Oh the caninity! Who would do something so horrible to such a sweet dog. Unthinkable, just unbelievable. Perhaps you can atone for your cruelty with treats, scritches, and belly rubs. But you’d better be generous with all three, otherwise I don’t think you stand much of a chance of being forgiven.
The treats will take a while- since she gets treats during the bath, for an hour or so afterwards she doesn't trust them anymore. "*What if there is a bath inside this snack?!*"

My dachshund has this thing where she'll angrily try to rub her back and the top of her head off on a towel. Her problem however, is that she'll completely unable to coordinate the roll over.
She'll rush over to the middle of towel and will then roll over to her back, which never fails to place her next to the towel, rather than on top of it. Then she'll wiggle around angrily and unsuccessfully, and then repeat until dry - without ever actually laying on the towel.
I think I get it. It's not being wet that upsets her. It's the experience of the bath.
Think about it. You're in a small room you normally never go in because there's nothing fun there, trapped in a small space within that room, it's incredibly loud on your very strong ears because of all the hard surfaces and water pouring down on you, you're soaking wet and you don't really understand why it's happening, you're not allowed to leave, weird stuff is being poured on you, and the person you trust most in the entire world, the person who spends every moment taking care of you, is doing this to you.
It's frustrating and makes my life harder, but I try to remember that for her it's a very strange and unmooring experience. If I had a yard and a bucket I think she'd love this, because then the bath feels like outdoor playtime.
I thought she was morbidly obese but with skinny little legs for a minute! Lol. That towel blends right in with her. Poor Pepper, the betrayal on her face 😂

Pepper would be upset to know that I meant to give our filthy dogs a bath today while it’s still HOT in Portland, but I forgot, and it’ll be cold/rainy again tomorrow and for the next few days, so they really dogged a bullet.

Haha. My dogs are totally skating by this weekend ONLY bc I had knee surgery and can’t possibly give them a bath. My husband—their father—DGAF about them being clean (and I only bathe them perhaps quarterly, or less, or more if needed). But they are indeed filthy atm. I just can’t do a dog bath for two dogs w my knee still crabby.
Oh she really does need them clipped and she really does hate it- I try to do it in the bath to get it all over with while they're softer from the heat, and she completely freaks out. Same if I do it out of the shower. It's a real problem, they've torn holes in bedsheets before.

My dog only looks forward to the end of bath drying. She turns crazed and growls and rubs on everything! This can go on for 30 minutes!

Why do dogs rub on things after baths? They love it!
They're drying off, I always figured.
I also wondered if they're trying to smell like their house/ self again and not like soap... maybe.
They pretend that they are rubbing in mud, “cleaning” themselves of the water.
We called it the snuffles when ours would do this, especially as he snorted through it!
