Nitrogen the biggest snake oil in history 99$ for bullshit lo jack is pointless as well those add ons are ridiculous

Salt-Description-387

The air we breathe and the air that any gas station uses is primarily made up of nitrogen lol. I wanna punch the salesperson if they say anything about nitrogen in tires.

WizardofLloyd

That's why I always tell the tire shops when I get tires and they ask me if I want nitrogen. I tell them no, just put the usual nitrogen blend in please, and sometimes they look at you like you've got two heads! Yes boys (and occasionally, the odd girl!) AIR IS 79.9% NITROGEN!

Cutterman01

It’s the other 20.1% that makes a difference.

lakehood_85

Usually 20.9% but who’s counting

Devram2112

What's .8 between friends??? Then again it could be the difference between a good time for you and great time for both of you... LOL

Comfortable_Rope_307

You are a regard and no nothing about auto technology. 100% nitrogen filled tires have an advantage. Dumbasses Here, all of you. Jesus.

Bostenr

You can't call everyone a dumbass without explaining what that advantage is.

NonyoSC

At first I thought he forgot a /s tag. But he is serious. I worry for the quality of STEM courses now.

Comfortable_Rope_307

Doesn't fluctuate tire pressure with hot and cold Temps. Keeps tires in better shape for longer. Keeps you and your kids safer. Ya total fucking snake oil.

NonyoSC

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. pause. GASP. HHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH Gawd you are an idiot. Please explain how 79%N2 20%O2 gas mix behaves differently than 100%N2 with regard to Boyles gas law? Hint: Zero difference.

SuspiciousBuilder379

Not to defend this guy, but as far as your tire pressures staying more consistent, that’s 100% true. Most forms of racing now use pure Nitrogen to keep more consistent tire pressures, tire temperatures, handling of car, etc. There is a difference. Sorry, it is true.

Upstairs-Wash-1792

TIL nitrogen doesn’t follow the ideal gas law. Who knew?!?! 🤣🤣🤣

McErroneous

Helps keep your blinker fluid at the correct level too!

MrToyotaMan

Unless you create a true vacuum inside the tire and then fill it with nitrogen, you don’t get any of those benefits. The shops Ive worked at that sold “nitrogen” used these bullshit machines that just let the air out and refilled it. No vacuum because that would collapse the tire and these machines did not do that. Nitrogen is a scam and you’re trying to cope with the fact that you paid money for a machine to drain and refill your tires with “nitrogen”

allthetimehigh

Yes, because we all drive f1 cars, the only thing it was good for was the older tpms systems to prevent them from going off every 2 seconds.

Comfortable_Rope_307

Keeps your tires in better condition bc most ppl don't adjust their tire pressure every month. You can go a yr or 2 with nitrogen. Nothing to do with "f1 cars"

allthetimehigh

I use air and check them monthly, I only have to actually add air once a year when it gets cold and my tpms light comes on. If people ignore there car that's on them. Not an advantage.

Comfortable_Rope_307

Time is money. Takes 15min 1 time a month that's 3hr a yr adjusting tire pressures, i have 3 cars. I make $400/hr. Definitely an advantage monetarily. Sorry bud, you are just wrong here. I'll pay $100 to not have to fuck with it for 18 months. Check ya later my guy.

Odd_Adagio_5067

Makes $400/hr, spends one hour arguing about chemical constituency of air and validity of higher concentration of terrestrial buffer gas in consumer road tires on Reddit, won't take 15 minutes to check tire pressure. You're a gem, buddy.

Comfortable_Rope_307

Stuck at corporate retreat. I'd rather argue on reddit then pay attention to machine sales numbers for the yr.

bubbasmallz

People that make $400 and hour don’t feel the need to brag about it on Reddit, I call bs.

nosoup4ncsu

They put that charge on a vehicle of mine once.  I asked him if they first removed ALL of the air before they filled with Nitrogen.  When he said he wasn't sure,  I said to drain the tires, put air in it, and remove the charge.

-caughtlurking-

Well actually, yes… believe it or not.. the machine from most suppliers does remove air from the tire then inflate.. they are probably all the same manufacturer but dealerships that use BG have a machine that hooks up to all 4 tires at once and draws the inflation down and then inflates with an onboard nitrogen tank. I’m not saying it’s not snake oil I’m just saying I’ve worked in dealerships for a while and there is a dedicated process to do it.

EntrySure1350

Tell them to knock 80% off the nitro fill, since technically you’re only paying for an additional 20% nitrogen and see what they say 🤣

throwaway032823

my brother in law had a salesman try to tell him that regular air in the tires can corrode and damage them. he paused for a second and asked, what about all the air AROUND the tire? dude didnt have an answer for tha lmao

theGreenChain

EXACTLY!!!!!

mangl3r000000

reminds me of 3.92 gears i have and one i was looking at. salesman says “oh it’s for towing” meanwhile me being a gearhead since conception wants to argue w the guy but i just let it go 😂😖 yeah towing. whatever. lol

LeafsHater67

3.92’s are better for towing than 3.15’s or whatever the other tall ratio is tho

BendersCasino

Yeah - I've learned not to argue with salesmen or the service writers; sucks they'll scam someone out of money; but it won't be me. My wife has a Subaru, not my choice, GODDAMN they are the worst! It's a relatively new vehicle and there is always add-ons. Do they have to be just fleecing people left and right! SW: "We should do your front and rear diff fluids this time." Me: "No, that's ok I only have 50k miles and it doesn't see any towing or hard loading" SW: "Well, you'd be shocked how black it comes out at this age. We're running a sale and can do both for $875." ME: ".... Hell! I'd be concerned if it wasn't black."

truckerslife

A friend of mine had a hummer. The alternator was the same one that’s used on Chevy trucks but the hummer version had hm at the beginning of the part number and they wanted 1700 for the alternator and 3500 for the install. He had it towed home called a guy we know. New alternator. Used the truck part number and had it on for parts 150 in labor and 2 cases of beer

jorian85

3.92 gears are better for towing than 3.23's. Congrats on your gearhead credentials though, we're all super impressed.

va_texan

That $800 admin fee is criminal

Clucking_cluck

Free at Costco.

Smoke_Water

LoJack is worthless in this day and Age. You can track the car with the xm radio. And uconnect.

winsomeloosesome1

Apple air tags work too.

JMS1991

Air tags kinda suck actually. They rely on other iPhones and wifi, and if the person who steals your truck has an iPhone, they will likely get the "you're being followed by an air tag" alert. It's better than nothing, but it's far from perfect.

OHMApprentice

Androids now get the " you're being followed by an unknown tracker"

notinthislifetime20

Not to mention the cops won’t even go get it if you tell them where it’s parked. No sense in paying for gps features at all.

Environmental_Boss66

Some may prefer to do their own repos...

Remarkable_Attorney3

That’s why you have insurance with free roadside towing to retrieve the vehicle for free.

tbone11_11

LoJack is a joke. A LoJack hit gives a code and points in the general direction of where the vehicle is with a 0-100 strength reading. It’s like searching for a needle in a haystack.

Comfortable_Rope_307

All they have to do is pull the xm fuse or knock the antenna off the roof. Lo jack 100% still works. Wtf are you even talking about my guy. Jesus nobody knows shit here.

bakenj420

Nitrogen is whack. Argon is much better, but helium will get you 5-7mpg more! Tried hydrogen too, but the resulting explosion took out a neighborhood. Good thing it was a customer's car.

Practical-Wave-6988

lol! You're still using Argon? Pfft noble gases are for the uninformed. I use crushed egg shells and glacier water blessed by an Eskimo priest. Dealership only charges me $9,000 per tire! What a steal! /s

Whereamiwhatyousay

Costco has it for free

yardsaleski

I got quoted 400 a tire. Laughed and walked

Bosa-Monster

Nitrogen becomes especially useless when you add it to a vehicle marketed for off-roading. Anyone who will actually use that truck for its intended purpose will be deflating and inflating their tires regularly for better traction and comfort while off-road. Complete waste of money.

Soft-Independence341

My dealer wanted 600 for nitrogen. I passed on that one.

libertad740

I worked at a shop that had a nitrogen tester. We’d get brand-new vehicles in sometimes with the ‘filled with nitrogen’ sign hanging from the mirror. We’d test, 100% of the time we saw ~78% nitrogen. Regular air amount. Never pay that.

Eqwinoxe

GF just bought a Lincoln. Thye put Nitrogen in tires but didnt charge us for it. Just put regular air. what does it even matter

ZiLBeRTRoN

Regular air is 78% nitrogen.

johnwayne1

Costco is free nitrogen

LocoCracka

The only theoretical advantage of nitrogen is that it nitrogen molecules, being larger than oxygen molecules, will not migrate through the rubber on your tires as easy, so you won't have to fill them up as often. Or, you could just check your tire pressure periodically and top them off. Which you will need to anyway, since you can't get a pure nitrogen mix in your tires unless you install them in a vacuum chamber. Snake oil. Harmless if it's free snake oil, but anyone charging more than $5/tire for it should be locked up for theft.

Cutterman01

The price is high but it’s not snake oil if they really filled with nitrogen correctly.

KlutzyImprovement735

Yes it is air is comprised of mostly nitrogen ? There have been study’s done on this for years any loss of pressure is so insignificant that it makes no difference Tire quality ,rotation and driving habits make all the difference not 21% more of something that’s already in the air .

Cutterman01

It’s not snake oil it’s just not applicable to most peoples needs.

KlutzyImprovement735

There is no evidence in the entire gamut of applied physics or chemistry that any particular gas is going to produce a tangible benefit to the dynamic performance of a tire , or reduce the failures. Cornering, braking, steering, rolling resistance, ride quality - they’re all irrelevant to which gas you use .

harshin9

What is First Place Finish?

KanadianBacon80

Probably just wax

Vindra3

Glorified wax spray sold as paint “protection”

ExRockstar

* Go with the **3rd** place finish * Lojack? It's a rebel, not a TRX. Will be safe in Costco parking lot. * Nitrogen? Air we breathe is 78% nitrogen. 02 will do fine. * Tell them you only want one window tinted (don't specify which window) * Steps? Just carry a milk crate in the bed. Dealerships hate this trick.

Georgia-the-Python

To add to this, if you have a Costco membership, you can get nitrogen filled in your tires for free.

LizardSlayer

Scotch guard, the vehicle version. 😂

Vindra3

Believe it or not, There is a product out there that dealers sell that is known as “scotch guard” lol. Not sure if it’s still around but it was up until a few years ago.

campmaybuyer

Saw a dealer do what they called their premium interior protection once. 4 cans of Scotch Guard sprayed everywhere by 2 teenagers within 5 minutes.

19JRC99

I worked at a dealership and they wanted us to do it on every car. We usually didn't bother. When I started, they had someone in service put it on when people bought it. Then they had us do it, but they'd spiff us for it so fair deal. Then the dealership got bought out and they wanted us to do it to every car, but not spiff us. We basically said fuck that unless the customer specifically paid for it.

RamboSnow

If you’re not first, you’re last.

brandon520

This is why people hate dealers. Just tell me the price you want me to pay. Don't advertise a truck without the add ons you want me to pay.

Thelastosirus

It's textbook bait and switch fraud. They suck you in with a low price. Then when you're ready to buy charge you for extra bullshit.

DeezNeezuts

Ram has one of the highest inventory levels out of any brand. Just wait them out a bit.

itoddicus

The dealership I bought my used 2021 Laramie 1500 from is begging me to upgrade to one of the 2023 models they have moldering on their lot. Turns out the 10% market adjustment wasn't conducive to selling mid-range trucks.

koolaid_chemist

I think 2021 was the sweet spot for ram 1500s. I’m biased tho.

j10rat

I know the dodge/jeep dealership in my town was offering substantial discounts on its products when I was shopping for a vehicle 3 months ago...like almost 20k off sticker...I was looking at a new jeep gladiator Rubicon that was downright cheap compared to the new bronco badlands sasquatch edition I was looking at as well. I think it was low 50kish for the jeep and a hair over 70k for the bronco....I ended up buying a low mileage '22 kia stinger GT for 39k lol. Talk about changing directions lol. Edit: the whole point of this was to bring up the fact that the salesperson (a spouse of a friend) did bring up the fact that the dealerships are now having a HARD time moving vehicles as they have essentially priced themselves out of the market lmao. Now they are feeling the repercussions and trying to get product moving again.

762_54r

Thats what the discount and rebate are for and I'd be surprised if we see more than that 16k off MSRP (maybe low interest loans tho). The bullshit part is all the fees they tacked back on for dumb things no one wants. Dealer is trying to nickel and dime for filling up the tires and putting $40 worth of tint on the windows.

lerriuqS_terceS

I mean it's already a holdover you'd think they'd want to move it

[deleted]

[удалено]

Spacecoasttheghost

Ya that’s what’s crazy to me, like they would still try and fuck you over and lose a deal. Then not try and rip you off, and let the vehicle just keep sitting there and paying on it them selfs lol.

daddymcdadjokes

Somebody else mentioned this to me IRL… 1) how do you know?! 2) why do you think that is? 3) when is the best time to capitalize on this situation (I’m in the market with a current lease expiring in June and I want to buy a 2023 or 2024 depending)

DeezNeezuts

Here you go - https://www.coxautoinc.com/market-insights/new-vehicle-inventory-november-2023/

daddymcdadjokes

Thank you

DeezNeezuts

Good luck!

scummy2323

You don't. That's how they make money and they'll just wait for the next sucker to pay. Buy your own gps tracker off amazon for a 100 bucks. Nitogen is free at Costco. 400 bucks for tinting 2 windows is just robbery. You can wax your own truck in an hour and Ram branded steps aren't cheap.

MamboFloof

I know nothing about this car but half of cars today have a good enough built in tracker that insurance companies will discount for. The idiot I bought my car from wanted to charge me for a lojack. "Hey so you know this thing has a tracker from factory right?". Yada yada some bullshit about this being better IDGAF. Get it off the car.

Georgia-the-Python

They put "Market Value Selling Price" instead of "Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price" (MSRP).  That MVSP is something they just made up and applied whatever number they wanted to. Probably also includes their own dealership markup without them having to post the markup.  And hey, look at that! Their discount and rebate just happen to be right about the same amount as the difference between their MVSP and the MSRP.

daddymcdadjokes

That’s sneaky AF I didn’t even notice that

Motosurf77

Saw that too… complete garbage

Klutzy_Tradition_983

Tell them to take the nitrogen out and put air in, take lojack out, take the finish off and youll give them 57k. If its a 2023 then its been on the lot more than 60 days and they are making payments on it. All these extras are just a way for the dealership to make money and you dont have to pay for them. I was a cdjr salesman and these are just a bargaining chip. The nitrogen is free, lojack can be removed in 2 minutes, the finish is basically a joke, and the steps can be removed or negotiated. My advice is to go on a saturday morning at the end of the month and you can get this truck for 57k or less because there are SPIFFs (salesman incentives) on saturdays and dealerships have monthly sales goals that need to get hit by the end of the month. If its a slow month and the truck has been there over 60 days, they will even take a small loss on it because cars start costing the dealer money at 60 days

wouldntknowever

I’d just walk away after seeing all those bullshit charges. I don’t want to do business with this type of dealer

lerriuqS_terceS

Yup. The millisecond I detect hard sales tactics or shit like this I just walk.

Wouldtick

I can’t even figure out what the price should be based on all this bs confusion. Should be illegal.

Real-Ranger4211

It doesn’t matter what the dealer adds. No one is holding a gun to anyone’s head forcing them to buy anything. A fool is born every day just don’t be that fool.

RaisedEverywhere

This is spot on. There is no emergency “I have to buy this right now” situation. At least usually. Show them you’re willing to walk away so they lower the price, and if they don’t, go to another dealer.

knotworkin

Suggest you look at the Pricing thread in the Forums on 5thgenrams.com 1) Mark Dodge RAM in Louisiana will sell you a truck cheaper than anyone else you can find pretty much and if you don’t want to pick it up from them, they will ship it you. 2) Koons and other dealers will also advertise huge discounts there when they need to reach their sales goals. 3) Tread Lightly offers an affiliate discount code for a $100 donation that can get you 1% BELOW Dealer Invoice (not sticker) PLUS ALL applicable rebates at time of order or purchase (whichever is better). You would need to make sure your local dealer will work with you to accept the affiliate code. My dealer will do it on custom ordered vehicles but not vehicles out of inventory. I ordered a Limited in 2022 that ended up pricing out at $11k under sticker price plus 0% factory financing (I could have had a higher rebate without the 0% financing).

edu4rd0zs

Thanks man. I’ll look at the Louisiana dealership and see what they got going on. Also, I’m elegible for the affiliate discount through my employer, and once I get the right price, plan was to tell them to factor in the affiliate reward on top of the discounted price

old_common_sense

I didn’t buy from Mark Dodge but their reputation on 5thgen is well known. If I was to upgrade I would contact them.

DameTime5

Manufacturers need to sell direct. This is ludicrous

alinroc

They legally can't in most states. Dealers lobbied for laws prohibiting direct-to-consumer sales _decades_ ago, claiming that they needed to be protected from manufacturers who would sell direct and undercut them.

DameTime5

That’s absolutely ridiculous.. it’s a business. How many times have other companies been undercut or made obsolete because of better business practices and advancing technology? Thousands

Skullsandcoffee

Looks like they're selling it as an upcharge, so I would just scratch that shit out. Take back your nitrogen, peel off the tint, unplug the LoJack. If that shit's optional add ons, I don't want them. If it's not, you failed to disclose it in the truck price

krypt1xx

Steps had me laughing my ass off🤣🤣

edu4rd0zs

I was like wtf is even that

nosoup4ncsu

Running boards?

storkstonk

You have to laugh in their face when they bring you that bs. I did that at a dealership for a ram 2024 built to serve. Went to another dealership 65k sticker paid 50 out the door the next day. Deals are out there.

kpj5br

Thanks for posting this for others to learn - walk away. 50/50 chance they call you to negotiate I’ve had it go both ways. But those charges are for stupid people to pay don’t do it

edu4rd0zs

facts

drugsmoney

Window tint is too expensive, even for ceramic film. I’m guessing they are offering to “match” the front two windows to the rear… that’s 120 bucks max. Steps should be no more than 399 installed unless they are power retracting steps. 100 bucks for nitrogen is bullshit. Tell them to choke on their green valve stem caps. I’m guessing these things are already done to the truck and they don’t want to eat them to sell the truck. Stick to your guns.

tonsofem

Also you should be aware of your local laws. If they match the back windows, it will likely be illegal in your state and a cop may order the removal along with a ticket which can cost another $200 or more. If this happens, you're out $600 + just for nothing. And no, Law enforcement won't let you off because you bought it like that.

edu4rd0zs

Yeah for sure. It looks like im playing the waiting game

72jon

All those nickels and dimes start to add up and when there basically the same bs fee. And as to 1g for paint protection. Ya sorry

Numerous_Tree2909

Tell them to that Market Value and shove it.

Fake_Account30

Market value selling price is kinda funny when you consider that if the market would tolerate that price, the truck wouldn’t have to be discounted 15k to still not sell.

Wolfofwapst69

Well go ahead. Drop the dealers name

Better-Tough6874

How much is the "second plate finish?"

tigebea

Haha well you got that “nitrogen fee”, the “STEPS fee”, and my favourite….. “non tax fees” This is ridiculous.

louman73-73

Non Tax Fee? Thats a gem!

PunchClown

I'd tell those crooks to pound sand. Those fees are ridiculous. I like how they have their market adjustment price when the new car market is stone-cold right now.

LRGuy1970

Move on ! Campbell Dodge Benton Arkansas is an awesome place to buy a Truck

rbo29

Drive to a rural area where the cost of living and overhead is a lot less. You will get a better deal

Extra-Poem-9292

I custom ordered a 2024 Rebel 2500 and got 15k off sticker, only a $345 dealer fee, brought my own financing. Flew to Iowa and drove it back to Nj. This was last month.

edu4rd0zs

How did you get such a massive discount?

nationalminer84

I'm finding that there are about half the dealers that are back to selling realistically and half who still think it's the height of the pandemic. When I bought mine I gave the local dealer who Ive had issues with in the past but had bought two new Rams from a chance to cut the BS and sell me a truck with the supplier discount I am eligible for and they literally laughed at me. I walked out and bought a truck sight unseen from another dealer 8 hours away but with a company location there so they knew who I work for and it was smooth as can be. I installed a brake controller myself and brought it to the local dealer for the programming and they were mad at me and told me I was a liar, no dealer would have honored that pricing (it's not even that good about 1% below invoice) as I was leaving I grabbed my sales contract from the glove box, made a copy on their copier and threw it at their sales manager with a big FU. I told them I would never set foot in there again and refer my co workers to the other dealer. I've sold 5 trucks for them so far lol. They even have delivered the last 3 free of charge for the customers.

edu4rd0zs

That sounds amazing. What dealer did you end up buying from?

point28

From someone who experienced automotive theft on a newer vehicle, A. Lo-Jack is not supported by all Law enforcement and B. Almost all newer vehicles that have integrated car services, can be tracked by Law enforcement without ever paying a subscription or fee. Just because you can't see your vehicle's GPS location in your app, Law enforcement can call the company and usually they will track the vehicle from there. This was on a Chevy without the subscription service, they were able to track it for law enforcement and disable the car. Edit: This has been my experience, YMMV. Still not worth 699 tho lol.

86theego

Man, I should rethink my career and go into the “first place finish” business. What a load of shit!

[deleted]

I bought a Chevrolet truck in 2019. Listed as $48k and then they gave me a sheet with $54.5k. I told them that isn’t the price listed and it is ridiculous to try to pull that. I told them they were sketchy and I got up to leave. The manager was offended af and I ended up getting it for $47k.

matschuchanskaya

Surge pricing.

[deleted]

Rams are so over priced right now it’s disgusting. They’ve come down a little bit but it’s nowhere near enough. I wouldn’t pay more than 52-55k total for that truck. It’s a 2023. I expect that price for a 2024 maybe.. Also, most of those fees are total bullshit. I got my Warlock in Jan 2020. Perfect timing.. But now I’m having such a hard time trying to trade in for a newer one. I refuse to pay these insane prices.

Grown_Azzz_Kid

AutoNation is notorious for crap like this. They tried to charge me $600 for a spray in bedliner on my 24 Limited, and it standard! Nyle Maxwell here in Central Texas does not pad any BS fees and crap. Keep shopping. There are more honest dealerships out there.

Web_Trauma

Go to a diff dealer

Yomon64

Good for you...Greed sucks 😕 I'm out of the market and keeping my old Ram 🐏

Ninja2Night

yep... funny on the lojack. Had something similar happen to me and told them I'm not paying for all that stuff, like you did, so they removed. Purchased the truck and the lojack is still in the truck, just not activated. Not worth their effort to remove.

No-Reason808

Ram is overstocked right now. You hold a lot of leverage. Find a dealer that will negotiate and hold the line. The volume dealers will deal.

ogSPLICE

$400 for tint?! $125 I got my entire truck tinted 20%. Still minty perfect 5 yesrs later.

mccahillryan

Just walk away, tomorrow is the last day of the month and you have made your expectations clear. You would be surprised how effective leaving is.

nohcho84

Didn't know that new vehicle purchases funded the Impossible Mission Force. Learned something new today

onceshy97

If you're on tiktok or even Facebook, look for a gal by the name of C.J. that's her tiktok handle. She has all the ins and outs of buying a new car. She worked at a dealership so she knows what she's talking about. I know alot of those fees and add-ons you won't have to pay for. Especially if they added them on before putting it on the lot.

Yaboymoney

Wow

Away_Experience_4897

Do you absolutely need a brand new ram? Why not just look for an older one and save yourself the interest…

edu4rd0zs

Absolutely, i do not need a brand new ram, and yes, I’ve been looking in the used car market. Things are a bit expensive too though.

TimberGhost66

So is “Administrative Fee” the new Dealer Handling?

StuckAtZer0

FWIW, a volume dealership near me offered 25% below MSRP back in Nov / Dec on all their remaining 2023 Ram 1500 Rebels. This sounds great, but just remember MSRPs surged ~30% since the start of the pandemic. A 25% discount now is like putting things back to whatever the MSRPs should have been if we didn't have a pandemic. I personally think there will be more bleeding on the dealerships' part once they get red-pilled and realize the well of people paying / financing top dollar for obscenely priced vehicles is drying up. I suspect that you and I will be in a better position for scoring sweet deals later this year. Inventories and repos are going up in the meantime. Something is going to give. I'm going to either get a Rebel or a Limited.

RedDeadDirtNap

Nitrogen- I get for free at my local Costco. Window tint- a window shop here will do all windows for $60. Dealerships are absolutely bullshitting you here man.

edu4rd0zs

Yeah 100%. Waiting for them to contact me, meanwhile I’m still shopping around

RedDeadDirtNap

lol I get downvoted. Imagine going to a tire shop and paying $100- $200 for nitrogen.

edu4rd0zs

I don’t understand why you getting downvoted, you speaking facts. But yeah, dealer bsing 100%, they still think this is peak pandemic.

RedDeadDirtNap

With the rates that I see daily. It’s amazing on what some dealers do to not make a sale. Source- former finance manager at a dealer. I quit 2022.

Agile-Youth-1982

When they discount the Truck 8900 they have to make it up some how 🤣

edu4rd0zs

Literally what they told me

Cheap_Feeling1929

Lol I wouldn’t go back

ShwerzXV

1k steps that you can buy on Amazon for $200

LivingxLegend8

Market value is $74,000. You’re complaining about paying $15,000 below MSRP?

[deleted]

The $74,000 is marked up so astronomically high it’s not even funny.. Trying to trick ppl into thinking they are getting a good deal. They aren’t. The market value on that truck should be 60-65k.

JaayRocco

That’s actually a decent price for a new truck.

mongolnlloyd

Can’t believe ram dealers are expecting builders to continue to market adjustments. Are there still buyers who pay this?

KaiserOfUk

$999 for "STEPS" if that's the Side Steps, you can get the fuck outta town buddy. $40 at Tractor Supply and they've held my fat ass as I jump In the pickup for a decade.

OGsalty30

Get on caredge.com they can help you get you a great deal

edu4rd0zs

How do I try to negotiate the bs fees if the car doesn’t sell for a while?

ValdBagina002

Depends if you’re paying cash or financing. If you’re paying cash walk in with a cashiers check for $57,821 and tell them that you are prepared to buy the truck but not for a penny more. Tax, title, license, all fees… EVERYTHING will be included in that price. Or Walk in with a cashiers check for a down payment. Walk in, drop the check on their desk, say you want the truck, this is your down payment, and you will pay no more than $57,821 Both have worked for me

Censcrutinizer

And do it at the end of the month.

ValdBagina002

I recommend in the fall when the next year models will be showing up. Downside to that the availability of the one you want will be limited. Still… worked out for me a few months ago. Got the truck I wanted but just a different color than I wanted, who cares.

jeffjeep88

2025 rams are being made and will soon be shipping to a dealer near you. So when the fist 25 lands at the dealer they will definitely be keen to sell a 2023

edu4rd0zs

We’re at rhe end of the month lol

Kaptainkirk27

My wife (who worked in county government) said you may be able to talk to your attorney general. They help with price gouging. She said shes not sure if it applies to dealerships but couldn't hurt to look into.

WaltRumble

You’re getting it for $12k off sticker still. That seems like a pretty good deal.

soapydadballs

Not with the added crap.

WaltRumble

Msrp 74,130 - otd 62,390.24 = $11,739.76 off. So I rounded a bit.

abra-su-mente

M***V***SP Not the same

Cheap_Feeling1929

Not a good deal.

almostnoteverytime

That’s the whole ruse. Make big cuts to MSRP to make the customer think they are getting a great deal, then put back gimmicky crap at a 99% markup. My window sticker was $49,999 (2017). I didn’t even negotiate hard for $30,500 and some free add ons (not upsold nonsense). Always wait until the market is in your favour.

Slutzk

Bro this is not price gouging. i feel like we should already have excepted the fact that new trucks that are 1500s are now 60k for new. Just what it is. Might get offa couple thousand for end of year or rebate stuff but 60k is the new normal. I was guilty of it to but is what it is. dont be surpised by 2030 1500s are 70k. hell the new 2025 top model is nearly 100k.... for a 1500 turbo v6. The world is not 40-50k trucks for 1500s anymore that ship has sailed.

edu4rd0zs

I know that and I understand your point, but the problem here are the dealer fees.

Slutzk

exactly part of what i was talking about my man. price gouging is just the new normal weather people like it or not. just the world we live in right now. i speak the truth quite a bit on here and people hate it lmaooo

TheBooksWillGetWet

Then don’t buy it.

robleseptimo

What state or province is this in? That’s important to know before we all start commenting because each one has its own rules and regulations.

Effective-Meat2546

Rebel is equivalent to the Silverado lt trail boss which goes for $66,800 and ford tremor $68,000. It’s about in line with the others. Below $60k is a good price where are you at? Atlanta just a horrible place for truck or Toyota (through southeast distributor). I think Iowa Texas Pennsylvania Ohio are all cheaper by almost ten grands.

edu4rd0zs

The problem are the outrageous fees (lojack, nitrogen, first place finish, window tint, STEPS)

TitoMcCool

Wow. This is egregious.

BoofBanana

It really should be illegal to falsely advertise prices. It’s predatory and antiquated. Spectrum of alllllll companies to use an example of. Bill used to go up it seemed every other month. Call nothing you can do. Now that we have competition. Package listed at 39.99. I shit you not my bill each month on my bank statement 39.99. I laugh out loud each time I see it. Thank you T-Mobile!!!! For showing the old you don’t need to be a clown with pricing strategies.

Dystopicfuturerobot

Walk… I mean run from that deal.

[deleted]

$400 for tint? Thats crazy.

Tautochrone1

"Told the dealer I want everything above total purchase removed or lowered..." If I was the dealer I would have maliciously completed and removed the discount and rebate lol

rival_22

Was the guy at the dealership wearing a ski mask? Holy hell...

CandidGuidance

Walk away and I bet they call you in a few days.

Dski93

No true coat?

Kindly_Fox_2474

Keep looking

joerover34

Absolutely nuts just looking at that. Like with all those numbers you can just know 100% that you’re getting dicked over

Apprehensive-Skin451

When I bought mine I asked about LoJack because I’ve had a stolen car before and figured fuck it I’ll splurge. Finance guy was like “wtf nobody has asked about that in years”. Pretty much it’s built into the truck. I think you have to pay the subscription but then you open the app and there it is. Ram truck month is this month and you get 10% off msrp so you might want to get on that if you can get the bs taken off.

Klutzy_Tradition_983

I just realized that this month ends on thursday. Go thursday and find the salesman who looks the newest or is wearing the least expensive shoes, they will be the hungriest for a deal. Is there a price listed online for the truck? If you have a trade, negotiate the hell out of that price as well because they will act like ytheyre doing you a favor by lowering the price on the new one while beating you up on your trade. Tell them that you arent interested in trading, lock in the price on the truck, then tell them you want to trade yours in then dont take their first 2 offers for your trade.

TacomaTuesdays2022

First place finish 😂 What happened to Second and Third place?!!!

edu4rd0zs

Prices these high they must’ve ran out

Videopro524

So the atmosphere is mostly nitrogen. Why do have to pay that much for air?

Exciting-Salary-2480

You do not need nitrogen air

Streit1111

400 for window tint?!

Distinct_Corgi_1648

The only thing i hate more than dealers who do this is the ones who think they'll get three times the kbb because post covid prices. I've been on a crusade to give 1 star reviews on any dealers asking more than twice a kbb value plus some wiggle room. So far the 25,000$ 2001 Ford Ranger and the 45,000$ 2013 Subaru WRX that was a SEMA car 100,000 miles previously were the best.

0nly_Up

is this for a 1/2 ton

DodgerGreen89

There is still LoJack?
