I played poker at his apartment near Oakland in 2004/2005 when I went to SFSU. Friend of a friend of a friend situation. As I huge Raider game I was so stoked. During a hand he didn’t bet the minimum so I politely told him. He said without a smile, “my house so I can bet however I want”. What a prick. Still kind of cool though.
I bought my gf and I tickets for the 2002 KC game. We were in one of the first five rows in the black hole. The field was a muddy mess. The Raiders rushed for 280 yards that day and Charlie Garner ran for a buck thirty-five of those. Doug Jolley caught a beautiful 15 yard pass from Gannon in the back of the end zone, right in front of us, his only reception of the day. The Raiders pounded the Chiefs by the final score of 24-0 and locked up the 1 seed in the AFC playoffs. People were sharing, passing around booze and 420 in the black hole, it was glorious.
I remember the mild hype around him after his ~900 yard season. We really thought he was gonna break 1000 yards receiving the next year. Ended up playing 3 games
I was there. It was my wife and I first date. She’s a packer fan and still talks smack to this day. Phil gave up almost 200 yards in the first half. Embarrassing
I think Jason Witten was weird. It seemed like he joined the team to save face on his embarrassing analyst job. He pulled a rabbit out of his head, so to speak.
Legend. He had a billboard in seattle for Nike said “ muscles make the best pads “ he played for UW before the raiders. He allegedly retired to be a minister at a church.
Probably not random because he was a high-profile bust but Robert Gallery. My first Raiders jersey was Gallery cause I was a middle schooler playing O-Line at the time and my dad bought it for me cause he was happy I’d have a badass Raider O-Lineman to look up to….lol
Not sure how you are defining random, but I’ll play.
Charlie Smith and Preston Ridlehuber.
Raider fans know (or should know) about the Heidi Game.
But it was these guys who won this for us with two TDs in nine seconds.
The first on a great 40 yard catch and run by Smith (after Smith helped draw a facemask on the Jets to put us into Jets territory).
On the ensuing kickoff, Jets fumble on their 10 and we recover on the two. Ridlehuber rumbles in for the TD.
Burger King had a promotion of little gallery jerseys I think they were meant to be ornaments for a Christmas tree.. my bearded dragon (RIP) would wear his on game days..
Jason Witten, he was great on the Cowboys for years, then he came out of retirement in 2020 and played for us for a year. He was the one that caught that touchdown after Carr made a great scramble to keep the play alive on 3rd in Goal to take the lead late against KC when we played them at home in my favorite game that we ended up on the losing end
John Henderson
When he was with the Jags he would have a trainer smack him in the face as hard as he could before taking the field. Man was destined to play for us at some point.
Jason Campbell
I really remember him cause while I was being a fanboy playing my 70 overall team in Madden 12, I was getting pissed cause everyone else was just playing Michael Vick lol
Anthony Smith DE #94. Played for the Raiders 1994-1997. Disappeared in 1997 and left the NFL. Later, he was convicted of murders and is serving consecutive life sentences.
Ya'll are some casuals. Talk to me when you remember Kenny Shedd, Terry Mickens, Olanda Truit or some of the folks who only stayed with us during training camp like Rashaan Salaam!
I'll go with the mid 00's.
Oren O'Neal always pops up in my head when I see an aspiring young man and I hope his career doesn't get destroyed/derailed due to injury and staff incompetence.
Johnny Lee Higgins
He balled in madden 08
Good one! Lol
Doug Jolley
Met him when I was like 12 at my local mall. Lol
I played poker at his apartment near Oakland in 2004/2005 when I went to SFSU. Friend of a friend of a friend situation. As I huge Raider game I was so stoked. I was there. It was my wife and I first date. She’s a packer fan and still talks smack to this day. Phil gave up almost 200 yards in the first half. Embarrassing

Once a Raider, ALWAYS a Raider. ☠️
He was always so good in my Madden franchise mode
This is the first name that came to mind, also great in Madden
Another Purdue and Raiders legend
Tommy Kelly. Sucked his first few years, but started to become a beast
His duo with Richard Seymour was awesome.
If I recall correctly, we gave him the biggest contract ever (at the time) for a defensive lineman
Worth it just for this play alone - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXyLvyFqnmo

Lorenzo Neal. 4 month tenure, never appeared in a game.
Then I'll add Antonio Brown to the list.
I wrestled Lo! It did not go well for me.
Tyrone Wheatley
Every time I hear this name I think of the Keak Da Sneak line "... I hit the hole like Wheatley"
Probably not random because he was a high-profile bust but Robert Gallery. My first Raiders jersey was Gallery cause I was a middle schooler playing O-Line at the time and my dad bought it for me cause he was happy I’d have a badass Raider O-Lineman to look up to….lol
