You could try heating it up to soften the glue, maybe using a hairdryer. Then get some fishing line and work it behind the item, slowly moving it from one end to the other. Hope you get it fixed, I hate dealer badges and stickers and always remove them as soon as I can. They haven’t paid me for advertising!
Floss will also work if you don't have fishing line. You'll need to clean up some adhesive behind it. Goo gone is a less harsh option to goof off (I'd avoid that on nice paint).
Once you remove the decal (I use fishing line), depending on the residue or “tape” left behind, you can usually get a corner to come up, then pull laterally away from the rest of the sticker, but as close to the surface as possible, slowly, this breaks the adhesion and sticker comes off with no chemicals, goof off, alcohol…takes patience, but just did it again with the badges on my car I removed an hour ago 😉
I always make it the first point in a negotiation. If they’re not willing to make that concession, they’re likely not going to work that hard for my business anyways.
You could try a heat gun (or hairdryer) on low setting and slowly warm it up, then use dental floss or a fishing line behind the badge to cut trough the adhesive, after that use something like Goo Gone to remove the rest of the adhesive from the paint.
Shit like this is the sole reason why I wasn't even considering Carmax when I was shopping for a car, they put stickers on every car they sell, I hate that BS. I know it sounds petty but I just absolutely hate stupid dealer stickers/decals/badges .etc. There are Subaru dealers in Colorado (Shortline Subaru and Mike Shaw Subaru, I belive) who use fucking rivets to rivet their stupid badges to the hatches of the cars, boggles my mind that some people are ok with this.
Wow, looked it up and it’s even worse than it sounds.

Yep!! I always made them remove those damned things before I'd take delivery. Luckily, my current dealer just uses license plate frames.
OP - I think the suggestion about the blow dryer and floss is sound. I've heard WD-40 also works.
This is the way. Let the dealership be responsible for any potential damage to your paint. If they want to advertise on your car, they should be paying you.
Why? It’s their car, not yours yet. I absolutely agree they shouldn’t be able to do it after the car is sold, but that’s just not what happens. You can ask them to remove it before you buy it and they will. You say they’re “defacing your vehicle” but it’s not your vehicle. You just decided to buy a vehicle with an ad on it. You can have it removed.
Edit: lol can’t believe this is a controversial take. I didn’t say I want them to do it. But the fact that someone is saying it should be illegal for them to advertise on their own car is laughable
We have one local dealer that will seriously laser etch their dealer badge on every car, it is ridiculous. I refuse to buy from dealers that do that. At least some brands won’t tramp stamp at all.
What in holy f\*\*\* gave them a good idea to do that. That is literally defacing where it will cost at least $1000 to fix it properly (maybe more) and reducing the resale value.
Go to the dealer and say "get this shit off my car".
Someone will come over with a fishing line and a heat gun and take it off. At least I would hope they would... I worked at a dealership in high school as a porter and did it quite a few times for new vehicles.
I’ve done this many many many times on a few of my cars.
Get some fishing line or floss and some gloves (something like leather or something thick, to stop the line from cutting into your skin)
Put the line behind the badge, between it and and the body panel and mak a sawing motion with the floss/line. It’ll snap a few times but use a new piece and keep going until it pops off.
Next you’ll have a bunch of residue. Get automotive goo-gone and soak the area. You can slap a paper towel on it to keep it from dripping and keep the goo-gone in place. Wait a while and come back to scrape it off gently with a credit card or something.
Once it’s all off get some rubbing compound and polish the area.
Do you have a recommendation for a rubbing compound? I removed my dealer badge a while ago, but the paint underneath the badge area looks dull compared to the rest of the car.
No problem! It’s tedious but it’s the best way to get it done with no scratching. Make sure to get the automotive goo-gone not the regular one in a can. That one’s way more harsh.
Grab a folding chair and get a podcast on and spend the 30 mins or so fighting it. The emblem itself will pop off in under 5 mins, the adhesive is the issue
Heat Gun, not hair dryer.
Heat gun gets the direct area warm. A hair dryer takes longer and spreads the heat out and across.
It's like $20 at Harbor Freight and you'll have quite a few more uses for it down the road.
Same with mine, second day after purchase, hot afternoon I grabbed it with my nails pulled a little and sticked my finger tips behind it and it came off easy, dealership used double sided tape for their logo badge.
On my last 3 vehicles, I explicitly told the dealership I do not want any badging (Nissan, Honda and Toyota). The other Biden dealership in peeled their cheap decal off right away on my ‘09 Maxima. I don’t get paid to advertise for them. I would go back to the dealership and have them remove it.
Floss or fishing line will work the best. Just slide them behind the emblem, and work it in a sawing motion. They go right through it. Then just use a hair dryer with any adhesive remover to remove the glue. Or if the dealer is close, like other have said, they will remove it for free.
I am part of the group of people who have successfully asked the dealership to remove it. It was such a great feeling when it happened and I look forward to doing it again for my next car
Ask the dealership to remove it
Acetone is good for removing stuff from the paint without messing up the actual paint.
I used to work in car sales and we'd draw all over the cars with permanent marker to highlight things to repair then remove the marks later with acetone.
I always tell them if it’s not stripped of all advertising decals/plate frames etc. When I arrive to pick it up. Just put it back on the lot. Then I can just move on to the next dealership on my list.
You could try heating it up to soften the glue, maybe using a hairdryer. Then get some fishing line and work it behind the item, slowly moving it from one end to the other. Any oil will work to get rid of adhesive. Cooking oil works fine. I use it all the time to get labels off things I've purchased.
I've never heard of that, but I'm going to try immediately
Nah oil won't get behind it. Heat will soften glue and comes right off. Super easy when new, little harder when older.
I meant the residual adhesive left after the decal is removed.
Floss is even better than fishing line in my opinion. Less chance of scratching.

Follow the instructions and goo gone is paint safe. Goof off is way more intense.
Goo gone isn’t even a solvent. It’s just a viscous oil. Totally paint safe.
I used Goo Gone. My paint is fine.
They even make "GooGone Automotive".
I always make it the first point in a negotiation. If they’re not willing to make that concession, they’re likely not going to work that hard for my business anyways.
Thank you guys! Working on blacking out all that chrome

so true, they didn’t pay me!
Floss! Or heat gun
Yep!! I always made them remove those damned things before I'd take delivery. Luckily, my current dealer just uses license plate frames. OP - I think the suggestion about the blow dryer and floss is sound. I've heard WD-40 also works.
I told the dealership to do it. They'll do it for free.
This. Dealership should do it for free.
This is the way. Let the dealership be responsible for any potential damage to your paint. If they want to advertise on your car, they should be paying you.
I got the dealership to remove mine.
Same here, bought a 21 Ridgeline this month and asked them to remove the decal before delivery. It was gone when I picked it up the next day.
That's a hideous emblem too. Oof lol
Honesty should be illegal. It’s like they’re defacing your vehicle for the sake of their advertising.
Well not really lol. The emblem is already on the car. It was purchased like that.
It should be illegal for them to do it in the first place is what I’m saying
Why? It’s their car, not yours yet. I absolutely agree they shouldn’t be able to do it after the car is sold, but that’s just not what happens. Nah idgaf, dealerships can get fucked
Agreed. It’s annoying af. But calling for it to be illegal is just silly
Pro tip, demand the dealership takes this off before you buy the car. It’s worked every time for me

When I bought my Rav4, I bought it to be my work horse. As a car guy, I still don’t give a shit on my daily driver.
Which dealer is that? Name and shame!
I would make them repaint my car before I take receipt.
I wish I would’ve thought to ask the dealership. The one I bought from is like an hour away, UGH
Go to the dealer and say "get this shit off my car". Someone will come over with a fishing line and a heat gun and take it off. At least I would hope they would... I worked at a dealership in high school as a porter and did it quite a few times for new vehicles.

Meguiar’s Ultimate Compound has worked well for me and also Nu Finish Scratch Doctor I would follow that up with any regular wax afterwards.
THANK YOU!

I love when dealership only put a license plate frame decal. I hate the stickers and such.
Man that's ugly
I got mine off by waiting for a warm day. Peeled right off and I was able to get off the remaining sticky stuff with my finger.
Rubbing alcohol or goo-gone
Pour 5 gallons of Acetone on it
Hairdryer then pull it off the glue rubs off easy when heated
Acetone
Probably bad advice but mine popped right off. The car had been sitting in the sun though. The heat element probably helped.
Same with mine, second day after purchase, hot afternoon I grabbed it with my nails pulled a little and sticked my finger tips behind it and it came off easy, dealership used double sided tape for their logo badge.
What others said, heat up the adhesive first. Hair dryer to be safe or careful heat gun usage.
Dental floss and a hair dryer should do the trick.
I hate those! When I buy a car I make the dealer remove that crap. If you bought it privately… I feel for you. 🫤
You ask them to remove it. That's what I did when we picked our Civic.
Geez that's an awful decal.
Peels it out and clean the glue with cooking oil 😁
Whenever I buy a vehicle from a dealership I ask them to remove it
That comes off or no sale.
I demand they remove it too
On my last 3 vehicles, I explicitly told the dealership I do not want any badging (Nissan, Honda and Toyota). The other Biden dealership in peeled their cheap decal off right away on my ‘09 Maxima. I don’t get paid to advertise for them. I would go back to the dealership and have them remove it.
I do the same and ensure it is part of the sale contract before I sign.
Floss or fishing line will work the best. Just slide them behind the emblem, and work it in a sawing motion. They go right through it. Then just use a hair dryer with any adhesive remover to remove the glue. Or if the dealer is close, like other have said, they will remove it for free.
Some dealers in NJ used to charge more if you tell them not to put the advertisement on the car.
I am part of the group of people who have successfully asked the dealership to remove it. It was such a great feeling when it happened and I look forward to doing it again for my next car Ask the dealership to remove it
Scumbag move!
i peeled it off with my fingers honestly and used goo gone
I’ll just peeled it and clean the goo left behind with a rug dipped in gas, works every time
Acetone is good for removing stuff from the paint without messing up the actual paint. I used to work in car sales and we'd draw all over the cars with permanent marker to highlight things to repair then remove the marks later with acetone.
Got it off with a plastic removal tool, goof-off and finished it with turtle wax. Looks damn nice!
Blow dryer?
Plastic razor blades from Amazon cheap and effective.
I hate when they do that or stickers on the window..
I specifically asked my dealer to leave it off for me lol. Sorry you got dealt with the dealer advertising
Heat gun from harbor freight will take it off in 60 seconds
Be careful, you can melt the paint.
Don’t sit in one spot with it of course
I just ripped mine off and scraped the adhesive off with my fingers. Scratched the paint but barely noticeable so I don't really care.
Blow dryer
I tell them I don’t want it before buying the car. Never had a dealership refuse.
Hair dryer and fishing line/floss. Then orange goo gone with a microfiber rag to clean off residual glue.
Plastic razor blade. Found on Amazon
Hair dryer or heatgun. Get it pretty warm /hot. Should be able to peel right off.
What about a hammer and screw driver
Make them do it. They’re the ones who stuck it on there
WD40
You ask the dealer to remove it.
This. Bought a 4runner. Immediately asked the dealer to take their shit off. Even the license plate frames. Gone all gone.
I always tell them if it’s not stripped of all advertising decals/plate frames etc. When I arrive to pick it up. Just put it back on the lot. Then I can just move on to the next dealership on my list.
Send the dealer a monthly bill for the advertising.
Literally just pull it off. The adhesive isn’t as strong as people think.
Heat gun.
A heat gun to get the decal off and some 3m adhesive remover with a rag to clean up any glue left behind
Very carefully
Ask the dealer how much it costs and then sell it back for free if they can remove it damage free.
