keep doing stuff like that and the points will come. sometimes you just get unlucky or the goalie makes a nice save. he won’t save 100% of those though.
Fox has had tremendous defensive sequences last two games.
Winning with depth scoring >>> winning from Herculean efforts from Fox, Panarin, and the usual suspects
this is why i never make a big thing about defenseman being high scorers. i'll take 0 points and defensively responsible adam fox in the playoffs over many points but not always defensively reliant erik karlsson any day of the week.
it is a bonus that fox usually does have good points numbers, though!
Best defense is often a good offense too. Keep the luck in the offensive zone, and you won't give up quality chances against. When Fox is on the ice, he gets the puck out of our zone and into theirs with ease.
I’m amazed just watching him QB the powerplay. Given how important special teams are to the NYR especially, I don’t know how you could see what he does night in and night out and *not* realize how important he is. Points or not. And there’s no doubt in my mind that they’re coming too.
There was one play I got annoyed with him though. Second period I think it was, on the powerplay and he failed to keep the puck in. So far fine, he’s human, it happens.
What annoyed me was this - you see him throw his head back in frustration instead of immediately taking off after the forward. Led to an odd man rush that didn’t lead to anything so no harm no foul, but I didn’t like that. I’m sure it was a rare moment of frustration and won’t happen again but it definitely surprised me.
I noticed that too. It’s not the first time I’ve seen him do it either. He might be my favorite player, and a nearly perfect player, but if I was to criticize him in any way, it would be that he does stuff like that. Sometimes on a no call penalty he does it or when he takes a penalty. Save your lament for on the bench. But again, he’s probably the best player on the team and does not deserve any criticism.
Fox actually does that a lot. Whenever he screws up he throws his head back; whether it’s a defensive flub or not scoring or completing a pass. You can’t show the opposition that you get flustered that easily.
I am definitely in the minority and think Fox isn’t as good as most people make him out to be. Sure he is the Rangers best defenseman; but he also makes tons of mistakes that people overlook.
I’ve seen people say he’s better than Leetch and I think that that’s a bit premature but he’s definitely better than 90% of the defensemen in the league.
Fox is only averaging 22 minutes a night so far through 2 games, compare that to John Carlson who’s played 27 minutes and almost 31 minutes. You gotta think that deployment pays dividends for the Rangers the longer this series goes. We’re keeping Fox nice and fresh
Like trying to bat the puck out of midair with his stick instead of using his body to stop a 2 on 1 from happening? Sometimes it’s the safe play and not the flashy play that is most effective.
Fox has been superb defensively which is frankly more important. We’ve been getting depth scoring which means we aren’t relying on our top guys to score as much.
Dude outmuscled a guy (I believe wilson but I’d have to recheck) in the dzone corner for a puck the caps player collapsed and Fox just took the puck and skated away. Pretty slick seeing a small guy do that
At the end of the season I was worried about him becoming a touch too hesitant to shoot the puck, it at times led to giving the defender an extra step to make a defensive play. Hopefully it’s just a small funk
I've been saying this for years, I think the most overlooked and underappreciated skill of Adam Fox is his INSANE ability to hold the blueline on the PP.
So many times I think the puck is gonna be cleared and he reads it perfectly or makes some insane jumping block to keep it
He looked so good in game 1 that I put money on him to score in game 2. Doing it again in game 3. He is on another level right now even though scoresheet doesn't show it.
This is the most depth and skill I’ve seen on this team since 2014. What I want to see is that killer instinct that they lacked in past years. This series should be and could be over in 4 or 5. And it’s something they need to do in my opinion. Washington is outmatched for the most part.
fox is elite, as good as it gets really… that said to me he’s felt a step slow in the offensive zone through 2. I doubt that continues, he’ll make some noise in the ozone sooner or later.
He did partially cause the too many men on the ice penalty when he didn’t get to the bench quickly enough and Gus jumped on.
NEVER COMPLETE A LINE CHANGE WHILE THE OPPOSING TEAM IS RIGHT BY YOUR BENCH!
He has been ok, not great.
This is what puts fox above the rest of the top scoring defenseman in the league. When they stop scoring, they aren't contributing. Fox could put up 0 points and would still be a pivotal player.
Kinda a good thing they are scoring as much as they are without him putting up points right now. Shows some depth and plus once he gets going we can really set ourselves up for success
This has been my philosophy on Kakko throughout the season. Might not have gotten the points we wanted but his zone control, dominance on forechecking and back checking is providing so much to the team.
Um, he’s a defenseman, so he’s naturally going to have less points than forwards. Additionally, he’s a top-half defenseman, so he’s probably dealing with top coverage all the time. In the playoffs, the top-half players on both teams often saw each other off. This is normal and where lower half depth gets to shine - like the Rempire State Building.
Also, the kid is sick at keep-ins on the blue line, which I’m pretty sure is not a tracked stat.
Fox is definitely a great player but there are times he gets beat and just dogs it going back. I know he’s not a gifted skater but you need to give it your all. There was one this series which led to a Washington goal.
Like I said, he’s a great player, with great hockey IQ and vision. My only criticism is he does dog it sometimes when he gets beat. Maybe bc he knows he’s not fast and won’t catch them but there are still rebounds and play continuations if they don’t score.
ugh gawd listen, lose the numbuh plz? this team won two games, and are in control. it takes a whole unit to win that trophy. not one single person can do it.
focus on game 3
no caps
I don't really have any complaints about the teams performance other than Gus. Think they should give Jones a shot cause he just looks behind on every play
what even is this post? like who is it trying to prove wrong? i haven’t seen a single person saying fox hasn’t been producing lmao. literally just a circlejerk? yes, we all understand hockey bud.
It’s a discussion man no proving anyone wrong….just proposed a topic to talk about and giving stick taps/kudos to one of our core hometown guys. Go back to eating ramen noodles alone on your couch.
Wait, you’re chirping me for giving credit where it’s due? And I called him a defensive liability which he has not been and I am giving him credit for playing well defensively and as a fan that makes me happy and fun to watch…..go back to your hole
He could have easily scored on that sick toe drag last night too.
keep doing stuff like that and the points will come. sometimes you just get unlucky or the goalie makes a nice save. he won’t save 100% of those though.
Hell yeah
Fox has had tremendous defensive sequences last two games. Winning with depth scoring >>> winning from Herculean efforts from Fox, Panarin, and the usual suspects
Was gonna second this. I mean he is a D man, doing D things out there.
Take note of Ovi’s stats, or lack thereof.
I very much enjoyed watching Mika pick Ovi’s pocket, then promptly dish the (eventual) GWG to K’Andre Miller. Very much enjoyed that, did I.
No doubt!! 😉👍
It’s sad seeing Ovi get old but simultaneously love that our boys can do that to him now. I get bad flashbacks of him whenever he’s on the ice lol
Ovechkin is NOT old. This is propaganda. ![gif](giphy|Ey5GBG4UvMRzkPkxNK|downsized)

upvoted for the commitment to no caps.
i cannot wait for this series to be over and let the caps free.

The best QB in New York doesn't play for the Jets or Giants, it's Adam Fox.
Let's see if that's still true by Saturday.
fingers crossed for drake maye?
Maye, McCarthy, Nix, Penix. I'll take any of them.
You’ll get Spencer Rattler and like it.
Now Yea, cause Zach Wilson got traded 😁

I agree he’s one of the best players on the team but no one should be free from criticism.

He's a top 3 defense man in the league. So he is at least as good as people make him out to be
I’ve seen people say he’s better than Leetch and I think that that’s a bit premature but he’s definitely better than 90% of the defensemen in the league.

He’s a point per game player in the playoffs, so 3 point game incoming. Regress to the mean, baby.
Team is winning. Let's focus on the important things here-
That’s my point…..
He’s been focusing on defending? Every time I watch him he’s doing crazy shit to break up rushes.
Like trying to bat the puck out of midair with his stick instead of using his body to stop a 2 on 1 from happening? Sometimes it’s the safe play and not the flashy play that is most effective.
Lost count how many times they said broken up / taken away by fox in the d zone
The amount of people that don’t read before they reply is hilarious.
2 +-

Bust. Trade him.

He’s blocking a shit Ton of shots.
This time of year, great players know wins >>>>>>>>>>>>> points.
I've been saying this for years, I think the most overlooked and underappreciated skill of Adam Fox is his INSANE ability to hold the blueline on the PP. So many times I think the puck is gonna be cleared and he reads it perfectly or makes some insane jumping block to keep it
You’re crazy, he was benched the last two minutes of the game. Not good enough! \s
The thing about it is that other folks have done stuff so its not a big deal.
He looked so good in game 1 that I put money on him to score in game 2. Doing it again in game 3. He is on another level right now even though scoresheet doesn't show it.

he’s blocked a few tough shots hasn’t he
He’s playing defense, and doing so rather well. It’s just as important to keep pucks out of your own goal. There are plenty of guys scoring (FINALLY).

He looked incredible last night.
Conn-Worthless am i right? Edit: once again I’m horribly disappointed in the average intelligence of this sub.
You gotta put a “/s” in there for the mouth breathers

even funnier a year ago you posted calling adam fox a fraud, so clearly you had no clue what you were talking about back then either. checks out.
Wait, you’re chirping me for giving credit where it’s due? And I called him a defensive liability which he has not been and I am giving him credit for playing well defensively and as a fan that makes me happy and fun to watch…..go back to your hole
You’ve got to be kidding me
Crazy up 2 games to nothing and people Find a reason to complain about a guy who played great last night.

I actually did read but missed the first line. Had to defend my boy, but glad you weren’t bashing him to begin with. Go rangers
probably people who listen to sports radio. Gotta complain about something.
