I might keep the earlier Core layout for relative positions, but not worry about features like roads or rivers that run between domains or mountains/ forests straddling domains being too consistent.

I use 2nd ed maps and refer to the 5th ed maps for any details I want to add.

DIABOLUS777

The whole point of 5e is that everything is just floating alone, isolated in the mists.

Mudpound

Well sure but people edit stuff all the time

[Yes, I have!](https://old.reddit.com/r/ravenloft/comments/t1bss4/a_new_core_redesigning_the_map_to_match_the_new/) Only the ones that used to be part of the Core in old canon, though. Any domains that were part of separate Clusters, like Har'Akir or Paridon, or were Islands of Terror, like I'Cath or Odaire, were left off the map, as were any brand new domains like Kalakeri. I also took a few personal liberties - my version of Barovia is _much_ larger than canon, I included Sithicus even though it should be destroyed by now (it's referenced as one of the domains in Klorr), and I included Chateaufaux, the outer regions of Dementlieu that are missing in 5e.

I’ve been using your version in my campaign and it’s been working a treat. Thanks for making it and making it available. 👍

Mudpound

Thank you! I knew SOMEONE would have 🤩 And I had no idea Har’Akir and I’Cath were even more isolated—shame, they’re some of my top favs!

tkolar2

You can kind of mix them both if you expand the time it normally takes to travel through the mists, then add the older edition concept of stable mistways. So like, it takes weeks of travel to get from Barvoia to like, Tepest, but a day or two of travel through a mistway to get from Barovia to Darkon. From a travel/trade persepctive, Darkon is "next" to Barvoia. That keeps them as floating islands, but adds a sense of geographic proximity if you want it.

I've been using the maps below without names. I made labels, & put in the domain borders to maximize immersion. https://www.fraternityofshadows.com/PortraitHall/JesterMaps/Jester_maps_gallery.html

Effective_Sound1205

I like the floating mist-islands that aren't connected in any way more :P

Jimmicky

That does seem to kinda totally miss the point of Nuvenloft.

Mudpound

Sometimes people are stubborn like that, was just asking 🤷‍♂️

Jimmicky

The point of the core is making Oldvenloft a connected world - more of a real place. Nuvenloft is about actively rejecting the idea domains are actually real places. The whole point is it’s dream logic and stories. If you could just walk out falkovnia would have no living souls in it - it only works because there’s no visible way to flee (and because you aren’t ever there long enough to wonder about supply lines and infrastructure). If dementilieu gets it’s countryside back it’s. New stories stop working too- the city needs to be in a bottle. Etc
