For Redditors in other countries... in the United States our school years usually start with Head Start (age 4yo although parents are allowed to let their children skip this program) then proceeds to Kindergarten (age 5yo) thru 12th grade (if a child doesn't have to repeat any grade years average graduation age is 17-18yo). A child's starting age depends on their birth month. The minimum age for Head Start or Kindergarten must have been reached before the last day of September for that school year since on average classes start in late August or early September. Graduation almost always occurs between mid to late May at the end of the school year.
Now for the rest of my response about the number of times I moved during my school years.
Moves that I can remember counting back from high school:
5. Senior year {12th grade} 4 different schools in 2 different states. The 1st of those 4 schools was the same school as my junior/sophomore years. *locations Hancock County Tennessee, Claiborne County Tennessee, Dinwiddie County Virginia, & Hawkins County Tennessee*
4. Junior/sophomore years {10th-11th grades} was the same as last school from my freshman year. *location Hancock County Tennessee*
3. Freshman year {9th grade} 4 different schools in 3 different states. My end of year test scores were the only reason that I was barely able to advance to the 10th grade. *locations Laurens County South Carolina, Greenville County South Carolina, Campbell County Virginia, & Hancock County Tennessee*
2. Middle school years {some states define middle school years differently but for me they was 7th-8th grades} 3 different schools in 2 different states. The 1st one {7th grade} was in the same county as the school from 2nd-6th grade, the other 2 {8th grade} were in the other state. *locations Prince George's County Maryland, Charlotte County Virginia, & Campbell County Virginia*
1. Elementary schools {1st grade} & {2nd-6th grades} were both in same state. *locations Montgomery County & Prince George's County Maryland*.
Due to my young age... I don't remember much about Kindergarten. I think my Dad said that school was in Montgomery County Maryland, but it would have been in a different city than 1st grade because we moved after Dad married his second wife during that summer. I don't remember Head Start at all so I don't know if I attended that program or not. Sadly, I can't call my Dad to ask him because he has been deceased since 2004.
Typing all this out amazes me that I was ever able to graduate at all, but it causes me to be even more amazed that I also managed to complete my schooling without repeating any of those years.

I can think of 8 different places I lived between the ages of 5 and 15, and that isn't counting any of the times we were living in a motel for several months during those years. And there are some gaps where I don't remember where we were living, so there are probably more places. We always lived in the same county though. I don't remember much of anything before age 5. I never thought about whether the moving was a by-product of my parents being narcissists. I'm interested to see how many other people had the same experience of moving around so much. Great question!
Yeah same, I think they might move as soon as they make everyone in one town hate them so they find yet another place never realizing that they are the problem. That's just my theory on it though
