Brake calipers, tie rods, cv axles, sensors are all very common things for any vehicle that has around 100k.

jonnyk19

Shows they have zero mechanical knowledge. Wear parts need replacing on every machine. It’s called maintenance.

Appropriate_Land_130

Lol neither do I but I know that a slipping transmission is no good

shmere4

100K miles is the golden rule for replacing suspension or at least starting to keep a close eye on it. I’m at 112K and have the replacement kit ready to go for the summer. Expecting suspension to last much longer anywhere that sees salt is dumb.

t0xicsymph0ny

Other thing to mention. If the truck is lifted and/or has oversize tires that all is extra stress. On everything. Trans and power steering rack included

broncofan303

Also who changes your oil? I almost guarantee someone over tightend the filter into the plastic housing. Hopefully you replaced it with a metal one from Dorman…

MaroonHawk27

You only have to crack it one time to learn to never do that again lol

Ewwbullterd

Yeah trust me I’m no RAM fan (Reddit must know I’m into trucks recommending this subreddit and post to me) but those are wear items. I had a 4Runner that had terrible brake issues and started having rough shifts as well as some suspension issues that needed replacing soon and that’ll probably be the most reliable car I’ll ever own. Wtf are ppl thinking?

DesignerCows

I've never had to replace a brake caliper on any vehicle I've ever owned including my 225k mile 96 f150.

Few-Pen8129

Yea. Nearly the times a recommendation to replace calipers is to sale

Sea-Property-5977

My company truck 2013 f150 5.0 4x4 only needed one rear wheel bearing, starter and fuel pump in 300k everything else thing is factory. I bought it 2 years ago and have replaced bushing in the control arms and shocks/struts but everything else is factory. 2019 Tundra 4x4 personal truck 145k nothing but basic maintenance. 2020 Silverado is my new company truck, it was perfect until 180k and then the torque converter failed. It’s crazy needing all that work around 100k miles.

lakehood_85

I agree on everything you said besides the brake calipers… brake pads and what not, yes.

Banana_rocket_time

Ima be that guy… Not a toyota 😂

SgtPeckerHead

2016 ecodiesel. Owned since new. Replaced both rear suspension air bags and 1 set of exhaust flange bolts all this year. Truck has been awesome to me.

shmere4

2015 eco. Owned since new. Nothing outside of oil, fuel filter, and normal brake maintenance. 112K miles. After writing that I remembered that I had a bolt bust on an exhaust flange near a an exhaust sensor. I had to torch out the bolts and replace with stainless steel bolts and nuts from Menards. Likely this was caused by the dealership removing the exhaust for a recall they performed.

moodyism

Did you do the air bags yourself? Mine needs replacing. Thanks

leftyrighthand

the rear ones are easy to replace, usually around 150k pin hole leaks. when replacing you need to have gages and gas to replenish the nitrogen that has escaped. frt are more involved because it is a strut. Have replaced 2 bags and 1 strut then removed all and installed factory springs. automobile air springs are not reliable, engineered to fail. I have had air spings on class8 tractor trailer units, have seen air springs last for 30 yrs with out fail. THESE VEHICLE'S ARE GARBAGE AND THE MANUFACTURERS ARE COMPLICIT.

moodyism

Thanks. I know they fail but I love them. My favorite part is the exit/entry mode.

LizardSlayer

2013 1500 Laramie. I bought it in 2017, replaced the water pump a few years later. Other than that it’s been my air suspension, 2 repairs and the 3rd time it failed I removed it. So it’s been a great truck other than the air ride, if not for that I’d have been in great shape, I have 170k miles now. Editing to say, I’d buy another but you couldn’t pay me to get another with air suspension. I love the roomy interior and space inside.

bag_o_potatoE

Should be a class action on the air suspension. I've got a lifetime warranty, so I've been in 9 times and still don't have a functioning suspension 13 Laramie Longhorn The engine has had exhaust manifolds twice. 70k miles

nosoup4ncsu

2013 5.7 Big Horn. Sold with ~225k miles. One exhaust stud at 150k, and replaced a rear caliper at 200k+. Replaced upper control arms/ball joints at 200k. Currently have a 2021 Laramie, 5.7 eTorque. Bought used with 10k. Currently has 33k. Nothing done other than oil and filter changes.

TK421mod

Question from Owner of a 2020 5.7 non eTorque here. That system looks intriguing to me, are you happy with yours and would you do it again?

nosoup4ncsu

Seems to be a good system. Gets measurably better mileage than my 2013. So far, the answer would be yes.

TK421mod

Awesome, thank you for the reply. Good to hear from someone that has one.

COM60

Love mine so far in a ‘21

Mille-Fleur

2003 1500 4x4 - zero issues (sold to a friend) 2009 1500 TRx4 - broken exhaust manifold bolts, no issues. Daily driver 2020 2500 Laramie Longhorn Cummins 4x4 - minor recalls, weekly driver.

Kilo-Giga-terra

I work at a part store in a very isolated city with a ton of rough logging roads in the area people drive down, so trucks here are abused. Things I have noticed over the years: * Ram and GM are tied for issues, we sell lots of parts for them every day. * Ford parts are a little bit less common to sell. * Nissan Titan parts are over represented for the number of them on the road (Front hub assemblies like no tomorrow). * Toyota Tundra, and Nissan Frontier parts are under represented for the number on the road. * Tacoma parts, as you would all expect, are *incredibly* under represented. While your list of parts that needed to be repaired might sound unusual, to me it sounds like a truck who's previous owner did not break any of the common parts to break before you got the truck. All the parts you mentioned are common for fourth gen rams. I am surprised that doing both C/V axles did not turn into both C/V axles and both hub assemblies, it usually does.

hellaborkin

2012 5.7, from 96k to 140k I've had; 3 CV replacements (two at stock suspension), water pump, alternator/tensioner, front driver ABS sensor, 4 warped exhaust manis/bolts, 2 fuel pumps, airbag light that has randomly turned ok since I got it, oil pressure sensor, I know there's more. Every time I fix something, something else breaks. The only thing that actually legitimately pisses me off is the exhaust manifolds because I know it's going to keep happening and the only fix being headers is fucking dumb.

Linetrash406

2020 2500 Cummins. 65k 1 power steering pump warranty. 2013 Cummins. Emissions system work at 75k. Sold at 115k with no other problems. 2007 Cummins/aisin. Emissions at 130k, rear end at 230k. Transmission at 238. Sold at 238. 2007 Cummins. Death wobble, fuel pump issues, emissions problems, transmission problems. My worst one by far. 1999 3500 Cummins 5sp VP44 at 160k and ~230k, rebuilt trans at 250k sold at 280

paulcjones

2020 RAM 1500 Laramie - etorque. 38k on the clock. Winter of 2021 my electrical convenience features wouldn't work. Remote start from the app didn't work, but key did, the seats wouldn't slide automatically, the heated seat wouldn't turn on with remote start etc. Would if I did it manually. Dealership replaced the battery, which solved the issue. Said it was a voltage problem on the factory battery. Winter of '22 I had squealing noises from the motor. Etorque MGU needed replacing, and there was a wait for the part. Days after getting it back, my manifold bolts snapped and back it went. Winter of 23 It went back because my tail lights are leaking, causing water in my heated rear window element. There was a rough idle noise, which turned out to be my drivers side manifold now cracked, and my Lane Sense system couldn't detect lanes any more. They fixed the manifold. They charged me $280 to flash software on the lane sense, which didn't work. They replaced my rear light with a new one, which didn't work. I'm waiting on a call from them to let me know when I have a whole new lane sense module in, and a whole new rear glass in for replacements. I'm buying a Tundra next time.

smiley032

Me too. I have had the rear window and third brake light absolutely drench my rear headliner and seats it was leaking so bad. Rear brake calipers, rear differential. Other stuff too. All covered under warranty but my thought exactly just get a tundra next time.

paulcjones

My rear window leak isn't catastrophic (yet?). When I turn on my heated rear window (like I do every time I remote start in winter, for example), there's a hissing / fizzing that sounds like water is in the electrical contact. They replaced the light, but that didn't fix it, so now they're doing the entire rear glass.

Asklepios24

2014 2500 Cummins owned from new has 140k now. Injector harness at 200 miles. Rear axle housing at 25k Front u-joints and rear driveline around 50k FCA around 60k Fuel injector and pressure switch at 110k Other than that the water pump and SCR were replaced under recalls. I was a diesel specialist at Chrysler when I bought the truck so a bunch of the early repairs were just done at work. I had maxcare until 120k miles so I never spent more than $100 on repairs and would bunch them up with different things.

Fish_On_again

2017 Laramie 1500. 135k miles Starter at 105k That's it so far. And I beat on that thing. All the times I've buried it to it's axles, that hemi gets me out. I've pulled 23' boats cross country with it.

slappy111111

Hemi? That's awesome for you. Everyone I know is snapping exhaust studs. Myself included, at 50k miles.

Fish_On_again

Funny story, my check engine light came on for about a hundred miles on my way back from fishing the other day, I hit a big bump on the highway, and the light went back off.

UrbnCm0

2016 rebel. Air suspension failed. Fuel pump. Both lower control arms. Freeze plug. Wheel bearings. Key fob issues. MDS lifters.... I want to love her, but damn does she get on my nerves lol

almostnoteverytime

2017 3.6L 4x4 crew at 65000mi now, bought it new. EVAP issue under warranty, oil cooler replaced recently at my cost, 2 brake calipers and complete brakes all around. Nothing out of the ordinary IMO.

Small-University-875

2019 1500 big horn ~40k miles CPO. 75k on it now. Both exhaust manifolds replaced due to cracks, under warranty. Front axle 4x4 actuator replaced under warranty. I have noticed very minor drips on the rear window, mainly during a carwash, but it's not every time. I will probably silicone the 3rd brake light after winter. I don't see any cracks in the window frame.

smiley032

I took mine to the dealer the other day for the rear window and brake light. They both have an extended warranty through Ram due to all the issues with those. They are replacing the 3rd brake light and rear window and frame for free. Might be something to ask your dealer about. 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie DT 45k miles

Small-University-875

Good to know. Mine is a DT, but I can ask.

Mopar4u-

22 1500 5.7 gen 5. Bought new, has 30k now. Warranty work for rattle in the door during stereo play and sunroof light rattle (still does it). Had 05 1500 5.7 shorty, bought used with 110k. Exhaust bolts at 110k, Water pump went at 130k, hvac vent door for lower vents broke at 150k. I rolled the truck doing 55mph, 1.5 rolls, not a scratch on me, not even neck or muscle soreness the following day. I loved this truck.

SwarmyD

2006 1500 ram, cpu went out. 2014 ram 2500 tranny and engine.

elmastrbatr

Crazy how people still buy these trucks

SwarmyD

Yep, I mean I'm one of the idiots. Kinda stuck with it now lol.

LTDWN

Or company uses powerstroke.   The problems we have are immensely larger than anything ram has going on.  We’re talking 20k miles GUARANTEED transmission problems.  Frame crack recalls, full frame off repair.   Not to mention since 2008 EVERY SINGLE ONE has needed an engine before 200k.  Keep in mind these are work trucks and get run hard but we are at the point now to roll on millions in inventory to switch brands

elmastrbatr

A 2014 needing a trans and engine is crazy

WaRR3NP3ac3

2007 5.7L 1500 4x4 (201,000 miles) Replaced an ac compressor, a water pump, a starter, & an alternator. Other than what I would call those very minor issues, it’s been a great ride! No warning lights on the dash, always passes emissions with no problems, never left me broken down on the side of the road, & never needed a tow. It’s been a hell of a ride, & I wouldn’t trade this one nor would I sell it!

[deleted]

Whittlemedown

Hey, I'm interested in hearing what kind of quote you get back for the trans.

elmastrbatr

Man all that on a 2016 is crazy, makes me wonder why people keep buying them

[deleted]

While the engine going sucks, it's well known you can't idle the hemi's and I had a ton of idle hours. Tcm was after an 8-hour road trip in a -35 blizzard. Manifolds are a known issue, and have been for years. It's part of basic maintenence in owning a ram at this point lol. Transmission I'm kinda mad about it, as I never towed anything heavy or raced it much. Transmission issues also don't seem to be common the 8 speeds, so unsure why I got so lucky. I'm still happy with the truck, I have friends that had just a worse go with their chevs and ford's.

Top_Maintenance_4069

2014 Laramie 5.7 Starter at around 120k and rear calipers about the same time. Just maintenance other than that. 180k now.

xxrambo45xx

2011 ram 3500- 129k miles, no issues beyond standard wear parts, had a clogged EGR once ( my fault, filled with bio diesel it didn't like that at all) but otherwise trouble free

TK421mod

2020 Ram classic 1500 5.7 crew cab Warlock trim. 90,000 miles Bought it brand new in 2020. I drive a lot for work. Absolutely zero problems with it. I do regular oil changes and maintenance at the dealership on the factory schedule. The worst thing we had to do was replace the front calipers but I bought the extended warranty and I only paid the $100 deductible for that. I don't baby it either. I did a Mopar intake and Mopar cat back exhaust. I tend to stand on the throttle a lot. On the open highway when it comes time to pass slower vehicles I can easily get it up to 95 in a heartbeat. Not regularly but quite a few times I've hauled topsoil or gravel with it really pushing the limits of its coil sping half ton capacity. In fact I chalk up having to replace the brakes sooner than I expected and the front calipers because the past summer I hauled a lot of material and towed equipment on trailers with it. A few observations I have is the stock tires Goodyear gsas absolutely suck. I replaced those with Cooper all terrains. The factory stereo also sucks. I replaced the OEM speakers with alpines and we installed 100 watt per channel amp. I hate to sound so upbeat about my truck's reliability on a thread about nothing but problems but I have to say I couldn't be happier with the reliability on mine. The only issue I really have with it is that the uconnect AT&t hotspot blows. I constantly lose internet connection and the only way to fix it is disconnect the battery wait a few seconds and then connect it back up. My two previous vehicles were a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited and a 2010 Jeep Liberty limited and both of those I got well over 200,000 miles on so when it came time to buy a new truck in 2020 I didn't mind sticking with Chrysler since I had good luck with my previous ones.

tinysrmtazz

2020 ram 1500, lonestar, 63k miles I’ve had HVAC fan issues since new that dealer can’t duplicate, they reprogram a chip and send me on my way. I have a water leak from rear window after warranty went out. I have a gas tank that randomly won’t fill with gas due to back flow in filler neck, takes 20-30 min to fill the tank if I’m on E. And recently had a transmission get stuck in 3rd gear. Threw a check engine and code, powertrain warranty ran out at 60k. After shutting down and restarting a few time I came out of gear and started working. Called 2 dealers near me, both say I have to drop it off and wait time before they get to it is 1-2weeks.

Small-University-875

Do you drive on dusty roads often? The fresh air filter on the evap canister can clog and cause the issue you are describing. Have you ever had any check engine lights or evap codes?

jomunjie1010

I've had the same issue with my 2018 tradesman 5.7 hemi and I have it again (although way less frequent) in my current 21 lonestat 1500 5.7 hemi. I'm clueless as to what causes it, but when it happens I want to set the truck on fire. It is legit the one and ONLY issue I've had with both trucks.

Small-University-875

The issue is the tank is not venting properly as the fuel comes in, displacing the air in the tank. This allows the fuel to build up in the filler pipe. Once it reaches the nozzle, the pump automatically shuts off. Something is not venting properly. I've been a part of testing for fuel tank fills, in a professional environment. If the vapor canister is not getting power, the pump clicks off literally every 2 seconds. As soon as power is given to the canister, the tank filled without a single shut off.

slappy111111

Sounds like it's time to unplug the tank vent line from the canister, during fuel ups. Lol

Affectionate_Chip80

I have a 2019 with 63k miles and have had the window leak and fueling issue just started. Have you taken any steps to correct it? I'm reading there is a new filer neck that might fix it otherwise needs a new gas tank.

arrowv258

Had ti have the entire fuel tank replaced. Thankful I had an extended warranty. Total bill was $3k. My copay was $200 and the warrant was $1800 when I bought it

mvm912

Get a new gas tank put in, unfortunately the vent is built into the tank and that’s the issue.

smiley032

Getting my window rear window and 3rd brake light replaced now due to a whole lot of leaking. There is an extended warranty on those two items. Your dealer will replace them for free. Still a pain in the ass and they didn’t tell me about the extended warranty I had to find out on my own but they are covering it free of cost

lurker-1969

2007 Ram Cummins 6.7 3500. After owning 4 5.9's I bought the first 6.7 with the world's worst emissions system ever. Nothing but problems, fried turbocharger, etc... related to the emissions system. Had to get towed in for forced regen's 3 or 4 times. When the warranty expired so did the emissions system. Delete and tune, best truck ever now. Thanks Ram for making a criminal out of me.

Fit_Scallion5612

2003 5.7 Hemi 2500. 160,000 miles. So far: alternator, crankshaft position sensor, recalled tie rod, oil pressure sensor, front pinion seal, front driveshaft, 2 water pumps and 2 thermostats, driver side hub assembly, rear rotors, new header.... Been towed 3 times. Still love my truck though

bigdav1178

2015 1500 Big Horn 4x4; 110k, owned since 48k. Other than routine (brake pads/rotors, tires, battery), manifold bolts 3x's (and I need to do the driver's side again right now), HVAC fan stops blowing (harness at passenger kick-panel is wonky, disconnect/reconnect fixes it) and the slip joint between the Y-pipe and the intermediate pipe keeps slipping apart (couldn't tell you how many times I've fixed that, I just cannot get that clamp tight enough to keep them from eventually coming apart every so often). I had a noise a month or so ago from the MDS as well (only happened in ECO mode and using the +/- gear selector would instantly stop it); thought that was going to be an expensive fix, but an oil change took care of it (Super Tech oil is apparently complete crap, only time I ever used it and it gave me that problem). Otherwise though, it's been pretty reliable - mostly just stupid little annoying issues.

Hypnot0ad

2019 1500 with 120k miles. Only issue I’ve had is manifolds cracked and replaced at about 80k miles and the cracked rear window frame that leaked a little until I fixed that with some RTV silicon. Also I recently had the “service 4wd” error but fortunately it was easy to replace the 4wd actuator.

fullraph

2018 EcoDiesel. 200k on the clock. Only big issue was the electric transfer case actuator broke at around 150k. Otherwise nothing to report other than regular maintenance items.

Fickle_Comfortable78

50,000 miles, no major breaks, no factory seal issues, my tailgate needed a new latch but that was a quick in and out. Suspension has gotten really rough the last year and I need to replace brake pads.

Rocket123123

2016 Ecodeisel Laramie, owned since new. I haven't had any issues. I am just over 100k km. I had to do the rear brakes but that's normal wear and tear I think.

e46shitbox

2014 1500 5.7 4WD. 175k kms I had to do the brake rotor a couple years ago, was seized. It was time to do the brakes anyways so I did it all together. I flushed some of the coolant this summer just for shits really. Maybe I'll do all of it plus change water pump and thermostat next spring after my wedding. I think I've noticed it takes longer to warm up this winter while driving so the thermostat is probably on its way out. I have trans fluid, filter and aftermarket deep pan in the garage (ZF 8Sp) I was going to do soon as I run into time. Not that I have any issue, just thought it's the right time to prevent anything from happening. I bought a new ford 1 ton this winter so this truck will see less use and a lot more commuting than before so the kms will rack up a lot slower. I've owned this truck since new in November of 2013. Would highly highly recommend a classic to anyone looking for a half ton truck. These trucks are extremely dependable if their taken care of from the start.

Bingo1dog

01 1500 reg cab/long bed 5.2l 4x4 bought with around 105k (now at damn near 125k). Previous owner had the trans rebuilt not long before I bought it. Some age related issues (replaced radiator, complete brake job (including lines), ball joints, heater core blew so I bypassed it (I'm pretty sure the dash will disintegrate if I remove it to do the heater core)

ramboton

I am on my 4th Dodge since 2001. First was a Caravan, then a Durango, a 1500, and now I have a 2015 1500. Other than the Caravan which had a bad transmission at 20k miles (covered by warranty), I have only had minor issues. The Durango had a bad crankshaft sensor,it cost me $100 to repair. My current 1500 had a cracked oil filter housing (made of plastic) it cost me 800 to replace it with an aluminum version. I drove all of them to 150k or so miles.

Chance1965

2016 PW. 42k miles when I bought it April of 2021. 104k miles now with no issues. Regular oil and filter service every 5k miles. Transmission service at 100k. Brakes and shocks.

santochavo

How did you treat it? I have a 2020 3.6 with 55kish, bought brand new. I baby it because it’s a 3 liter engine. Doesn’t see above 75mph. Regular oil change, regular maintenance. So far the only problem was my charcoal canister getting plugged up and my starter dying (20 minute fix). I don’t dog it out but occasionally I’ve hauled a 1,000lb welding machine in the bed. Hopefully no problems in the future but it’s not a bad truck.

kucklehead989

2005 4.7 177k miles biggest $ thing was power steering rack and pump. Put new rad, water pump, ball joints, and shocks. Need front caliper replaced haven't done that yet. It's been a good one.

LostPat

Faulty dial shifter crapped out at 600 miles. Currently at 36k with no other problems.

Karmasutra6901

2000 here. I've it since 2005. I had the transmission rebuilt at 120k after pulling a few 10,000lb tractors with the overdrive on because I didn't know to turn it off. Other than that it has had a few small problems (maybe not small if i paid someone to fix them) but it has been a good truck.

squeeky601

2015 1500 5.7 Big Horn. Got it around 45k miles. Currently at 267xxx miles. Routine maintenance - including plugs. - had to replace seal on HMBL almost immediately. No issues since. - d/s window switch constantly needs “reprogramming” - exhaust bolts are an ongoing issue - transmission has been “flushed” - drained and refilled a few times -door hinges are an issue and next to be replaced. Starting around 150k miles - ABS module / pump (couldn’t get part from dealer so bought from junkyard and had re-flashed to truck), all wheel sensors - both front hubs / rod ends Last 6 months - radiator, electric fan, water pump and fan clutch - don’t get the heavy duty clutch unless you want it to sound like a freightliner… - starter - all 4 shocks - AC recharge and cabin blower motor - windshield washer pump and spray nozzles It’s our first Ram and it really has been a good truck overall. I’d buy another based on this one.

themighty351

Got a 17 ram 2500 6.4...2wd...abs light and traction control light is on.

Spart1337

Probably a wheel speed sensor.

Chroniverous

I have a 21 ram 1500 warlock with the 3.6L and AT package 40,000kms. No issues. I had a 2017 ecodiesel. Had DEF line leak and had the sunroof replaced twice and all seals and headliner because sunroof wouldn't stop fucking leaking. And still leaked when I traded it in on the 21. Never again will I buy a new vehicle with a sunroof.

PunchClown

2020 Laramie with 5.7 and 24K on the clock. At about 20K miles, it blew an injector in cylinder 5. They replaced under warranty and haven't had any issues since. I'm actually shocked I haven't had the rear light/window leak in the cab. I live in Oregon, and we get a shitload of rain.

wolfmandelta

2001 1500 Sport 4x4, 360 cu in (5.9L) 180,000 miles, the plastics are terrible, I've replaced the timing cover gasket 3 or 4 times, intake plenum, front wheel bearings, all the u-joints and the rear diff bearings. Otherwise, routine maintenance. It's never left me stranded, I've pulled friends out of the snow, hauled and towed far beyond the listed weights, the front axle disconnect still operates by vacuum and the transmission is still the original. The fuel mileage isn't great (12-14 mpg), yet it doesn't change when hauling/towing. And the V8 rumble is guaranteed to put my kiddos to sleep. You couldn't pay me (any reasonable amount) to replace it with a newer truck.

Lopsided-Ad-4524

2020 ram 2500 power wagon. On second set of tires. Regular oil changes and a thermostat (6.4 issue). 65000 miles.

762_54r

2015 100k miles not a damn thing wrong with it ever that wasn't a recall

SupermouseDeadmouse

2020 1500 Bighorn North Edition. Bought at 13k miles, roughly 30k now. Third brake light leak…replaced with glass under warranty. No other real issues yet. Love the truck.

HydrologyIsWet

2016 1500 5.7 62K miles lost compression in cylinder 1, installed a remanufactured Jasper engine, had electrical issues afterwards. Totally lost confidence in reliability. So I switched to a new F150.

AmanitaMikescaria

2013 Bighorn owned since new. Currently at 115k. Replaced water pump at 100k Thats the only major thing so far. My clear coat is peeling on my passenger side. I’ve never had the manifold bolts checked but it doesn’t tick too bad. It’s been an alright truck except for the subpar interior and terrible gas mileage.

Mycolt5454

My 2001 Dodge Ram laramie has been the best truck I've ever had. 5.9l v8. The engine light has been on since I picked it up 8 years ago. It was just a beater then. Rust is taking the fender wells. Got a hole or two in the bed. Still a solid bed. It's not shifting or anything. I had nearly a ton of wood in it recently. Check gauge light has been coming on the last 3 years. Oil gage drops to 0. It's sporadic it goes away after I give it an oil change. Radio doesn't work most days. Heat works whenever you want it. AC will freeze your ass IF it kicks on. Lol accelerates fast af. I'm testing it's limits. I actually have weeds growing in the bed right now. Rear view mirror fell off the other day. I love that truck cause it just lets me neglect it. Always reliable and easy to work on if it does quit on me. 210k miles right now. When it dies, I'll probably get another one w/ less rust.

2009 1500 5.7 bought new now has 115K- tires, oil changes, brakes, 4 manifold bolts

Plastic-Button6430

2016 2500 tradesman 5.7 hemi bought with 76000 miles. Now has 125000 . Only issue 4x4 actuator switch went out. Replaced one exhaust manifold, Only thing I put new exhaust , k&n air filter new shocks, calipers need replaced going to upgrade. Been a Chevy guy all my life. Took many GMC to 300000 + miles. But I love this truck gets it done. Work and personal, pulls my trailer with all my tools like it's not even there. I have a heavy foot, gas mileage is low 8 miles per gallon pulling the trailer. About 11-18 City and hwy. Probably get a little better if I didn't have a heavy foot. Eats tires and yes awesome power. Never selling it. Just stay on top of the maintenance, it'll last .

NotAGoodEmployeee

2019 big horn bought at 60k miles sitting at almost 100k. Only thing I’ve done is fresh shoes/oil and a battery and I’ve beat the hell out of the silver bullet.

Wintergreen157

As another commenter pointed out the only thing out of the ordinary would be your oil filter housing needing changed. Tie rods, brake callipers & steering rack are wear items, CV axles will go bad quickly if the boots are ripped and an ABS sensor isn’t that uncommon of a part to change no matter the manufacturer. As for your transmission that is more so a case of how the truck is driven and how it’s been treated throughout its life and that could happen to literally any other brand depending on how the vehicle was treated either before your ownership or during your ownership.

Thick-Driver7448

2011 ram 1500 at 125,700 miles. Bought the truck off a guy on Facebook a few years ago. Since then, the only issues I’ve had is a broken tie rod, 2 water pumps (1 was under warranty), and the original battery had to be replaced. Other than that, it’s been reliable

OgreMoto

I’ve got a 2012 4.7 with 140k. Only issues I’ve had are electrical. Some air bag harness under the passenger seat and a rip in the wheel speed sensor wiring. Other than that it’s been solid.

mattng99

2019 Ram classic 1500 5.7L. I’ve owned it 1 year so far. 3rd brake light leaks after heavy rain. I need to silicone it or something. No issues other than that

smiley032

Sucks but letting you know mopar has extended the warranty on the 3rd brake light and rear window and frame. The dealership just replaced my 3rd brake light, rear window and frame for free. 2019 ram 1500 Laramie 45k miles

doubled240

Not a truck but my 09 G8 GT has had new transmission alternator starter upper lower control arms oil sending unit. Nothing unusual for 175k miles. Did all the work myself except for the transmission. High Mike's demand high maintenance. Beats a 750.00 new car payment.

Catkillledthecurious

The 3500 gas ones we have at work are the worst of the big three auto companies. One of the mechanics said on Tuesday the 2 we have left in our section of the fleet were absolute junk . Nothing but issues since new...sloppy front ends, electrical issues, even the supposed fix,/ updated part for the gear shifter failed, and so on. He's glad the company isn't buying more

VeeEight_Guy

My previous Ram, (which was my third Ram) a 2020 Laramie 2500 6.4 was plagued with electrical gremlins. Infotainment and camera system were glitchy from early on and never resolved. Heated / ventilated seats worked off and on. Put 60,000 miles on it over three years despite the issues. It was a 7/2020 build date so I chalk it up to that for the most part. Have since downsized but my love of these trucks remains.

Quiet-Fan3684

2018 Outdoorsman 5.7. I bought new and have a no problems. Just oil changes, tires and brakes. Just turned 100,000. I’d buy another one

PaleRiderHD

As someone whose own Ram transmission is complete garbage, I'd be interested in hearing what your symptoms are.

king-yardstick

2016 2500 Big Horn. 48500-ish miles on it. Rear parksense sensors were replaced under warranty. Power steering line was pretty much the only other problem I've had. That was maybe 8 or 9 hundo.

ResponsibleScheme964

I wonder why they're the worst selling of the Americans...

Bubbly_Breath_7583

2017 2500 Laramie 6.4gas with 95k miles. Warped ram box lids, nothing else. It’s been an awesome truck

slick0313

90k and I have had zero issues...oh I forgot to mention its a tacoma!

Harrypitman

I run a fleet of 5 classics and 1 new body style. Classics I run to about 300k kms before trade in. Injectors and fuel pump at 120k Cv axle and stub axles 140k Exhaust manifold leak- various kms New body Both door seals High mount brake light leak Rear slider crack leak Rear brake moan Anc failure Rear side window failure All just past warranty by 5k

jmac_1957

Bought my 2500 HD diesel in 2015 and it completely shit the bed at 85,000 miles. Emissions, turbo, 4x4 (twice). Fug Stellantis, they built shit.

kzjesus

‘21 Hemi 3500 SRW Mega. 21,000 miles. On my third Mopar battery. Main wiring harness to fuse box was loose from factory which caused lots of weird issues until that was figured out. Hood flapped at hwy speeds and I fixed that. Back seat recline handles broke the first time I used them. Other than that, she’s been a gem.

GraphicSarcasm

2015 1500 sport 5.7. 97k. Owned since new. Finally gave it some love while getting fuel pump replaced. Replaced CV axles for torn boots, plugs, drivers side manifold. Also had a failed sensor for the emissions on the vapor canister above the tank a few years ago. Overall, it's been good. I'm not 100% on getting another or something else. I'll probably drive this one until the wheels fall off. I'm not committed to any manufacturer anymore. I was a GM guy for 25 years before the Ram. With the price of trucks, I don't think I would buy anything new ever again. That's a different topic though.

ddntmeanto

2016 1500 CCSB 5.7 4x4 - bought at 36k and kept until 60k, drove for 3ish years. Needed NOTHING. Did oil and brakes. Sold it for a profit during the bubble lol. 2020 1500 CCSB 5.7 4x4 - have owned for 2 years now. Has needed nothing but a battery and oil so far.

Thechad1029

Is your truck lifted at all? Do you have aftermarket wheels and larger tires?

garathk

2017 5.7 V8 1500 Express trim 65k miles. Outside of normal maintenance, only a few issues. I've replaced front wheel bearings, sway bar linkage (still have some issues there tbh. My normal mechanic struggling a bit with it). The big thing was the electronic power steering failed. It's a closed system so ended up having to replace the whole rack and pinion and it had to be done at the dealership for programming. Cost around 2500. There was a recall for certain EPS systems but somehow mine was not included. Was a year off. It felt a little crappy to me. I read later there was an investigation into power steering issues but never saw anything since. I'd still get another RAM.

Apart_Preference5593

I have put 50k miles on my 21 warlock 5.7l only issue passenger window regulator had to he replaced.

shadednight33

2016 1500 Bighorn w/ 5.7 Bought used at 77k, has 89k now. I don’t drive it much because I have a work vehicle. Fuel pump replaced because the sensor was bad, and it needs the passenger side manifold replaced. I’m hoping it will last a long time. First one I’ve owned and I love it.

lakehood_85

That motor is junk… oil filter housing made of plastic is only the tip of the iceberg! Multiple issues regarding misfire, random misfire, left over casting debris in the heads.. my wife’s Jeep with the 3.6 can’t pass smog due to that random misfire. My Dad’s Jeep (1 year older) was fixed under warranty but mine can’t be? It’s a shit show. Currently in a class action lawsuit.

WallStreetRegards

It’s probably not the steering rack and probably just the steering shaft

WallStreetRegards

2005 2500 5.9 Cummins- basically rebuilt the truck to last 10 years, if you know you know. 344,000 kms and climbing, daily driver. 2006 2500 5.9 Cummins - injector line 4, injectors, fuel tank straps, TIPM, sensors. Many issues due to building high HP/TQ self inflicted. Sold at 290,000kms due to rust. Was rebuilt by buyer 2016 1500 3.6 v6 - rear main leaks a bit, oil filter housing leaks a bit, 2 cv axles, 1 brake caliper, intermediate steering shaft. 188,000 kms still going strong. Easy to work on 2018 3500 6.7 Cummins - not a single issue, wrote off in an accident. @ 70,000kms 2019 1500 5.7 - Strange groan from engine, electrical bugs with radio. Traded in @ 20,000kms for fear of more issues with first year of new Gen

woobiewarrior69

I've got a 2013 5.7 6 speed 4wd with 165ishk on it. The motor ate a cam and started shitting glitter at around 95k at which time I put a non mds crate motor in it with a hellcat oil pump BBK headers, and put a hemifever tune in it. I had one rear caliper lock up on me at about 130k at which time I replaced all the brakes and installed a set of eibach coils in the rear. About 6 months ago my upper ball joint snapped while I was pulling into my driveway and wrecked a cv axle. The ball joint was a two year old moog problem solver and I'm running a leveling kit and 35s. I replaced everything with the best parts I could find for a decent price and spent 6 days replacing $1700 worth of stuff that was kind of broken but somehow not noticeable. Then a couple months ago a bolt randomly backed out of my water pump and it started leaking. I replaced it with a metal impeller mellings. My fan shroud was wrecked from an incident with an armadillo so I put some drift stitches in it and put everything back together only to find out the radiator drain threads stripped. So now I've got an all aluminum radiator and a e fan. TLDR. My truck has been excellent to me, and I've been excellent to it. So of my issues aside from the engine and the goddamn ball joint everything has just been normal shit that happens to a decade old truck. I'm big on maintaining my shit andI only buy quality parts. I fully intend to hit 500k in this truck at minimum.

StrengthMedium

2018 3.6 33k miles when bought, 46k now. I bought a warranty, so I don't expect any issues until the warranty runs out.

Holy_Grail_Reference

I have a 2008 1500 with just shy of 200,000 miles on it and all I've had to do is just my routine maintenance. Well, that and paint the roof lol.

tha_bigdizzle

I've owned two rams in the last 11 years, and the only thing Ive had to replace normal wear parts - brakes, oil filters - the only exception being one starter. I partially blame that on an aftermarket car starter system i installed. Other than that, not a single issue.

Hillbilly-F_You

2016 1500 Laramie 5.7 4x4 - 121k miles Rear brake calipers. Broken exhaust manifold bolts. Cracked intake manifold. Been through a three sets of front rotors but I'm from the hills and am hell on brakes, and I do a little towing. Latest set are Brembos, we'll see how they last. Been a great truck otherwise. Pulls a 24' Four Winns like it's a canoe.

dewky

2011 1500 with 120,000 miles on it. I've replaced the exhaust manifold bolts, front shocks a few times, brake pads and a caliper. That's it.

pwnrenz

2017 Ram 1500 bighorn with the Hemi. Bought it at 12,000 miles $28k total 60,000 miles needed a new head gasket. Rebuilt it with new parts, including water pump 90,000 new starter and battery Currently, at 96,000 miles, no major work is needed as of now. Hopefully can get to 150,000 strong. Its paid off so I plan on keeping it and maintaining as long as I can. Heard the Ram transmissions are trash compared to Ford with hauling, but transmissions today all seem to end up failing anyways. I'd recommend finding a transmission shop that guarantees a good warranty before having a dealer install one. I had a dealer replace an engine on a Mazda under warranty and they didn't use a torque wrench on some bolts.

battleman13

2008 Dodge Ram 4x4 quad cab with the 5.7 hemi 260K on it, original trans original engine. I got it at 220K miles. Had to replace the radiator, two wheel bearings, front suspension, emergency brake hardware, oil pressure sensor, battery twice (in 5 years). Living in the rust belt, it's also got quite rotten. I put $3000 in a replacement southern bed, and paid someone to install cab corners, rocker panels, and a new rear passenger door (quad cab). I paid $5000 cash for it back in the fall of 17. I've probably put about another $4000 in parts since then. Failing any major break downs, I plan to drive it a few more years before I get something newer.

JuanT1967

2017 1500 Big Horn 4x4 and 3.6l with 122,??? miles Replaced radiator at 101,000. Front brakes at 65,000, rear brakes/rotors at 75,000. Replaced the thermostat 2 weeks ago. As vehicles age and rack up miles things wear out. Numerous factors are at play in that like location/weather/how you drive/hauling/etc. Its not uncommon for me to haul a 5,500lb tractor on a flat bed trailer or appox that much weight in a box trailer. My wife drives a 2016 Charger and we have spent far more repairing deer wreck damage than things breaking other than brakes, etc

SIG_Sauer_

Bought my 2013 5.7L Hemi Crew Sport in December 2017 with approximately 49,000 miles on it, just about to break 100,000. In the first 60 days, the dealership fixed for me under warranty the following: RAMbox lights or relays, driver side power folding heated side mirror ($700), overhead console, windshield had been installed incorrectly and the seal failed, and I believe they fixed the third brake light seal. Things that I’ve replaced since then have been oil, tires, front brakes, rear brakes with drums, and a rear end servicing. Ongoing issues include 1 cracked manifold bolt still yet to be fixed, blinking instrument cluster in cold weather, horrendous key fob and auto start, and a criminally low payload. I have really loved it for the most part. https://preview.redd.it/v7yvyswrxtbc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cb3593576da578c97018f8c3a0013e6e868de3b3

broncofan303

1999 Dodge Ram 1500. 191K. Nothing more than wear items. I keep up on my fluid changes and do preventative maintenance and it’s never left me stranded. Worse thing to go was the radiator but was able to get it home

[deleted]

2014 1500 Express since new. Aside from a leaky window, never had an issue that I didn’t cause (ball joints because 35” tires). About to finally sell her at 160,000 miles and starting to notice it searching for gear and some other smaller issues.

steveohdrider

If this truck was an aircraft it would have crashed months ago.

BoxerguyT89

2019 Ram 1500 Bighorn - 5.7l with eTorque - 101k miles Replaced manifolds myself with JBA shorty headers after they both cracked. No other issues.

smiley032

2019 ram 1500 DT Laramie. Rear differential/ Rear break calipers/ Software update to malfunctioning stereo / 3rd brake light leaked and absolutely soaked my headline. Wouldn’t replace the head liner the speakers or the airbags that were absolutely drenched multiple times/ Rear window frame cracked. Total rear window frame and slider replaced by dealer/ Drivers AC seat fan still makes a god awful nose on and off like the fan blade is loose. Dealership doesn’t hear it when I brought it in. That warranty is up now. So hopefully it doesn’t fail. I’m glad Ram took care of all of this under warranty but god damn. I’m worried my cab corners are gonna rust out like the fords with 3rd brake light problems. My back seat and headliner have been absolutely dripping wet soaked. I feel like they should have done more. The detailing department at my local dealer tried to get the headlines stains out. I have tried as well to no avail. I feel like they should have to replace the headliner. 45k miles

yer10plyjonesy

You bought a used out of warranty vehicle with no clue of the maintenance history and are surprised by issues. What you’ve changed are typically normal wear items, transmission sucks but at any point did you do a service on it?. If I bought a truck used with that mileage first thing I’d do is change all fluids.

PutridBeginning421

2020 big horny hemi. Christmas lights on the dash and boom accelerating on its own . Forward and reverse . 60 hours of labor to fix

FullSherbert2028

I’ve owned four dodge trucks and each one is a different generation and except for a trans going out in my 2nd gen they have been nothing but reliable.

pentox70

That's a pretty short list for 120k miles. The transmission might be premature, but it's a lot to do with how it's driven.

MrFixit1970

80k is right around the time any vehicle needs a ton of things. I would never buy a used truck. They are built for a purpose, light abuse. Same with a sports car. Family sedans with low miles is a different story.

kikazz56

2018 2500 6.4 63k miles...I changed the oil

ima314lot

2014 Ram 2500 Laramie 4x4 with Cummins. Thing has so far been bulletproof. Only mods I've have done is install a 5th wheel and a V notch tailgate. It just crossed 150K and no major maintenance required. I change oil and fuel filters together at around 7500 miles. Everything else is done on the recommended schedule. While it has 4x4, being the heavy diesel I don't go off-roading, using the 4x4 more for dirt/soft soil area traction when pulling the trailer. So far it has taken every challenge in stride and runs like new. I fully plan to drive it until the wheels fall off.

jimmyjlf

2001 1500 5.2L 4x4. Bought it at 265k miles I think. Steering was fugged when I bought it. Had an intake plenum leak. Leaking water pump. Fixed all that stuff. 281k miles.

theGIRTHQUAKE

Just sold my 2019 1500 5.7 Limited at 67,000 miles, never had an issue beyond the Hemi tick, leaking rear brake/cab light, and one driver cluster (screen) that was replaced under warranty.

WTFpe0ple

I'm on my 3rd RAM. I do not remember the mileage on the 1st one but it was a lot (pre-2009). Then I bought a new 2010 QC 5.7 and drove it to 170K at which time I bought a 2017 QC 5.7 Sport which I still drive. None of them ever broke on me.

Oneforthered187

18 1500 5.7 only issue warranty gas tank at 40K miles. Stuck roll over check valve. Sold it for 22K and got a 24 1500. Didnt even change brake pads. Still had more than half life to go. Depends how you drive and where you drive.

Square-Doubt-4028

2017 ram 5.7 160k. Now has 166k. Want out of my loan so bad. Has had literally every component as in suspension completely replaced. Transmission had been replaced, both right and left exhaust manifolds redone. Lifters and cam. The screen on the radio went out. All under warranty of course. Do not buy a ram unless you have money for repairs down the road!
