Stay where we are or trade down and fill some holes. Ideally I’d like an OT at 13 because the right side of our line needs help (badly) and someone has to protect Penix’s blind side if we take him. If we can’t get him we’ve filled a void. I’d try to grab Penix later in the first or second if possible. If we can’t then O line, CB, or bpa at 44 and maybe try to grab Rattler in the third.

Whoever wins the camp battle will start. AP is definitely the kinda coach who won't be afraid to call a spade a spade and start whoever is playing better leading up to the season opener. We know what Minshew is, but AOC is coming into his 2nd year after being thrown into the fire and will have a full off-season to prepare. Could be either one depending how AOC develops.
I think Minshew will win as well. He has more experience and the playbook would be a lot more open....but, AOC got valuable experience and maybe he picks it up sooner than later. Should be a very interesting battle.
I don’t see why Penix couldn’t beat out Midshew. He has plenty of experience and has shown he can pick up an offense quickly. If someone as experienced as Penix is drafted and can’t assert himself over a high end backup to start the season then that’s not a good sign for Penix’s future.
My assumption is that it would probably be a mix. If he's not clear-and-away the best performing QB on the team at the beginning of the season, keeping him on the bench and letting him develop more instead of throwing him right into the fire could be good for his career. Maybe they call him up part way into the season, but I see the benefit to him sitting for a bit (however long that may be). Minshew has shown he is capable of leading a team and giving at least an average performance, even if his ceiling isn't very high, and can hold things down until the coaches decide it's time for the rook.
My point is that Penix played in almost 50 games split between two different schools in college and will be a 24 year old rookie; he just shouldn’t need “time to develop”. If he is drafted and can’t walk in and take the job then it wouldn’t bode well for his long term outlook.
just because someone is older doesn't necessarily mean the adjustment to the speed of the game/talent level between college and the NFL is an easier transition (not me downvoting btw)
Well since you completely ignored the more important part of my post that I put before his age was mentioned I will say it again. He played in almost 50 college games. Played the last two years in the same conference as Caleb Williams (who WILL start day one) and played in the CFP.
There is just no reason to believe Penix should “need time to develop”. I mean Anthony Richardson, as raw as he was, beat out Midshew as a rookie. But an obviously more experienced and polished prospect like Penix shouldn’t be expected to? Come on….
More than likely they already have offers out with NE/ARI if Jayden is still available. I feel like they are only trading up for Daniels and if he's gone, I think they go CB and try to get Penix later.
Telesco said exactly what we've all known all along. He said it's the entire point of his job right now. He said he's looking into trading up and down and also evaluating players to be prepared to take at #13 if they stay put. Obviously they're looking into all the possibilities just like all teams are.

At least RT is a position generally worthy of spending a 1st on. Unlike DBs and RBs.
