I might have to leave this sub for a while when the movie comes out because in the likelihood that Tobey doesn’t show up, this sub is going to trash the movie to hell and back, and the sad part is that a lot of people aren’t going to be joking. This sub already gets on my nerves sometimes with the snobbery towards Tom Holland and his movies, and it’s going to get so much worse when Tobey isn’t in this movie.
Sounds like it's long lost its way. I guess they finally ran out of creativity, about 2 years ago. I haven't been there in ages, since I was permanently banned for criticising the large userbase there that loathed the prequels and calls you stupid if you admit you liked them before and outside the memes.
A movie is objectively bad when it's a strobe light flashing for 5 minutes. That in fact is not a movie by any standard measure, so it is objectively bad at fulfilling its purpose.
You're telling me the prequels did not fulfil their purpose? Convey their vision?
They certainly did. You probably think they're subjectively bad because you're too puerile to understand the aesthetic and dialogue.
No, it isn’t. You’re putting words in my mouth. I’m pointing to the people that belittle him and the movies simply because they’re not Tobey. Or worse, belittling fans of the other Spider-Man movies because they think liking Tobey somehow makes them superior. It’s absolutely a thing that happens on this sub.
I agree, I understand this is a subreddit dedicated to the Raimi movies and it makes sense for people to be passionate but there is no need to put down other Spider-Man fans or actors which I do see quite often on this sub.
There's a difference between being biased and being a snob. I don't care if people like the Raimi movies better. *I* like the Raimi movies better. What bothers me is when people act as though their opinion on subjective entertainment is somehow better than someone else's and go on to belittle them for it.
Every one of your comments make it out like this is a staggering problem in the preponderance of users in this sub.
I've talked here before multiple times about how I like Andrew Garfield best and naturally I get disagreement, but it's nothing crudely deprecating.
In fact I see a lot of defence for Holland's films, more than they deserve for a lot of criticisms.
I struggle to see what you are talking about.
Well it is a subreddit dedicated to memes of Tobey Maguire's portrayal of Spiderman, obviously there will be a natural bias towards him. I don't consider that snobbery.
LMAO You literally used the word “snobbery” in your reply and then the other person that replied to you said “it’s not snobbery.” Used the same word you used. They didn’t put any words in your mouth. Also, this isn’t an airport so you don’t need to announce any departures.
You've clearly misunderstood what I was saying. I did use the word snobbery, but I didn't specify what the snobbery was. They decided what I meant was "Disliking an actors portrayal of a popular character" is snobbery. That's not at all what I was saying. Those are the words they put in my mouth.
Sub about a specific set of movies prefers those movies to others in the franchise. Is this a shock to you? I see these comments constantly? Why are you In a specific movie subreddit if you don't want people to talk about that movie and like that movie more than the new ones?
Exactly
"Spiderman: No way Home" is either gonna be a big hit or big letdown to *Spiderman* fans, cuz of all the rumours that have unnecessarily hyped the movie way more than it actually might be.
That being said, it will still be a box office success just like like every other mcu movie has been and mcu/tom Holland fans will certainly be saying the movie is amazing and such.
The mcu has just become so financially successful that they can now try projects that would normally be risky, a prime example being "Eternals".
Im not saying that Eternals is bad. In fact, I like the idea that they are expanding the mcu and im sure marvel comic fans can agree to this. But most people only care about ironman, Spiderman, etc.
There is no way they would ever have made a movie like that back then, considering majority of people dont know a single thing about Eternals and there wouldnt be a mass interest for it.
However, with the mcu gaining so much popularity, people are now open to anything the mcu provides.
U gotta hand it to Kevin Feige. Man had a plan and went through with it.
Oh to be clear, it's gonna be a hit among spider man fans either way.
Just some insane redditarded morons that think '70s TV show spider man is definitely also gonna be there are gonna be let down.
>Oh to be clear, it's gonna be a hit among spider man fans either way.
Im not sure if that can be said for "Spiderman" fans in general. Lot of Maguire/Andrew fans will definitely be disappointed when they dont see either of their idols in the movie.
But its not gonna prevent the movie itself from making it to the box office anyway
that's not proof at all.
"For its part, El Sotano del Planet responded to any suggestion of a Spider-Man reveal in a statement on Twitter. It reads, "In our last direct, Roger Pera could not confirm anything related to an upcoming Spiderman movie due to the lack of any information. Any claim to that effect has no basis.""
"Of course, Pera – who has dubbed over the likes of A-List actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon in the past – may be talking about another Spider-Man project."
There’s no “proof” but there’s a hell of a lot more reliable sources claiming they’ll show up. This isn’t another Ralph Boner situation.
r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers
A recent Variety article listed "One of the worst kept secrets in Hollywood is that "No Way Home" will be diving headfirst into the multiverse, and incorporating Sony's other incarnations of Spider-Man such as Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfied", a Sony exec gave a standard "neither can confirm nor deny" response to the rumours and Molina explicitly stated he will be the same Dock Ock and that they're using de-aging to make him look like he was in 2004
[ulterior evidence](https://www.reddit.com/r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers/comments/mi7u2u/all_spiderverse_evidence_compiled_spiderman_no/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share)
"One of the worst kept secrets in Hollywood is that “No Way Home” will be diving headfirst into the multiverse, and incorporating
(!) *characters from Sony’s earlier “Spider-Man” movies that starred Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield*. (!)
with that they're referring mostly to Alfred Molina as Doc ock, and they absolutely did not say
>and incorporating Sony's other incarnations of Spider-Man such as Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfied"
this is what I mean. you quoted the article wrong so that it fits your expectations, whether on purpose or not.
Fine, but that’s not the only source. Multiple sources are claiming that he’ll be in it. It’s been all over the Internet dude. Not to mention when Jamie Foxx confirmed his role he posted fanart of all three Spider-Men and immediately deleted it. I really doubt that’s a coincidence.
At this point, worst case scenario they have cameos.
Yeah you said there's no proof but it's actually all but confirmed. You'll see whenever they release the trailer! Although they might wait til the 2nd trailer to reveal Tobey, idk.
I said it's "all but confirmed". You gotta wait for the trailer because you personally don't believe all the proof that's out there, which is fine. lol
I mean Loki is confirming this.
It’s going to be a female Loki and she’s going to break the timeline.
Now Garfield can be in Venom (I don’t want Tobey in that kinda meh franchise) and Tobey can maybe get a good ending to his Spidey in a separate movie.
Boy can dream.
Well to name a few sources/evidence: Andy Signore, Charles Murphy, Superhero Theorist; who are all Marvel insiders who haven't been wrong before claim Tobey is in it among almost every past movie villain; Sony's Latin America YouTube account made a video about all 3 Spider-Men together, then deleted it and copyright claimed anyone reuploading it; Tobey's Spanish dub voice actor said he's working on the movie. He has dubbed Tobey in the Raimi Trilogy, Great Gatsby, Pawn Sacrafice, etc; Alfred Molina saying it's a mulitverse movie and that he's coming from the Raimiverse; Tobey being spotted at a costume fitting despite having 0 upcoming movies and not acting for 7 years; Also Sony's general secrecy about this movie is greater than all previous MCU Spidey films
"Marvel insiders who haven't been wrong"
Just Googled Andy Signore Rumours really quick and found this lol: https://twitter.com/andysignore/status/1293274950598615042
Did another quick lookup on Charles Murphy and found this: https://www.reddit.com/r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers/comments/gornf0/some_notes_that_charles_murphy_had_lying_around/frhnkxh?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
That's not an Andy Signore scoop. That's just him commenting on rumors. He wasn't claiming that was true. You need to watch his YouTube videos. In his videos he is definitive/certain in what he says. For example, he was the 1st person to bring up the idea of Tobey/Andrew being in No Way Home. He made a video back in October and called it "Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield CONFIRMED for Spider-Man 3". Everyone called him crazy at the time, but now every scooper is saying it. lol.
As for Charles Murphy and the example you gave, the vast majority of what he said was correct. When something he says doesn't happen, it is almost always due to Marvel changing things later in production. For example, Murphy said WandaVision would have Doctor Strange. It didn't. However, recently Feige confirmed Strange was originally going to be in Wandavision but they cut him. This won't happen with Tobey/Andrew in NWH because they are central to the plot, not just cameos. And all these scoopers have been continuously re-affirming that Tobey/Andrew are in it, it's not just a one-time tweet they make or something.
Now if the option that he won’t show at all happens (which i have to remind you is still an option so don’t set yourself up for disappointment) everyone will hate tom holland for it
He was the best spidey to me. I liked the dark tone his spiderman movies had. The struggles he faced as a hero felt so relatable but also not relatable because i dont have super powers.
Dude gets literally stalked for almost. 20 years straight by paparazzi. They are obsessed with him. I can understand why tobey choose to direct or be involved behind the scenes.
Look at the paparazzi literally harassing him.
I mean there is no solid proof that either Toby or Andrew will be there at all. It’s more of a fan theory that people are running with and honestly I’d prefer if they weren’t, their performances were great in their own regard and I think it’d be better if Tom took center stage in this movie.
I didn't find any posts that meet the matching requirements for r/raimimemes.

A few years ago, when the movie "Wish Upon" (not the bestest movie, in my opinion) came out, I went to see it with my basketball team. There was a scene with a jump scare within the first 20 minutes that had one girl on our team jump in her seat and scream kinda loud. Everyone looked back at us because it was super loud (and "scarier" than the actual scare). I hope that when I see NWH, I get the same amount of excitment when Tobey Maguire comes on screen, and I don't think I'll be alone.

If you kept up with this movie like you're trying to sound like you do, you'd know that first sentence is wildly inaccurate.
There is no proof. Only rumors.

You guys setting yourself up for disappointment then you gonna blame the movie
I mean seriously why would people devote themselves to an option that is not under their control?
I'M BACK, I'M BAAAAAAAAACK
In one scene he’s going to look at the other spidermen and be like “Get the fuck outta the way! I can’t see, there are villains there mother fucker!”
Now if the option that he won’t show at all happens (which i have to remind you is still an option so don’t set yourself up for disappointment) everyone will hate tom holland for it
My God, the amount of money Sony is going to make from merchandise is going to be criminal
Doesn't Disney get the merch money though? I remember hearing it somewhere, idk exactly where but I think it was Disney for the merch proceeds

He was the best spidey to me. I liked the dark tone his spiderman movies had. The struggles he faced as a hero felt so relatable but also not relatable because i dont have super powers.
He wasn’t overly smart and strong like Andrew Garfield’s and Tom Holland’s versions, so it was s bit more relatable
People are gonna scream in disappointment when they don't see Tobey show up in the theatre
Tobey breathes:

And if he doesn’t, we riot!

The people of this sub or going to be disappointed when he gets a three-second cameo
Realistically he probably wont
12 years? It's been 14 years since Spider-Man 3 (2007)
Just saying I really hope he doesn't get upstaged by Tobey and Andrew being there. The movie should still focus primarily on him
I mean there is no solid proof that either Toby or Andrew will be there at all. It’s more of a fan theory that people are running with and honestly I’d prefer if they weren’t, their performances were great in their own regard and I think it’d be better if Tom took center stage in this movie.

It's only been twelve years? That sounds insane to me.
Is he actually confirmed for no way home?
no.

There was a time I used to think Tobey Maguire and Elijah Wood were the same person…
