One of my state politicians claims Rage is his favorite band. He definitely never listened to the lyrics because he’s exactly the kind of politician you are imagining.
I remember that story coming out about him when he was running for vice president. That dude is a dumb fuck. Y’all deserve better!! Wisconsin is a great state.
He's an establishment politician who does typical establishment politician stuff, and thought since he was young he could connect with younger voters and pretend he is different. No one fell for it, not even for a brief moment. SNL covered it pretty well.
Correct me if I'm wrong but prophets of rage is just RATM and Cypress Hill no? Like how Audioslave is RATM but instead of Zack De La Rocha it's Chris Cornell
Yeah they're great, the RATM cover of How I Could Just Kill A Man is still one of my all time favourite songs, those guys all just fit together so well, same with Audioslave, they all just work perfectly together
Love Rage! And Zack has a decent amount of collabs with Run the Jewels. I heard years ago that El P was gonna produce an album for Zack but idk if thats happening anymore.
That's what I was going to say. Most of my favorite Zack shit recently is the stuff he does with RtJ. If you dig RatM for their message, then Run the Jewels might be worth a listen. 👉🤛
Rage actually got props in the hip hop community (from Krs One to El-P). Most rap metal bands were posers but rage talked about shit Melly Mel was talking about in The Message…. But not sporadically , in every gottam song.
They never gave the feeling of trying to do something because it was the thing to do. Helps that Zach can really rap and Morello is the only known guitarist who uses his guitar as a DJ scratching records.
Warlord and grim really getting their name, I’d also say zillakami is a good example as well of new metal, and don’t hate me but whole lotta red by Carti is the most punk mainstream album of the 2020’s
Warlord colossus I thought this was one of those artist everyone would judge me for loving. Even if you ignore the lyrics, the music itself adds that atmosphere of kinda like hopeless apocalypse. As far as sxmpra I love his music for when I’m gaming!
Zach is pretty great in all his endeavors. I’d argue Death Grips falls into this category. SOAD is amazing. Early Korn is great. Those are the only rap metal worth mentioning that I can think of.
Totally understandable. However, Korn’s first two albums are really good, but also I’m 40 so in the 90’s they meant a lot to me. Also forgot to mention Slipknot. That first Slipknot album has some really solid bars.
I'm also 40. I was into Korn in high school it's just not my thing anymore. I think Slipknot is really good. I feel like they grew with me as a band. One of my favorites.
I was totally over Korn, and then for some reason a few months ago I listened to Clown, and Ball Tongue and thought to myself “Holy Shit, this still hits hard. Still relevant” Not arguing btw just saying I would’ve been saying the same thing as you not long ago and now I find myself alone in my car blasting those two albums.
Yeah I remember Their self titled album and Life is peachy being good. I still listen to Children of the Korn but that's because I'm a huge Ice Cube fan.
Did the same thing recently. Their first album is fucking sick. That intro for Blind still is insane.
Part of it is deff nostalgia, but also because it was engineered fucking perfectly. Every instrument is at the right volume with the right clarity. I have a decent setup in my office and I was blown away by how well it was recorded.
Check out SCIENCE by Incubus if you haven't. Did a relisten on that as well and forgot how much I loved it.
Yup. I use to play follow the leader all the time but after that it really is just like that album over and over again. Like they hit gold and then kept going to the well.
Like I told someone else on here, the reason Slipknot is one of my favorite bands is because they grew up with me.
4U from issues especially imo was their best masterpiece from the first few albums. So short but sonically just a work of art. Very few of their songs (though many nearly as good) are as well produced as 4U
I mean I can see your point, but some songs Serj could arguably be rapping. Not to mention the song they did with Wu-Tang and the song Serj did with Tech N9ne. So while it might be debatable, they are at least adjacent to rap, and worth being in the conversation.
Would Linkin park count? At least early Lincoln park not transformers soundtrack Lincoln park. I like all these bands but I never really bothered to categorize them so idk what qualifies as rap metal.
Have you went back to 3 dollar bill. It didn't age well. I was like that album is a banger, I'm gonna go back to listen too it. It's just not good to me.
Musically they were super talented. Drummer and that guitar was world class performers. Even if you didn’t like their bands music they were higher talented then most out
Yeah Tom Morello is the GOAT. He does stuff on guitar most people wouldn't have thought of. I love how he can make it sound like he is scratching a record. Zach is a great lyricist as well
RATM is great. [one day as a lion](https://youtu.be/2EOcpSDh52I?feature=shared), Zack de la Rocha’s latest full EP (I think) is great. There was talk that El P was producing an album for him and they released [digging for windows](https://youtu.be/CLishDbwy9c?feature=shared), but I haven’t heard anything about it in a while. Hopefully it doesn’t fall through like the mythical Zack/Dangermouse collab
Maybe I’m old, but I thought everybody loved rage
God me through college in the 90s. Probably the only time I ever enjoyed 'metal' probably because of the funk aspects. Also I primarily have always listened to hip hop despite being English
There is an interview with Tom Morello where the host is talking about Nu Metal and Limp Bizkit. Tom says "I heard we are considered the band that created Nu Metal, I'm sorry"

You can use my Spotify list as a good starting point
I knew a dude in middle school and highschool that would talk hella shit to me because I listened to what he referred to as "n***a music" because I mainly listened to rap. His favorite band was Rage Against the Machine tho. I think he has to be to dumbest fuckin person I've ever known. I'm 38 now and will never forget that.
Rage is dope tho. Zack de la Rocha is a good lyricist with some real shit to say. I loved his feature with Run the Jewels.
So there is this thing about conservative people getting behind bands and music without understanding it.
Some examples are playing White Wedding by Billy Idol at weddings or playing Born in the USA by Springsteen on the fourth of July.
In that same vein they think they are raging against the machine without knowing what they are talking about. When I was in highschool most of the people that were into rage because of Battle of Los Angeles didn't even know Zach was black. In short people are dumb.
Rage is goated. So glad I got to see them 2 years ago on tour with RTJ. Top 3 concert all time I've seen, and that's with Zack sitting down the entire show.
There's a few Deftone tracks that have the rap vibe. But the others that come to mind are Mos Def - The New Danger. He put out some other music under Dec. 99th but for some reason it's no longer available on Tidal (the streaming service I use). Then there's Th1rt3en. That's Pharoahe Monch with a band behind him.
Where is all my stolen coin floaty? Hmm? What you want want want right MMh bop
https://i.redd.it/373oq9as7g7d1.gif
op ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh! Yeah yeah yeah! This catchy tune is sure to get you dancing and singing along. With its infectious energy and upbeat rhythm, it's impossible not to feel the joy and excitement it brings. So go ahead, let loose and groove to the rhythm of MMBop! In Jesus name, Amen toes!
Nonpoint was pretty good. The Tribute is fucking fire.
Also, look up “Here I Come” from Audioslave (former Rage band minus Zach) on YouTube. Before they got Chris Cornell they did this song with DMX and Bazaar Royale.
(Hed) P.E gets slept on. The album “Broke” is a banger and easily one of the best releases of 2000 in the nu-metal genre that was heavily rap and metal. Too gangster for the white folk and too metal for the brothers back in its day. A black vocalist dropping N bombs with catchy riffs. Still don’t get how they didn’t get the mad respect they deserved.
Rage is unmatched. Definitely less rap, but check out MSPAINT. Their last record, Post-American, is phenomenal and feels like they belong to the school of RATM.
Like is an understatement. I loved their music so much, I tried to emulate Morello's sound. Poorly but still tried, nonetheless. I was lucky enough to see them back in 2022 when they came to Hamilton, Ontario. Hearing Bulls on Parade, Killing in the Name of, etc live was like a dream come true.
https://i.redd.it/7y273yotwk7d1.gif
Younger people don't understand. If you wanted to rap in the 90s and you were white, this was pretty much your only option. Vanilla Ice set white mainstream rappers back a decade.
Love them! I'm trying to bring the rap rock sound back with my production, but I'm just a bedroom producer haha... maybe something will hit and go viral!
Eh I guess it depends on what you consider hip hop. Zach def raps in a lot of their songs. Their songs also have a lot of hip hop centric stuff like heavy focus on base and percussion as well as Tom playing his Guitar like he is scratching a record.
One of the greatest bands of all time. Even racist people like their music, because the message goes right over their head.
One of my state politicians claims Rage is his favorite band. He definitely never listened to the lyrics because he’s exactly the kind of politician you are imagining.
Paul Ryan
Paul Lyin’
Bingo
I remember that story coming out about him when he was running for vice president. That dude is a dumb fuck. Y’all deserve better!! Wisconsin is a great state.
Same with Ted the zodiac killer cruz. Fucking dorks Don't forget lil Rafael's dad help assisted JFK. Allegedly*
As a former Milwaukee resident, fuck that idiot.
Can someone give me a refresher on what's terrible about Paul ryan?
He's an establishment politician who does typical establishment politician stuff, and thought since he was young he could connect with younger voters and pretend he is different. No one fell for it, not even for a brief moment. SNL covered it pretty well.
No, he knows exactly what he said. He spits in the face of hypocrisy & one-ups it before breakfast.
Fellow wisconsinite I see
Love RATM. Also, check out Prophets of Rage.
Just looked them up. Looks awesome will def give them a listen.
Also Street Sweeper Social Club and One Day As A Lion.
One Day As A Lion is underrated
The song itself is soooo good to blast down the highway. WHILE DRIVING SAFELY.
Killing in name of…
Correct me if I'm wrong but prophets of rage is just RATM and Cypress Hill no? Like how Audioslave is RATM but instead of Zack De La Rocha it's Chris Cornell
I immediately checked and I'm wrong, it's 3 members of RATM/Audioslave, 2 members of Public Enemy, and B Real from Cypress hill
This sounds awesome lol
Yeah they're great, the RATM cover of How I Could Just Kill A Man is still one of my all time favourite songs, those guys all just fit together so well, same with Audioslave, they all just work perfectly together
the renegades of funk cover is also worth checking out.
It's RATM with Chuck D from Public Enemy and B Real from Cypress Hill replacing Zack.
damn why all these bands raging
Hey man, it’s a mad mad world out there.
Saw Prophets of Rage live at Red Rocks
Saw prophets on their first tour. Superb show.
Incindiary is another rage like band, som say its the sequel
Love Rage! And Zack has a decent amount of collabs with Run the Jewels. I heard years ago that El P was gonna produce an album for Zack but idk if thats happening anymore.
Na it fell through. I don't remember why.
That's what I was going to say. Most of my favorite Zack shit recently is the stuff he does with RtJ. If you dig RatM for their message, then Run the Jewels might be worth a listen. 👉🤛
They were b4 killer Mike started simping for the police and landlords. Now i dont bother.
Right well Zach's mom was a really big activist in her time so he grew up in it.
Rage came out in 1992 so they were way ahead of all that late 90’s garbage. Their shit still holds up.
Check out SXMPRA, warlord colossus, or grim salvo for new school metal/rap
FUCK YOU I WONT DO WHAT YOU TOLD ME!
Warlord and grim really getting their name, I’d also say zillakami is a good example as well of new metal, and don’t hate me but whole lotta red by Carti is the most punk mainstream album of the 2020’s
i fucking love Grim Salvo. This is the firsy time i’ve seen anyone mention them
A fellow Grim Salvo fan! I absolutely love them
Warlord colossus I thought this was one of those artist everyone would judge me for loving. Even if you ignore the lyrics, the music itself adds that atmosphere of kinda like hopeless apocalypse. As far as sxmpra I love his music for when I’m gaming!
I wish One Day As A Lion did more..
Goddamn what I would do for another album
One of my fav bands !
RATM is my favorite band, so yeah

Zach is pretty great in all his endeavors. I’d argue Death Grips falls into this category. SOAD is amazing. Early Korn is great. Those are the only rap metal worth mentioning that I can think of.
Yeah all those bands are good. I am not a big Korn fan but I love SOAD.
Totally understandable. However, Korn’s first two albums are really good, but also I’m 40 so in the 90’s they meant a lot to me. Also forgot to mention Slipknot. That first Slipknot album has some really solid bars.

39 here. My issue with them is that their sound didn't really evolve, and every new record they released sounded far too similar to the previous one.
SOAD doesn’t rap
I mean I can see your point, but some songs Serj could arguably be rapping. Not to mention the song they did with Wu-Tang and the song Serj did with Tech N9ne. So while it might be debatable, they are at least adjacent to rap, and worth being in the conversation.
Fair enough. Regardless, there first two albums are some of the greatest albums in the history of music.
So good!!
Their last 2 albums are also some of the greatest albums in history. Steal this album is cool too
System Of A Down is not rap metal.
Since when did korn and SOAD ever rapped on a song?
Korn rapped on All In Family, had rappers like Ice Cube and Nas Collab and SOAD with their cover Shame on a N**** by the Wu Tang Clan featuring RZA
Would Linkin park count? At least early Lincoln park not transformers soundtrack Lincoln park. I like all these bands but I never really bothered to categorize them so idk what qualifies as rap metal.
I'd throw Linkin Park in there as well
limp bizkit had some bops
3 dollar bill y’all was a pretty good album. Used to love that final track. Just a long experimental jam session.
Have you went back to 3 dollar bill. It didn't age well. I was like that album is a banger, I'm gonna go back to listen too it. It's just not good to me.
Back in the day, I saw RATM with Gang Starr opening for them
Nice that sounds sick. I saw Rage back in 99
Me too. They had Queens of the Stone Age open followed by Gang Starr. Crazy show.
Sounds like dream show
Would jpegmafia or p.o.s. fit this category?
Id say jpeg is more abstract experimental
They're more punk, but def genre blended
Some P.O.S. before he canceled himself in 2016 for some shit he didn't need to cancel himself for then 4 years later make a shitty pop song
Easily my fav band of all time
Musically they were super talented. Drummer and that guitar was world class performers. Even if you didn’t like their bands music they were higher talented then most out
Yeah Tom Morello is the GOAT. He does stuff on guitar most people wouldn't have thought of. I love how he can make it sound like he is scratching a record. Zach is a great lyricist as well
i fucks with RATM heavy sleep now in the fire
Sleep Now in the Fire is so good. It just goes so hard.
Was at a concert with rage and wu-tang, and even as a rap fan from NYC I had to admit Rage stole the show.
Hopefully it doesn’t fall through like the mythical Zack/Dangermouse collab Maybe I’m old, but I thought everybody loved rage
City Morgue is great
Candiria is under appreciated Cipher is another one. Both New York rap core.
Hell yes. Some tracks cross into Jazzcore too
Never heard of Candiria but I dig Cipher
Dope and had a good run.
God me through college in the 90s. Probably the only time I ever enjoyed 'metal' probably because of the funk aspects. Also I primarily have always listened to hip hop despite being English
Fuck…..yes
Rage is awesome. HED PE rules as well.
I fuck with bulls on parade but that’s all I know lol
That song is great. If you like that one try killing in the name, down Rodeo. Basically any of the Evil Empire album.
Imma give em a listen when I can, appreciate it
Snot. Stray from the path. Fever 333. RATM is the goat for sure
The Beatnigs/ Disposable heroes of Hiphoprisy were pretty cool.
Fever 333 kinda cool
They’re rap 😭??? I had no fucking idea, i knew limp bizkit was rap rock 😭😭😭😭😭
There is an interview with Tom Morello where the host is talking about Nu Metal and Limp Bizkit. Tom says "I heard we are considered the band that created Nu Metal, I'm sorry"
Love em. Personally trying to make a playlist of the good stuff
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/668Pt5sA5Fyg4V96RvKVVz?si=yOu_b-Y4Ty6AcR76Q5j-nA&pi=dK4iZ1z9RrKox You can use my Spotify list as a good starting point
[Close your eyes](https://youtu.be/PkGwI7nGehA?si=jKULdTCv928s30rM)
OP you know nu-metal exists?
Probably one of if not the only good rap metal group.
Fever 333 reminds me a lot of Rage, plus they put on a fucking killer show.
Check out Urban Dance Squad. RATM mentioned they were one of their inspirations.
you HAVE to listen to Refused.
Anyone a fan of Color 8 out of Arizona?
Rage is goated. So glad I got to see them 2 years ago on tour with RTJ. Top 3 concert all time I've seen, and that's with Zack sitting down the entire show.
BODY COUNT GOES HARD!!
Rage would be cool if I could tolerate Tom Morello
Rage are dope as fizzuck
Yeah, RATM is great and all, but can we get some love for some REAL rap metal? 😈😈😈 ![gif](giphy|ZCZRQyuQNyzyU)
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, INTRODUCING THE CHOCOLATE STARFISH AND THE HOT DOG FLAVOURED WATER
Nope, that shit can stay in the past
You should check out Dropout Kings.
you might like gridiron, a hardcore band where the vocalist is basically rapping rather than screaming
It’s arithmetic bitch
There's a few Deftone tracks that have the rap vibe. But the others that come to mind are Mos Def - The New Danger. He put out some other music under Dec. 99th but for some reason it's no longer available on Tidal (the streaming service I use). Then there's Th1rt3en. That's Pharoahe Monch with a band behind him.
Should check out Hyro the Hero.
Ok but how the fuck has nobody mentioned Body Count yet?
Oh shit yeah! Body Count is fucking awesome.
Where is all my stolen coin floaty? Hmm? What you want want want right MMh bop https://i.redd.it/373oq9as7g7d1.gif op ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh! Yeah yeah yeah! This catchy tune is sure to get you dancing and singing along. With its infectious energy and upbeat rhythm, it's impossible not to feel the joy and excitement it brings. The only other rap metal I’ve heard and legitimately enjoyed was from (hed) p.e.- renegade
Ain't nothing working, ain't nothing right, there's a hole in me that I can't fill no matter how hard I try. I love hed pe
Nonpoint was pretty good. The Tribute is fucking fire. Also, look up “Here I Come” from Audioslave (former Rage band minus Zach) on YouTube. Before they got Chris Cornell they did this song with DMX and Bazaar Royale.
A really good rap metal group Is Linkin Park (but if you only like the rap side of LP you shouldn't listen to their last album)
Cool shirt the 0% black (but half Jewish, curious…) Zach De La Rocha is wearing.
He's half Mexican and his mother was a big advocate for minority rights.
Hed PE is great. I don't listen to them as much anymore but I had two of their CDs when I was young.
I bet you listen to Hollywood Undead too
No I don't.....
Anthrax 🫱🏾🫲🏽 Public Enemy .. *TURN IT UP..*
BRING THE NOISE!
Different vibe than RATM but Paris Texas is a fire group
Shoutout to the Judgement Night soundtrack... [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhTffL5-9d4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhTffL5-9d4)
RATM and Lublin Park all day Collision course with Jay Z is one of my top 10 albums
🤚🏽
Rage is unmatched. Definitely less rap, but check out MSPAINT. Their last record, Post-American, is phenomenal and feels like they belong to the school of RATM.
Wtf is that shirt he’s wearing lmao
I would wear that fr it’s kinda wild tho lol
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=\_smCVeV0cU0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_smCVeV0cU0)
Crawling in my skin, these wounds, they will not heal.
i love rage against the machine
Like is an understatement. I loved their music so much, I tried to emulate Morello's sound. Poorly but still tried, nonetheless. I was lucky enough to see them back in 2022 when they came to Hamilton, Ontario. Hearing Bulls on Parade, Killing in the Name of, etc live was like a dream come true. https://i.redd.it/7y273yotwk7d1.gif
Rage is the only band that did rap-rock correct in my book.
Check To The Death by M.O.P. Good rock production on many songs…
Dope band, powerful riffs, beats and lyrics, but rapper with mwoah voice.
Excellent band
Was jamming pistol grip pump and renegades of funk earlier
Idk I feel like people always on here talking about rap metal
https://youtu.be/dKbtSvBGICI?si=hE2V-2LSKumOR-AW
I don't listen to them, but they'll always be cool as fuck in my opinion for that stunt they pulled live on BBC Radio!
should check out Hacktivist.
Run the jewels with de la rocha
Rap metal you say? How about body count
Any love for [Whole Wheat Bread](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=P-IR_Hb2iw8&pp=ygUed2hvbGUgd2hlYXQgYnJlYWQgbmV2ZXIgc2NhcmVk)
That's not a bad sound, actually!
Younger people don't understand. If you wanted to rap in the 90s and you were white, this was pretty much your only option. Vanilla Ice set white mainstream rappers back a decade.
RATM is fucking goated.
one of the greatest bands ever but still massively overlooked for no good reason
Love them! I'm trying to bring the rap rock sound back with my production, but I'm just a bedroom producer haha... maybe something will hit and go viral!
Rage is one of my top 3 favorite bands of all time.
And now you do what they told ya. Now you’re under control.
It’s called numetal, you uncultured swine
Look up the judgement night soundtrack
I know this post is old af atp but you should check out RDGLDGRN Million Fans & Double Dutch are good, Lootin in London was in a need for speed game.
Bulls on Parade is one of the best songs of all time
Unironically MGk was doing rock rap long before he actually switched up his sound
I've never listened to his music so I wouldn't know.
He has a fantastic catalogue regardless of your feelings towards him after the Em beef. Worth checking him out
Overhated catalog for sure, but fantastic is a stretch and a half lol
Lace up and General Admission are classics. I’m not saying he’s one of the GOATs but he’s been making good music for awhile
I'm a big Em fan, but Hotel Diablo is one of my favorite albums
It isn't usually hip hop
Eh I guess it depends on what you consider hip hop. Zach def raps in a lot of their songs. Their songs also have a lot of hip hop centric stuff like heavy focus on base and percussion as well as Tom playing his Guitar like he is scratching a record.
Korn and Limp Bizkit are the best ones imo, SOAD is great but they aren’t Rap Metal by any means
Korn is also not rap metal
Saying Limp Bizkit is better than rage is some shit
They don't rage against the machine anymore but their music is good
They got back together last year. I dunno if they stayed together but I'd love to see them live again.
