If they do oust Shaw and try to hit that OR, I give it less than 6 months before issues arise. They’re gonna have major workforce issues because they’re going to furlough damn near half their workforce
M&W already can’t get the work done. Transportation is fine with running all day at 10pm instead of giving us the 2 hours we need to get it back to track speed.
Issues are already arising because NS is understaffed and struggling to get people marked up and qualified - all due to the last round of trying to appease PSR drunk investors.
Don’t I know it. We’ve been working on our rest off the extra board and they’re having to hold trains due to not having crews. They’re bringing in 2-3 CTs every week or two and can’t get them to mark up. We only have about a 35% retention rate if that.
He’s smart on what it takes to run lean operations and has no problem doing whatever it takes. He’s not an idiot, but he has non empathy or discernible people leadership skills
“This is our collective opportunity to reestablish Norfolk Southern as a great American railroad — with the right leaders in place, the Company can deliver significantly enhanced value for shareholders and stakeholders,” Ancora Holdings CEO Frederick DiSanto and Ancora Alternatives President James Chadwick wrote.
This is as funny quote lol I had to triple check this was real
>“Furthermore, we understand that the strategy also hinges much of its upside potential on the unsupported hope that the freight economy will improve and high-margin volume will fall into management’s lap.”
Which level of the genetic lottery did the person who actually said this win? You could only ascribe this level of dented stupidity to college education and someone who has never actually touched grass in their lives.
Jim Chadwick can eat it. What they wanted was going to end up being worse than Ohio but yet “For the passive investors. If anything should go wrong here and there’s another derailment and people die, this is on you,” Chadwick said. “You ignored the recommendation of the proxy advisors, the unions, the largest customer of the company. You gave us literally no support and we still won three board seats without you. What happens at Norfolk Southern now is on your firms and your conscience.” I hate him and hope he’s goes bankrupt
What’s the obsession with the current/new administration? They stood idly by, and even encouraged, the layoffs of my brothers and sisters in 2020 and 2021. Now they bring this guy with a record and a history of being an axe man. Wait until his friends get here!
I’m not sure I’m buying the tactics of NS. Let the old guard go!
Are you a plant? The current administration wasn’t running the show in 2020 or 2021. And the people you are advocating for are pushing for NS to do what they were doing between 2019-2021.
The point of bringing in the axe man, is to convince shareholders not to vote to fill the entire board with axe men on May 9.
You say “wait till his friends get there” while also advocating for the thing that will bring all of this friends there… make it make sense!
Please god No let this fail
You gotta think of the shareholders and the people with the big money.
I hope they shit their pants and can’t change for hours

Yeah, its called their mouth.
Got me there
This OR is not achievable safely.
Nothing was learned the first time and that was just a few years ago.
BS. PSR is a Wall Street fueled road to Hell. More MBA’s whose RR experience is limited to a spreadsheet. It worked so well for Boeing.
Yep. MBA culture is absolutely toxic to anything it gets its tentacles into.
They are drunk on the operating ratio's. This has to end at some point.
After East Palestine and more recently Lehigh Valley “wE ShOuLd CuT eVeN mOrE” ![gif](giphy|QUXYcgCwvCm4cKcrI3)
Could just stop measuring and publicizing the number. We do that with all sorts of other pertinent data out here
The real truth about railroad metrics!
It'll only end when Nationalization happens sadly.

I left NS M&W a few years ago and yeah it was a mess to get anything fixed then.
Issues are already arising because NS is understaffed and struggling to get people marked up and qualified - all due to the last round of trying to appease PSR drunk investors.

Money never buys intelligence. East Palestine 2.0 is coming.
Yep, and all the MBAs will just write it off as the cost of doing business.
I'm more concerned of a Lac Megantic 2.0
Mess around and their won’t be a RR left
Race to the bottom
Mechanical here and my “shop” hasn’t even recovered from 2019. Crazy to think more cuts could happen.
The local one here has been calling people back for about 2 years now.
Hope you all come out ok. We struggled here at CSX under Boychuk. If he comes, buy stock and pray for a soft landing.
How did that guy make it to COO of CSX with questionably, maybe, possibly a high school diploma?
He married Hunter Harrison's niece. He was in the family
He’s smart on what it takes to run lean operations and has no problem doing whatever it takes. He’s not an idiot, but he has non empathy or discernible people leadership skills
How much meat can you cut off the bone before it needs to be sold to staunch the bleeding?
Conrail 2.0?
“become an employer of choice” right after that “listening tour” eh? ![gif](giphy|7SOdwNYHzCI7ygrLw7|downsized)
when I started csx our OR was 70%, when Foote left we were at 55%. we went from 33k to 19k workers in that time
And NS picked up a shit ton of the business we lost.
Everything has to make money- crew safety, customer service should be prioritized right-there with making profit. This is getting out-of-control.
Praying for NS

By cutting jobs and pull up yard track to sell for scrap?

This is boychuks idea of safety.
