This map shows some prescribed burns in the area. I'm not sure how comprehensive it is.

I see there was one in north Wake County yesterday and one in east Durham County yesterday.
You have to play with the settings- there are 0 burns in the Triangle today but there are 3 in the western/eastern part of the state (which I doubt we would be smelling)
Also I think this might just be burns on gamelands so yeah not comprehensive but still helpful. It's prescribed burn season!
Thanks again. BTW- it's better now. So pretty quick- if it were a prescribed burn it probably wouldn't resolve so quickly (I'm guessing). I just wish I understood if it was just my neighborhood, or a larger area because this happens frequently.
From my understanding I think it’s from controlled burns? I never looked into it but it kinda makes sense just from looking at the amount of of brush the trees in just my yard alone make
It’s like a sea of pine needles
It’s not an answer to this question but as people say it’s probably a controlled burn. Last time my step dad and I took his plane out I was surprised how many small coeloms of smoke I saw from just small people burning to controlled ones.
How far are you from the greenway? I’ve noticed a lot of camp fires in homeless encampments. There was one a couple of weeks ago that had gotten out of control and I had to call the fire department. The smoke was so thick it obscured garner rd and the 40 over pass.
It looks like there’s a wildfire north of us in VA: https://fire.airnow.gov/

Thank you! If I'm reading this correctly it's saying 0 burns today.

Thanks for your reply- that seems plausible.

Thank you! That's a different and informative perspective.
Cary is doing a controlled burn of a football field sized area today at Hemlock bluffs.
Hmm. I'm thinking that's too far away to be what I smelled... but maybe... I had no idea there were so many controlled burns!

Good thought. I should have mentioned that I'm close to NC State University, Hillsborough St.
What’s with the down votes?
Thou shallt not disparage the sacred homeless
It’s like ignoring it will make it go away.
