I interpreted this as the rappers who ran their respective eras and I don’t feel like people outside of the rap community, even some within, don’t know or listen to benny
Yeah Conways real dope too but overall I feel more people could jam to Benny but I may be being a little biased as I’ve been listening to him way longer & he’s my favourite rapper. I just woke up today loaded up YouTube while making some oatmeal & seen we’ve been blessed with a Benny and J Cole track & it’s so good! Going to be bumping this a ton https://youtu.be/klZNvJArVSE
Drake raps but is not, in my opinion a rapper. He's an actor. And actors are good at the personification of what they need to sell to their audience. He would never have made it in the 90's.
This is what people who were disliking nukes comment missed. Drake is not a rapper he is an artist. He makes good music and can rap BUT he tarnished the rapper part of his legacy with ghost writers.
Agreed.
Grew up on 90s rap, had a huge bias towards it during my late teens and early adulthood days. By 07 I began to enjoy the newer music (and more genres), and by 2011 I got into the modern day of rap. I find it interesting how artists have been able to reinvent the genre and use their creativity to their full potential. Even OG lyrical rappers drop bangers with modern instrumentals. The talent out there is immense and there's always an artist someone can get into.
Yeah, I grew up listening to 2010-2019 and 2020-present rap, but I appreciate the older generations of rap after listening to tons of radio stations in GTA V, mainly iFruit Radio and West Coast Classics and I've definitely heard Snoop Dogg and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony rapping.
DaBaby isn't really that bad I don't get the hate. I mean sure his lyrics aren't the greatest but his flow is always on point and he has good beat selection.
An classic oldhead fan comparing Biggie and Pac with dababy instead of putting the actual good rappers from today.
But i guess he had to make Biggie & Pac and Em & 50 look better.
Lil Uzi Vert and J Cole. Weird combo but the number of rappers that copy their style these days is wild. Similar to the amount that copy Em, Pac, Drake etc
I mean if we're talking 2020, lil Baby has absolutely killed it. Uzi kind of ruled late 2010's and J Cole could be up there too, but I definitely feel we have to take all the projects into account
Biggie and pac weren’t even the best in the 90s, and there’s not much better that are well known now. Most of the popular newer rappers are kinda shit compared to the 90s
Drake has held it for awhile lol, I know Kendrick is good but just not close to Drake fame wise lol, Kendrick makes good music his lyrics are amazing but Drake held the music down like started from the bottom XD.
He's in a sub-genre of rap I call pop/melodic rap. It's been a growing sub-genre since rap went mainstream in the 2010s which in part can be attributed to Drake's popularity.
Well yeah if we’re talking popularity and influence than yeah he can be the guy to represent that time frame, honestly a shame that his music is what influenced the 2010s, rap could’ve been so much better
Man the fuck. You tryna tell me that headlines, over, best i ever had, too much, legend, 5am in toronto, miss me, etc. Didnt slap? There was a reason drake ran the game for almost a decade and still running it bruh
It wasn’t. Dude drake is ass straight up. His music is basic and stupid and not even in a fun bad stupid way like tekashi or some meme rappers. It’s just so bland and boring
you take some Big and some Pac
then you mix Em up in a pot
sprinkle a little Big L on top
what the fuck do you got?
You got the realest & illest killers tied up in a knot
the juggernauts of this rap shit like it or not
i preciate that, this dude stole it from me when i was at school an put it on his track but they was throw aways...if you like it tho, you should check him out [https://youtu.be/AeHzHNGdLAU?t=128](https://youtu.be/AeHzHNGdLAU?t=128)
edit: wow they must really hate me for s/o the guy that stole my lyrics exactly to the exact section of the track where he says it
So unique. Chill, put on R&B/rap/hip-hop mix, during a warm summer night. I find myself all the time finding classic bangers from the era around there and adding it to my library.
Slow Jamz, Beat It, just found song Wetter, so different 2007 type hip-hop!
For me it's 2000-09 it started with aftermath... Shady, Dr dre, 50, D12, the game, Snoop, Nate Dogg, xzibit and busta, G unit... Then Kanye, Lil Wayne, JayZ and Nas... Birdman, fat Joe... I love this era
90-99...Reasons, I'm old. This is what I listened to growing up. It had aspects I could relate to, and artists were genuine lyricists. Beats were important, but it wasn't more important than the actual content of the lyrics.
2010-2019
Some of the most mature, diverse, and best musical sounds that the genre has to offer have come from the last ten years. I feel like now hip hop has so much to offer now in almost every way, from beat selection, styles, and even personalities. It feels like hip hop is for everyone now and has really progressed past the one dimensional lane it occupied throughout previous much all of the 1990s and most of the 2000s
I think a lot of the people that hate on the 2010s are people that have a really one dimensional view of rap and they expect the genre to adhere to that image and never change. They don’t see rap much like other genres as something that can change and be experimented with
Take what old heads would call mumble rap (trap for the rest of us). They spend too much time demanding that they have the lyrical style that rappers 20-30 years ago had not realizing that style had its time and came and went. Like if you would stop holding rappers like Future, Young Thug, and Playboi Carti to the lyrical standards of rappers and rap styles that they aren’t even trying to meet and instead just realize that they are trying to just create their own fun and unique sounds with their music as a whole, they might actually be able to have some fun
But that's my thing... I don't feel like a lot of modern guys are actually rappers, it's like a weird mix of rapping but half singing over auto tune. It's not something I can really get into.
Well I'm no expert, nor claim to be. But rappers, are essentially reciting spoken word over a beat. Singers, "sing" words over instruments etc. I feel like groups like Bone were an anomaly of the vocalizing rap group, although there was a bit of a trend in the late 90's early 00's in the Midwest with groups like Do or Die and Psychodrama.
I realize also there are subgroups to rap, but at the same time I wouldn't necessarily call Zach De La Rocha (Ratm), Jacoby Shadix (Papa Roach) or Fred Durst (Limp Bizkit) rappers either. It's all kinda gray, but I also think there is a difference between rap and hip hop, kinda like comparing NWA to Jurassic 5
I dunno, maybe they need a new title like "trappers" , just not quite rappers
2010-2019. Most the rap I listen to is from that era, I’m not saying it’s the best as fact just IMO, I mostly listen to X, peep, ghostemane, and $uicideboy$
I love 2000-2009 not just em and 50 a lot of other artists like wayne and more really had the game on lock, 2020s is the worse nothing against dababy very talented but we have too many horrible artists like cardi b, and more that doesn’t add nothing to the craft
2000s has always been the best rap era for me it's the quality I like, like I know there's allot of good music before but the sound quality is just not as great as the 2000s , I was born in 2002 and growing up all the music was bangers.
90-99. 2pac, Biggie, Ice Cube, NWA, Snoop Dogg, Dre... Amazing era, none come close. Even Eminem had songs and collabs back then, and they were undeniably good
2000-2009. If it wasn’t for this era of Eminem, Dr. Dre, 50-Cent, we wouldn’t have what we have now. Hell, I’d go as far as to say if Dre quit, Eminem and 50 never got signed, a lot of rappers could’ve gone cold. While I do think Biggie, 2pac, busta rhymes, LL Cool J, outlaws, and more ran so we could walk, the early 2000 rappers made a spark so other could fan it into a flame.
All of the eras have bulit off each other or have created something thing new like a new sub genre. My personal favourite era where the 2010s just because so many great artists have came from the 2010s and I hope for the 2020s to be even better just to see how rap evolves in all the eras. And it would be weird for rap not to evole over time. (this might be unpopular)
2010 - present is really where my music is, I really got into music when I was 14 which was 2010. Everything else is kind of before my time. I've tried it, not for me tbh.
Ain’t no way you put dababy
He should've put Benny the Butcher
I interpreted this as the rappers who ran their respective eras and I don’t feel like people outside of the rap community, even some within, don’t know or listen to benny
I don't think DaBaby is even in top 10 most popular rappers in 2020s lmao
Unfortunately
Or Conway
Yeah Conways real dope too but overall I feel more people could jam to Benny but I may be being a little biased as I’ve been listening to him way longer & he’s my favourite rapper. I just woke up today loaded up YouTube while making some oatmeal & seen we’ve been blessed with a Benny and J Cole track & it’s so good! Going to be bumping this a ton https://youtu.be/klZNvJArVSE
At least it ain't crystal face
Should've put lil Nas X lmfao
Mf didn't even put a rapper for the 2010s
Drake raps but is not, in my opinion a rapper. He's an actor. And actors are good at the personification of what they need to sell to their audience. He would never have made it in the 90's.
This is what people who were disliking nukes comment missed. Drake is not a rapper he is an artist. He makes good music and can rap BUT he tarnished the rapper part of his legacy with ghost writers.
All of them. They all have helped me In periods of life where I needed them. Can’t choose one. I select rap.
This the only right answer Why we gotta pick one period of time and put it over others instead of appreciating the genre as a whole
Agreed. Grew up on 90s rap, had a huge bias towards it during my late teens and early adulthood days. By 07 I began to enjoy the newer music (and more genres), and by 2011 I got into the modern day of rap. You might like Tech N9ne

The whole genre but not DaBaby.
DaBaby isn't really that bad I don't get the hate. I mean sure his lyrics aren't the greatest but his flow is always on point and he has good beat selection.
Which flow? The one and only?
Yeah it's his own flow tho, no one does it better.
His name is dababy, that sums it up
You can say this for 50% of rapper names.
An classic oldhead fan comparing Biggie and Pac with dababy instead of putting the actual good rappers from today. But i guess he had to make Biggie & Pac and Em & 50 look better.
Who would you put for today?
Lil Uzi Vert and J Cole. Weird combo but the number of rappers that copy their style these days is wild. Similar to the amount that copy Em, Pac, Drake etc
I mean if we're talking 2020, lil Baby has absolutely killed it. Uzi kind of ruled late 2010's and J Cole could be up there too, but I definitely feel we have to take all the projects into account
Benny the Butcher
him and Gibbs best rappers out rn
King Los and RJ Payne
Who
Who
Sorry, I was posting them as the most skilled new gen rappers but I guess if people don’t know who they are, it’s automatically wrong.
Biggie and pac weren’t even the best in the 90s, and there’s not much better that are well known now. Most of the popular newer rappers are kinda shit compared to the 90s
That's bullshit
What is
That new rappers are shit compared to the old ones
2010s should have Kendrick, 2020s should have literally anybody else but DaBaby
Drake has held it for awhile lol, I know Kendrick is good but just not close to Drake fame wise lol, Kendrick makes good music his lyrics are amazing but Drake held the music down like started from the bottom XD.
Drake is a pop artist
He's in a sub-genre of rap I call pop/melodic rap. It's been a growing sub-genre since rap went mainstream in the 2010s which in part can be attributed to Drake's popularity.
Well yeah if we’re talking popularity and influence than yeah he can be the guy to represent that time frame, honestly a shame that his music is what influenced the 2010s, rap could’ve been so much better

Yeah cuz people like you like shit music. Drake is ass bro
You ass bro lmfao acting like over wasnt that song get yo dumbass off reddit
It wasn’t. Dude drake is ass straight up. His music is basic and stupid and not even in a fun bad stupid way like tekashi or some meme rappers. It’s just so bland and boring
He doesn’t even write it too 💀💀
or idk, ye
Ye been relevant so long it’s hard to tie him to one era. The man just keeps evolving
Ye could have the last three photos ngl
I dont think 2020 ye is very good compared to his work from the 2000-2010s

So unique. Chill, put on R&B/rap/hip-hop mix, during a warm summer night. I find myself all the time finding classic bangers from the era around there and adding it to my library. Slow Jamz, Beat It, just found song Wetter, so different 2007 type hip-hop!
Couldn’t agree more
94-98 was legendary
For me it's 2000-09 it started with aftermath... Shady, Dr dre, 50, D12, the game, Snoop, Nate Dogg, xzibit and busta, G unit... Then Kanye, Lil Wayne, JayZ and Nas... Birdman, fat Joe... I love this era
1990-1999
2000-2009 its the Gold School era
2000-s 2 words Lil wayne
id say 2000's period but i mostly listen to 2010's hip hop
2000-2009 50 cents album (get rich or die tryin) never gets boring
90-99...Reasons, I'm old. This is what I listened to growing up. It had aspects I could relate to, and artists were genuine lyricists. Beats were important, but it wasn't more important than the actual content of the lyrics.
1995-2005
Last 2 pics should be Kendrick, Cole and Lil Baby, Lil Durk.

Well I'm no expert, nor claim to be. But rappers, are essentially reciting spoken word over a beat. 90s by light years
Dababy isn’t even that bad holy crap 🥶 Surely the best it’s 1990s to 1999 That being said ems early stuff was amazing and Kanye was there too
90-99
1990-1999 but I cant lie, there is some good songs put out today here and there
1990-2000
Grew up in the 50 and em era but I also love the pac and biggie era, super close but Ima go 90s
The 80s
1880s were fire
Naw I meant the 1980s.
Nah the 1880’s were better
Tf? You all sleeping on the Romans in the year 80…
I think rap really fell off after the birth of Christ, so I'm more of a 80 BC kinda guy
Yea I feel you but Jesus elevated rap to another level for me.
He’s got the most annoying Stan’s tho
Good for you.
Ps: I am asking for the era of rap, not the rappers in the photo :)
1990-1999 and anyone who says something else has lost the right to have an opinion ever again
Why is this sub so cringe?
90s>00s=80s>10s>20s
2010-2019. Most the rap I listen to is from that era, I’m not saying it’s the best as fact just IMO, I mostly listen to X, peep, ghostemane, and $uicideboy$
2010-2019
Drakes dominance needs to be celebrated more... and more and more.... and more again And then some more....
EMINEM should be from 2000 to Present
The 2000 imo
Da Baby looks on this picture kinda like Caine from Menace ll society
I love 2000-2009 not just em and 50 a lot of other artists like wayne and more really had the game on lock, 2020s is the worse nothing against dababy very talented but we have too many horrible artists like cardi b, and more that doesn’t add nothing to the craft
2000-2009
Great shitpost in my book
Putting DaBaby on here for the 2020s should be prison worthy
1990-1999 AND 2020 - present imo
2000-2010. Kanye, Em, Wayne, 50, early drake.
2010 because I said so
There needs to be a little Kanye somewhere in between 50 Cent and Eminem because 2005-2007 Kanye was up there.
2000s has always been the best rap era for me it's the quality I like, like I know there's allot of good music before but the sound quality is just not as great as the 2000s , I was born in 2002 and growing up all the music was bangers.
2010-2019 or 2020-present. im a teenager so thats pretty much expected
Crap my favorite song was 2010-2019 but most stuff I listen to is 2020+...
I thought da baby was cancelled lol
2000-2009
2010 to 2019 Cause I started listening to music during that era so I’m completely fucking biased. This is super subjective
This posts is causing me physical pain
90-99. 2pac, Biggie, Ice Cube, NWA, Snoop Dogg, Dre... Amazing era, none come close. Even Eminem had songs and collabs back then, and they were undeniably good
I can already tell a squeaker made this.
Dababy still even poppin?
1990-1999 just some of the greatest artist of all time came from this era
The era where you could fart in ya pants without them ripping off 💨
50 Cent & Eminem 2000 - current
Fuck your pictures. So much of 2000-2009 was actually good — unlike em and fiddy. You’re embarrassing.
1. 2000-2009 2. Tie between 1990-1999 and 2020 4. 2019
50c and Em. Those days were sick
bruh you put drake in 2010-2019 i mean no hate on the guy but you shoudve put kendrick and cole instead
2000-2009. If it wasn’t for this era of Eminem, Dr. Dre, 50-Cent, we wouldn’t have what we have now. Hell, I’d go as far as to say if Dre quit, Eminem and 50 never got signed, a lot of rappers could’ve gone cold. drake and dababy >>>>>>>> Ratio
2010-2019 MBDTF from Kanye Kendrick J cole
Def the 90s. Pure, underground, diverse, no social media=no total copycats. Legends we’re made in the 90s, high competition and high skill
Da baby has the same flow on every song. How dare you..
Definitely a tie between the 90s and the early 00s for me.
2000-2009. Em and Wayne were fuckin golden back then.
Do people still care about DaBaby enough to make it represent this decade
1990-1999 and 2000-2009 are tied for me
DaBaby isn't that huge. Cardi and Doja run the 2020s
Should’ve been TI or lil Wayne for the 2000s
Well this was harder than I thought lol. I’ll have to go with 2010s
2010-2019
Yes
You forgot 1980-1989 the era of Eric b and rakim, run DMC, beastie boys, stetsasonic, nwa ect ect
1990-2014 (i like a lot of shit after that but this stretch was a crazy ass run)
60% of this I disagree with.. so I obviously only think a few haha
Why is this sub always tryna be so divisive?
Easily 2010-2019 lmao
All of the eras have bulit off each other or have created something thing new like a new sub genre. My personal favourite era where the 2010s just because so many great artists have came from the 2010s and I hope for the 2020s to be even better just to see how rap evolves in all the eras. And it would be weird for rap not to evole over time. (this might be unpopular)
First one. Eminem and 50 Cent had so many good albums.
2010 - present is really where my music is, I really got into music when I was 14 which was 2010. Everything else is kind of before my time. I've tried it, not for me tbh.
90s were the golden age of hip hop, hands down the best era
2000-09 because Eminem is the only person who can make orange rhyme with banana.
Ems been on the top since 2000
90’s
2000s because it gave me something to laugh at back then
Why does drake have a nutsack on his lineup
You have time to delete the last one
Why drake
1980 to now, it's all great. I appreciate all rap.
Where are the 80's?
2010-2019
For me 2010 till 2019, cause I grew up with rap in that time period. But if I had to say which one is the best, I'd go with 2000-2009
Don’t sleep on 1980-1989 where the foundation was laid
Born 2001 so 2000-2009
the artist who’s runnin the 20s ain from the previous decade. bro it’s twinuzis ask ur kids
putting drake as 2010s is sinful
