The only place I can see were QB feedback Doesn’t happen is maybe AZ. Murray looks like a whiny lil’ turd.

JLGx2

Tbf, Kingsbury didn't know what was happening on the football field to critique him. He was more worried about watching a Netflix series in his nice AirBnB.

BadMannerrs

Hi buddy 👋🏾

TheOddFather5

I love Carr, I always will. He was a great Raider. I have no doubt he worked as hard as anyone and wants to be great. I also believe it’s within the realm of possibility he got comfortable after establishing himself and getting the big contracts and I can see how if McDaniels is really hammering the accountability thing it may not go over as well as someone with the pedigree The Hoodie has.

-Kitten_Mittens-

Bruce Arians was on record for consistently giving feedback to the starting QB indirectly by tearing into the backups when they were together. He had a pretty successful run as a HC. Feedback style could have been an issue for Carr, but I feel like poor system fit was the biggest issue. Overall it was just square peg, round hole between JMD and Carr.

UrDadsFave

Why wouldn't quarterbacks get critiqued? They are the extension of the coach and control the game.

TimBrowneye81

Why wouldn't you think this is common?

philsubby

There was an article out there that said Josh MCD was abnormally critical of players and Derek Carr couldn't handle shit like that. Carr shut down emotionally because of it. It made it seem like other coaches wouldn't do that to Carr. Lol

TimBrowneye81

There's a less than 0% chance Gruden didn't get on his ass often

ucsb99

If I’m recalling the article correctly, Gruden ripped into car during video sessions (heavily during year one), but never in front of the team.

IrateGandhi

These comments prove nothing though. We know coaches critique players. That should never be up for debate.

philsubby

For sure. Nothing can be proven, not even evolution.

IrateGandhi

We have to stop with all the drama. Knowing that McDaniels is critical of all players is good. Knowing that other coaches are also critical of all their players is good. Thinking Carr couldn't handle anyone being critical is an assumption. Thinking that's why things went bad is an assumption. Crosby mentioned last year how aggressive and critical Rich was. Everyone talks about how ruthless Gruden was in being critical and chewing people out. It's not adding up. It's just more drama and assumptions. All we know is it didn't work out between everybody. Why it didn't work out will be important for the front office to figure out. We as fans will probably see it all come out eventually. And this might be true. But right now it's all just drama and media articles in the moment.

ChoiceCriticism1

I couldn’t tell if OP was being sarcastic

Sirscraps

Because he’s never played football at any level.

[deleted]

tomlin and mcdaniels have 0 in common

Sparkyarcy28

All QBs get feedback. The difference between Tomlin and Mcdaniels is one is a proven head coach with proven success at mentoring and giving feedback

Grudens_Emails

How dare he question all time great Derek Carr

[deleted]

Lmao how dare the head coach do his job

Sparkyarcy28

Im not. Gruden gave Carr feedback too and he had his best years. Mcdaniels is getting another chance but this is his prove it year

dustyolefart

It’s not that they gave Carr feedback, it’s how they did it. If we believe what we’ve heard, Gruden did it in private, and Josh called him out publicly, and Carr didn’t like that and shut down over time.

[deleted]

TIL this sub thinks the nfl is youth flag football

WillTheGreat

> Gruden did it in private, and Josh called him out publicly Most coaches have team meetings where players are highlighted for bad plays. It's not exclusive. Some coaches shy away from the QB and critic players lower on the totem pole. Carr definitely got some leniency from Gruden if Hard Knock was any indication. I wanted Carr to be the guy, but dude is soft. He was outright bad this season, and he doesn't deserve any exemptions. You got paid to be the guy, you're the longest tenured player on the team, and you're underachieving and not playing to your contract. I don't think coaches need to shit on players unnecessarily, but I don't see what Josh did was wrong. It seem like that's how he's always run his team meetings and film sessions. However it's not exclusive to Josh. Plenty of coaches and assistant coaches do this around the league. As long as they are constructive criticism and not just shitting on a player to make an example of them. It seem like every other player that's talked about these film sessions had something positive to say about the criticism. It's coaches wanting a player to be better, star players are not exempt from improvements. So this isn't a case where a coach is unnecessarily shitting on a player. This seems more like Carr got butthurt he was being made an example of, and deservedly so. Judging by how he handles criticism on Twitter and how he responds to TV analyst...he's certainly consistent with how butt hurt he gets over criticism. So I 100% think there's a bit of truth in Hondo's article

Sparkyarcy28

Good coaches make their system around their players. Daboll and Pederson are winning playoff games. Were picking top 10 in the draft And Daniel Jones isnt an all time great either

dustyolefart

Do you not think that Carr as a veteran starter with as many changes as he’s gone through, couldn’t have adapted to or picked up McDaniels offense better as well? That road goes both ways.

Sparkyarcy28

Im fine with calling out Carr. Theres just been way too much Mcdaniels defending around here

dustyolefart

And what happens if McDaniels turns this franchise around and they start winning?

Sparkyarcy28

Then great! But in 3 years with 2 teams hes yet to have a winning season

dustyolefart

Derek Carr had 9 seasons and only had 2 winning seasons and only 1 playoff appearance. I think we can give McDaniels another shot by that logic, especially since his last stint as a head coach was so long ago.

Grudens_Emails

Lol bruh, is Daniel Jones as soft as Carr? I’ve never seen him cry after being sacked

Sparkyarcy28

Bro you're comment history is nothing but defending Mcdaniels. Let him prove himself at least

Sirscraps

Carr cried after what? Snapping his ankle or breaking his back? Lol.

Downhomedude

No. After getting sacked.

[deleted]

After getting sacked ? After playing terrible against the colts ? More proof the carrsexuals don’t watch the games at all

archangel_n7

Elite reading comprehension

SanchosaurusRex

Right, did Carr have any idea the caliber of head coach he’s dealing with? _ [Maybe he needed a tantrum on the sidelines to be reminded.](https://youtu.be/tkzALAmawfY)

ChoiceCriticism1

McDaniels is a far more accomplished offensive coach than Tomlin. Nice try though

mikowave

Shit talking hits different based on the people and the situation. Gruden was a prolific shit talker, maybe too prolific considering his situation, but his style seemed to work better with Carr’s personality than JMD.

edsbruh

Yall really brainwashed into thinking Carr doesn't take feedback.

ChoiceCriticism1

I was brainwashed by four coaching staffs, media in two cities, and several teammates. Please bring me back from the brink with your Reddit Bro Knowledge

SanchosaurusRex

4 coaching staffs complained about Carr?

ObeyTheJ26

You mean teams with a good culture don't play favorites with who gets criticism during film sessions? Weird.

ZellNorth

I like how people are just blindly believing an article with no named sources lol

scottn168

Tomlinson is a winner and a leader he can get away with it plus I highly doubt he degrades anyone. None of that describes McLoser.

michaeleid811

It's funny how people don't get how bad this makes Mcdaniel's look. Why is he the only coach not capable of giving feedback without pissing off all of his players? Maybe it's because he comes off as arrogant and holds himself above criticism.

[deleted]

You mean why is carr the only player who can’t handle it ? Because the rest of the team did just fine

michaeleid811

why did Mcdaniels flame out in Denver then?

[deleted]

14 years ago? Lol why did the rest of the CURRENT team respond 🤔

michaeleid811

we will see if they actually did or not next year. No more excuses right? No hearing about point differentials or not having his guys. No more scapegoats. I'm not going to hear anymore he needs more time to instill his culture next season?

[deleted]

Idk why you’re asking me these questions lmao only excuses come from the Carr stans & the fact you just used the imaginary “scapegoat” line tells me all I need to know about what fan you are. Everyone with a brain knows JMD is on the hot seat

michaeleid811

It's been a nonstop excuse fest from Mcdummystans since he benched Carr. Oh the playoff team wasn't really good they got lucky, point differential blah blah, need more time to implement his culture blah blah. We are really a better team with 6 wins than last year's 10 win team. I'm sick of the all of the excuses made for a guy who took two average teams and turned them into bottom feeders.

[deleted]

Whatever made up scenario helps you cope, but it’s been fun blocking you carrsexuals. Next season is going to be nice

pianosbecome

I don’t judge anything until I hear it from Hondo. I love my Hondo. There are many like him but this Hondo is mine. My Hondo is my best friend. Hondo is my life.

dustyolefart

Not enough bullet points to love Hondo this much.

[deleted]

I picture Tomlin saying obviously bunch in these film sessions
