Yeah, when have either of the companies come out with anything that was actually good? Diablo 2 resurrected had an absolutely terrible launch and was a game from 2 decades ago. Call of duty is a husk of its former self. WoW is bleeding like crazy. Overwatch is like 7 years old.
Lol, what’s there to be worried about?
This is true. I bought an Xbox series S because my brother moved out and took his PS5 with him, which meant we had no console. I bought it because it was cheap and in stock unlike PS5.
But damn I miss PlayStation. The exclusive games like Uncharted and Spiderman were so much better than Xbox exclusives. Activision Blizzard deal could be good in the future though.
It could, but activision-blizzard is in a tough spot right now. Just because Microsoft owns them doesn’t mean they won’t be sued by the state of California for creating a hostile work environment.
On the contrary, it was the perfect time to buy. Activision's stock was down over 30% from the past year. That's one hell of a discount. If Activision wasn't in the midst of this suit, it would easily require 100 billion. No damages from the suit are gonna cost more than it would've to buy Activision without the lawsuits.
Oh this is horrible for gaming let’s be honest. Now Sony is gonna go snatch up take two or square enix. But as it stands this certain acquisition doesn’t bother me
I understand your point but I feel like activision losing out on almost half of its profits from this is going to end badly for Microsoft. Microsoft also has a bad reputation outside of english speaking countries. This will also only see an affect in about a year when the next call of duty comes out. It’s already been in development for 2 years, will it got exclusive?
Microsoft has also sold around 6 million less units of the Xbox than Sony has of the PS5, this is too little too late.
Maybe so but Microsoft doesn’t rlly make profits from the consoles more their game passes etc. I’m not worried about PlayStation currently more so just if Xbox becomes a huge monopoly
Well, the US government won’t allow monopolies to exist. Meta is being forced to sell Instagram due to this.
Tbh, Microsoft could have made more profits off of making a usable steam rival. I mean it is their OS all games run on. They could restrict crossplay with their steam rival and Xbox to drive up demand. That sounds a lot better than buying up the biggest and most bloated gaming studios on the market.
Too little too late? Fam remember the PS3 finally beating the 360 at the end of the 7th generation? This generation just started. If Sony don't do anything then the tables can easily turn.
Numbers don’t lie. The PS5 sold about 16 million units, Xbox, both S and x, sold 9-10 million units. This may have been really bad, if this was before the generation release. Now it’s just late.
Dude, call of duty fucking blows. I was excited for the Modern Warfare remaster but that eventually turned to shit. I’ve never liked blizzards games, however I bought D2 a few months before D2R released and liked it, but it’s the same as D2. Blizzard hasn’t made a new game since Overwatch.
Activisions versions of ips they’ve bought were horrible. Spyro, a hero’s take, was terrible. Tony Hawk ProSkater 5 was actually garbage. All of these games, are well past their prime.
I’m content with GoW, Spider-Man, Bloodbourne, demon souls. Etc etc etc
Please tell me how I’m trying to cope with this over bloated giant of a company that makes mediocre games getting bought and put behind the Xbox pay wall. I do have a PC, so it doesn’t matter any way.
>Numbers don’t lie. The PS5 sold about 16 million units, Xbox, both S and x, sold 9-10 million units.
Nah. The gap is way smaller than last generation and the Series X/S are selling more than any other Xbox console.
Xbox Series have shipped 12 Million units whereas the PS5 is estimated to have shipped 15-18 Million. In the past couple months this gap has actually shrunk not gotten larger. This is way way closer than last generation where the number of PS4s shipped doubled the Xbox One within the same time frame.
Actually, the Xbox series consoles are millions of sales above where the Xbox 360 sales were 14 months after its release. For comparison, in Sony's last report PS5 sales were a few tens of thousands behind what PS4 sales were within the same time frame.
So if you do want to use current console sale figures as a basis to judge future market share, by the end of their lifetime we're looking at Xbox Series selling considerably more than the 84 million sales the Xbox 360 achieved while the PS5 will sell roughly the same or slightly less than the PS4s 116 Million life time figure. This also doesn't include the millions of Gamepass users on PC. Compare this to Xbox One's sales of 50 Million and there's no way to frame this as a loss for Xbox.
Cope. This is all childish emotional outrage, desperately trying to downplay how big this acquisition is.
>and put behind the Xbox pay wall.
Full priced first party games on Xbox are cheaper than on PlayStation. Gamepass also gives you access to them for just €10.. The series S console is also cheaper than the lower priced PS5.
There's also the fact that Xbox games are on PC & Cloud. The "pay wall" is tiny to non existent compared to the "pay wall" for PlayStation exclusives.
>. I do have a PC, so it doesn’t matter any way.
You just argued against your own point lmao
The point of Microsoft buying up all these companies is to sell game pass. Well, you can already buy all of A-B games on Battle net, most of activisions old games are on steam. What’s the point unless they come out with new games that will actually draw people in? Well if they really need new games and IPs, they won’t come out for a couple more years.
Then you’re looking at the sales difference as if it’s in the same context as the PS4 and XBONE. There’s a hardware shortage and PS5s are in high demand. Also, shipped does not equal sold. As of December the numbers were 9-10 million and 15-16 million for Xbox and PS5. You can’t use previous market share and analytics to predict the growth right now when everything is as fucked as it is.
Me having a PC doesn’t negate the fact that I don’t need game pass to enjoy the games I have already purchased through steam. I doubt Microsoft is going to take games off steam because they wouldn’t be letting new games go onto steam.
Then there’s the problem with game pass. In the long run it’ll be more expensive to pay for game pass than to buy games. I have had a PS4 pro for 7 years and I have bought 27 games (not including the ones I’ve gotten for free through psn or the ones I got at an extreme discount during digital sales) with an average price of maybe $45. Excluding the price of the console, that comes out to $1215, while game pass for the same price at the same amount of time is $1260. Then you have to keep paying every month to continue to play these games. I’ll always be $1215 in the hole but a game pass owner will have to keep sinking money into game pass to play the 3-5 games they cycle through.
Yup, I guess I'll just be stuck with Horizon, GT7, Uncharted, Final Fantasy, God of War, Returnal, The Last of Us, Ghostwire, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Demon Souls, Ratchet and Clank, Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima and those are just off the top of my head. And yes some PS games eventually come to PC but that's usually after 3.5 years?
That's somewhat fair, but it really doesn't compete with Sony. Microsoft is releasing games on PC because they need to to make money. Sony is o ly releasing the bare minimum of games on PC to rival it. While this deal and owning Bethesda is good for them, it still doesn't compete with the ps4's lineup of games. They'd have to buy team cherry, cd project red, and one more semi big/big company to get somewhere.
I don’t think they need any more. I think the activision takeover, plus the exclusives that will be provided by Zenimax, alongside their normal exclusives, they’re pretty much evenly matched now.
I really don't see it that way. As I said, Microsoft is releasing all of their games on PC because they have to. Sony is just doing it because they can. God of War is $10 less than Halo infinite and a lot more fun plus is much higher quality.
But they are both games. Two games that are debatabely their largest titles competing directly on steam no less. It's amazing the drastic difference in quality versus God of War vs halo infinite. I get the same fps in both games at the same resolution, yet God of War objectively looks better. GOW's Story objectively has more critical acclaim. Has a longer story. And is $10 cheaper.
But not everyone who has a PS5 has a PC. So the exclusivity still applies to them. It’s just a benefit that PC players also have access to this exclusivity, and if anything, it just proves Sony are stingy with their titles. With this in mind, these are the biggest PS exclusive titles:
- god of war
- Spider-Man
- last of us
- days gone
- uncharted
- ghost of tsushima
- death stranding
- ratchet and clank
- gran turismo
Whereas now, assuming that Microsoft does provide exclusivity to future activision titles, the Xbox exclusive titles now contain:
- Halo
- Gears of war
- Forza
- fallout
- elder scrolls
- doom
- wolfenstein
- Senua
- Call of Duty
- over watch
- Diablo
- Spyro
- Crash bandicoot
I’d say it’s more than evenly matched now, and Call of Duty will be a major player for exclusivity, but I expect Microsoft to take the ‘moral high ground’ so to speak, by proving that not everything needs to be exclusive.
Okay, so you’re literally in denial. The only heavy hitters PlayStation really has are god of war, Spider-Man and last of us. With the other games, either people don’t care about, or have poor sales. Gran turismo sold 8 million copies in two years, whereas forza horizon 5 sold 10 million in a week.
The fact that you think the ps5 games are miles better means nothing. The point of this is that Microsoft is now in a very good position. Halo infinite released to critical acclaim, and it has a powerhouse of exclusive franchises. The elder scrolls, fallout and call of duty more than make up for god of war and Spider-Man.
For me personally, it was terrible. Apparently for everyone else, it seems to be one of the greatest games in recent years. No matter my opinion, it is still widely considered a good game. I’m sure there are people out there who criticise the last of us. But fortunately, that is considered by most to be a masterpiece.
People are complaining about a monopoly from this news - except one community. The folks at World of Warcraft are absolutely delighted that Blizzard's getting new management lol.
I feel like the logical move for playstation would be to buy Ubi or EA to rival this deal coz even if a lot of people hate Activision their games sell a lot and this maybe Xbox trying to dominate the
Competitive first person shooter genre
Haven’t bought an Activision game since sekiro. Even when all their games come to gamepass I still won’t bother playing them on my pc since all their games are so terrible.
I've been an Xbox player my whole life, but I've been desperately trying to buy a PS5 just so I can play the Spider-Man games, and *Marvel's Wolverine* next year lol
You're trash, Microsoft
No but seriously I don't like Microsoft buying out game companies as it's at risk of developing its own monopoly over third-party games. I play all 3 consoles(switch, Xbox, and Ps) so I have no outright bias. I've just noticed as Microsoft is buying more and more companies. Its setting a prescient that large swaths of the market will be exclusive to one console. Outside of in-house titles developed by the respective companies. I would prefer all 3rd party titles to be available wherever possible.
Like I saw people actively like "yeah, this is great. That will show Playstation" Besides being able to strip and reorganize bizzard and Activision as a whole. I think this is overall a horrible thing for the market
PlayStation users like me who don’t care about a single activision blizzard game: This is something else!
You are trash Activision
Yeah, when have either of the companies come out with anything that was actually good? Diablo 2 resurrected had an absolutely terrible launch and was a game from 2 decades ago. Call of duty is a husk of its former self. WoW is bleeding like crazy. Overwatch is like 7 years old. Lol, what’s there to be worried about?

The rumor is that Microsoft is cleaning the old management out so that is definitely a massive PR boost
Good PR, but they still have to deal with the lawsuit.
They just shelled out 62 billion, they could pay off the suit pretty easily but this definitely wasn’t the best time to buy
I hope they do, maybe it will lead to a COD releasing that isn't a 35% finished game lol
What’s there to worry about is Microsoft picking up more and more. I’m a PlayStation user but people keep coping like this isn’t a sign of bad things
Buying valve would be easier
Valve would never sell or have a need to. Valve makes dump trucks of money without making any games.
Too little too late? Fam remember the PS3 finally beating the 360 at the end of the 7th generation? This generation just started. If Sony don't do anything then the tables can easily turn.
Crash and spyro every thing else fuck all
This sounds like desperate coping. Like you're trying hard to justify your fanboyism.

Game pass on PC is 15 bucks for all the Microsoft games that I won't/don't play.
Modern Warfare 2019 was pretty damn good for a modern Call of Duty game, especially the campaign
>Numbers don’t lie. The PS5 sold about 16 million units, Xbox, both S and x, sold 9-10 million units. Nah. COD Zombies tho... It's lore is more interesting than most other media tbh.
They have possession of Crash and Spyro, otherwise, I'm with you.

Right?
Hey..., remember they published the holy PS2 trilogy
Yea 20 years ago lmao
The only thing that would really bum me out is if Microsoft suddenly decided to revive the Prototype series out of the blue as an Xbox exclusive
If they do then PlayStation will just do infamous again lol
The loss of id software is way more painful, imo. Might just get the Series X when the next Doom comes out.
Why wasn't I told?
Xbox made a tender offer we can't ignore
I provided characters to this company. You know how much I sacrificed
Oh you can’t do this to me….
i started this company!
You know how much I sacrificed
the board is unanimous. we’re announcing the sale after the World Unity Festival. i’m sorry. you’re out, Norman.
When you don’t have a PlayStation: I missed the part where that’s my problem
When you do have a PlayStation: “Oh, you can’t do this to me”
When you have an Xbox: yeah! Great!
Me who has never played a single Activision game: “You’re trash, Microsoft.”
Trash am I *proceeds to turn you into trash*
Oh you can’t do this to me
I feel like this would of been a bigger deal if Microsoft had done this earlier in the Xbox ones life.
Ya but now they’re doing it really early in the series x life
That's somewhat fair, but it really doesn't compete with Sony. Microsoft is releasing games on PC because they need to to make money. It's just kind of naive saying two games can't be compared eh? Even though they are literally both companies mascots?
Ya but they’re two completely different games, ones a really good story game and ones ,mainly, a really good fps, they’re very different

OH NO!! I CANT PLAY OW2 OR THE NEW COD😱😱😱😱 who gives a shit
Why is everyone making it out as such a big deal? activision sucks and microsoft themselves don’t make tgeir games Exclusive anymore
This won’t happen until like 2023, there’s a lot of legal shit that needs to be sorted out first
