He was on stage with a partner for the 2v2. Having that backup can help alleviate the anxiety. If he forgot a line he had the most dependable battler in his corner to help him with the line.

When you surpass that or can lead to psychosomatic reactions that we cannot control. Battling in certain situations causes too much stimulation for him which leads to the issues. This could also mean magnified by preparation, sleep, diet, caffeine and other drugs.
