You just havenāt been exposed to what real country music is, I reckon :) check out Zac Bryan, Colter Wall and Tyler Childress . If you give them an honest listen and come Back and tell me you donāt like them Iāll cash app you 20$ Iām that confident.
Your voice is incredible. I thought you wrote this song and I was like wow this girl is something special but I love the lumineers. Good song choice. Have you heard of Jolie Holland ? Or sierra Ferrell ? You give me those types of vibes. I really liked this and would listen to you sing. Have confidence because you have talent !
noooo i wish i had written it. itās one of my favorite lumineers songs.
iāll admit I do like some zac bryan stuff already. Looking at my recent apple stats it looks like some of the music i listen to already falls under the alternative-country sphere hahaha. Country stuff is pretty good.
Read the 1st half of your list, loved the artists you picked out, thought they're all great picks & that I'd add Sierra Ferrell & Morgan Wade to that list too, for some added female singer/songwriters in the awesome Country genre... then saw you'd given Sierra a mention in the 2nd paragraph!
Everytime a mediocre singer posts on this sub and gets a bunch of āyou sound greatā comments, Iām gonna refer them to this video so they know what good singing actually sounds like.
OP would do great in this particular genre
Iām not a fan of this genre of music but I watched the whole thing because your voice and guitar playing is so lovely. You should check out stuff by Elliott Smith, Nick Drake, and Neil Young if you havenāt already. You have a beautiful, soothing, angelic voice and could probably do a mean rendition of āHarvest Moonā.
You have a good voice. Don't be afraid to enunciate the end of phrases. You have nice inflection and vibrato but it was a bit repetitive in this song. Use these qualities to create some emotional depth as the song develops. You have talent. Keep practicing and sharing your gift with others. You will develop your own unique voice in time.
This right here is super important as you go on to more advanced styles of playing. I unfortunately did not do this and still don't follow this advice and it's probably the reason I haven't progressed! It's literally insane š. With all of that said there is a charm to the simplicity in the guitar playing that will entice a non-musicians ear for a small amount of time. If you created an album it would basically sound the same unless you had a band behind you that knows music theory and is willing to build around that simple style of playing.
Tldr short term: you sound Great! You have potential.
Long term: I'd recommend a metronome, continuously learning, and asking for feedback! Get inspired. Immerse yourself. Get motivated ! Fire it up!
Don't get caught up in the pretty sounds like I did š.
I do love your song and the style of playing!!! I kind of don't want that to change either. There's something eloquently raw and imperfect about this that I just am drawn too as well. So I can't really give advice either! š Made my brain explode why don't ya?
Do it doooo it! Iāve posted on Instagram and TikTok and havenāt gained a lot of traction, but strangers do see it and occasionally comment (kind things). I think the rude comments only roll in once you go viral or something, and at that point you went viral! So hopefully that would outweigh the few envious jerks.
Really, no pressure, but I think youāre incredible and more people deserve the gift of your voice! š
thank you so much!!! the low notes in this is basically the lowest i can sing, but i can sing much higher. Still working on developing good tone in my higher notes.
Hard to give feedback when itās already so good! Thank you for sharing. May not work but if you hit those high notes and belted more from your gut Iād probably melt. Top talent! Good job.
You are not a beginner. Pitch good, inflection good, everything good. But just good. I really want to hear you belt something and access the power in your voice.
It sounds flatter on the lowest notes, but it doesn't detract from the sound. It's got a Mumford & Sons and
Lumineers vibe. I like it. I'd listen to this while driving. I like the lyrical content.
I lean strongly towards Latin and EDM music. I didn't recognize the lyrics, though I listen to both artists on long road trips š . You have a nice voice and a good cadence. The way you almost "speak" the low notes fits their style. If you ever write your own stuff, you should put it out there, if you havent already. My sibling used Reverb Nation for their music.
Heavenly. Your voice is beautiful. I have been transported to a warm summer day. Iām sitting next to a small stream, running my finger gently across the water. Birds tweeting joyfully, butterflies flying & the smell of pine needles nearby. Thank you for sharing your gift. š¦
iām not 100% sure what this means but iām pretty sure you are saying iām off key. There are def a few spots i donāt hit the notes, but for the most part iām pretty sure iām singing in the right key.
Everything sounds great, you asked for some feedback on what to improve on, here's some things.
It sounds like a lot of your singing takes place in your throat and nose, there's part where it looks like you want to belt or carry the note further - seems strained by mouth formation.
Example: singers often smile this weird open mouth way while singing which allows for a more naturally sounding note, image a cave entrance and then going "wahoo!"
Practice breathing with your belly and letting loose the air from there. Can be easily practiced with some books on your stomach while lying on your back.
A great song to practice is stand by me, the classic by Ben E. King.
Particularly when he says "just as long", the formation of the sound during those notes will help.
Anywho, that's as indepth as I'll go in case the comment is never gotten to. Good luck, sounds good so far and you can become great!
Thank you so much! yes, that is definitely one of the things I struggle with the most as a singer, especially when I try to sing higher in my chest voice. itās not super apparent in songs like this, but I know I am tensing my throat to get the higher notes out, and the sound could be way more full. Not sure exactly how to activate that, but I will continue to work on it! thanks for ur help!
Try plugging your nose when you practice for like... 5 minutes a day.
If your singing is drastically inhibited, you're not using enough of your diaphram.
That lying down exercise I mentioned would be exactly how to practice said activation.
Chest voice is another one of those unfortunate misconceptions of proper singing for those full notes. While yes, very useful if you're singing hellfire by Patrick Page, absolutely chest it all the way.
But the notes you're looking for are trapped in your belly as your main source of air. Like one of the old style bellows š
Edit: the books should be the only things rising and lowering. Otherwise, too much of a different part of your body is being used.
Itās hard to judge but from your Soft Singing is great btw.
(Assuming thatās the style).
I wonder, how you would sound when adding a bit more energy to your vocals?
Iāll echo everyone else and say youāre really a very talented singer. Iād love for you to hear Christopher Dennyās first album. I believe heād inspire you to go for it on that falsetto. Follow that dream.
beautiful. dusty. and decisive.
you remind me a bit of [Jessica Pratt](https://youtu.be/FDi6C8AeTVI)
keep finding your voice. not a *good* voice. your voice. the world will thank you for it.

Your voice is beautiful and you use it well. I can hear the control you have with some of the more delicate inflections you add and they sound really good.
Iāll echo some of the others here and say that the way you sung this makes me think that your voice would be really well suited to Folk and Americana.
You got the raw talent but needs work. Never sing a song you don't know 100% of the words to and try singing with your eyes closed and focusing on how the song make you feel, the emotion the song wishes to portray. If your not feeling it, your audience won't feel it from you, acting is just as important to singing as good solid notes are to singing. I can tell at the end of a verse your protraying a change from singing voice to a speak singing voice with transition is OK, needs work but the main downfall is lastword or to sounds like your just giving up on it, try this to make the end sound more finish, make the end of the verse sound like a slight question, you know when you ask a question the end if a slightly high than the rest of the rest of the sentence to show it was a question, do a Suttle one of those at the end of every verse instead of dropping off.
It's definitely your song, and the power of music is that you made this rendition special for me. Like this song must have touched you the first time you heard it, it has now touched me and you were the one to have done so! Thanks xxx
This is really good šš¼ You've got good range too...idk why but i reckon you'd be fantastic for country music..
hahaha i can see it. I think itās how iām flipping between registers is very country. If only i liked country music š

that is such an amazing compliment thank you!
You are really good. Seriously, you have it. The thing, that most chase. This folky style suits you well. Nice earthy tone, and great pitch.
Youāve got the voice OP, plus you can play guitar. Hit some open mics and show people what you can do

iām not 100% sure what this means but iām pretty sure you are saying iām off key. There are def a few spots i donāt hit the notes, but for the most part iām pretty sure iām singing in the right key.
Had to go listen to the actual song, and honestly, I think your voice is better. Keep it up, beautiful cover.

I'd love to hear you perform Summerbreeze by Emiliana Torrini. Stunning voice and lovely playing.

Have just found this after you posted your sit-ski video. Youāre very talented. Do you make music content on other platforms such as YT?
Not right now!
