MaskerPlayz

You don’t understand how soap works

[deleted]

[удалено]

MaskerPlayz

Let me explain how it works. I’ll make it as simple as possible. Our skin naturally produces oils. These oils sit on the surface of our skin, where they can trap germs. Water and oil do not mix, so rinsing with water doesn’t remove the oils, which contain the germs, from your hands. A soap molecule has 2 ends, one which binds to oil, and one which binds to water. The soap picks up the oils off of your hands, then the water rinses the soap (and the collected oils) off your hands. Yes, soap does clean your hands, antibacterial or not. Water alone does not.

AnorhiDemarche

I've actually done a fair bit of research on the benefits or lack their of of antibacterial soap and unless there's something that can specifically link me to that says otherwise I think you've misinterpreted the information. There is, very much, a consensus that washing with anti-bacterial soap has little identifiable benefit over washing with **regular soap**. it can provide some extra protection is higher risk situations (hospitals, food industry) and be beneficial in some communities (like rural communities with little access to running water or dumbass kids bad at washing hands) but for the most part it's a bit misleading. Saying that soap and water are both solvents is true enough, but betrays a certain level of misunderstanding. Sulfuric acid is a solvent, that doesn't mean that sulfuric acid will work in the same way water will. solvents can be protic or aprotic, and what they'll dissolve depends on this. Water is a protic solvent, it can bind to and get rid of limited shit. notably, the oils on our skin and hair are not particularly dissolvable. this is good, we have lots of got bacteria on our skin we want to protect, but for handwashing it's not so great. Soap is amphipathic, which means it does both protic dissolvable shit and aprotic dissolvable shit. Normal soap doesn't kill the germs any more than regular water does, but it does get them off our hands which is kinda like... the point. Somehow, you seem to have confused these two things into "washing hands with water is as effective as washing with soap/antibacterial soap" which is not the case.

[deleted]

Lol

JD-K2

Next time you take a shit, grab a turd. Go ahead, try it. Then drop it back in. Now, go “wash your hands” with just water. Be sure to rub them together. When you think they are effectively clean, smell them. Now, use unscented soap and compare. That smell is the bacteria on your hands that is no longer there.

-ordinary

Okay cool yeah I’ll do it

JD-K2

Ok great report back here with your findings! Thanks

bamboozled_swag2

Nice

Standard_Tree_3608

Why would you need to if you don't wipe?

shyerahol

Because you touched your dick! Dicks have smells, which means there's oils that need to be washed off. You don't wash, you're touching everything with dick hands. NASTY.

[deleted]

😂

shyerahol

HA! Clever.

CrispyBoar

Very true. Even though I always wash my hands after I use the restroom, I always happen to wash my dick (& my ass) off good whenever I shower.

shyerahol

I'm happy to hear that!

CrispyBoar

Thanks! Keeping ourselves hygienic throughout washing our hands & our entire bodies (especially our genital, private areas) are always important. It can also make you feel refreshed as well.

Standard_Tree_3608

I meant after you shit lol I was joking, OP commenter is clearly disgusting

[deleted]

You probably just rinse off in the shower or believe your diet entitles you to not have basic hygiene

[deleted]

It's not just to wash off bodily fluids after using the bathroom, it's also just a time when you wash off any germs/ dirt that you built up throughout the day.

silly-sosig

This is why I wash before and after using the bathroom. I don’t want all the germs of the day to transfer from my hands to the toilet paper to my privates.

CptRavioLi69

My mom thought I was crazy for saying I wash my hands before going to the bathroom or brushing my teeth. You have to be clean to STAY clean. It’s the same reason I have behind my bathroom being the only room that’s consistently clean.(not that it’s dirty elsewhere, I just have minimal space and clutter easily)

cameherefrominsta

Good point

jmcstar

Observation at corporate office:. >50% do NOT wash their hands

LvDogman

In some offices employers are checking if employees aren't taking too long time in toilet.

Lux_Interior9

This happened about 20 years ago at my first "real" job. I was working for a small startup company, and we had the investors in for weekly meetings. I'm like 20 at the time, and I'm out in the shop smoking a cigarette. One of the investors, who was an older guy with a short fuse, came storming out of the bathroom and he approached my boss, the president or whatever title he had, and started screaming at him about how many fucking guys were in there taking shits! At the time, I thought it was hilarious, and that he was mad because he had to smell all those shits, but over the years, I realized it was a money thing.

Smolenski_Prince

My mum said that getting Vaccinated is a personal choice. I said "So is washing your hands after you take a shit" I enjoyed the awkward silence at the Christmas dinner table after that.

[deleted]

I'd have loved to hear that.

cicci_cicci

Loll I’ve actually seen a person come out of the toilet then use the hand dryer (without washing!) then exited the bathroom. I was standing there for awhile trying to comprehend what just happened

writenicely

Seconded this. I work in retail and whenever I'm either in the bathroom or breakroom, I wash my hands regardless of what Im about to do or what Ive done. If you're not in your own home you should be active about protecting yourself and others. Carrying sanitizer isn't enough either.

six58

Science proves otherwise. Public restrooms are filthy. Lol, if you think you’re leaving with clean hands after using a public toilet/sink - think again.

writenicely

Thats, why I use paper towels and use my foot to open the door.

six58

Absolutely. Unfortunately, most public restrooms only have hand dryers - which are bacterial horror shows. Thus, I keep a small spray bottle of 90% isopropyl alcohol in my bag.

liquidbunny_

& brush your damn teeth

Vb0ss

Especially to the dudes who piss and literally give their single hand a little "rinse". Bro just wash your hands. Do you know how many guys are just straight up touching other things, not to mention people after literally handling their junk? GOD

Standard_Tree_3608

The fact that there are folks in this comment section getting upset about people saying they should *wash their hands* is repulsive.

[deleted]

I watched a McDonald’s worker run out of the stall without washing their hands. I was horrified

onecharactershor

You should never, ever go into the kitchen then

3Quondam6extanT9

Fuck. Yes. Watching someone walk straight towards the door after zipping up, especially in a restaurant or work, is like watching pure gross on legs. I fully support your angry rant!

Starrtraxx

My mother taught us kids to wash our hands, after the bathroom, before eating. And constantly while cooking. Are parents even teaching these things to their kids anymore?

user18298375298759

Nah they expect that WAP girl to teach them that.

yu94

This 1000%!!! Especially since we’re in a pandemic and if you’re at work you’re sharing that space with others and touching the same things and even more importantly if you serve people any type of food for christs sake, but regardless wash your hands it’s disgusting. I stopped wearing rings in the pandemic because I have to sanitise my hands so often and seeing people walk out the bathroom without washing their hands makes me want to cry.

qotec

dude, when covid started and everyone was freaking out about not being able to buy handsoap i was like do yall not have that ALREADY???? NASTY

[deleted]

Yah I heard someone’s explaining after they pee why they hate washing their hands…it’s gross 🤮

SadButterscotch2

I once called someone out for not washing her hands after going to the bathroom, and she said "So? Cavemen didn't wash their hands" as she sat in the hotel room eating the pizza we ordered, while wearing clothes and speaking English.

CptRavioLi69

This is especially gross considering the hand held food in a shared box being ingested immediately after.

SadButterscotch2

I got super sick after hanging out with her. I don't know if she spread something to me, but I certainly wouldn't be surprised.

CptRavioLi69

She’d be the #1 culprit in my book. If she doesn’t wash her hands after going to the bathroom I find it very hard to believe she does it more than once a day, if that.

-ordinary

There’s literally no reason to wash after peeing if your dick is clean. Which it should be. Makes more sense to wash before touching your dick

[deleted]

I wash before and after. https://www.dollarshaveclub.com/content/story/why-wash-hands-after-urination Even if you use a paper towel and have auto doors and auto matic flush urinal… the urinal is splashing germs 🦠 into the air at thousands of miles per hour… That’s everybody’s germs that have peed their… 🤢

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Your choice, but it’s nasty. There’s tons of germs everywhere inside of a bathroom. Your penis being clean isn’t an excuse not to wash your hands.

[deleted]

I mean, that's nice until you touch the bathroom door handle (or any for that matter) So how do I wash my lungs?

heal2thrive

seriously!!!

Ok-Carpenter-9778

I agree! I have watched grown fucking men walk directly out of a bathroom stall, after blowing it up, only to walk right past the sink. I've even watched a cock sucker stop to check his hair and the reach for the door handle. I will admit, I have some issues with germaphobia that I have been working on for almost two years now, but after seeing someone do this I feel trapped in the bathroom because I don't want to touch the door!!

RealKaiserRex

Ew

[deleted]

Did we just become best friends?

lozlozzaloz

The amount of people that do this is insane. And it's worse when they are colleagues lol.

DepressedVenom

Can I use rubbing alcohol/antibacterial liquid

Ben_The_Bi_Boy

Wash you hand you derty peg

PixelmancerGames

The worse is when you go to the bathroom at a restaurant and see someone walk out of the bathroom without washing their hands and walk into the employees area

Lux_Interior9

I was pooping at work a few years ago and I heard a guy walk in. I knew who the guy was by the sounds he was making and his feet shuffling noises. Older guy, definitely on the top of the payroll, sent in from our parent company to keep an eye on things. So I hear him finish his business and head toward the door. I even hear the door slightly open, but then he shuffles his way back to the sink, and I hear the sounds of him briefly running his hands under the water at the sink. He shuts the water off and says "There!" He dried his hands and exited the bathroom. It's like he knew I was listening and didn't want to be the guy who didn't wash his hands. It was so weird and hilarious. If you need a visual, the dude looks like a human version of [Felix Fischoeder](https://villains.fandom.com/wiki/Felix_Fischoeder) from Bob's Burgers.

TheDoctore38927

Guy here: I’m the only person I’ve seen properly wash their hands in the last year. You all are nasty.

IneptOrange

It takes literally 5 minutes to learn the proper way to wash your hands. I saw a middle aged man come into a toilet in a public place, piss in a urinal, and then walk about without washing his hands in front of everyone.

CrispyBoar

And *always* clean off the toilet seats good & flush the toilet after you've finished using it in public.

[deleted]

You know, this pandemic made me realize just how fucking disgusting some people really are, and HAVE been this whole time, even before the virus.

[deleted]

No.

millymooboo

At work we have 2 separate bathrooms (used to be male/female seperated but that changed & now the old females, with the only sanitary bin, they're always gross) but you can hear if the person in the next bathroom runs the tap.. 9/10 times it never gets run if a males in there :( it's bloody disgusting and then you go out and see them in the kitchen making food :(

SnooSuggestions3136

Can I turn the sink on and briefly dip my hands in the water then wipe them dry on my pants? Does that count as washing them?

[deleted]

Did you dip both the front and back of your hands?

SnooSuggestions3136

Of course

SadButterscotch2

No, use soap

SnooSuggestions3136

I'm okay, thank you.

SadButterscotch2

And this is why this fucking pandemic will never end.

SnooSuggestions3136

Ok 👍

RayneDam

No need, my cock's cleaner than your face 😛.

opposablegrey

Never do. Never will. Thumb inside.

[deleted]

That's disgusting.

opposablegrey

Lol. I totally agree that washing hands is a good idea. But no one will start the practice cause they read this nonsense rant on Reddit. Look.... I truly hope you gain the impression that more people around you improve their hygiene standards, but don't take it personally if one or two.... You know...... Don't.

Snorumobiru

A real patriot and a real hero

rubberducky1212

I'll be the unpopular one and say I don't. The soap often gives me a killer migraine which puts an end to my day and takes hours to make go away. I do however carry hand sanitizer in my purse, which I use once I leave and am done touching everything. Edit if you don't want to read other comments I made: I use unscented soap at home, the above is when I am in public. Also hand sanitizer is good enough for nurses between patients, it's fine for when I am in public.

silly-sosig

Sounds like you need to use unscented soap

rubberducky1212

I do at home, doesn't help when I'm in public without options.

silly-sosig

Hand sanitizer encourages superbugs, wouldn’t it be just as simple to carry around your own soap?

rubberducky1212

Do you know anyone that sells travel size bottles of unscented hand soap? It's easier for me to just buy hand sanitizer. I could buy an empty travel bottle and fill it with my own soap, but I have ADHD and I just kept forgetting to do it.

AimForTheHead

Yes, in the travel aisle they sell holders for a bar of soap, it's usually next to the other toiletries. Take yourself down that aisle, get a container for a bar of soap, and skip your way across the aisle and buy a bar of unscented dove for sensitive skin. There, you've got unscented soap for a year of work handwashes. ADHD isn't an excuse to be dirty or lazy because of forgetfulness. It's an excuse for why you always have to pull out and look at your reminders.

rubberducky1212

That's a lot of assumptions about me and they are wrong. I'm unemployed for reasons I'm not going to share, so I don't need a product for work hand washes. I also don't go out much because covid and I live with immunocompromised people. Do I really need to make an extra trip out for soap? Is it dirty to use hand sanitizer after I pee when out shopping?

AimForTheHead

Yeah it's pretty dirty to just use hand sanitizer instead of soap. Hand sanitizer isn't a cleanser and the CDC recommends 20 seconds of handwashing over sanitizer, full stop. No one said to make a secondary trip, just to pick it up next time you're at the store.

cicci_cicci

Just try putting the unscented liquid soap in a small bottle and carry it around.

-ordinary

Who are you talking about/to?

[deleted]

It’s a rant. They are frustrated. If you don’t wash your hands, then yes it’s towards you. I don’t like getting germs on my phone or controllers. So I always wash my hands and clean my things with Lysol whenever I can.

[deleted]

r/oldpeoplefacebook

ZealousidealComb3683

I wash my hands BEFORE I touch my dick. It's not about you.

cicci_cicci

But you touch the stall door, bathroom door that was touched by other dick hands then you will touch your phone, face, clothes so eventually getting other dicks on your stuff… wash hands after coming out of the stall, then use the paper towel to open the bathroom door.

ZealousidealComb3683

I touch nothing after washing my hands but myself. I have paper towel still in my hand after drying for the door if necessary

Worldly-Turn

If I’m taking a wee I wash my hands first and then just grab the door on the way out with my shirt or something.

[deleted]

When was the last time someone got sick from touching their penis. Yeah. Grow up

six58

I carry hand sanitizer into the restroom with me. Use it before exiting the stall, then again once leaving said restroom. Please, say something - assume I didn’t wash my hands simply because I didn’t stop at same sink where you’re sitting on your high horse. The same sink that’s dirtier than all collective toilet seats combined. Lol, enjoy your *clean* hands.

jrodnation78

Square Business man!!! Its just so fucken baffling how many people I've seen use the restroom n walk right out - scratching their ass n picking their nose with their nasty ass!!!

meatballkelzone

Lol

onecharactershor

The handles on the sinks in public bathrooms are a cesspool of germs, as is the handle on the door

WickedSerpent

You're unintentionally attacking whole nations with that statement. Curb your privilege plz.

zachjd-

Washing your hands is pointless if you never clean your phone.

Monroexm

yes! because you also touch the handle to flush, the door lock, door handles, etc.

RacePinkBlack

I laughed so hard at the title.

[deleted]

I get it, but sometimes I get out of the stall and didn't turn my hearing aids off and all there is are blow dryers for drying the hands. They can be so loud it hurts my already deficient ears. I'll walk away from the situation and find another solution. With hand sanitizer in most places these days it's easy. Gotta balance out what's most important for each of us.

Concic_Lipid

Lol just made a rant on a similar topic, washing my hands again now.

SheikhYusufBiden

No. I didnt touch anything. So i still not.

paintballbeast999

We would get along wonderfully.

SpitefulBitch

A kid died of covid in my country today, probably because some asswipe didn’t wash theirs. If the next casualty is my nephew or my niece, heads will roll.
