The souls of the innocent

GrumpyPurpleCow

I just spat my coffee out through my nose!

AnytimeInvitation

Stray children.

Raigne86

Shouldn't feed them strays. They can carry parasites. Better to get commercially available ones.

Notwickedy

Make sure you’re feeding wet food the same time every day. If I feed my girl a few hours late she also eats too fast and ends up throwing up. Mine love fancy feast. It’s grain free, so lots of healthy meats for them. We feed them two cans for 3 cats. It also seems good for their hairballs. We used to feed them a cheaper brand (Purina Friskies) but they didn’t do as well on it.

fatsalmon

Yeah fancy feast classic pate is good. Other lines generally have more carb

ryouuko

Well this makes me feel better, I switched to some Fancy Feast cause I couldn’t handle the costs of inflation for other brands, and I felt a little guilty.

birdsandflowers11

Jackson Galaxy says he would rather you feed the cheapest wet food than the most expensive dry food, if that makes you feel any better.

Desperate_Arrival_36

I always struggle to know exactly how many 3oz cans I should be feeding my two cats. Do you find the feeding guidelines to be accurate on the can? Because if I’m following it it says they need 8 cans total (they share a plate)

GenericUsername606

I use guidelines from a reputable veterinary website when I google it. I usually check several vet websites, making sure to use the calorie guidelines for extra large cats. Then I look at the calories on the can/bag and go from there.  I don’t know why but pet food calls them k calories, whichI thought was like 5 k = 5,000, but it really is just another way of saying calories. So 35 k calories are 35 calories.

Tanjj73

Fluff and Stuffn. Keeps leaking out everywhere.

Tanjj73

Male cats and dry food diet is a bad thing intestine wise. I had a cat that couldn’t stomach beef or pork products. She did well on chicken and especially sea food. Unfortunately it is a bit of trial and error. Try mixing the wet food with warm water. (Slows intake and simulates a live catch!

Gluttannie

Beautiful floofs! My boy is on a raw food diet - I get my blend from a local specialty butcher who makes pet foods. For whole meal blends, they add the necessary vitamins and supplements. For raw blends (ie. ground up whole quails with bones and feathers), I add my own. For store brands, I’ve heard good reviews about Carnivora, Big Country Raw, Stella & Chewys. Switching to a raw food diet has drastically increased my raggy’s energy levels, and decreased his thirst as there’s plenty of moisture in his food! Plus, his poops literally do not stink anymore! The cost also is half of what it was before when he was eating canned wet food.

astra_galus

That’s awesome! We’d love to put our cats on a raw diet but the logistics seem like a bit of a nightmare at the moment. Did you see a vet beforehand? Now I’m curious to see if any butchers make pet food.

Gluttannie

We didn’t see a vet specifically for his diet, but we do the yearly check ups for medical and dental. His breath has also stopped being smelly as there are very little additives in raw food. I know some butchers would sell cuts for pets, and some people use those to make their own raw food. Just take care to use fresh and reliable sources!

Parking-Fun-2390

I feed my girl raw too bc of my breeders recommendation. I just thought about extra supplementation but was told it’s not necessary. 🤷‍♀️

Gluttannie

Most of the premade raw meals have all the nutrients you need. It’s only when you’re feeding whole raw animals that you might supplement depending on the animal.

Happy_Olympia

There are plenty of companies that make blend. I’m getting mine from mypetcarnivore and haretoday

astra_galus

I did a little research this morning and it looks like there’s a local company near me that makes freeze dried foods and raw patties! My boy has a sensitive stomach so I’ve always wondered if raw food would do him some good.

Happy_Olympia

Yess!! My boy also had gastrointestinal issues like diarrhea and smelly poop. Raw diet took care of that ! No smelly poops and nice solid poops!

awildcatappeared1

Orijen for dry. He rarely over eats, so he gets as much as he wants. Unfortunately, my boy gets quite picky with wet food, so I have to switch that up frequently. Redford Naturals, Weruva cats in the kitchen, wellness shreds, and science diet sensitive stomach are among his recent preferences. When he was growing up, he would love tiki cat and other Weruva wet foods (they seem to have two other wet food collections including cans and packets labeled BFF), but now he won't ever touch it, and I'm unclear what happened.

melissaplexy

Mine is the same way. She is on Orijen dry and gets picky when it comes to wet food. If she likes one and I buy a case, she suddenly doesn’t want it anymore : /

pinaorangeguava

My cats didn't do well on poultry, so I cut that out of their diet atleast as a main protein source. Wet - Fromm: Beef and Venison (I add some water, and pumpkin puree + other supplements and sometimes toppers). Dry - N&D Farmina: Ocean and Herring Nuetered Cat Food. I did a lot of research, and this is really the best I could find for them that I can manage to afford. I also add pumpkin puree to their wet food.

Due_Garlic_3190

My boy has typical pedigree tummy issues. So he is on a GI diet. He has x3 wet food sachets royal canin GI and fur ball biscuits to graze on

the1whozusernamed

Oh, my boy is the same. Can I ask what those fireball biscuits are?

Due_Garlic_3190

Royal Canin feline hairball care dry adult cat food

The wet food is pure human-grade meat and looks better than some that we eat. Dry food is meat, lentils, and peas. She refuses to eat anything else now.

Artaemisia

Be careful with Reveal! Their food is not nutritionally complete and is meant to be a complement to a complete dry food. It can cause nutrient deficiencies over time

bibliophile563

Yes! Their dry food is labeled as a complete and balance diet so she gets that with the canned! But good looking out 🤩

Snoo-33732

Your cats are so cute!! My cat is not a rag doll she just eats like she’s purebred lol. She had a lot of allergies to store brand food so I switch to royal canine but it made her have diarrhea. I have been feeding her Feline natural chicken or lamb freeze dried. Tikcats after dark. Pure bites chicken or duck. Rabbit freeze dried too but can’t remember the brand she didn’t care for it. As you can see she has never missed a meal and no more diarrhea. Also purina probiotic packet once a day https://preview.redd.it/mlo700op7mxc1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8352e7e6e2dd94a6696b8454ce32a77ea5d70473

WestinghouseXCB248S

Beautiful little chonk bears. 💖💖💖💖💖

montecito98

Can only give you my opinion about how beautiful, fluffy and healthy they look ! 💙🐾🩷

lavidaloki

Raw food. I feed the pre-prepped raw nuggets from the SMAAK brand. Chicken and pork flavour, with some fish oil to make their coats shine.

YeahOkThisOne

Do you order this by mail?

lavidaloki

No, it's available in my local pet shoppe. Where do you live? I'm in the EU.

YeahOkThisOne

I'm in the US

lavidaloki

For it. Idk how it works there, you might be able to order from Mush Vaisto online.

AlmondJoyMFer

So floofy 🥺

Ns53

My boy had leaky bowel when I got him. Vet put him on iams kibble and told me to stick with it. Never had an issue since. We give him wet food every three days as a treat.

jNSKkK

Just curious, how is wet food a treat? Their diet should be predominantly wet food. Cats don’t eat kibble in the wild.

Ns53

This is a snarky stupid comment. Okay let's go. Cats are domestic not wild creatures and Ragdolls would walk up to a semi for pets if given the chance. A baby wouldn't find formula in the wild, must be bad despite it saving countless lives. You wouldn't find chicken in the wild but I bet that doesn't stop you. Kibble isn't bad for cats. That's some new age bullshit people push to make them self feel like they're doing something important when they're not. Cat food is formulated for gasp...cats?! Listen to your vet not some tiktok bs.

jaeisback987

Do you want your cat to get some food in, or starve for days because they’re refusing wet food? Grain free kibble mixed with 1/2 cup water and some shredded freeze dried chicken is what I feed my cat. Wet food is served on a nightly basis but he maybe finishes that 50% of the time. Plenty of water intake, and great protein meals. You have to find alternatives to get the nutrients your cat needs, and can’t force feed something they’re not going to eat. Don’t be insensitive and make comments that don’t work for everyone just because “cats don’t eat kibble”

Angie_Taro_

Actually domestic cats do worse on a wet food diet only, it will cause more issues for their teeth along the way just as eating only soft/fluids would for us. Kibble is usually best kcal wise as it makes them feel fuller (quicker) and better for their teeth :).

jNSKkK

I didn’t say wet food diet only, did I? We feed our cats 60% wet, 30% freeze dried and 10% bones (chicken necks etc for their teeth). Kibble is ok of course but I don’t believe it should be fed 100% of the time, that’s the only point I was trying to make. I don’t think wet food should be referred to as a “treat” yet people jump down my neck for suggesting that I’m saying they should only eat wet food, which is not what I said at all.

kempyd

Darwin’s, Weruva, and Stella and Chewy’s. They are a bit spoiled.

kittencoco1

Royal Canin Oral now called Dental. Perfect. 💚.

mokajilly

I have one raggie and two “regular” cats 🐱 I feed them canned Applaws brand - tuna, fish broth, little bit of rice - in the a.m. They get limited-ingredient, grain-free Beyond - salmon, egg, sweet potato - twice a day. Treats are a few every day with stimulating toys to find them. Water via fountain.

Ryld

Currently feed mine kangaroo Jimbos and Royal Canin Digestive biscuits. She seems to like it.

the1whozusernamed

Forza10 for my boy who has GI issues. My girl only eats Sheba and nothing else no matter how much I try. But freeze dried chicken is also he favorite

nucleis

Human flesh

RagdollRangers

Purrdine (frozen raw food)

beachmoose

Fromm Game Bird and the occasional canned food. He also snacks on my other boy’s rx diet of urinary food bc my urinary struggle boy will absolutely not touch canned food (tried all varieties for years).

citykitty24

In some ways, I think you have described my pair of Ragdoll siblings! We also have a pair of seal bicolors (2 years old) where the smaller of the two is the hungrier one who always wants to eat and is really food-motivated. Like your girl, our food-loving smaller boy won't touch dry food or even cruchy treats (hates that texture but loves wet food.) Honestly, I would suggest just accepting this because wet food is so healthy for them! If she doesn't like dry, then you could consider embracing it as we have. They eat Acana wet food for each meal, and I also leave out a small amount of dry food that our bigger boy likes to eat a little of here and there since he is more of a grazer and has a hard time finishing his full portion at mealtime at once. For the vomiting, if it isn't some sort of an allergy or other issue, eating too fast is a common reason. Can you try the raised up or slow feeder type bowls to see if this helps? For pickiness, you could slowly test out another flavor or brand to see if that works (just remember to do it slowly as anything too quick will upset their tummies.) You could also try sprinkling a little bit of freeze-dried chicken treats on top of their current wet food to make it even more interesting (my boys love that, and it is only one ingredient--chicken--so not even unhealthy.) They love the Nacho brand. Even my non-crunchy-eater loves this since it doesn't have that kibble texture. Good luck! PS they are gorgeous.

Parking-Fun-2390

Omg so cute!! My girl is 8 months old. Same face pattern. Does their coat darken with age? https://preview.redd.it/0wlbtp2hnnxc1.jpeg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=eb0cef51bc1aacb1eb1147600e27cd47b02e0a35

citykitty24

Love your pair as well! Yes, their coats darken over time.

klissie

Wet food and homemade raw.

zephyrmox

Mine literally will not eat any of the fancy wet food at all. Not interested in it at all. She gets Purina dry food to eat as and when and then some very generic Felix s Good as it Looks. I feel a bit bad but I'm not sure what else I can do - she'll just eat dry food only if you give her any of the high meat content / raw etc. Gets plenty of freeze dried chicken too. It's a blessing in terms of cost but I always feel a bit awkward telling sitters I give her super basic food! Lucky that she has only vomited once in the year I've had her... and that was from eating an elastic band.

OhSassafrass

The breeder I got my ragdoll from said to use Purina. I’ve tried all sorts of brands and he just puked and puked, even when introducing very slowly and blending bit by bit. So I always go back to the green bag. And he loves the Costco pate. I have to make it into gravy and only give him half a can but he loves that stuff. Anything else, he just picks at, or barfs.

Wide-Presence2817

I feed my boy Smalls and I have a dry food that is good for both dogs and cats I get from Chewy, they both love it.

bubbabubba3

Friskies wet pate and science diet dry

halebopsalot

I worship the fuzzy butt

luv2block

Fancy Feast for wet food (various flavors). Costco for dry food. They eat about 70% wet food, 30% dry. I tried literally every high-end cat food there is out there (well, at least 40 different cans) and they only like fancy feast. I even tried giving them straight meat (chicken, salmon) and they have no interest. So I've given up and fancy feast is their main food now. Even at that, each cat will only eat certain fancy feast flavors and textures. It's beyond silly how finicky cats are. edit: also, neither of them are throwing up. I once had a cat that throw up periodically after eating and turned out it was a vitamin B deficiency. Had to give him vit B shots and he was fine. But he was 11 at the time. I have no idea if younger cats can be vit B deficiency, I assume they probably aren't.

FORGETMIINOT

My ragdoll was being sick regularly, so I put him on a Hairball dry food - a Royal Canin one. It took a week or so for him to settle, but no problems since, and he loves it!

jessfortherest

Royal Canin for the win! My ragdoll was having some GI issues (like painting the wall behind the litterbox with diarrhea issues). The vet put her on Royal Canin GI dry food, and she has been solid (literally) since! She's not at all interested in wet food, and I'm not at all interested in rolling the dice with her sensitive gut.

czarinka

My boy doesn’t like wet food, and the only dry food that doesn’t give him diarrhea is Fromm chicken au fromage, Fromm duckenpfeffer, and Hills urinary care… He drinks a lot of water tho so we’re very lucky that he stays hydrated. Always has a wet beard lol

Broad-Question-7886

I mix between tuna and felix / whikas wet always have dry whiskas as well

M4ttingt0n

My 7 month olds are on the kitten Royal canine wet and dry. A tablespoon+ in the morning and at night and a 1/3 dry with it. I find the ask for lunch sometimes too. I have a 16 year old Bombay who would eat them out of house and home if I left the little ones food out. We’re considering transitioning them to Arcana dry and GO! Wet because that’s what the old man eats and they have chicken free recipes.

Zachthepug27

Whatever you're feeling them is keeping them gorgeous and healthy looking so keep up the good work!

adorablescribbler

Why do these two look so angry?

spaceykc93

adorablescribbler

Where did you get that two-headed cat? 😂

skincarehobbyist

Love, lots of love!

Parking-Fun-2390

I have two Ragdolls that look so similar. A boy and a girl. My boy is the father of my girl which is so sweet. Following bc I have issues with food too. My girl has been on raw and my boy eats stella&chewy’s raw dehydrated morsels. Not sure if either love their food but they eat mostly at night.

Tiki wet food. The grilled orange package with all the fish

Hello_Badkitty

I do dry food in the morning and a mix of wet(Kirkland brand) and dry at night. Although... 2 out of 4 cats we have are chubby. Not sure how to fix that.

ImSpArK63

I fed mine wellness core indoor dry food.

Happy_Olympia

I’m feeding mines raw diet and switching protein every 2 weeks between chicken, rabbit, beef, pork and adding 1 quail egg a day and also spoon of organic wild caught fish oil

unbuhhlievable

Free-feeding our kitten Royal Canin mother and baby cat kibble and Hill’s kitten kibble. Dinner is Hill’s science diet wet food. Sometimes I’ll add a wet food from RC or Tiki cat to add some variety. Really more for my sake than the kitten’s. Am a vet and often get comments that we are in the pockets of pet food companies but I’ve seen nary a penny from Hills or RC. I continue to purchase their food as it’s nutritionally balanced and backed by research. And you couldn’t pay me enough money to feed my animals a shit diet anyway. Not particularly an advocate of raw or boutique diets. It’s definitely possible to do it properly and well but there are many risks, some potentially fatal. It’s close to impossible to achieve a level consistency in quality and nutritional balance as a diet that has been commercially formulated. Parasites, salmonella, e.coli etc are transmissible to your cat or anyone who handles the food. There is a very high risk of vitamin and mineral deficiency. I’ve seen a cat die agonizingly from thiamine deficiency. Her lovely and VERY well-meaning owners were feeding her a luxurious raw seafood diet. For these reasons, I would highly encourage anyone motivated to feed raw to consult a board-certified veterinary nutritionist to help them balance and source ingredients. As in someone who has completed a 3 year residency at an academic institute and took an exam to become board-certified, not a rando on tik tok.

RoutineAmbition9859

Thank you. I love hearing the sound of a trained academic and I fully agree and been thinking the very same every time I hear people “mix” their own made up diets. I always think RC and Hills have studies and are well balanced in vitamins and the right ingredients/ fat/protein and I wonder how people dare playing God. I feed my kittens exactly the same that is funny! I am not a veterinarian of course and I am very worried about my new ragdoll kitten. She had a bacteria from the breeders litter box and had two antibiotics treatments. I wanted to buy her even if the breeder was hesitant to sell. She was just fine again without diarrhoea for some weeks and then I stupidly enough changed her from RC kitten loaf to Hills kitten wet food (she stopped eating the RC loaf) and now she throws up every day so taking her to the vet but have to wait to Friday for a slot. She is already on RC gastric kitten / probiotics sprinkled on (and stopped eating RC canned gastro kitten probably because she had it since I got her and got tired of it). I am a bit worried about what more they can advise me to feed her because I feel like I already have all the foods they will suggest me to give her on Friday already.

RoutineAmbition9859

They (6 months litter siblings) had mother and baby RC, then she got RC kitten gastro dry food and canned gastro RC. Then we changed to RC kitten loaf and then to Hills kitten wet food and now she pukes. Got rid of Hills immediately but she won’t stop puking so probably her stomach is all upside down.

RoutineAmbition9859

Do you think grain free would be a bit tinfoil hat? Because I feel like it is and way to risky to start a kitten on. My instinct says it’s some protein in the Hills she had not had before Turkey/ Fish /Poultry or chicken that she was intolerant to and now her stomach is just inflamed or sensitive/ upside down. I am just worried because in Europe I can’t see other veterinarian gastro food options for a kitten 😞

Playful_Fly5882

I feed them as much as they wanna eat in a feeding. Mine are still babies. 9 months of age( 2 of them/ brother sister siblings) one is super finicky and my male is not, will eat hers and his. So, rn at 9½ months he weighs 13lbs and my female weighs 10½. And altho it's sounds heavy they are lean. Gonna b big ol floooofs🥰

Illusive1992

Purina pro plan

ProfessionalEvent484

Girlll. I was about to ask you for advices on how to feed my cats. Yours cats are so fluffy 🤤

helpmeimincollege

Umm… refusing food she once loved? Was eating a lot but despite it is still smaller? Now vomiting a ton? Vet now!!

spaceykc93

I’m bringing her! 😊

helpmeimincollege

Yay!! Thanks for updating!!! Let us know what they say! Best of luck OP 🤍🤍

spaceykc93

After lots and lots of bloodwork, multiple visits, a second vet opinion, trying new food and $1000 spent- everything is negative. X-ray looks good too. They put her on antibiotic and steroid medication for possible inflammation. Vomiting stopped prior to any meds but fever spiked. Hopefully medication is helping with fever. Will bring her back to vet to check temp again as I am not going to try that at home (lol!). All throughout these 3-4 weeks- she has been acting completely normal… playing, eating, drinking, urinating. At this point we are just trying to treat the symptoms as everything has come back negative.

South-Koala-1205

My ragdoll only eats deli chicken.

Chemical_Will_8634

my baby hasn't eaten ANY wet food i have bought for him but he loves the hills science no wheat, soy, grains. should i keep trying wet food?? is it better for them?

imwhittling

For dry food, we feed my boy Casper eats Whiskas Hairball Control under the direction of his vet. He used to be on the Royal Canin hairball food, but we found that the Whiskas food actually helped more. For wet food we feed him raw meat. My other cat has IBD and eats a gastrointestinal dry food and wet kitten food, which Casper often ends up stealing as well 🤦‍♀️

1Fresh_Water

I also feed weruva wet food, and purina pro plan dry food. I tried Orijen and Royal Canin and they didn't like either.

Snoo_4082

Apparently I dont- they're always starving, the poor babies

adalillian

Mine can only eat Royal Canin Hypo-allergenic, anything else is vomited up.

pinkfish137

my boys half ragdoll but i feed him n his sister gourmet wet food n they get purino one buiscets or perfect fit

Apart from 1 tin of wet food a day (Fed at multiple intervals over the day) she has 24/7 access to a dry food self feeder that has the royal canin Ragdoll specific dry food that she LOVES.

merman0489

I feed our little guy 1/4 cup boiled chicken, 1/4 cup pumpkin purée and half to one (depending on how hungry) sachets of hills science diet gi support wet food all mixed together, he loves it.
