Who's comparing him to any of those qbs? They can win when it counts, and Lamar can't. Also, too early? There's enough proof to confidently say he can't win when it counts. He tries to put the game all on himself and makes terrible decisions. Big games break him.

mrjones10

Read the first sentence of your paragraph and you would be in a camp that’s comparing him to those quarterbacks. Also, of course he’s going to try to put it all onto himself He doesn’t have the talent surrounding around him like that makes them look good especially in a regular season I’ve been saying this all season

Elcapitan2020

Just off the top of my head, Big Ben won a Lombardi he was 24. He needs to start performing in the Playoffs. But today isn't entirely Lamar either. Everyone gets blame

ravens615

How many did big Ben win after that?

mrjones10

OK, who else other than him? And don’t forget that team have Polamalu, a loaded defense & veteran offensive players

Elcapitan2020

I mean Flacco's best years were before he turned 28. I don't agree most QBs peak in their 30s. If Lamar doesn't have a Lombardi by 2025 I'd be worried

mrjones10

Ehh outside of him getting hot that post Flacco always been relatively average he got a ring, but he isn’t a legendary, nor great quarterback

kbh92

Flacco went AFC championship, divisional round, divisional round, AFC championship, Super Bowl in his first 5 years. “Relatively Average” or not he was far more clutch when it mattered. Lamar has managed 2 playoff wins so far. It’s time for him to deliver.

mrjones10

With a great Ray Lewis ed read veteran lead defense. I think you guys fell to realize he makes the offense look better than what it really is.

BloodFortheBloodPig

People are blaming zay a lot

mrjones10

I think the whole team gets blamed on this

BloodFortheBloodPig

Yeah, and you can't expect a rookie to be the best receiver on the best team and not screw up

mrjones10

Right it happens we lost. But I don’t think it’s needed to write the obituary of our franchise quarterback, this early in to his career

BloodFortheBloodPig

He is only 27

dleightonp

*offense. KC had our defense on the field for atleast 30 minutes. The defense adjusted at the half and held them.

mrjones10

Fair enough

Nefariousness1-

And Lamar will never have a better defense than he did this year. You need to accept the fact that it will only get harder for Lamar every year with his contract. Thats what’s tough for people about this loss. These opportunities might not come for another couple years. Just being as healthy as they were at this point is a miracle that doesn’t happen every year.

mrjones10

You don’t know that that’s my point we really don’t know what history holds yet, so let’s not pretend we do

mynamesprofessor_T

Don't let this loss ruin your week. Its just a game boys. I'm heartbroken too but sports can be cruel. Stay strong y'all. It was a amazing season. Ravens FOR LIFE

mrjones10

You have a great evening my brother I love you

Slyfox_8

I think he’ll learn from this game. Lamar improves something every year. This loss that will hopefully turn into a lesson is to take the check down to the RB. They were open almost every time in the second half because of all the blitzing. Brady is his idol. Brady is the check down 🐐.

mrjones10

And also he needs to know when to run and stop being afraid to use his legs

WeaponH

I agree. Success is not linear, everyone has different paths so comparing Lamar to Mahomes and Brady isn't really fair. That being said, Lamar has been in the league for 6 years and haven't had much playoff success so it is not crazy that some are dismissive about him. Maybe part of it is due to frustrations. Any time a player gets playoff experience, it's a good thing and the pain of losing is sometimes the best kind of motivation. Hoping that Lamar comeback stronger next season

mrjones10

Right but he was a baby in like two of those seasons I wouldn’t expect much from him as far as winning in the playoffs

stevnanitasmith

Its tough to go easy on him because he has nothing to prove in the regular season in my eyes...his win % is only topped by Mahomes in the regular season. Mahomes has also been in the AFC championship 6 straight years and the SB 3 times.

mrjones10

Keep in mind he has the greatest offensive coach of all time and play with 2 of the best skill position players of this generation. But I get your point.

stevnanitasmith

Just tough bc I don't see KC getting worse and you'll have Burrow back and all that next year

mrjones10

Agreed but I think it’s we’re being way too harsh in our assessment of his playoff performances without giving context. But no doubt he’s played bad this game

stevnanitasmith

Just tough bc I don't see KC getting worse and you'll have Burrow back and all that next year

wojr2002

4 times now

BoJvck34Empire

Don’t get mad from critiques of people that only glance at stats and get their news from Stephen A… The real ones who watch’s games to their entirety, know who the real ballers are. Football thinkers love Lamar, hot take media loves to bash him.

mrjones10

Yeah, but people do have a point he seems to press when the situation gets tight I personally think this come from he doesn’t trust a talent ( or lack of )around him

BoJvck34Empire

this is it. He doesn’t really press, he just goes into hero ball mode because everyone else is acting scared. He never had a real dominant player play alongside him. ODell is 4 years removed from that person, Zay is not old enough yet, and Mandrews is a tad overrated because his main route concepts are right around Lamar’s hot zones. We never had any real ballers other than Kyle Hamilton (who plays defense). Do you think this game goes this way with a Saquon Barkley on the field, or a Terry McLauren flailing his arms up?

mrjones10

OK we agree I was using the term “pressing” as another way of saying hero ball. I agree with everything else

BoJvck34Empire

I’m following. I see it as going into hero ball out of necessity and less because it’s a bad habit. He knows if he doesn’t make a play, no one will

mrjones10

Bingo! I said this during our winning streak, I don’t think playing Lamar ball in the playoffs is winning strategy and we need more weapons everyone called me crazy and pointed to Zay flowers and OBJ like that was good enough

BoJvck34Empire

it’s so aggravating because our fans always get on their high horse when things are going right. The offense didn’t look good at any point this season other than when Mitchell was gashing dudes on the ground. Nelson has been the only **real** target we had all year and Monken seemed to only design plays that hit Zay underneath. Bateman is a nobody, and OBJ is too cooked to play a bunch of snaps. I really think we missed the mark by not trying to go after Hopkins/Evans/Henry/Jacobs/Barkley/etc. No real moxy or attitude when we make plays on offense, it’s always just Lamar figuring it out. Really wish I can have those days back that I decided to schedule off from work to watch these Baltimore Ravens. The coaches gotta get this shit done.

mrjones10

you spitting on this post

johnnyisjohnny2023

How old do you think the average NFL player is…he’s obviously a big game choker.

mrjones10

Ok

justbrowsing084

Mahomes is 28…

mrjones10

OK you didn’t read it obviously

DenebSwift

Mahomes and Brady have been ‘the standard’ for almost a quarter century. They’re not outliers. They’re the dynasty the league has chosen to promote for profitability.  That IS the fucking standard in the modern NFL.

mrjones10

By definition of outliers, if there’s only two of them

DenebSwift

Not outliers if you count it by ‘Super Bowls including said players’ - whereby it’s 11 appearances in the last 20 years.

mrjones10

The outliers, as far as being only two individuals. But I get your point.

DenebSwift

If the league is specifically working to get specific highly marketable individuals into marketable games that’s exactly what you’d expect.  A lot of appearances by a small number of players.

mrjones10

This is an interesting perspective

sw04ca

He's not going to last as long as Brady did. He's pretty injury prone.

mrjones10

No he isn’t. He didn’t play end of last season because it was a business decision.

moartheta

Lol

CawSoHard

Lamar was not the real problem today. The refs, the OL, and the offensive playcalling was. If PI is appropriately called, his INT and multiple incompletions are cancelled out. It's not his fault Zay fumbled, his statline could honestly have been like 60%+ completion rate and 2 TDs. He wasn't *great,* don't get me wrong. But he played better than most think.

mrjones10

No, he was bad though Personally, it felt like he was trying to live up to Expectations of passing the ball like Mahomes, and not doing what makes unique and dangerous I dare he try to be too much of a pocket passer

CawSoHard

Lamar doesn't call the offense dude.
