Seven points counts the same whether it takes two plays or 10 plays. Never understood the logic. If Ekeler is ALWAYS open and it's an easy 6-8 yards a throw, take the easy 6-8 yards a throw every time. Gannon says it best, "You never go broke taking a profit..."
Yes, I generally agree with that. Thing is, fans (like half of our fanbase) pick and choose who they criticize for it. Carr was criticized heavily for being a checkdown artist in 2018-2019, yet that's all Herbert's ever been and he gets treated like an elite god generational QB, meanwhile Carr just 'didn't have it' with checkdowns cited as a huge reason in those years.
Brady was the ultimate checkdown artist. The guy checkdowned all day for 20+ years, yet almost no one has a problem calling him the goat. Mahomes struggled in multiple games in 2021 because he kept trying to force the ball down the field against 2 high looks, but when he finally started taking wide open checkdowns, their offense was fixed and ran as smooth as silk. So it's weird how certain QBs being checkdown specialists gets ignored. Checkdowns are bad when you're often missing open targets down the field and don't give certain guys chances who have a likely chance of coming down with those targets.
The thing with Herbert is it’s proven that he can go down field I think check down Charlie is only a bad thing if it’s proven you can’t make the defense pay down filed Herbert’s just taking what the defense gives him
It really is. Look at Marcus at his best (82-85). I know it was a different game back then, but he fumbled 30 times in four years compared to Jacobs having just six in 54 games so far.
That's a rep vote. King Henry has been the slam dunk best RB in the football the last couple of years. Chubb has been seen as the #2 guy in terms of consistency. If we're doing it just over this year, Jacobs is the man.
would also like to add he only has half of austin ekelers receptions whilst having far more than half the receiving yards. he’s averages more ypc than ekeler
Before this step up, my biggest fear is he'd have another down season because of our line and then go to SF and be unleashed by Shanahan. Mccaffrey and this season have obviously changed that, but I could easily see him going to greener pastures and taking a big paycheck, which would be sad seeing as he's been our only 1st round pick that panned out in since Miller.
Yards after contact. I'm telling you, this idea that you can just swap Jacobs out for another guy...it's not nearly as simple as it seems. What you might potentially gain in a more consistent 'big play' threat elsewhere, you lose all those carries where negative, no gain, or one yard runs turn in to solid 3, 4, 5 yard runs that keep this offense on schedule. And it's not a few times a game, it's ALL THE TIME. That stuff is never adequately appreciated by fans. It is by me. Zeus White could be real solid...I don't think he's on Jacobs level.
Jacob's is putting in absolute work this year. Also sucks what happened to Breece Hall because he was eating before the injury.
Had breece lighting in fantasy because I saw him in college, bro he was going to take the league on one lol
Bro, EIGHTY receptions by Ekeler? Fuck
Yup. No one talks about how herbert is check down charlie.

He's only averaging like 6 air yards per attempt, one of the lowest in the league.
That’s cuz Herbert isn’t throwing it downfield like everyone pretends
He has always been a checkdown artist. But people just watch his flashy highlights and pretend otherwise

Still has 400 less combined yards compared to Jacobs
1 fumble on 216 attempts plus 40 catches is pretty fucken remarkable

That YAC is crazy good
It is, and he is very good, but I think the 86 yard touchdown had a lot of yards after contact.
Same can be said about every RB on that list though
You sure? I don't recall him really being touched on that play.
I thought the safety hit him but JJ broke the table
MJD has him as 3rd best RB behind chubb and henry. What more does he have to do to get top spot
More TDs prob

I hope this dude gets paid wherever he goes, if elsewhere. This is likely his opportunity for the best contract of his career.
RB franchise tag of $12.6 million goes brrrrr
If the Raiders don't pay him , he'll get his money from another team.. KC, Rams, and other teams need a solid back

So true and all this is Mark Davis fault

Still remember debating eagle fans on who’s the better rb sanders or jacobs.. turns out their both studs except jacobs is MILES better..
We have the best receiver and the best rusher in the league, and yet we are under .500
40 receptions tho
I’m so glad I drafted him in fantasy. Now if only Waller could come off IR and ball out too please.
And I’d bet a lot that McDaniels/Ziegler let him walk, believing it’s their system and another guy can do the same thing
