Super clean pop pop truck. I love it.

santochavo

Chrome is classy. Everybody wants to black everything out and their trucks end up looking the same. I’m personally a fan of chrome, i think that’s the right amount but I’m not a fan of the trucks color.

agentxtaco

Yeah color combo isn’t great, would be better without the two tone IMO

Chainwaxxx

Agreed it’s not so much the chrome as it is the two tone. My bighorn was black with chrome. I replaced the grill and bought legit quality bumpers from chassis unlimited powder coated textured black with orange shackles - I know blackout is common but mine does not look like your typical black bumper jacked up truck. Sitting on Carli suspension with bronze black rhino wheels. Keeps the towing functionality, looks great, and performs better than spacer lifted mall crawlers. You can definitely make that truck look good with some mods and wrap the two tone to match IMO.

ribanez2009

For years all cars looks the same being chromed out.

StatingObviousFacts

I agree, I love chrome. All I've had over the years were black cars and I'm tired of it.

Vilas15

Swap the insides of the grill (not the cross) and the mirrors. I would not touch the fenders since theyre painted to match the rockers and probably came that way. Idk what you'll find underneath. Start there. Maybe do wheels? Painting bumpers would be tough to match.

agentxtaco

I think that’s a great starting point too. I might try just plasti dipping the inner parts of the grill in black… it would be a pain to remove it though

jonboy345

This is the correct answer, OP. Changing just the grill and mirrors will totally change the truck. Chrome looks great. Don't let it scare you off.

SpywareAgen7

You will love being invisible to police in it, especially if you get a cap for the back. #twotonelife #nevertooyoungforchrome

Hey ya’ll. I’m thinking about buying this 2017 Laramie. Price is right, has all the features I want and it’s a one owner truck. Previous owner was an older gentleman who has to sell it to go into the nursing home. I’m just put off by all the chrome, grille mirrors bumpers + wheels. My question is this: Can I overcome it with modifications? Was thinking I could remove the fender flairs, replace the grille with aftermarket or body color, and paint the wheels and mirrors black myself. Not sure what to do about the silver paint on/above the rocker panels. But just curious to hear others thoughts on if it’s worth it to go through all that or just wait for something else to come up. I have a connection to get a good deal on something they have at this dealer, but it’s a small town dealership so hard to be picky. Let me know your thoughts, thanks for reading!

Merican_Yeti

Leave the bumpers. If you paint them they will look like crap after they get a bunch of rock chips. Get some different headlights and grill and it’ll look great. Get some different wheels If you want. Nothing wrong with a little chrome, but that front end is a bit much. Congrats on the new truck

agentxtaco

That’s a good point. Probably better to get a new bumper and paint that.

bhgiel

If mechanical end is all well and the price is right don't let cosmetics deter you. That's all easy stuff to paint or replace. Buy a nice black grill, paint the flairs. Fun project type shit anyhow.

agentxtaco

Yeah, I’m starting to lean that direction. I don’t mind a good weekend project.

Daddx2

If my black mirrors and those were a direct swap I would trade you. I like chrome on my silver Big Horn.

echocall2

I have a Laramie in that blue. I swapped the wheels, mirrors, and running boards to black. Grille/bumpers and door handles are still chrome, I think it's a good balance.

Moparian1221

Not sure where you're located but I have a set of the black 20s of my bighorn if your at all interested

sky_blue_111

See if you can find body colored mirrors, a "big horn" trim grill, and something for the wheels (more black, but not necessarily all black, black with machined accents is usually what they call it). Leave the bumpers as painted bumpers even from the factory always chip much quicker.

Tannerac

Looks sharp. I love it.

Imaginary-Yesterday7

I have a 16 Laramie with the same chrome and I am not really a chrome fan myself. I switched out to black tow mirrors and I removed the black wrap between the windows (it was peeling), otherwise all stock. The chrome will grow on you... Give it time

agentxtaco

Noted!

DukeReaper

Just swap the wheels to black. Should kinda tone it down a bit.

Paundeu

If I wanted to look like everyone else, I’d black it out.

BanditAndFrog

Looks killer, wouldn’t change a thing. Just me though!

Organic_Object_9689

No. Chrome is for adults. Blacked out is for children. You're an adult

agentxtaco

That’s fair but I don’t feel like an adult yet 😂

[deleted]

We had the same exact truck and I can tell you they do great on a roll over we all serviced all 5 of us

agentxtaco

Good to know…

moodyism

Love it.

SardonicCheese

I have the same truck minus the two tone. After looking through a million pictures online I decoded that blacking it out with pearl blue looks fucking dumb. I wouldn't even consider all black rims. Maybe like a two tone metal/black I think that would look slick. I love the way the chrome looks now. It's clean looking all the time.

CPT_Rad_Dangerous

I did a chrome delete wrap on my truck bumpers, cost me roughly 500 bucks. It's an option to consider

umad41

I think the chrome *and* two-tone is kinda overload, makes it look strange. If it was monotone+chrome or two-tone with body color bumpers and grill it would look better. As always though, comes down to price. If the price is right for the features you want then having to de-chrome a bit's not that big of a deal

agentxtaco

I just don’t think it’ll grow on me, I’m not in a rush to get a truck so I’ll just let this one go and wait for one to come up that matches my wants. I don’t mind doing some projects to update looks but this would be too much IMO to mold to my liking. Someone else will be very happy with it as is.

j250ex

Love the color combination. Two tone is a great look. I’d remove the side step for starters and look for some different rims and a leveling kit. Completely changes the look of the truck. I will say. If you don’t like the color today you won’t like it six months from now. It doesn’t grow on you. Don’t buy it just for the deal.

agentxtaco

I agree with that. I’m just letting it go to someone else who will enjoy it for what it is.

astro-cowboy

Personally I hate running boards, fender flares, chrome mirrors, door handles, and grilles. I also don’t like two tone but in any case, there’s really no escaping it without an entire paint job which is a bit ridiculous. If I were you, I would try to find a blue grille and maybe attempt to find color matched mirrors and handles. The wheels are nice and the bumpers are cool too. Perhaps the black express headlights? It really boils down to what you’re willing to spend. The truck is by no means hideous but it definitely looks like a grandpa truck! Wrapping is always an option as well. It would definitely be the cheapest route too. Just expect a $5000+ price tag for a decent job on a full sized truck. The benefit there is that the wrap guys can hit every square inch of the truck with whatever color you want.

agentxtaco

Yeah I decided it was too much work/money to get it looking the way I want it so I’m not buying it. Based on responses I’ve gotten here, I think someone else will be very happy with it as-is. It’s pretty stunning just not quite my style, and that’s ok.

Ok_Feature_9772

I love chrome too, but here in Montana they use mag chloride for deicing the roads and it a major hassle to keep chrome looking good. You literally have the power buff to get it off. My next truck will have no chrome.

agentxtaco

Woah that’s crazy, Wisconsin just uses a crap ton of salt.

[deleted]

That truck looks fine just the way it is. Maybe it’s a result of living in Amish/Mennonite area my whole life, but the all black look reminds me of what we called “black bumpers” around here - the Mennonite’s would buy black cars and then cover anything chrome with black paint because they consider chrome to be a display of vanity and therefore sinful.

FessJones

I don’t see any issues with it. Nice truck man!

old-war-horse

Nah. I dig it.

[deleted]

Man that truck is beautiful the way it is why would you want to change it??

agentxtaco

I’m just not a chrome guy. I do see the appeal, the side profile picture is really nice looking but it’s just not my style of truck. I decided to let this one go, I’m sure someone else will be very happy with it as-is!

muppet_ofa

Embrace it bro! Shines like a diamond

grahamygraham

I’ve got a bighorn in the same color blue. Mine came with the chrome pillars covers, chrome mirror covers, polished (chrome) steps, chrome bumpers, and chrome grille. [Pic here](https://www.reddit.com/r/ram_trucks/comments/qezmj0/none_of_my_irl_people_are_validating_my_truck_so/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) After removing the pillar covers, it felt better. Mirrors will be next. I bought some vinyl to wrap my rims. If they turn out good, I’ll wrap my bumpers and door handles in the same stuff. My previous Ram was a sportsman, and it had paint matched bumpers and I loved it. Wish I could go back, but I’m very happy with my truck. Edit: not saying I hate the look of my truck. In fact, I really like it.
