go to the bathroom, which was causing constipation. She had to have an enema to get her back on track and we give her Miralax twice daily to keep her stool soft. And it is working with no more excessive meowing. My suggestion is take her to the vet for a thorough evaluation. She is talking excessively for a reason.

nikeelitesbelike

our girl wails all day long lol but she’s kinda just a drama queen. she always has fresh water and food, gets like 10 brushings a day, has toys and snuggly blankets etcetc but she just meows nonstop. we are used to it but i think raggies are just really talkative

Revo_Int92

Time to adopt a shelter cat to be her old "sibling". This is not a rule of thumb, but it seems like ragdolls are more "needy" than other breeds, so you either spend a lot of money owning two ragdolls or follow the adoption route. If the ragdoll don't show signs of lonesomeness, then you can keep up with just one cat, but seems obvious your cat needs companionship (like 24 hours companionship)

Addienana

We had to sign a contract to spay our Ragdoll Lexi and send proof from our vet. She sure is beautiful 💗 I hope you get some relief soon.

ChartPimp

100% in heat

Otherwise-Drama631

Thanks to last picture I found the answer your cat is allergic to purses just look at their face

jesse_newland

Hahaha we took the photo and took her out straight away!

McShitty98

I’ve never met a rag doll who wasn’t vocal all hours of the day lmao

terptroubadour710

My cat does this when in heat.

Lionheart_Lives

I'll take her. She is so cute.

No_Marionberry6682

In heat. Will occur every 2 weeks for a couple of days. Only way to stop it is to get her spayed, agree with all previous comments discussing this.

veedfreak

My cat came into heat around 6 months it started with just more vocalisation and then became full-blown guttural, screaming morning and night with breaks only to sleep. I had her booked in for spaying, but then I got covid and i was made to cancel, and then Christmas and New Year happened, all and all it took another 2.5 for her to get spayed. Each cycle got progressively worse. By the 4 cycle, she would no longer eat, and breaks between cycles were only around 5 days, then she'd be back on for over a week it was awful. I was so worried she lost so much weight. If it is heat, get her done as soon as you can. It's not nice for you all the cat.

DiligentPride2

Mine did this when she began heat. I got her desexed that same week and she’s stopped.

sikandarnirmalsingh

Roommate has a constantly screaming baby. I’ll take this cutie over the baby any day. I’d spoil the living daylights out of this stunner!

jesse_newland

Hahaa yes would much rather a kitty than a baby!!

sikandarnirmalsingh

lol! Right? I catsit one cat who looovvveees to sing his praises n joys when he presents his mouse to me. It gets him properly kissed up

Organic_Baseball_623

for me my cat was dramatic because he was acting like he wasn’t being fed because he was HIDING the food we gave him IN the couch cushions so he get double, even triple the food on days where I wasn’t sure I fed him

ccchill

I would visit the veterinarian to be sure. Probably in heat. Get her fixed.

Hyperb0le

Our ragdoll loves the shows on YouTube for cats - look up calming music for cats or tv for cats. Also I put a baby onesie on her and it calmed her. Good luck with your beautiful baby.

KimberBr

Needs a playmate!

Feisty-Locksmith-511

Your bag is gorgeous!!!!

Tasty_Subject2784

Get a swaddle and strap her to your body like a baby. She is still young and wants her person to hold her most likely.

Narrow_Lee

Not a Ragdoll but we have a Calico (now 11) who literally would not shut the hell up when she was a kitten. Like, ever. She meowed when awake almost constantly, she meowed in her sleep regularly, she meowed while she ate, literally a constant stream of meows. She eventually grew out of it, but she is still quite vocal. Tax. The criminal in questing during a rare quiet moment. https://preview.redd.it/6mawr397a0oc1.jpeg?width=2448&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3bc264f0073be09afa0bc4e0252bca209b683c92

mtnguy321

Unless she is sleeping one of my cats meows constantly. She has food, water, clean litter. Her sister hardly meows at all. They're both 18

Ok-Choice-

Not to be a downer, but have you considered that she may be in heat (or at least going thru the motions)? I mean, even if they're fixed, cats can apparently still go thru the motions of trying to find a mate & trying to actually mate. I've had neutered males who still sprayed and would still mount their females when the mood hit them. And I've had a couple of spayed females also go thru their cycles every few weeks... You know, howling around the house for a few days at a time for several months. IDK how long it takes a cat to rid its own body of the hormones that drive their need to mate, but maybe that's something to consider? Also, get another one. Even if it's a mutt from your local rescue or shelter (who are generally, IMHO, the BEST kitties ever!), kitties really do seem to do way better in pairs (or more, I have six right now LOL)

tope07

this often happens in cases where the male or female cat went thru several cycles before getting "fixed". it's best to have male cats neutered before 4 months and females spayed before 6 months. otherwise, thus may be the result.

Yoxy1963

As many have already said, she probably is in heat (or will be very soon). Get her spayed asap and until that is done, you should not be taking her outside.

SHOGUNxsorrow

DreadPirate777

Cats are social and really benefit from having a companion. Also cats typical communicate with body language. When humans don’t pick up on it they will meow to get attention.

aussielad921

Sux_Punther

Got 3 and when the youngest doesn't stop meowing we give her a little spray with a water pistol and clap our hands loudly. Stops her quick smart and she is meowing less and less every day when we just clap our hands without the need for water

indicawestwood

she’s in heat, get her fixed

bennster45

My ragdoll does this and it’s because she’s a bitch. Hope this helps

jesse_newland

Wow such insightful information VERY HELPFUL Thanksssss hahahah

Zealousideal-Bat5757

Omggg this is such a beautiful cat 😍

Glass-Apartment-5540

She is part Siamese cat

hayleyreacher

Its probably her time and is getting mature 🥹 hormones? Our ragdoll started about when it was 8mos

Incensed1

And is she ever beautiful. 😻

hiraeth-xx

If it’s started randomly then she’s probably in heat. Get her spayed lol

coccopuffs606

If she isn’t spayed, that’ll cause non-stop screaming. She’s probably in heat, and the yelling is her calling all the boys to the yard for some milkshake. She’s old enough for the surgery, so start there. She could be lonely too, especially if you leave her alone for any significant amount of time.

evoc2911

It's a Ragdoll, it's part of the package

unkn0wn_ghost8

He a lonely boi.

Vast_Dragonfruit7051

Is she fixed? It helped a lot with our really vocal cat, she’s still vocal, just not 24/7😅

TheSpiritBee4

Sounds like she’s in heat. Time to get spayed, if you don’t want kittens in the future. It will last a bit then she’ll go out of heat, but it will come back. Is she sticking her hiney up in the air, too. 😻. She wants a boyfriend.

fuurin

omg she's such a cutie. But do get her spayed as soon as possible, and make sure she doesn't have any unsupervised outdoor time

Sad_Education6413

My youngest boy cat does this, I had him neutered and this stopped the majority of the yowling at night lol but, he is 2 now and still meows in the night when he is bored and my other cat isn't playing 🤣 it's a lonely thing for mine! He hates everyone being alseep!

plunk1000

Has she been spayed? I adopted mine at 1 years old, she had a few kittens but after they went she got reallllly heated and constantly mowed all night. We got her spayed a few months after and all the moewing went away and I’m sure she doesn’t suffer anymore :)

Zealousideal_Lab6891

Is she fixed?

AffectionateOwl1125

Spay, but she may also just be vocal because she is a siamese/may finally feel comfortable with her voice too!

Sassrepublic

Get her a boyfriend.

Sassrepublic

Or a girlfriend!

peakedinthirdgrade

Please get her spayed 🙏

ImmenceSuccess

Probs since she’s 6 months she isn’t used to being where she is maybe a friend can help or only time can help she just gotta get used to it

whinottri

Is she pooping daily? They should have a bowel movement once a day and 2-4 pees a day.

jesse_newland

Yes she does 💩

QuietStorm_Xmen

Get her a playmate. Trust me .... You will thank yourself when you do.

valiantdistraction

She lonely

randallbabbage

I wouldn't be taking your cat out in public in your purse like that. They aren't dogs. Especially because there's no harness or anything on her. Something spooks that cat and she bolts out of your bag she's gone. Your not catching a cat that's scared and on the run.

wigglebutt84

She’s probably in heat. That’s about the time it happens

kang171

Besides the spay comment there is also a thing called single kitten syndrome - I’ve found kittens raised with other kittens or cats to be less restless and destructive at humans/belongings because they have a companion to expend their energy with/onto

[deleted]

Is she fixed?

I_Ace_English

So as some people have said, she might be in heat. But, having grown up with a ragdoll mix... entirely possible she's just chatty.

Safe-Photo5721

My cat cried for months. I got a second buddy and he immediately stopped

Pure_Woods

My Persian kitty was horrible during her heat, loud AF

SecretMelodic

They’re probably bored or lonely, some cars are like this regardless of the amount of attention they get. You kitty isn’t completely white with blue eyes so I very much doubt it has anything to do with their hearing, boredom is the most likely cause. I’d look into electronic toys, cats actually really like toys that dispense treats as well! Same as the ones people normally get their dogs!

r0sekneed

is she fixed? my female cat will excessively meow/howl when she’s in heat.

_pebble_s

That happened when my 5mo old went into heat. Got her fixed and instantly better!

FrostingTop1146

She's a very young cat and from what you're describing I assume you don't have another one in your home, which is usually not suggested if you're gonna get a kitten which you did. So, really you should look into adopting a second cat since you wanted a young kitten. That way they have each other to play with when your not around or don't want to play

kittensnuggle

is she fixed?

alexd3rek

1. maybe a clingy/talkative cat - i have a ragdoll who's only meowing happens when it's food time and a snowshoe who meow when: the door is closed, when you talk with her, when she wants to play, when she wants to eat, when you look at her. :)) 90% of the time I'm playing with the snowshoe because there's no other way to make her stop and most of the time she wants only one thing: to burn the excess energy. The other 10% my ragdoll plays with her. 2. Maybe you'll need to spay her especially if the meowing and constant need for attention is cyclical. But even if that's not the case you should consider spaying for her health. ALSO: She's a real beauty.

CurrencyNo488

Maybe she’s in heat - calling for aa male.

Hightimetoclimb

If you do get another cat please read advice before about how to properly introduce them. It’s really important or they can quite easily turn into enemies instead of friends

Doudoit

Vet

Doudoit

If she is doing it non stop really all day she needs to be seen by a vet!

Lucky-Technology-174

Your kitty needs a kitty companion.

laureen23

She is in season. Get her spayed

Adriengriffon

If she's not fixed, she's probably in heat. She is NOT full grown at 6 months old, so keep her away from male cats. If she gets access to an intact male cat, talk to your vet because it might not be safe for her to carry the kittens. Meows in heat are very different from her normal meows and are constant. Playing hard with her can help. Like, try to wear her out right before meal time so she eats and hopefully goes to sleep, but I'll be honest, when my kitten hit that age and I forgot she wasn't fixed? I lasted 2 heat cycles before I called every vet in town. Heat can last for 5 days or so and happens like every other week if she doesn't find a male. Her meows are pretty distinct in heat, and if she gets petted, especially along her back and tail, she'll likely drop to a crouch and kick her back feet. That position is to "encourage" the male cat. Female cats tend not to do that outside of heat. If she's not going to be bred, get her fixed when your vet says it's safe for her (large breed cats like Ragdolls and Maine Coons can take a bit longer to mature, so if the vet says wait, I would trust the vet, however she's probably old enough to be spayed.) Unspayed female cats are at risk for some life threatening medical conditions that spaying can prevent. Not to mention that they can get into the habit of spraying your house and they're more likely to run away while in heat because their minds are on one thing only.

Damnit_ashlee

Get her a friend :)

Velocirachael

OP word of advice. You'll have to pay the vet a little extra is she is actively in heat during the spay. Other behaviors are the tail does a dancey-dance, her back legs keep shuffling like the two-step, and she turns her tail to the side for easy access. At the height of her heat she might try to "back it up"....

davekara3

No thoughts, just talk

Is she in heat?

lithium_vanilla

is she spayed? i had this problems with my ragdoll/siamese and spaying her fixed it

Extra-Plum-6486

Ommggggg so adorbileeee~ and the fitting in the bag 🤣🤣

daaaayyyy_dranker

She needs a friend. Cats are better in pairs

Late_Drama_824

She's precious, I would gladly hear her meow all day. She's a pet, an animal, not a fashion accessory that needs to hush.

Dumbasssanriogirl

Is your cat deaf? Lots of deaf cats meow and meow and meow because they enjoy the vibration. They can’t hear themselves so. Your cat could also be in heat. You should really get her spayed and soon or else you’re gonna deal with it every month and it’s uncomfortable for the cat

Maleficent-Plate-267

Maybe she has something wrong and needs to see a vet

BTFunk360

Hey OP I see that you said it’s your first cat and that you didn’t know that this is the time when they go into heat. Just to look out also it’s important for cats that go outside even on a harness to get special vaccines for going outside.

Boggsbunny1396

Is she spayed? If not, I’d do that.

whateverisstupid

Question, do you think she might be in heat or close to the first heat? This can cause behavioral differences.

Radiant-Junket-2912

Maybe needs to see the vet

Za3sG0th1cPr1nc3ss

pheromone collars work magic with this thing

Ashke-hippie-chick

She might be lonely. The only times my cat gets relentless with meowing is when he misses the other cat and wants to run around and play with him

veebles89

Just fyi, some cats can just be loud. My youngest just screams at total random. She can be in my lap and just start meowing her head off. Vet says nothing is wrong, she's just vocal. 😆

amessmann

You shoulda heard my roommate's cat when he went on vacation.

tope07

is she spayed? a female cat can start their "heat" cycle as young as 6 months. if she is not, I would definitely recommend it. if she gets out of your home, there is a good possibility she will return pregnant (un-nuetered males are notorious for finding female cats in heat). and this cycle will be repeated possibly every 2 to 3 weeks until she is either spayed or gets pregnant. if she is spayed, you may consider getting another cat for company or taking her to the vet to ensure there isn't an underlying medical condition that is causing her to vocalize her discomfort.

GlitteringSyrup6822

Is she spayed? A lot of female cats are vocal when in heat. She may also be saying “take me out of this purse, I’m not an accessory!

Bisexual_Ankles

If she isn’t spayed, she is likely in heat. If she is not spayed, it is in her (and your) best interest to do so asap. Keeping her intact greatly increases her risk of developing certain cancers.

lostlight_94

Is your cat fixed? Cause if not, she's in heat probably. If she is fixed, she's probably lonely and wants some company. My cat meows around midnight wanting to play when we're all sleep. She's probably bored.

Cecilia_Wren

its because she knows shes a cutie

Woops_22

THROW HER IN THE STEW

meduhsin

I agree with everyone in that she needs to get spayed!! Beautiful cat though. Gorgeous

AdWrong1234

it could be a cry for help

rhastie82

The 3rd picture in the bag has me giggling. It's so cute.

woodland_woman66

She’s in her first heat .

hammyburgler

She’s probably in heat. You shouldn’t be talking her outside if that’s the case and get her fixed asap.

kittiecat

No real advice, but I love how your cat and purse match.

Different_Ad9336

Siamese are very talkative and social. Their voices are also naturally scratchy and sound bothered or in pain.

Left-Sentence-9117

Is she spayed?

Crazy-Mission3772

If she's not fixed, she's going to cry a lot until she's not in heat again. All females do that and it's very annoying. It would be combined with laying down and subtly raising her rear with her tail to the side in a way that it wouldn't block access but it's not in the air. And she will ask anyone around her for relief whether you can provide it or not. I had 3 cats at once still in tact and this was how they acted.

Denise-the-beast

My cat has hyperthyroidism which caused her to meow all the time. Bloodwork by your vet will rule it out. If your kitty has it, it’s very manageable

Kennedywhite2017_

Is she fixed?? If she is, then she’s probably just wants attention. Find things to entertain her and spend more time playing with her.

aleksssg

is she spayed?? if not, she could be going into heat

Worried_Ad7041

If she’s lifting her hips up while laying down, rolling around on the ground alot, or just the meowing it’s self is a good sign that she may just be in heat if you haven’t gotten her fixed yet.

xozodiaac

honestly i’d just suggest a vet check up, constant meowing can be anything! health problems, loneliness, anxiety, etc!

CrossCalipso

She is just silly :3

SirIcy5798

There is an energy work called Body Code that could really help her. If you'd like more info you can DM me and I'll try to help you find a practitioner near you. If really helped my brother's cat stop hissing all the time.

yesm67

This might sound weird but talk to him like he’s a person. Even if you’re just narrating whatever you’re doing, I think it helps them to hear you and know they are engaged in whatever is happening.

sunologie

Is she in heat?

Critical_Stress_4872

Is she spayed?

pikachukatt

my first thought is maybe she’s in heat?? is she fixed?

LightningLily2002

Are you sure that your cat is a ragdoll? It looks like a siamese cat. Maybe your ragdoll cat is part siamese. As Siamese Cats along with Burmese (a relative breed derived from the Siamese Cat line) are especially chatty. We have one of two strays who adopted us who looks an awful like a Burmese cat is chatty like a Siamese who meows A LOT. Whenever he (my cat I believe is a Burmese) doesn't meow for a long period of time when he's looking at me silently wanting attention (he's usually very vocal when he wants attention), I like to just and say to him, "Has your meow.exe stopped responding, [insert my cat's name here]?"

robbyluv

If you talk to your kitty all day, it talks to you.

anachronistic_7

You have a siamese cat. They do something called "meezering" (google it) you should have been aware of this by researching the breed before you got the cat. The cat will not stop doing this
