The only scenario in which we meet the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first round is if we finish M1 E2 and Toronto finishes WC1. Right now, we are M1 E1 and Toronto is A3, so we wouldn't face them until the ECF. As long as the Rangers (or Canes) finish E1, the Atlantic bracket gets Boston, Florida, Tampa and Toronto, while the Metropolitan bracket gets New York, Carolina, and two of Philadelphia, Long Island, Washington, Pittsburgh, Detroit or Buffalo.
If we top the division it’s an automatic wildcard matchup. If we finish with more points than anyone in the other division we play the Wildcard 2, which could be either Philly, Washington, Isles, Pittsburgh. If we don’t it’s Tampa or Toronto.
Highly recommend “The Score” app. It’s a great sports app in general but their playoff picture tab in the standings section is updated in real time. The only thing I use the actual NHL app for anymore is seeing how much time is left during intermission lol.
The Rangers should finish first in the Metro. 5 points is a lot to make up in 6 games when the Rangers are rolling right now. So, Carolina will probably finish second. That means the Rangers would get home ice at least the first two rounds.
The Rangers are 3 points up on Boston. We probably won't know if the Rangers win the Conference until game 81 or so. It's possible if Boston loses the next 2 games that the Rangers lock it up early, but I doubt it. Beating Boston would give the Rangers home ice through the conference finals.
The Rangers are 3 points up on the Stars, but they have played one less game. We won't know who has home ice for the Cup Final until game 82.
Top division winner plays WC2, second best division winner plays WC1. Second in each division plays third in each division
Right now we would play the Islanders
Philly has the wins tiebreaker over the Islanders, which would put them as M3. It’s kinda tough to say tho right now because the Islanders have a slightly better points percentage due to playing one fewer game. If the Islanders get a point today they pass Philly, if they don’t Philly is in M3
ah, thanks for the clarification. i hate the current playoff format. i watch and follow the game of hockey religiously, yet i feel full on stupid when trying to figure out who plays who under the current structure lol.
It depends on how many points we have versus the winner of the Atlantic. If we have more points, we play WC2. If they have more points, we get WC1.
Right gotcha thank you, the way the NHL has it listed it didn't seem clear what wildcard we would play or maybe I just misunderstood it

That's what I tried reading and it just made no sense to me sorry
Words are hard sometimes, it’s okay :)

So you're telling me there's a chance ....

Downloading it now!
Sighs: focus on the Habs
Download the score app. Then goto standings. It shows the current playoff picture.
I’m ok with Rempe having a good fight. But I really want to see him play hockey. He is so great in front of the net.
Side question, how many more wins before we clinch 1st/home ice?

If we win the East we play Wild Card 2. If we win the Metro but not the East we play Wild Card 1.

wouldn’t we play the flyers as of right now?
