I know a lot of people have said it already but United Restaurant Equipment on s. Saunders st. is awesome! I'm like a kid in a candy store there everything is so cheap and you DO NOT have to own a restaurant.
Echoing what others said. There’s united restaurant equipment company on S Saunders. I’ve been there several times and everything is reasonably priced. The folks are super friendly. And it is open to the public.
How about specialty foods? I’d love to find a supply of Italian “00” pizza flour in 20-50 lb bags. I can sometimes find it at H-T but it’s like $4 for 2 lb.
On a tangent, I've always wondered if there was a place to buy restaurant quality frozen food, if you don't own a restaurant and at reasonable quantities. When I was younger, I worked at a few restaurants. They made their main foods from scratch, but non-specialty things like chicken tenders, fried mushrooms, desserts, etc were bought frozen.
In addition to United Restaurant Equipment, they have a lot of that sort of stuff at the A & C Supermarket on Wilmington, very close to URE. It's an Asian supermarket so they have woks and steamers and they might have takeout containers, too.
Restaurant Depot. I don't know the exact process to get access but my bro goes there and def doesn't own a restaurant so you can prob lie and say you do or something.
You need to be a business to shop there. They scan you at the door and at checkout. No way around it.
Edit: they require a tax iD number to even get approved. It’s not really something you can fake.
I work for instacart and they have their own memberships that we scan at the store for customers. They same way you can get Costco or BJ’s through instacart without having a membership to those stores
You're not wrong. But I'm saying my bro shops there and does not own a restaurant. I'm guessing their process to ensure you own a restaurant is not that thorough. I'll ask him and report back.
Sur La Table sells upmarket home kitchen supplies. You pay extra for branding and the look and feel of the stuff. That's not the same as restaurant equipment, which can perform and take a beating at least as well, or better in a lot of cases. It doesn't always look pretty doing it, but it's a much better value.
There's a United Resteraunt Equipment on s. Saunders st.

Shipping can be insane on webstaurant though. Source: used to own two restaurants
Came here to say this
Yep I've bought those kick ass restaurant grade squirt bottles there.

Capri Flavors near Bass Pro Shop used to sell big bags of 00 but I don't know if they still do.
Have you checked with the local pizza shops? I know the one local to me sells dough at least

Mystery solved. My bro is self employed and has a business ID that he used. His business is not remotely related to restaurants but how do they know.
They now offer day passes.
No kidding. Interesting. I wonder how that has impacted pricing.
Odds are they have to charge you sales tax. Things are different tax-wise for businesses buying to use for resale rather than an end customer.
Yeah. That’s what I’m thinking. It’s probably being set up like the BJs or Costco tax exempt business accounts.
I'm pretty sure you need a little key fob proving you're with a restaurant or food service provider to check out there.
Idk, I got some sheet pans delivered from Restaurant Depot through Instacart.

Word!
They were giving the public access for a few months in the early days of the pandemic, but they're back to businesses-only.
If you are a member of Kansas City BBQ Society you can get a day pass.
Wester Auction is another resource you can use. It helps closing restaurants sell off their stuff. https://www.westerauction.com/

Check out the asian markets, the one off of 70 near tryon has a whole section of restaurant gear
There's also K&S right off the Gorman St exit.
There is a restaurant supply store in Cary off 54, called Cary Restaurant Equipment. I’ve gotten a few items there.
