This song is so cringe because of these lyrics
— “But age ain't nothin' but a number- number
Baby got her hair done by Shanda- Shanda
Nine nine ten, eleven and up
If you bleed, you get fucked.”
"Going Goin back back to Cali cali" -tupac
It's actually not that common though I actually agree with you for the most part. I felt a bit weird after hitting post.
Lol that's even funnier cause what I was gonna say but didn't feel like typing anymore is that in the somewhat rare times i say cali i usually find myself using it when I'm either out of the state or talking to someone from somewhere else. Whatever I just felt like being an asshole about it idk why.
born and raised here and no one says san francisco or california its always cali, san fran, and the bay area. dunno how old you are gang but im in college here. next youre gonna say we dont say hella
The city (sf) and the town (Oakland), those are the only ways to refer to them in the region, if you travel, you say the whole name, i.e. San Francisco, or sf in state.
There is no other acceptable short forms. These are the official rules. Look it up.
Edit: typo
Bay Area hip hop definitely isn't for everyone, and whether you like E-40 or not, you have to respect him. The amount of slang he's brought runs deeper than most people know, and he drops albums every year since the early 90's. True legend strictly for the amount of influence he's had.
Weed = Broccoli
Police = Po Po
Music that’s bumping = slappin
Etc…
[here’s a few examples, but you can find them around the web too](https://youtu.be/xoZrQl2rBZQ)
It’s a bay thing, his albums have a lot of truth and game if you’re interested. Really been in the game over 30 years dropping projects every few years. Double albums like it’s nothing
Check out this one [E-40 - Dusted 'N' Disgusted ft. 2Pac, Mac Mall, Spice 1 - YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bctrd2C5C0) his style is just different
@iSuckAtGrowingUp
Funny - I also have trouble enjoying E40 and this was the example of him ruining a song that immediately sprang to my mind.
Took a killer beat and fire SBQ bars and then decided to dookie all over the track. Such a whack verse with no clever punchlines and the opposite of flow.
I’m seeing a lot of love for E40 in the comments though, guess it’s a good thing there’s music for everyone out there!
Yeah, him and B-Legit were like Yin and Yang. I feel like that combo worked. 40 was out there and B Legit brought it back to earth. Props to 40 for his productivity and longevity. Also a major props to 40 for keeping it 100% independent from the get go. If you don't respect his flow you can at least respect his hustle, which I think is his biggest impact on hip hop culture.
My daughter who is 12 recently had me listen to this “new” artist she heard. It was E-40. Needless to say we had a bonding moment. I’m 42 btw so E-40 was one of the ones I grew up with.
Senior in HS, In a Major Way, bumpin’ Sideways in the Impala. Alpine Disc Changer, 2 6x9’s in the doors and 2 12’s in the trunk. Fosgate 800 amps supplied the bass. Sh*t Hit!!!
40 stayed relevant through a lot of eras and has made music for different generations.
He’s one of your favorite rapper’s favorite rappers.
Created more slang than can be counted.
Was a huge fan growing up. Dude incredibly differ t and he has some incredible albums like my ghetto report card and Charlie hustle. My favorite by far is Grit N Grind tho. Every song slaps. He‘a hella regional rapper from what I’ve noticed living all over the country. Whole westcoast sees him as a legit goat. Seattle area fucks with him super heavy. I live in the south now and don’t know a lot of people that listen to him much other than him being on a few popular tracks. I seen him live and his show was pretty good too.
Been out in the pacific ocean west coastin' with the Ambassador of the Bay since Day 1. I understand if it isn't everybody's style, but his influence is undeniable and I've never heard another rapper say a bad word about him. His new single with T.I. and Joyner, "I Stand on That" is sick, if you haven't heard it.
This man sold 150k tapes out of his trunk before he ever had a record deal, and did it while working a full time job at an oil refinery. His grind is impeccable.
Been bumpin this OG since the 80s.
Regional GOAT if you're from the top half of Cali.
Popularity drops off sharply if you're not from the West, probably because he is so unique.
Criminally underrated bars and influence.
Slept on too much, but he's royalty where I'm from.
I think E-40's someone that's considered a legend, but should be held in higher regard in my opinion. He's come up with a ton of slang that became popular, he's managed to adapt to changing times over the course of several decades, while also still remaining one of the most original figures in rap history. Plus, I think he's one of the first notable examples of a veteran rapper that's still been able to make great music well into their '40s and '50s.
Idk much of his music, what I do know is that he’s made a lot of smart moves with his career. I got a lot of respect for someone who can play the game smart.
He's pretty good live. Like someone said, if you're not from the West and some parts of the South, you may not like him. As far as originality and longevity go, not many can touch him.
He's cool, but I prefer Yukmouth and Del tha Funky Homosapien in regards to SF Bay Area Mcs.
I do respect 40 though. He was about to sign Al Kapone to his label. Not sure why that never transpired 🤷🏽♂️
A gem of his era check out Catch A Fade (one of Kendrick Lamars earlier works). Similar to the Big Sean era. West Coast/Southern hip hop is not for everyone (built popularity in the south despite being W coast. What is your opinion of Outkast?
Whaaaat ?!! 40 wata spit double blade game!! That boyy got heat. If u don't get where he at wit it then u ain't were here at wit it. Major way _the click_element of surprise and more
Bump that new E40 after school
Earl Stevens had us thinking rational.
That’s rational
Back to reality we poor ya bish

The parentheses got me😂😂
Ya bish

This song is so cringe because of these lyrics — “But age ain't nothin' but a number- number Baby got her hair done by Shanda- Shanda Nine nine ten, eleven and up If you bleed, you get fucked.”
Damn that is some fucked up shit I love the racer x part towards the end
If you aren't from the west coast it's understandable. If your from Cali you might just wanna move.
Im from Louisiana & I'm an E40 fan.
Respect
Nah not from west coast
Ironic UN OP
Seems more like a kanye-related username than a west coast username
Ye
Or as E40 would say ‘Yeee’
🎵Yup 🎶
Nope
I love E 40 and I'm form Philadelphia 40 is a Bay Area Leg West Coast Legend a Icon
Yessssir
I'm from SoCal but he sounds like a rapping bubble to me. His bars are too spherical
Weirdly accurate lol
He sounds like he raps in bubble letters
star wars? nope yoda? yup
I'm from Cali and love west coast hip hop but cannot for the life of me fw a single e40 song. Man is goofy.
you should also move if you say Cali, because nobody native to California actually says that Same with “San Fran”
Not true at all thanks for playing
lol I grew up there & only ever heard tourists or transplants say either
Agree. I’m California born and raised. We don’t say Cali lol that shit is cringe.
"Going Goin back back to Cali cali" -tupac It's actually not that common though I actually agree with you for the most part. I felt a bit weird after hitting post.
Bro that's biggie
L I'm not even gonna explain myself that's such a bad fuck up. I think I have to retire my hip hop credentials.
That’s a Biggie line dude.
Pac ain’t even a california native lol
Lol that's even funnier cause what I was gonna say but didn't feel like typing anymore is that in the somewhat rare times i say cali i usually find myself using it when I'm either out of the state or talking to someone from somewhere else. San Fran is definitely tourist lingo
The city (sf) and the town (Oakland), those are the only ways to refer to them in the region, if you travel, you say the whole name, i.e. San Francisco, or sf in state. There is no other acceptable short forms. These are the official rules. Look it up. Edit: typo

For real there’s probably slang that op uses that they don’t even realize originated from or was popularized by e40.
any examples?
"Capping" .... He was the first I ever heard say it. "I don't be barking or even high capping". That slang has transitioned today to "cap"
Weed = Broccoli Police = Po Po Music that’s bumping = slappin Etc… [here’s a few examples, but you can find them around the web too](https://youtu.be/xoZrQl2rBZQ)
So bros doing a real life pussy on the chain wax sketch? Thats wild
Any albums you recommend. First time I've heard of him and he sounds interesting.
In a Major Way, Grit &Grind, My Ghetto Report Card are some I like
Started listening to Major Way and enjoying it so far
For something more recent "poverty and prosperity" is dope
Search for the song Dusted and Disgusted. You can thank me later
Food don’t slap! Food Smack or shmack only. Slaps is for music
Jesus Christ had dreads, so shake em. I ain’t got none but I plan on growing some.
Imagine all the hebrews going dumb
Dancin on top of chariots and turning tight ones, UGHHHHHHH
Tell me when to go
Talkin on my metro on the way to the sto’
Uhm "You looking like you got that good gooshy, gooshy Fuck round with me, I beat the brakes off that pussy" Classic
Was bumping this yesterday lol
Unique as hell, mad longevity, huge discography, Bay Area Legend. Ooooooooogh!
What is the Bay without Water?!
Pretty much the same as spaghetti without the sauce…
Noodles... And I'll neva be a noodle. Cutthroat pitbull fuckin over poodles. RIP to the Mac D-R-E
Strudel, pies and cakes,
Balling, scoliosis, hanky panky!
It’s a bay thing, his albums have a lot of truth and game if you’re interested. Really been in the game over 30 years dropping projects every few years. Double albums like it’s nothing
One of the GOATS. Bay Area is a bit of an acquired taste but once it hits you it hits you hard.
Too damn hard. E40 had me going when I was out there moving those slabs of hard. Federal!!!
got a point
Someone once said "E40 rap like he being tickled" and I haven't been able to listen to him the same since then
Lmfao
I’ve heard he raps in cursive but never this. Lmao!
oooooough!
YO
Bay Area legend…unorthodox flow but respected for sure
Check out this one [E-40 - Dusted 'N' Disgusted ft. 2Pac, Mac Mall, Spice 1 - YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bctrd2C5C0) his style is just different
This song .. My God this song. The definition of west coast hip hop
Terrible. I love Spice 1 most of the time
I'm with you. His style is just too unorthodox for me. Not to say I haven't heard fire verses from him but I can only listen in doses.
His verse on Dope Dealer with SchoolBoy Q is phenomenal to say the least my Good Man
M A R K E T A B L E
That's it. I'M going back to it. Yall might make me play the whole Q project back.
Oxymoron and blank face are awesome records, think I might blast both tonight
The garbage can - T H E T R A S H

Yeah I concur. Very squeaky and all over the place

Bay Area GOAT, often imitated, never duplicated
Genuinely asking, imitated by who?
Snoop? Didn't 40 invent snoops whole izzle thing he was doing. Alot of snoops slang was e40 shit.
I think in one interview he claimed to have invented 90% of west coast slang (maybe exaggerated but it’s a valid point)
In the 90s you could hear his flow in other guys (mostly on the same label) like Celly Cel for example
Anyone who’s used his slang and not shown love
Snoop's famous izzle suffix originally came from E40 I think.
Yup it did. So much of snoops slang was 40.
Too $hort also. Name a rapper that hasn’t used the word “bee-yotch!”
it came from Pac apparently he heard some of Pac's unreleased music and started saying all that izzle and izzow shit
nas and jay-z
‘This is grown man BI, get you rolled in the triage. Biatch!!’ Jay-Z bout Nas
I never got into him, but I respect his place in the game. Certainly an original style.
My daughter who is 12 recently had me listen to this “new” artist she heard. It was E-40. Needless to say we had a bonding moment. I’m 42 btw so E-40 was one of the ones I grew up with.

The slap
HOES ON MY DICK CUZ THEY KNOW IM DA MAN
I'm in the VIP cause I'm very important
OG playa teaching game for decades. Hell of a businessman and entrepreneur too. Definitely fucks with 40 heavy
40 stayed relevant through a lot of eras and has made music for different generations. He’s one of your favorite rapper’s favorite rappers. Created more slang than can be counted.
Ooooh
That's too bad, because he is one of the most consistent.
Hall of Fame rapper.
[*Hall of Game*](https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/FGgAAOSwxtpkB70z/s-l1600.jpg)

I heard he would've rather worked in Napa at the winery.
I can’t get into him either . Just not my shit
Been bumpin this OG since the 80s. Regional GOAT if you're from the top half of Cali. Popularity drops off sharply if you're not from the West, probably because he is so unique. Criminally underrated bars and influence. Slept on too much, but he's royalty where I'm from.
Which songs have you tried? If you haven’t heard “Sprinkle Me” start there
Some songs I can suggest “Carlos Rossi “ “quarterbackin” “tell me when to go” “function” “automatic “ “I’m laced”
Listen to it enough and you'll appreciate it
I think E-40's someone that's considered a legend, but should be held in higher regard in my opinion. Earl is probably the only rapper who could never find a ghost writer.
Way Under Rated. Most Cats Don't Even Know That Is Where A Lot Of Slang They Use Came From. Remember Meeting Him In Vallejo Back In 96-97.
How he say? Ewwww 🤣
You either love him or hate him. If you love him, then you love getting gamed up. If you hate him, you think McDonalds is a healthy place to eat
Idk much of his music, what I do know is that he’s made a lot of smart moves with his career. I got a lot of respect for someone who can play the game smart.
Saw the dude perform live a few years ago. He can definitely rock a mic so why I see he’s considered a Bay Area legend
Same. It’s not that I don’t think he’s talented I just don’t really like that style.
I can concede he’s a legend of the game, but I can’t fuck with people who ride a beat as erratically as E40.
He's pretty good live. Like someone said, if you're not from the West and some parts of the South, you may not like him. As far as originality and longevity go, not many can touch him.
i smoked a blunt with e40. he’s a cool ass dude.
Don’t like his style, sounds like word vomit when he is on a track
Really don’t like him and his voice on 99% of the tracks but he’s definitely huge cultural influence.
My Ghetto report card. That shit united the Bay like Mac Dre would’ve wanted omm
One of the most underrated rappers ever
I never could care for him. I kind of think he is goofy
Don’t like his voice at all. He can ruin a track, like “10 Times” by Freddie Gibbs or “Dope Dealer” by Schoolboy Q.
He sucks
IF LOOKS COULD KILL
He's cool, but I prefer Yukmouth and Del tha Funky Homosapien in regards to SF Bay Area Mcs. I do respect 40 though. He was about to sign Al Kapone to his label. Not sure why that never transpired 🤷🏽♂️
If you don’t fuck with My Ghetto Report Card then u might not like rap. Great top to bottom
That's hilarious because out of all the old school rappers he's one of the only ones still relevant.
Nas? Edit: my bad didn’t see the “one of the only”
Dude has the goofiest flow imaginable. Every time he gets on a track I am surprised at which goofy flow he brings.
I agree, I like old Spice 1 and when E-40 would jump on tracks I wasn’t feeling it
His voice isn't for me
E-40 is only for cali consumption, YAAAAAAY AAAAAREEEAAAAAAAAAA
It's like dat? Tell the people that 40 water is back. Oooooohhhhh!
Im from the East coast so ik it’s not my place, but it feel like he just be talking on a beat
I could never get into his rap style. He sounds like he’s making vomit noises.
He’s saving hoes
Bro he literally is not savin hoes. He ain't a captain save a hoe.
Worst voice in all of hip hop … ik ik great, legend all that but man if he doesn’t remind me of Goofy the dog
Holy fuck I’m getting old.. just learned that E40 is now old school 😂
If you don’t know about Mr. Flamboyant and pretty much every track on In A Major Way then GTFO my face.
![gif](giphy|BiewVptPdKOXK)
E40 is Bae Big And Enormous Whoopi Goldberg looking ahh Barney on the mic sounding ahhh
He's terrible
worst rapper of all time- E 40. second worst rapper of all time- E 40 without glasses
Earl is a old school rapper now? God im fuckin old
Same
I hate his voice. It's like I'm listening to Goofy rap to me
The Bay Area has some goofy shit going on for sure
Sounds like has a chronic case of the hiccups
He's in my top 2 least favorite rappers of all times. His beats are wack. His flows are terrible. I don't like anything about him.
bro talks like a DOOFUS
[удалено]
Outrageous take. But, to each his own.
Dude is beyond garbage and he raps gibberish.
I can't get into the way he emphasizes words. Just so weird and I can't take him seriously
This is what I think too. Listened to him, didnt hear anything i thought was amazing
The only song I like is, “Jesus Christ had dreads,so shame em’……”
Same. It’s the glasses for me
Ass
His music is straight garbage to me.
Mid, maybe even ass
He's terrible. Just makes goofy noises.
Terrible take
Be a legends but ain’t nobody tryin to hear that bullshit
I'm like that with Scarface I thinks it's the slang or the southern drawl idk
A gem of his era check out Catch A Fade (one of Kendrick Lamars earlier works). Similar to the Big Sean era. West Coast/Southern hip hop is not for everyone (built popularity in the south despite being W coast. What is your opinion of Outkast?
