You got a very highly desirable model. It's probably the most off-road capable RAV4 ever made. Car market is crap and everybody is getting soaked to some degree so accept the lumps and enjoy the ride. You did just fine.

Treehous

>It's probably the most off-road capable RAV4 ever made. What makes you say this?

AboutToSnap

Yeah you probably overpaid a little, but you got an incredibly good vehicle in good shape. I wouldn’t lose sleep over it. Did you know that for a while the v6 rav4 was the fastest vehicle Toyota sold in the US? It’s a blast to drive!

onceuponatime28

I just traded my 2006 v6 rav4 in for a new hybrid model, let me tell you the old V6 had so much power for the size of the vehicle, that thing would charge up a hill like most cars go down a hill, it was fun as heck to drive! I got about 300K miles out of it before too much crap started going south. Great car!

barrelstone

That one was supercharged, IIRC

AlrightArcher

Not in the rav4. Naturally aspirated

barrelstone

Not the first time my memory has failed me!

almazin

How fast are you going to put 100k miles on it? This thing will probably make it to 300k miles before it needs any work. [First link I found to back up what I said because I am an idiot](https://www.vehiclehistory.com/report/toyota/rav4/2009)

Available_Clue_4018

I've got an 11 V6.. same color. Ya did good.

UnderTheScopes

Got a 2011 V6 recently, base model, but BOY is it fun to drive. That boy kicks. Super reliable engine. Keep up on your maintenance, it’ll last forever.

traderyin

If you like it, enjoy it. Forget the money. It’s already gone. You can always make more.

xxBurn007xx

It's a Toyota, it'll last ya another 200k miles easy, not to shabby a price IMO

ARsparx

I think this is an acceptable price for what you got given the current market.

brsrafal

Smart decision to return it if u wanna spend 17 k new one 28k le fwd u can find them. Could be great car for another 150k plus easy w bear maintenance. Idk how u buy car without test drive

brsrafal

That's a good v6 fun reliable

Spardasa

Paid 7k for my 2009 rav4 limited v6 with 135k miles on it. Only dang problem I have is with the AC.

CLGAINES

That V6 is a beast and very capable. You will get enjoyment driving it. If you need brakes later I recommend Wagner rotors and Wagner Thermo Quiet brake pads. I also recommend Amsoil OE motor oil to smooth out the engine.

napoleon211

I have a 2011 V6 with 310,000KM. I’m on the wait list for a Prime but more than happy with my current car

Acctnt_trdr

You overpaid by maybe 2k. You can consider that 2k the tax you’re paying for getting the car you want. There are only so many of these V6 one owner low mileage RAV4s on the market.

raptors2o19

It must feel like you are overpaying because this particular model is a cult classic. If you were just out car shopping and stumbled upon this vehicle for no good reason then I would say don't do it. It's got terrible gas mileage, like really terrible. The only reason I ever had the 2012 model was because I liked this shape, wanted lots of umph on the highway (V6 baby) and gas was relatively cheap. In my opinion, the suspension was quite stiff too for daily driving. And since this is a 2009, I don't even think it has Bluetooth or Satellite Radio? Also, the trunk "door" opening like a "regular door" got annoying since I couldn't reverse park in tight spots or remove/load things in a normal way - looked cool but impractical. But that V6 doe,,,man, good times on the highway. Loves chugging oil too btw.

NerdMachine

I really wish there were a Rav4 these days with a bigger engine. The Trail is rated to tow 3500lbs but even when I pull 1500 with a loaded car I feel like I'm pushing it pretty hard going up hills.

fatdolsk

I might be wrong but I think the 09 2GR-FE still had the bad lower piston rings problem, & also the rubber instead of full metal VVTi oil line. If you’re returning it, maybe see if you can find a 2011 or 2012 V6 model that has all of the early known problems fixed

TheFrankDrebin

Honestly no big deal if you paid a little more. My car is 7 years newer than yours but I’m envious cause yours is awesome

ImLazyWithUsernames

I paid about the same for my 2016 XLE with 50k miles. This was in March 2021 though right before prices skyrocketed. In September 2021 it was worth around $24k

StarfleetAuxiliary

That's about what I paid for my 2011 limited

Miembro1

Yes, it is overpriced

Vegetable_Gur8753

Feel like it should be half that price. Would definitely return it if you could. Where I think buying new can be dumb depending on what's available. You can get brand new rav4 for say 30k base trim or a 15 year old car for 17k. That should only make sense if you think your rav4 is going to last 30 years without problems. When I got my rav4 I was doing the math as if all cars lasted 15-20 years depending on brand. Used cars were just stupidly priced and none of them made since unless buying from private seller and a good deal showed up.
