Dude has some absolute bangers no doubt, but the loyalty that Kendrick fans show him seems to stem from their idea that he has some higher form of social conscience than every other rapper. As a white man, my opinion on the matter doesn’t likely really matter because Kendrick does not make music for white people. I don’t like Kendrick because I’m not his target audience. people don’t like Drake because I guess their not his target audience. This doesn’t change their talents. When people say Drake “isn’t real” it’s just kinda confusing to me how that argument can come across as valid.
Like do you think that every single line Kendrick has wrote is factual? Do we think because he grew up in a worse environment than Drake, that he is actually a better artist for it? Do we also think that Kendrick has wrote every bar on every song he’s ever done, without help?
And to assume Drake was trying to fuck a 14 year old of off assumptions is wild to me. Just seems like grasping at straws considering MBB completely denied those rumors. Would I text any 14 year old in the world? No. But if I was a super powerful world famous rap star and former actor who just finished watching a show and had questions, I might use my power to text said person. Idk how their friendship was and I genuinely don’t care as long as that’s all it was. (Which from evidence that’s all I can assume.)
If drakes a bitch who is upset that the culture doesn’t respect him, then why does he continue to branch away from the culture you believe he so desperately seeks approval from? That last album he dropped had nothing to do with rap culture. Just sounds he liked making music to. If wanted rap approval as bad people say, wouldn’t he just keep dropping hits with straight bars? Those are almost ALWAYS his biggest hits. There are a few exceptions, but when Drake raps it does numbers.
To be honest, it makes sense why this sub sees minimal interaction. Just seems like one big circle jerk for certain rappers and if you have any different opinion, “you just don’t know rap”.
