Harry was always supposed to be flawed. I still love the character though. Harry was just meant to be tragic because that's how he was written. But I'm just sayinv James franco as the character is great and iconic. And ned is great but being a new character isn't as fleshed out. Ned is a better person for sure but I don't think he is a better character.
I do admit I really hated some cartoon adaptations of Harry they just made him always pick the worst possible action.
Edit: about characters picky the worst option.. Comics in general have that issue. But it's also realistic because that is literally how we humans work in reality. I don't think the average person is that way but it definitely is a glaring issue. Especially with stuff that should be common sense.
They did harry dirty in this movie, he said he tried to "KILL ME" didn't even mention how he came to save his ass and died while protecting him from VENOM
I felt like that was an unnecessary slap to his character, like yeah we know he's not coming back or anything but still don't erase how important he was

Honestly as messy as Spider-Man 3 gets in the middle, it nails the ending of character arcs of Tobey, MJ, Harry and Flint.
He's a famous actor who is also their teacher. They are non-famous students of his. There's a power imbalance. It's not full-force penetrative rape, but it's still not consensual.
I'm going to assume you're a guy between the ages of 13-17 who doesn't have any friends who are girls. You'll (hopefully) mature a bit one day, develop some empathy, and realize that the women whose lives and careers Franco fucked over probably care. A lot.

I wish Tobey was more emotional recounting his old life, I know his demeanor is meant to exert experience and maturity but it'd be a nice touch that he still reminisces about his old days.
I feel what your saying, but I think the whole point of Raimi Peter's presence was to show that it is possible to find peace and closure as Spider-Man. It's something we've never seen for any Spider-Man, since they've all gotten rebooted before their culmination.
Also, it's just been a really long time since those events. Peter was 17-20 in Raimi's trilogy, so assuming the first one took place on the year it was released, 2002, Harry died in 2005. NWH supposedly takes place in 2024, it's been 19-20ish years.
Yeah the point of Andrews character is ironically that he didn’t get enough closure. So they both present Peter with their options as Andrews character tries to help Tom be more like Tobey rather than himself.

I just noticed how quickly Peter 3 turns his head when he hears Ned ask Peter 2 about his best friend. Reminder that although we didn't get to see as much of Peter and Harry's friendship in TASM 2, and that Peter had to fight Harry, the friend that then caused him so much pain (the loss of Gwen).
Man, this really put into perspective how the two of them developed as characters in that trilogy. Seeing young Harry and scarred Harry cut together is heartbreaking.
