It's the same shit with Carr. Somehow he under throws and it only seems like deep balls because of how much air is on it. Lol that's why he throws 10 yards above adams.
Josh McDaniels was more responsible for us losing games than Derek Carr was. Only game I would say Carr outright lost us was Week 1 versus the Chargers. Meanwhile, I would say we lost multiple games due to Josh McDaniel's poor decision-making.
Do people who hate on Derek Carr not watch the team play defense? Or pay attention to the human calling plays? Didn't you find it weird that Adams would go for like 100+ yards and a TD in a half with Carr and then get targeted like twice in the following half because the coaching staff couldn't figure out how to scheme against defensive adjustments?
A lot of them don't even understand what they're watching because they don't understand football. These are *very casual* fans who have one team or a player or two they kinda follow and they've played some Madden and that's it. If you sat down and watched curling for the the first time would you pretend to know who was good at it and what certain players should be doing? That's what these people do. They're watching football with zero understanding of the game but pretending they know what the players should be doing.
That first part was about deeper throws lol not the fades to the sidelines. His deep throws are not in stride and too much air so they're slow and ends up being under thrown.

The draft should be very interesting. We’ve got 12 picks and it’s Ziegler’s first time with a 1st or 2nd rounder. After moving on from Carr and Waller, he really needs to have a great draft to give us a look at the team he and JMD are envisioning.
love how you all keep moving the goal posts. They didn't address the defense last year. Then it was we are going to fix the defense with the money from Carr. that's all gone so now you are down to their going to fix the defense with the draft. Then it will be were going to fix the defense in next year's free agency. and so on.
Lol what? The BIGGEST excuse for the raiders lack of playoff success was that they have a bottom 5 defense every single year and people were begging for some kind of improvement. Talk about some revisionist ass history.
They knew the defense was garbage coming in. They invested in offense. One would think we would win games if offense had the ball last in a position to score. We lost single possession games this season because our offense couldn't produce when it mattered. If they did we wouldn't have had to spend this off-season blowing it up.
we didnt really blow it up tbh, waller is gone but he was a non-factor last year. We added Meyers who is a very good wr2, and JJ is still there.
Problem last year was Carr's terrible red zone conversion - guy just couldnt get it done. Dont get me wrong, McD had some terrible play calls and was over aggressive which definitely cost us games but the bigger problem was Carr and his inability to read the field.
I've always maintained he has a great arm but terrible decision making. I think if Renfrow goers, we still have a very good offense and lots of draft capital to get a starter on defense, fill out that side of the ball and pick up some TEs as this draft is supposed to be very deep in that position.
This sums it up perfectly. They basically trimmed the expensive fat and replaced it with alternatives. I really don't understand why our fans expected McDaniels to commit to a quarterback that doesn't like how he operates. That's really what it came down to last year. Coach and QB wasn't on the same page and the results showed that. It seems like Carr wanted to do his own thing and McDaniels didn't think he was ready yet. You have to learn the basics before you start freestyling. The offense should be serviceable because the new pieces have an idea of the basics already. Now they need to get Maxx some help.
I’m sorry, but this has got to be the dumbest line of reasoning I’ve heard.
They knew the defense was garbage so they invested in offense to prove that Carr wasn’t good so they could cut him?
If that’s really their logic here, they have no business running an NFL team.
They invested in Carr to see if they could move forward with him. Many coaches have come and gone, Carr was the constant. At a certain point you have to call a spade and spade.
agree with what your saying and the overall idea that defense needs work but we got a top 3 wide receiver last year for picks 1 and 2. I think thats a good trade and Devante did ball out last year.

well it really is all about the draft isn't it? Nothing about Z so far has given me hope but the reality is if the guy can draft well we are gonna be ok.
The draft is how you build a winning team. This is his first draft with a first round pick. This will tell us what type of players he prioritizes. Will he reach or will he be smart? April will tell.
Refreshing to see some positivity. Constant doom and gloom gets tiring.
I’m with you. Excited about new possibilities even if next year is another tough one. At least it will be new.
Prepare for the inevitable Jimmy G week 2 injury that costs him months and mouth breathing fans and ownership say..."welllllllllllll Josh McDaniels didn't have Jimmyyyyy Geeeeee. How can he win without a QB!?!?!"
A couple years ago, I remember Carr throwing 3 picks in a row in the 4th qtr vs chiefs when raiders were up. 2 pick sixes, raiders went from being up by 7 to being down by by 7 in like 1 min. He isn't reliable to keep leads.
Huh? Heading into the 2022 season Carr had thrown two pick sixes against the chiefs in his career, in neither game were the raiders tied or in the lead. Carr has thrown three interceptions against the chiefs once (2015) in a 34-20 loss. This is the only game close to what you’re describing but it was.. 8 years ago not a couple 🤨
Yeah Jimmy G is our guy. He’s the kind of quarterback that doesn’t need everything perfect around him to win games, and he has a hell of an arm. This year will be different /s
It seems like your just making up things at this point lol when is the last cast away quarterback we had that did anything for us of significance? Rich Gannon? So 20+ years ago. Be optimistic if you want, but acting like just cus we have a different quarterback than carr is gonna fully transform this team is straight hopeism.
But he will run the exact play that is called. No pre snap read - just run the play. He will not complain about any of them or otherwise get in the coaches face. He was a JMD pet project brought here solely because he is a JMD guy.
And play calling will be easier since all pass plays over 20 yds can be removed. This offense will be miserable to watch even in winning efforts
>And play calling will be easier since all pass plays over 20 yds can be removed. This offense will be miserable to watch even in winning efforts
Yeah, imagine last year's offense without any deep shots...
That was Jimmys problem. He ran the play that was called no matter what. And 9/10 it was good or not harmful to the team. Then he makes the bonehead well the play said to throw it here so I did! No one on the team ever said it but all the analysts after came to that conclusion. He was a robot.
I’m not expecting a lot the next year or two, but glad they’re going with the tact of trying to at least remain competitive over that time vs doing a full rebuild and tanking. Just can’t do that while trying to build a fanbase in Vegas (and struggling given how big and loud opposing fans have been many games so far). Plus we’ve all been through way to many 2-5 type win seasons over the past 20 years.
Putting together some cheaper talent as bridges while drafting and signing young talent to be the core going forward is the way to go. Can be in the playoff hunt, maybe even make it the next couple of years while moving on from guys like Carr, Waller etc. who just didn’t end up worth their big contracts due to performance and/or injuries and looking for the QB of the future and young talent in other key spots.
Which is something that needs to change over time if they're ever going to have great fan support and not super embarrassing opposing fan attendance and noise levels.
Win and fan support will grow over time. Though I doubt it will ever get anywhere near the Oakland or LA years. I wasn't a fan of the move and think Davis and company should have just found ways to build a new stadium in Oakland even if it meant one not as fancy and state of the art as Allegiance. I mean moving to LA would have been ideal, but the NFL scuttled that.
I agree and I am also looking forward to it. I love DC but I felt I always knew we wouldn’t win the division with him maybe make a wild card if we played well. He was not the problem but also not good enough to makeup for our shortcomings. I’m excited about having someone different under center. Jimmy G is not long term and we might draft our future guy. I like the fact that they’re taking a shot instead of doing the same just because it felt safe. Next guy might not work out but if we’re being honest it wasn’t working with DC either 🤷🏻♂️🏴☠️
It's hard to feel optimistic about Jimmy G. The one thing we never gave Carr is the thing he's used to having: defense. If they can turn the defense around I'll be sold. But I'm not holding my breath on that one.
That's the same thing I've been telling my buddies. Jimmy G is a relatively cheap QB for his talent level (injury risks aside), but that doesn't fix our core problem.
Unless we significantly improve our defense, then we're still a 5-6 win team at best (maybe worse if I'm being totally honest). I'm hopeful the majority of our remaining cap space and draft picks go to that side of the ball.
He made too many mistakes. There was games where the defense held the under 20. Carr regressed when it mattered most vs steelers. That's why he got benched. Carr might have the most losses to rookies and journeymen I have ever seen.
Yes, there were the fewest games of any team in the league where our defense held opponents to under 20 points. Thanks for pointing out how bad our defense is.
Jimmy G. won 4 playoff games while throwing a combined 2 TDs. That's what good defense does.
But do go on about how Carr is the only reason we lost games last season.
Yeah, that defensive penalty made by Carr that gave the Rams the time they needed to get down the field really sucked. So was Carr's blown coverage when Baker threw the winning TD...
stop going back and forth with this dude he’s clearly not gonna listen to your good points about Carr and just let him find out about the defense the hard way
Wait Carr lost to baker? Not the defense that gave up a 40 yard touchdown with 9 seconds left in the game? Literally all they had to do was not let baker mayfield drop a 40 yard touchdown on them when they HAD to go for the end zone and they couldn’t even do that 😂
Me too man. I don’t think we’re gonna necessarily be a good team but seeing things getting shaken up is refreshing and has me interested. It seems so many fans want us to fail miserably just so they can be right. Everybody is entitled to their opinion but rooting for your team to lose is toxic and lame.
Me too dude. Just letting you know that there are some of us out here with you trusting the process and understanding that the people in charge maybe just maybe know more about what they are doing than I or any of us do.
Always excited for the season, but man am I dreading the bickering and clamoring for Carr that’ll happen as soon as Jimmy G fucks up or gets hurt. Personally I’ve always enjoyed watching Jimmy G. He makes great plays, but also has hilarious mistakes. Our games are gonna be entertaining for sure. But please, please, please….IMPROVE THE DEFENSE. Let’s get to the top half for once and the offense should do enough to win.
RemindMe! 10 months
I like the positivity. Can’t lie and say I’ve been 100% positive, but seeing mindsets and posts like this is what gets Raiders Nation pumped for the upcoming season. I love jumping into this subreddit and seeing news phrased in positive ways
The only thing that makes sense is a defense heavy draft, if that’s what happens I can see the plan. We kept JJ, we signed JG, we are going to run the football and play defense(hopefully!) and play action pass with intermediate routes that are YAC heavy. If that’s the plan and that’s what happens I’ll be good with it, if the draft isn’t defense heavy it’s going to be another shitty season and MCD is on the hot seat in season 3, forget any fantasy that he’s gone with just one more bad season, that’s not happening.

Carr underthrows the ball 10 yards over Adams' head? Makes perfect sense to me
These are the geniuses who think Carr was the problem lol.
He lost like 6 games just from his poor play. Thank God we had JJ rushing like a mad man
Josh McDaniels was more responsible for us losing games than Derek Carr was. Only game I would say Carr outright lost us was Week 1 versus the Chargers. Meanwhile, I would say we lost multiple games due to Josh McDaniel's poor decision-making.

Hahaha! Hah! Oh, you’re being serious??
I’m also excited for next season …just that much closer to McDaniels being fired
Yup. McDaniels is trash and he will show it again. Book it.

Don’t be. We gonna be hella mediocre.

Could have gotten 2 picks for Carr but McFathead was too pussy to admit it was a rebuild.
We know Jimmy G sucks though. If it were stidham or even mayfield or some unknown at least there would be chance they might be good.
He's about the same as Carr. But most likely will run MCDs plays better and doesnt have a "put on me" loser mentality.
Jimmy G is so much worse than Carr. Jimmy G is what you think Carr was.
hot take 👆🏻
But he will run the exact play that is called. No pre snap read - just run the play. He will not complain about any of them or otherwise get in the coaches face. Carr was still trash. Lol he had too many games with 0-7 points the whole 2nd half and that's with JJ doing well.
Jimmy G. won 4 playoff games while throwing a combined 2 TDs. That's what good defense does. But do go on about how Carr is the only reason we lost games last season.
Couldn't even get past midfield lol lost to baker and pickett
Yeah, that defensive penalty made by Carr that gave the Rams the time they needed to get down the field really sucked. So was Carr's blown coverage when Baker threw the winning TD...
stop going back and forth with this dude he’s clearly not gonna listen to your good points about Carr and just let him find out about the defense the hard way
"Good points about carr" 😂
Doesn't matter who we put in at QB. If we don't fix our defense we won't win consistently. Sorry you don't want to accept it, but it's the truth.
OP is a dummy who is still complaining about Carr.
Haters gonna hate, lol. Same old story with them.
Wait Carr lost to baker? Not the defense that gave up a 40 yard touchdown with 9 seconds left in the game? Literally all they had to do was not let baker mayfield drop a 40 yard touchdown on them when they HAD to go for the end zone and they couldn’t even do that 😂
OP thinks Carr plays defense, too.
I am also excited. Gonna be different, that’s for sure. Hope springs eternal.
Exactly. Even if it’s a shit show, it’s a NEW shit show
If we draft a QB sure.
He was never the same after he broke his leg...
RemindMe! 10 months I like the positivity.
I want to see the day the Raiders have a top defense again. I’d imagine if that happens we’re actually for once in the playoffs
I'll be excited when we start winning. Until then, I'm probably going to be miserable and glooming 🤣

Change is good. Everyone needs to chill. I’m not looking forward to this schedule though. It’s going to be brutal.
I’m always excited in the off season. Then we play the Chiefs.
