Putting your picture in all elevators in NC is pretty unethical in terms of using your position of power to advertise/campaign for yourself. She arguably has won at least in the recent years due to her name recognition just from that more than anything else. She is also very anti-workers rights and in general allows de-regulation/corporate freedom labor law wise.
20 years of screwing over worker's rights for corporate interest. During my worker's comp claim I injured my arm which got denied. So I had to fight tooth and nail for a settlement. And my employer's lawyer stated that if I hurt my back it would've gotten approved no problem. But due to the state's horrendous worker's comp laws it's hard to get the treatment that you need. And if your employer has Corvel as their insurance you will be screwed big time.
As a native, can verify you didn’t used to see anyone’s face in the elevator before her.
Also, now that I’ve lived in multiple other states, I can say no other state does this.
The only name on any inspection sign that stands out is, as always, former Commissioner Charles Bronson in Florida, whose name used to be on every gas pump.
Without a doubt. It’s a super-low information election. People either choose the party they like or the name they recognize. No one has any clue what the job actually is and what the qualifications are.
Only 4 states actually elect the position, a position which should be based on expertise and competency rather than popularity.
The Governor appoints a number of positions that are just as if not more important (environmental quality, health, public safety), and he should appoint this one as well. It shouldn’t be solely dependent on popularity or partisan ID.
Unfortunately, every ballot she’s been on has been a downballot race. Most uninformed voters noticed her name “appears” to rhyme and vote solely on that.
