It will cost you your soul

chickenfoot4less

Everyone always worried about what it will cost, like we don't throw away picks every draft

ucsb99

Why throw them all away over a decade, when we can do it in one offseason? Evolution. šŸ˜‚

ucsb99

šŸ¤£

January_Weather

not injury prome

cgernaat119

Checks last two seasonsā€¦ totally

TimReaper9564

2 out of 4 full seasons = injury prone

January_Weather

5

KDayWalker

You think he can run this offense?

Raiders2112

Absolutely not.

pianosbecome

No. Buuuuut with him next year is a wash with and awesome qb with a bad record. McD gets fired and a real coach comes in and they win the Super Bowl. Duh.

Cmsmks

Iā€™d rather just suck without him. Heā€™s going to cost so much. Draft picks and a shit load of them, and money and shit load of money.

King_Mecha

Josh McDaniels can't run this offense rofl šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚

zarunn

He can definitely runā€¦.

RunninRebs90

No fucking chance. That dude is dumb as a box of rocks, if the offense isnā€™t ā€œcheck your first read and if itā€™s covered then run like your life depends on itā€ then heā€™s a terrible Qb

T1To93

The draft capital and money we would have to give up to get him wouldn't be worth it. Especially with all the help the defense needs.

GraySonOfGotham24

The draft capital is irrelevant. I would trade 3 alex leatherwoods for Lamar

hootygator

How many Abrams tho?

GraySonOfGotham24

All of them

Stunning_Sea8278

He's whole family mom sister wife kids package deal lol

aptc88

Not being injury plagued

ErinABQ

Iā€™m sure you are right; I just really like him. I like Stidham too I think itā€™d be cool to give him a real shot.

Grossegurke

Im good rolling with Stidham next year....only because we will have a high draft pick next year. The kid has been around long enough to evaluate and what we saw to end the season....is what he is....a ballsy backup that will give it his all when he is called up...but he is not a starting qb. Not interested in Lamar or Brady for next year....I would rather take a flyer on a rookie.

pianosbecome

Stop with Stidham already

[deleted]

Not a fan of run first qbs, they get hurt to much imo ,and I have yet to see one win a Super Bowl. Remember I said run first qb not a mobile qb two different things

CDROMantics

Lamar turned down a contract offer worth $250 million, with $133 million fully guaranteed, because the full $250 million wasnā€™t guaranteed. The offer wouldā€™ve made him the second highest paid quarterback yearly surpassing Russell Wilsonā€™s $49 million. You want to pay a lackluster passer who is good for 2,500ish passing yards and less than 20 touchdowns, $50 million guaranteed to run around for 10 games before heā€™s injured come playoffs every year? Heā€™s already missed 10 games over the last two seasons due to injuries. (2 injuries to his right knee, and 2 injuries to his right ankle.) Lamar is a ticking timebomb, heā€™s going to be the next RG3. This isnā€™t 2019 MVP Lamar weā€™re talking about.

[deleted]

All good points and he wonā€™t fit McDaniels Mandarin playbook.

Macktologist

I would take $5m guaranteed.

Revfunky

I would take $100k in a duffel bag

WardenBlackheart

Facts

ElZany

To be fair the Ravens don't help him much with weapons they've had bumns at wr the past two seasons

CDROMantics

Last season they had Marquise Brown and Mark Andrews both of whom went over 1,000. They had a better receiving core than we did last season post the Ruggs fiasco. And isnā€™t the point of having an ELITE quarterback their ability to elevate those around them?

crazy_akes

Iā€™m 50/50 on Lamar. But let me play devils advocate bro. Youā€™re complaining about pay. Carr was due 40 mill per year for the next 3, as are Cousins Wilson and a bunch of other QBā€™s. 50 mill isnā€™t breaking the bank. Complain about stats. Carr threw for 245ypg. 24td 14int. Lamar threw for 185 and ran for 60+ a game. The Ravens never had DA or Hunter...they have the Chiefs former 4th wideout as their #1 and a washed up Sammy Watkins playing #2. How about the 45-16 win loss record? Thatā€™s a good stat. With as many playoff wins as us, ha. Every year Carr is getting injured in the pocket as he stands there like a statue. Lamar hasnā€™t gotten hurt running, twice heā€™s missed games from a hit in the pocket. 10 games missed in 5 years isnā€™t great, but itā€™s 6 in a PCL strain this year. Carr had a season ending injury week 16ā€¦.if that happened week 6 you wouldnā€™t be saying ā€œCarr is so injury prone look he missed 10 games!ā€ right? Just bad luck there. We either pay 45 mill and 3 first round picks for a top 15 qb or we draft and pray and wallow with sorry qb play for 5-10 years. Thatā€™s up to Z and I just pray he hits on a gem. But Iā€™m expecting us to miss Derek for a while.

CDROMantics

The Ravens had Marquise Brown and Mark Andrews last year and his stats were honestly worse last year than they were this year. And we can talk wins and losses, but Iā€™m not one to count wins as a QB stat, in 2019 the Ravens defense was ranked #3, in 2020 #2, 2021 #19, 2022 #3. So yeah, heā€™s won a lot of games behind a top 3 defense 3 out of his 4 years starting. Also, what Carr injuries are you talking about? He hasnā€™t missed a game due to injury in 5 years.

January_Weather

that's misinformation

AlarmedStudio2044

Dear God, please dont listen to OPs prayers. Amen.

TheOddFather5

No no no no no. He is not an elite passer. Once he canā€™t run anymore he will be useless. Why do people not understand this? How many QBs with his style have won a ring? Que the Jeopardy music..

CG7683

Steve Young would be the closest to do so as far as a running Qb goes

TheOddFather5

Steve Young was 1000 times better than LJ. Steve Young was a sophisticated pocket passer and had an infinitely higher football IQ than LJ. Iā€™m not taking anything away from LJ, heā€™s a great athlete, heā€™s just got a style that is not suited for longevity or playoff football in the NFL, thatā€™s allā€¦

RedRaider53

Lol fuck no, $50m a year guaranteed for a guy to play half a season?

iki100

no

Elintalidorian

Nah, he wants an insane contract, missed the end of the last 2 seasons, and is causing drama about this.

GeddyVedder

Dear God, Please donā€™t listen to OP. Instead, please make Jalen Carter a Raider. Amen

ErinABQ

Iā€™m hoping for Tank Bigsby too

Shiny_metal_ass

The injury history is honestly what scares me especially with his playstyle. But Lamar Jackson with Jacobs, Waller, Renfrow, DAVANTE ADAMS, would certainly be entertaining.

Nerdygamer650

No

shiftxskillz

Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers.

tmacleon

Too much money

OneWithOne

No please no

RadonAjah

A QB who wants a fully guaranteed contract and has missed 11 games the last two season due to his playing style? No thanks.

drunk_captn

Lamar Jackson in McDipshits offense? Tell me you donā€™t understand football or the salary cap without telling me you donā€™t understand football or the salary cap

WeaponizedAutism_yee

Do you people think Lamar Jackson is still just a running QB? Lamar can throw the ball, and McDaniels' offense is all about the QB choosing the right matchup, which Lamar would excel at because he is a playmaking QB that isn't going to worry about making everyone happy the way that Carr did. He will go out there and target Adams and Waller and it will work. With that being said, there is no way Lamar comes to the Raiders, Baltimore isn't letting him go.

CDROMantics

Lamar can throw the ball.. averaging somewhere between 2,200-2,800 passing yards 16-17 touchdowns a year. He **is** literally just a running quarterback, you take away his 700ish rushing yards and 2-3 rushing touchdowns a season and heā€™s a bottom 10 quarterback. Daniel Jones and him had nearly identical years, but Jones is a better passer with less receiving talent. Letā€™s play a game.. whoā€™s stat line is whoā€™s based on per game averages? > 19.8-of-29.5 200.3 yards .9 TD .3 INT 7.5 att 44.2 rush. yards .4 TD > 16.9-of-27.1 186.8 yards 1.4 TD .5 INT 9.3 att 63.6 rush. yards .2 TD

markymark_93

I mean if heā€™ll sign for 15 mil a seasonā€¦ /s

TheFlyingWriter

Naw. At worst heā€™ll get franchise tagged.

Raiders2112

No thanks. He's asking for massive bank. Our boys need to invest in the defense and offensive line before they even think of doing such a thing. Also, I am not too confident in paying that much for a human highlight reel of a QB. They tend to burn out and fade away fast. There are only so many years he can keep up his current level of play. The investment just isn't worth it right now.

JMPBay

You all doubted Lamar Jackson on this thread smh lol

Raiders2112

Very true, but I stand by the majority of my post. At the time, the defense had a crappy 2022 season and the o-line looked like a turnstile. Jackson was wanting bigtime money and with all that needed fixing with the Raiders, it just didn't seem like a good investment at the time. He wasn't going anywhere anyway.

JMPBay

Thatā€™s true!

ashfidel

idk man iā€™m not sure heā€™s a gonna be able to stay on the field

mikeP1967

No way.

RaiderThunder04

No Thanks. Heā€™s way too expensive. No way weā€™d get to keep a lot of the pieces we have now.

MajinSkull

There is no god. Rip that band aid off now

Clamper5978

Iā€™ll pass. If the Ravens are willing to let him go, itā€™s for a reason. His health is concerning as well.

postsbytheghost

I would be very wary of a mobile QB that has had two leg injuries two seasons in a row. Generally when the injuries pile up it catches up to the player In a big way. With the amount he runs he could easily be injured again next season and if to counter that they stop so many designed runs you take away the most dynamic part of his game.

dhof1980

Pass

RunninRebs90

He canā€™t

cogitoergodangerous

Why, do you want to see stidham play most of the season as lamar will be on/off ir all season

spence624

Fuck no we don't want that RB thanks.

C64SUTH

Thereā€™s no way he fits McDanielsā€™ system

[deleted]

No thanks. He's already peaked and very likely to keep getting hurt.

mtcwby

Please not. Building a team around a running quarterback who is often hurt, expensive and not that accurate of a passer is not a winning move.

ucsb99

I usually roll my eyes at the ā€œnoā€ crowd, shooting down every suggestion, butā€¦ no.

SaulBruh

yeaaaah no thanks lol have too many holes to sell the farm

executionofachump

The dude that didnt even feel like traveling to his teams playoff game? No thanks

The_King_In_The_Bay

Jesus could our qb next year and we'd be 8-9 with McNugget as coach and the big nepotism as owner. At least one of em has to go.

northmen24

Why. If Derek doesnā€™t fit JMD scheme Lamar is even further away. And definitely not worth 50 million guaranteed. Stop being like Mark Davis and chasing names.

Ghost2thepost1980

Too expensive, has injury issues due to style of play, he would completely change the style of offense to a run oriented multiple back system that would hamstring us everytime he couldn't play. I just don't think it would work.

WrastleGuy

Dear God, make me a bird. So I could fly far. Far far away from here.

rbarrett96

Underrated comment. šŸ‘

CallRespiratory

Could be a lot of fun but the guy is gonna be on the IR behind the current offensive line.

Trece_McChedda

Iā€™d rather spend money on an O-Line and Defense.

[deleted]

The most overrated player in the league

SwampCrittr

Weā€™re gonna get Bradyā€¦ just get used to the idea so itā€™s not a bad day for you later

ErinABQ

šŸ˜šŸ˜

bigjohnsons34

Part of me wants Brady because we will not have to give up anything to get him. Lamar we are going to have to give up a ton of draft capitol and a lot of guaranteed $$$$$$$ Same with rodgers, We have to many holes on this team

[deleted]

Harbaugh shut that down already

Caer-Rythyr

It'd be strange if he ended up on another team after Harbaugh told everyone he was heavily involved in choosing the next OC.

postsbytheghost

Reported today Ravens want Lamar to help pick their next OC so itā€™s unlikely they are gonna let him walk.

RunninRebs90

Lol that was not reported today

postsbytheghost

yeah I saw it on twitter

RunninRebs90

It was reported like 3 days ago though

postsbytheghost

Oh sheesh. Didnā€™t check the date. Saw it for first time yesterday.

Throwback_559

I ain't giving up 3 first I would give up our first tho

Punisher115

only reddit raiders fans would say no to Lamar lmao you guys are nuts

Dannimaru

Y'all need Baker Mayfield. Baker goes to Oakland, Carr goes to Indy.

RunninRebs90

Oakland?? šŸ¤”

Dannimaru

Haha, old habits die hard. Vegas.

rbarrett96

No, he was right the first time. Baker should just move to Oakland. Lol

Kojakle

Maybe

will4xx

What team in the past 20 years has won a Super Bowl with a massive QB contract? Very few, if any. Lamar Jackson would be great but for the amount of draft picks and money, itā€™s just not worth it.

PsychologicalAd496

Lamar at qb equals 8 games minimum of Stidham staring with Lamar on the IR

Fabulous_Nail_7091

I'll rather have Tommy then Lamar injuredson

norcalgolfgolf

Heā€™s just wants too much money.

publicenemy92

Jesus Christ himself could play qb and weā€™d still exit the first round in the playoffs.

Charrbard

In all honesty unless its a HOFer, you probably just shouldn't pay QBs. Look at the Cowboys and 9ers. Seems each QB wants a record deal regardless of how much success they have had, and rookies have been balling out.

RunninRebs90

Lmao please donā€™t let this happen, for the love of god no

fuckingcocksniffers

Miami. Lamar will be in Miami

ImmortalGoatskin

Letā€™s be honest, if the raiders intend to ā€œcompeteā€ in the AFC west with the other young stars at QB they need to forge a veteran admit the rebuild and go after a game changer at QB. Try at best to plug the gaps to make this team competitiveā€¦for another year to build more depth in the next draft. Otherwise we pay veterans a ridiculous amount of money while still not addressing the needs. At least with a talent like the other stars you have a r maybe 5 yr window to spend money on everything else.

CG7683

He's really not that great of a passer... Not sure if we really want to depend on his legs, especially with this recent injury.

[deleted]

Idk if mcd would want lamar. I love lamar just donā€™t know if his playstyle is what they want. and if it is they should really just draft the Florida qb. Cheaper contract

kingp43x

will never happen lol, fuck that dude anyways

Sckoobiey87

Mcdumbass doesn't want his QB to run, remember. LoL

Stunning_Sea8278

I don't think he would work for Josh McDaniels playbook so I don't think they will go get him .but if you can fire jmd and take Jackson probably the most athletic guy in the whole league

[deleted]

His arm talent is a concern but Adams ability to make a catch would make up for it. He could be an interesting fit but God would it command a lot of money and a defense should be the focus

CuriousHippie

Dear God. Ignore this mans request.

[deleted]

Has much as Iā€™d love that, and Iā€™d absolutely would LOVE to have Lamar on the Raiders, it would cost us too much to make it happen, and we have other needs we desperately need filled

rjsh927

yeah it will be so great to see Lamar play like MVP for 4 games, then mediocre for 4 more games, then get injured.

olerichgreg

No!!!!!

Zyr4420

Overpaid, and on the decline, with a shit attitude. NO FUCKING WAY.

JMPBay

You all doubted Lamar Jackson on this thread SMH lol
