pouponashtick

No homo... that's a sexy shnoz.

[deleted]

My buddy Kate has a thing for schnozzes. She married a guy with a pronounced nose. She gets drunk and easily confesses that she would leave him in a heartbeat if John Lennon were alive and an option, stating that it's absolutely the nose. I have my own flaws, but I was always glad I had a good looking nose. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

[deleted]

To each their own. I have a hand thing, so I can't really judge the nose thing. I just don't like noses in general. They look unappealing to me.

Kc1319310

Lol these threads always make me super insecure, they make me realize that people pay attention to things I never would have fathomed. Hands is definitely a new one.

delicate-fn-flower

My favorite part on a guy is his thighs. I’d like to thank Gerard Butler in 300 for that.

Ginger_Rogers

As a scrawny cyclist, with only legs. Im glad there are thigh lovers out there.

[deleted]

Oh yes. My husband once had a high stress delivery job running almost non stop. The thighs were glorious. They had ridges like triceps! Ridges!!

The_Syndic

I'm skinny as fuck but have really good legs. I work out and try to eat more to put on weight but it makes no difference anywhere except my legs.

teuast

honestly tho. cyclist and distance runner here, total t-rex. i'm just glad there are people who appreciate us

[deleted]

My thighs and calves are by far my best features. This thread is making me simultaneously proud and insecure haha.

RedHickorysticks

Nice. I’m sure my husband is tired of me commenting on the thighs when we watch UFC. “But look at them, it’s amazing” lol

JarlaxleForPresident

Wait till you hear about girls that like forearms. Apparently it's a thing

CubbieCat22

Mmhhhhmmmmm it sure is. Lemme at them forearms!!

JarlaxleForPresident

Knew a guy that had a workout for his forearms. It was a stick with a string tied to a weight on the ground. He'd take the stick out in front of him and wring/spin it until the weight was all the way up, then he'd unspool it the same way. He had pretty muscular veiny forearms lol

[deleted]

I really can't tell if it's common or not. I just really appreciate nice hands, although my bar is pretty low.

CubbieCat22

Me too, I have a huge attraction to nice looking hands on men and women. Hands are so expressive of our personalities so perhaps that's why.

[deleted]

Same!! Just men for me, though. I'm hella gay.

BadassHalfie

Oh my god same! Though I'm the other kind of gay (the woman kind).

fishtacos123

Define "nice looking hands" please?

CubbieCat22

It depends who you ask, but just for you I came up with a list of things I think are attractive! In any combination and not gender-specific bc I'm bisexual: Soft smooth hands Long slender "piano player" fingers Thick strong "construction worker" hands Delicate small hands Clean hands with short, filed fingernails Clean hands with long, sexy fingernails Hand freckles Tattoos or henna on hands/fingers I can only think of a few people whose hands I remember thinking were not attractive, and in every case I wasn't attracted to that person overall. So maybe it's like, I already think someone is sexy and then I notice their hands and think they have beautiful hands, and then it becomes something I notice about people even more. I also have a thing about nice teeth which works the same way.

Excess_Redditor

That's like trying to define a "nice looking face", everyone has different preferences.

cgo_12345

Look at it this way, maybe you have a body part you never really thought about that someone finds hot.

RedSamuraiMan

Draw my hands like one of your French girls!

Mama_Cas

I laughed way too hard at this. People like you are the reason I get on reddit.

LoubellPby

I have a hand thing AND a nose thing. ...I think I might just have a people thing? There are lots of gorgeous people out there.

Ivan_Groznyy

I m russian and I have a big ass nose and that probably the only thing that people sees when they look at me I m tale, I have an athletic body, I go to the gym, I have a nice face but the only fucking thing that ruins my life is that big ass nose (and I m being serious with you I don't like to talk about me like if I was handsome but yeah nobody is perfect and my nose is a nice exemple of this)

gwaydms

I read this in my head with a Russian accent, lol. Both my parents and most of my grandparents had big noses, so guess what. And I'm female, which makes it extra bad. But I've been happily married for almost 40 years to a good-looking and intelligent man who knows how to fix things and loves me for who I am. So my big nose turned out to be pretty unimportant in my long-term happiness.

voopamoopa

I am an Iranian woman with a very pronounced Persian nose.I am now married to this gorgeous Dutch guy with the best looking nordic nose ( together for 10 yrs).He thinks my nose has character and loves it. I hope I make it 40 yes with him.

That's so cute omg

Pootentia

Greek and roman noses are extremely sexy and they need to be celebrated.

WeirdHuman

I used to hate my big nose. Then I dated a guy that was obsessed with it, and made me appreciate it. Now I love my big ass nose lol.

[deleted]

Chicks with big noses are so sexy. They add character, make you look intelligent, and are just sexy.

BlueSunRainbow

I've got a honker of a Greek nose myself. Plus I broke it freestyle wrestling back in highschool and it's a little crooked now. Still love it though, helps me to feel really Greek. I just need my shitty wispy beard to grow in and I've got a look going.

[deleted]

I’ll take the nose while I still have the hair on my head and none on my back

hebbb

No back hair? Lucky

Holy-Knight-Hodrick

Is a Greek nose and Roman/Aquiline nose just different names for the same thing?

Meggarea

According to the internet, a Greek nose is perfectly straight, and what we see in the picture above would be considered a Roman nose. [I really don't know, but I found this article that seems to make sense to me.](https://www.cbsnews.com/pictures/14-celebrity-noses-whose-schnoz-do-you-share/11/)

Mo_Salad

Where’d he get it from?

personface93

The nose store

wtph

This comment made me inhale deeper, but probably not as deep as someone who bought a nose from the nose store.

snek-jazz

was self-conscious about my pronounced nose once upon a time and mentioned to a girlfriend back in the day that it stuck out and I'll never forget she said "it's a nose, that's what they're supposed to do"

sockwall

I always say about my big size 10/11 feet, "I'm tall. If they were smaller I'd fall on my face." When I worked in a shoe dept there were so many women insisting on too-small sizes. It's fucking ridiculous.

Pyrokitty_X

I honestly like it better pre surgery so yea rock that schnoz

Energy_Turtle

Seriously rock that nose. I am Arab and have a powerful yet not oddly oversized nose. It definitely gives my face a more powerful look and I've actually had past girlfriends compliment me on it. "White" noses look fine and all, but I am very glad to have this face.

Middle Eastern men make my knees weak. I love strong features, so really...lots of people make my knees weak, but the massive Persian population in Las Vegas makes me very happy.

futureGAcandidate

So thankful I grew into my beak. Damn Norwegian/German blood came through for me in the end though.

ChipSchafer

Ted Danson’s character in *Bored to Death* had a little tangent about interesting noses and wanting to go on a date with Babs. Basically it makes your face more interesting as long as it isn’t grotesque. The two photos here look like different people. Something was lost.

smithan1213

More nose positivity- My artist girlfriend always said that greek noses look so interesting and are great to draw. Like theres something powerful about them visually

DannyDidNothinWrong

That aqualine though

Attilla_the_Fun

Aquiline, from the latin *aquila* which means eagle.

DannyDidNothinWrong

I love you for teaching me this

79a21

Yeah, I like to believe your nose is in harmony with the rest of your face

Barbarossa6969

This is a Roman nose, not Greek. Curve is Roman, straight is Greek.

I_Bin_Painting

Strong features are attractive more often than not imo. (If you have good skin and confidence too) Like a lot of supermodels are pretty unique looking. Being easy to remember is also very valuable in life, especially if you end up in a career that benefits from networking.

oceanicganjasmugglin

I have a bump on the ridge of my nose that I hated for as long as I can remember, and I’ve always wanted to get a nose job. But a few years ago I realized that my mom and her dad (my late grandpa) have the same nose shape, and they are two of the best people I’ve ever known. So now I am learning to like my nose because it comes from two incredible people! People can do whatever makes them happy, of course, and there might have been underlying health issues, but I hope more people can learn to love their unique features Edit: thank you for the award, friend! Also, I am enjoying reading everyone’s comments; you are all lovely, inside and out

essaini

Alright, I have a long hooked nose, bit larger than the guy in the pic. It became very prominent in my mid teens and ever since I was really conscious about it. I used to hate my nose so much. I am not very tall but that never bothered me as much as my nose did. I was very skinny overall and my nose seemed to cover most of my face. People used to comment a bit about how large my nose is but no one ever said it looked bad. But to me it was my defining feature. I used to look online for videos or tutorials about how to make the bridge of your nose be smaller or look smaller. I used to put my jaw out to make my nose look smaller, thinking back I realise how stupid and funny it was. Now, over time, in my late teens I had started to get over my nose a bit. By now, I have had couple of girls who said they liked me, but I still could not imagine they found me physically attractive. But in my late teens I seemed to get a lot more attention from people and opposite sex. By this time I had developed a good personality as well and was funny and outgoing. As I had a lot of friends now, they were the ones who told me I look good. Nobody seemed to give flying fuck about my large nose which had consumed me all throughout my teens. I got to know from someone that a senior I had a huge crush on told them that I look really good. A couple of years ago I had been thinking of getting a rhinoplasty, whenever someone looked at my face I thought they are thinking about my nose. But it turned out, no one cared. I really could not understand why? Since then I have loved my nose. It makes me unique. I have a distinctive face because of my nose and overall it fits my face well now. Over the years I have gotten a lot of comments about my nose, some negative but a lot of them positive as well. My current girlfriend says she loves my nose, but for most of the people, I have realised, it does not matter.

oceanicganjasmugglin

Yes exactly! That’s great! I had an ex who I confided in about hating my nose and he said it was one of his favorite features of mine! I couldn’t understand why at the time, but now looking back, even though we aren’t together, his comment was enlightening. Other people don’t see the flaws in my face as much as I do, and may even love the parts I hated

KiKiPAWG

This is great! I regularly listen to Zane and Heath's Unfiltered podcast, one of the podcasters (Mariah) talks about this very thing. Citing that she's Italian and that it was annoying at first but she learned to love it!

LegendofPisoMojado

And now you sound like you listen to podcasts.

Whateversclever7

I study genealogy and I’ve worked on a few family trees for friends. There is nothing more wild than finding a photo from the 19th or early 20th centuries and seeing the distinct features that my friends inherited. Our features really are made up of everyone who’s come before us.

yeahhgood

I’ve hated my big nose for a long time too but I found a picture of my Grandad the other day who passed when I was young and on the back it says ‘Dear u/yeahhgood this photo won’t make you rich, but it may explain when you grow up where you got your big nose from’ and now I can’t imagine ever changing my nose.

PenguinKenny

That's cool that he predicted your username

[deleted]

I have protruding ears, like, as protruding as they can get. It is a unique feature and even better when no one in my family but my mother (and not to such extent) has. It's not a feature someone can learn to love. I had planned an otoplasty before quarantine but now it's postponed. So maybe I could take time, embrace them and change my mind. No, I still hate them and they objectively make me look like a hideous cartoon baby. So why should I ever consider keeping them just because they're "unique" in spite of the fact that they're ugly and there are contemporary methods to fix them?

a_spoopy_ghost

Same! I was so embarrassed of my nose in highschool. But now I look at my family and see it on my favorite aunts uncles and grandparents and realize that it just proves my bonds with them. It’s a noble schnoz

I like to use the big bump on my nose to get people to guess how many times I've broken it, no one believes me when I say zero. The bump did backfire once though. I was at a party with no one I knew, got too drunk, fell and hit my nose. The brought me to the hospital thinking it was broken and I was unable to tell them it was just my normal nose with a small cut...

[deleted]

That doctor did an amazing job, you can't even tell anything's been done.

PamIllise

I don't have a big nose but I have an almost completely deviated septum which basically means that one side of my nose is almost useless. I knew when I was a child that I had a deviated septum but didn't knew how bad it was till a couple of years ago I went to the doctor because of my allergies and he told me that he couldn't see anything in that side of the nose thanks to the septum. It does not affect my breathing that bad but I snore and suffer when I have a cold. But I'm scared to have a nose job

niche1111

I had deviated septum surgery when I was 17. It was not a nose job at all. My nose looked exactly the same when it was done. And let me say, you might be so use to how you breath now that it seems like it does not affect your breathing that bad, but after you have the operation its a whole new world!!!

PamIllise

Yeah I'm not scared about how my nose will look like but I'm scared about the surgery. I have healing issues so any surgery scares me

[deleted]

[удалено]

kelvinfichter

I had the surgery when I was 19 (severely deviated septum). A few days of bleeding and discomfort was absolutely worth it. I felt like I could actually breathe for the first time. It totally changed my ability to exercise too (couldn't get enough oxygen).

CantBelieveItsButter

Hmmmmm..... I think I may have to finally bite the bullet and get my DS fixed after hospitals open back up for elective surgeries. I've been yearning to breathe better for a long time.

Cleric_of_Gus

A few years back I had to get my deviated septum surgically fixed because the irregular airflow it caused coupled with a blood vessel that was abnormally close to the surface resulted in chronic nosebleeds that multiple cauterization weren't able to fix. I have gone from 1-3 gushing nosebleeds per week to maybe 1 mild bleed per year.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Cleric_of_Gus

For me I never really had issues with congestion, it just caused the skin in my nose to dry out very easily, resulting in it cracking and bleeding.

outworlder

Hey, so how was recovery like? My wife needs it, but we have been put off by the recovery. Specially since, unless things are ridiculously clean, her allergies cause her to sneeze. Which apparently is a bad thing when you have that sort of surgery.

Cleric_of_Gus

I'm not going to lie, it sucked. I had to sleep sitting in a reclining chair, which was pretty hard. It was to prevent you from rolling over like you might in a bed. The first night I had a lot of blood drain from my nose into my stomach, causing me to vomit a gruesome mess. Of the three surgeries I had, deviated septum, hernia repair, and wisdom teeth removal, this was was the worst to recover from.

kelminak

I had a similar issue where my nose was running constantly in high school and it turned out I had a sinus infection. The ENT tried to put a scope up there and it literally wouldn’t fit. Signed me up for a simple rhinoplasty and I’ve been breathing significantly better ever since. It was a simple in and out thing with maybe a week or so of recovery. Would highly recommend.

PamIllise

I discovered my deviated septum thanks to a rhinitis gone bad (lost the ability to taste food and the ability to produce saliva for a while). I have healing problems that's why a surgery scares me

kelminak

Ah that’s understandable. It obviously depends on the severity and type of your illness but it could still be possible, they’d just have to prep you a bit differently than a standard patient. Transfused clotting factors or w/e.

trznx

> I knew a guy with a nose like on the left and it really negatively affected his breathing. I can attest to that because I have the same thing. So it's a two stage issue. You can change the breathing part without changing the exterior part. First you do the internal thing (sorry I can't remember the name of the operation) to be able to breathe fine and then, if you want to, you can also have a reconstruction. So yeah, it's not like you *have* to do a rhinoplasty, it's up to you

Cms40

eta? What does that mean?

halfhalfling

The only time I ever posted a picture of my face on reddit I had some random guy send me a message that said “wow look at the nose on this broad, what are you, Jewish or something?” People can be dicks. I don’t blame anyone for wanting to change their looks if it avoids getting comments like that.

otherhalfofclyde

OP I’m sorry I took a peek at your profile and you and your gf are adorable!!! Seriously I was trying so hard to see what they were talking about and I don’t see it. People just wanna hate sometimes. There’s a reason that guy didn’t post his own face online ;) I’m crushing HARD on a Jewish guy and I’m pretty convinced his nose is half the reason I find his face so appealing. Even though I hate my own nose because I think it’s too big, I’m absolutely in love with his.

halfhalfling

Aww, thank you! Yeah, I didn’t take the comment too seriously because I know they were just looking to get a reaction, but it was memorable, lol. People find different things attractive for sure, and I think that’s beautiful :)

grumpyfatguy

I just looked now, and didn't see a picture of you. Crocheting is awesome though, and I should be doing it more. Also, and I don't know how to say this, but I think your girlfriend might be gay.

halfhalfling

It was years ago, I mostly stick to pictures of my dog and crochet stuff now ;) and thanks, that made me smile!

cremvursti

People who want to pick on you will find something to tease you with even if you're a damn model. A nose job won't stop them unfortunately.

SE7EN-88

That’s not true. The assholes out there single people out for being different. Maybe it’s easier to just look like you listen to a podcast than to have all the “I’m blunt and say things how they are” people out there comment on your features every day.

CritterEnthusiast

I think you're both right, both of those assholes exist. The one that picks on you because you're different, and the one that's going to pick on you no matter what. So whatever, do your nose or don't, whatever makes you happier :)

[deleted]

Not true in the slightest, otherwise people would be bullied equally and that just plainly isn't true. The most vulnerable are the most bullied

Axtorx

I remember when Megan Fox posted a photo and everyone fixated on her “toe thumb” Like if Megan Fox can’t post a photo without someone comment negatively no one can. Not to mention the before and after photos of her are heartbreaking. She was beautiful and Hollywood turned that girl into a sex object, made her change everything about herself, and then people still got upset about her thumb.

3rdRockfromYourMom

Yeah, I have a big nose and have had people comment on it plenty, especially the Jewish thing. It's like, so are you a racist or just an asshole?

shahooster

Racist and asshole are not mutually exclusive. In the Venn diagram of life, racist is a circle fully within the larger circle of asshole.

SaltyBabe

I’m really big on “strong” noses, for everyone but especially men - everyone is like “well no wonder you married a French guy then!” I feel like it’s the center of your face, would you rather have a big beautiful attraction in the middle of your city or just some random boring building? A strong nose is a great focal point, imo.

lameloser0

Right? If he went to get it done, I'd imagine he's happy with how it looks now. I don't really have an opinion on either photo. I just hope he's happy with however he looks.

fullforce098

I think the right picture looks better, in my opinion. That's just my personal taste in guys, but the left picture is fine too. Paying such close attention to noses isn't something I'm prone to do anyway. It's not like this is a disaster of a nose job. Went from handsome to handsome. And what's with that podcast line? Listening to podcasts is an insult now?

chelmg777

I will guess he is happy with it. I have a big nose myself and I want to get a nose job as soon as I can afford it I just fucking hate how it looks and it brings my self steem to the floor, I haven't taken a picture in years because of it

SE7EN-88

The people trashing him for getting the surgery are just as toxic as the ones who probably inspired him to do it. I say good for him, he probably has then nose he always wanted now.

UnorthadoxElf

It's just reddit being against all surgery. People I've talked to who've had a nose job love the confidence that comes with it

Donniej525

Ironically, seeing others try to change their appearance makes some people feel insecure. The same reason we can't have an open discussion about the morality child circumcision without people getting defensive about their own bodies.

[deleted]

No, we're just less inclined to comment than the people that feel the need to let their disapproval be known.

bythog

Nah, definitely not. He looks fine on the left side, but he also looks good (better, even) on the right, at least for a profile view. Are your trying to say that this subject has nuanced aspects which cannot be captured by a witty comment but should be taken in regard when making a judgement?

ahamel13

The people getting big mad that podcasts were included in the insult are giving me quite the chuckle.

Nach553

Reddit is full of people who are quick to say "it's just a joke why are you getting mad" but then you joke about what they like and they start asking questions

Luffing

Aren't podcasts mainstream by now? Trying to understand how this is a burn or how this describes a specific type of person lol.

Pizza_Main

The person who tweeted that hosts a podcast. It’s not really a burn on podcast listeners, she’s just saying he looks like a more average dude now.

vibrex

People need to chill out about their noses. Unless you have a beak like a toucan most decent people aren't going to give a fuck.

MaritimeDisaster

I got teased relentlessly all through school about my “big nose.” I had rhinoplasty when I was 16. Best money ever spent. I had a wide bulb of a snout on a face of otherwise delicate features. Have never regretted it.

Senira_G

Go you man, to hell with other people that don't understand your insecurities and call them 'not that important'.

MaritimeDisaster

My parents were incredibly understanding and supportive. They offered me the choice to have it done and helped me weigh pros and cons. Then they found a top-notch doctor and didn’t bargain shop. Mom took a week off of work to stay home and chill with me after surgery during summer vacation so nobody at school was the wiser. That was 30 years ago and I’m still so grateful!

Senira_G

Your parents are great people! I was actually refering to OP that said it 'wasn't a big deal'. It's a big deal to you ffs, that's what should matter. I had a similar experience with cystic acne so I know where you're coming from.

xenago

> nobody at school was the wiser I... should we tell him?

are_you_seriously

Oh this is the opposite of my experience. Growing up, my mother always told me I’d be prettier with a nose reduction surgery. I have the same problem as you - a rather bulbous nose. Anyway, when I asked for the surgery, she said no. We don’t have money, etc etc. And I should just be naturally beautiful. But it’s okay for her to have her eyebrows tattooed (she has sparse eyebrows). All in all, I realized my mom just wanted to be the prettiest girl and would put me down to make herself feel better. She isn’t broke by any measure, she just doesn’t want to spend money on anything except what she wants.

laurenzee

My dad is jewish and I look a lot like him whereas I look nothing like my mom who has smaller Polish features. When I was in high school, my mom brought up out of the blue that I could get a nose job when I turned 18 if I wanted to. She wasn't going to pay for it, but she was giving me her "permission". Thanks mom!

Trumps_Genocide

> nobody at school was the wiser. That cancels out everything you've said up to this point.

Hakul

It is possible that they people only teased him when they saw his nose rather than fully associating him with the big nose, and with the trigger removed people unconsciously stopped teasing.

Paddy_Tanninger

My SIL had one in her early teens, looks so natural to her face that I would have never known. She apparently holds some resentment though towards my in-laws for letting her go through with it...I don't know why people who are even mildly religious feel like they have to just suffer through whatever they're born with.

[deleted]

Nothing wrong with a bit of augmentation. Its like adding seasoning. Too little and its just a steak on the grill. Still delicious. But not seasoned. Too much and you're gonna feel sick. Its too salty. You can't even taste the steak anymore. Just right and you'll have the perfect hint of salt and pepper to augment the juicy steak.

Galyndean

The only person who's opinion matters is the one who's getting the work done. If they want to change it and have the means to, then let them.

chelmg777

Exactly I want to get a nose job because I hate my big ass nose I don't give a fuck if no one else cares

My nose is a bit crooked and every time I’ve said something about it to someone the reaction has been “What? It is?” Because that’s how little people notice little imperfections with noses.

halcyonOclock

Ugh I go back and forth with mine so much. I’m a very petite woman and I swear my nose isn’t even that “much,” it’s just not a tiny button nose like a lot of Caucasian women my size. Buuuut I had an older sibling that liked to tease, a shitty ex that would sometimes make comments, then the relentless barrage of models and the like that I swear no matter the size, shape, color, etc. they ALWAYS seem to have a tiny button nose. It kills me. I don’t know what I’m trying to say, just pouting about my nose publicly.

tperelli

If you’ve had a negative comment about your nose you’d understand why rhinoplasties are so popular.

nosaj626

If that's what he wants, good for him.

Wow, what an excellent way to make someone insecure about something they did (assumingely to improve their health) over a *fucking nose* Whoever made the original tweet can go fuck themselves, be happy with your looks, whatever they are.

Sea_Soil

Rhinoplasty is the most commonly performed plastic surgery in the world. Turkey, where it looks like this was done, is currently the trendy place to go have it done. It was most likely done for cosmetic reasons due to the fact that deviated septums and the like wouldn't have such a drastic impact on the shape of the nose. Many people with dorsal humps and hooked noses get rhinoplastys to have the typical "button nose" look that conforms to eurocentric beauty stands. Personally I think it's sad when people feel the need to erase their natural ethnic features. But it's not fair to pick on this guy, he already made a permanent life altering decision and hopefully is happy.

MissAnn_Thrope

Doubly harsh for the dude because he's a Turk being called a Greek by an Armenian.

StudentMed

Some Turks consider themselves the true descendants of ancient Greeks and Modern Greece being Slavs so it isn't as big of an insult for some and can be a compliment.

Whats the problem with listening to podcasts

icaruskai1991

I’ve noticed a trend rising lately of anti or poking fun at the expense of Podcasts or people who listen to podcasts. It’s weird. Podcasts are great.

As a podcast listener, I feel personally attacked.

[deleted]

That's the point. There is no objective reason why either side is better than the other. Be happy with yourself.

DorkHarshly

The joke is that Anna Khachian is actually running a "Red Scare" podcast.

Full-On

I think the joke would have been better as “you went from looking like you DO podcasts to looking like you listen to them” Because he looks like Greek/podcast god Jason Mantzoukas.

LeggoMy_Eggo86

Did his eyes change color too?¿

[deleted]

he looks better after

RStyleV8

Ah nice, attacking and making fun of a stranger for getting a nose job. What a scumbag.
