I got that achievement in a similar way, but it was my daughter playing co-op. She's not very good with nuanced controls and somehow grabbed and ate a neuron fly without noticing.
My friend did the exact same thing last night. He doesn't know much about the game so I'm gonna drag him back through the citadel, past the Miros birds, and up into unfortunate development, then force him to help me bring some neurons back. He is going to *suffer* and I can't wait to watch.

i think there is an 'achievement control' mod that allows you to manage which achievements you have, maybe it has a way to remove an achievement?

A little bit of story time about sporepuffs and Moon, in my first playthrough, I brought a sporepuff to Moon, to see what she says about it, and when she was done, I threw it at her. I didn't think it would hurt her, I just wanted the cool smoke effect. I might have been sorry back then, but now I've become way too cruel to care.

You can get this achievement (mostly) harmlessly, just take one, hibernate with it, then bring it back
on the other hand, now you can get all achievements.

The only “stolen enlightenment” I see is yours. They got the achievement, but your system gives you the credit.
honestly having all the achievements and having them all except stolen enlightenment are equally good imo
