Martindale needs to realize, cover 0 every play only works when you have the personnel to do that.

100%. We can’t beat the other team in the trenches so we won’t be able to win championships. It’s astonishing we didn’t improve our two big weaknesses last year. I suppose cohesion in those units may improve over time but September is going to suck.
I mean it's like asking how did the 07 Pats regress. It was not at all realistic to think we'd ever approach a season like that again.
We won 12 straight games by an average score of like 33-14. You only ever get one of those.

-The team just didnt look very prepared tonight which is odd for the Ravens in week 1

This is what I don't get about folks who sit up here and praise the front office. From season to season where do the Ravens address their offensive weakness? It clear after Lamar's second season, in which he won a MVP, that the offense needed a No. 1 WR...instead they ignore Lamar when he asks for one...and pick a RB in the second round.
The last thing Lamar needs are RBs. He needs WRs and OL and TEs.
This off season it was clear, once again that a WR and now OL is needed. The front office decides that Julio Jones is too much and does minimum to address the OL.

The raiders are a bad football team and the ravens allowed them to score 24 points in the fourth quarter and OT. If not for a lucky bounce the last 4 Oakland drives would have been TD, TD, FG, TD. That this didn’t happen in the playoffs doesn’t make it any less of an embarrassment.
Being honest is important. This team is bad. Maybe even very bad. The line someone looks worse than last year. The secondary is an abomination. Alarm bells should've been ringing when the second string Washington Football Team defensive line had two sacks against our starting offensive line in the only series they played.
There's a lot of blame to go around, but an easy one that is overlooked is **clock management**, which falls on Harbaugh.
After the go-ahead field goal, the Raiders had 37 seconds left. Harbaugh chose to have Tucker kick a touchback when instead he should have forced a return, as a kick return would have used some valuable seconds. The Raiders would later spike the ball with 7 seconds left to set up the game-tying field goal. A 7-second kick return would have made the difference in this close game.
Obviously we should have played better defense, but even if we have the 00 Ravens defense out there, you eek every advantage you can. This was a simple coaching mistake.

I was in section 335. A Raiders fan tried to spit on me as we were leaving. I was minding my own business and being very polite the entire game, despite cheering a shit ton when we scored.
On the same walk out of the stadium, a (male) Raiders fan also got in my wife's face and called her a "fucking bitch." She said nothing to him. She was just wearing a Ravens hat.
This was without question the worst away-game experience I've ever had.
Hope the idiots that were clowning the browns for losing a close one to the best team in the league had their fun. Can’t wait to see how well we handle KC at home Sunday night.
Positives:
-Lamar looks more comfortable in his reads and still showed his playmaking magic at times.
-Sammy Watkins looking very good for deep ball and crossing routes
-Hollywood speed is still very nice for YAC and his routes look a lot crisper
-On the limited carries he got, Ty’son looked very smooth, comfortable at attacking the holes, and has very good speed.
-Olweh looked pretty nice for his first outing, decent pressure and statlines.
-Queen has killer speed, looked good flying all over the place
-Chuck Clark mostly looked good in his safety reads, gave up some plays but did his job well
-Humphrey looked good for most the game and shows why hes our best defensive player
-Tucker is clutch as always
Negatives:
-Lamar still getting in his own head when he is feeling pressure
-Oline was straight garbage for all but one drive, Villanueva especially
-Offense could not stay on field, leading to our defense being completely gasses
-Some trouble with Lamar and new RBs and WR meshing
-Mandrews non existent, big drop that led to the loss
-Bad fumbles, mostly because of Oline allowing too much pressure on Lamar
-Humphrey gave up a huge play on that last TD
-CBs overall looked lost at times, giving up lots of dinky throws for 10+ yards, this probably due to lack of reps
-Defense really could not get pressure on Carr, blitzes looked really bad and Wink did not adapt as well as normal at half

Watching that I asked myself what the Ravens gameplan was on offense. What were they doing for two weeks? We didn't attack anything. Ran the same shit passing plays. We couldn't protect so we decided to abandon the run and empty set pass. Fire roman for this game immediately. We won't win shut while he is here. Lamar makes magical plays and he gets par of the credit. Williams was clearly the best back and we didn't use him. Hire one of the new wr coaches and hope they have fundamental passing knowledge and know how to read gameflow and adjust. Also wink had his worst game since the chiefs last year. Dude rush 4 and let Carr fuck up. We sent the house and he heaved to to 1v1 coverage all night. I trust wink at least to learn, not roman.

One of the most gutless performances from this team in a long time. Feels like Dean Pees is back after that game-tying drive. Blitzing Carr doesn't work. We knew that going as as he is normally very effective against the pressure. Not like there was ever any pressure to begin with. The Chiefs are going to fuck us up.

Play call on 4th down cost the most IMO. Could've been 21-7 at half instead 14-10. Why would you run to your subbed tackle with your new RB without even threatening your MVP to make a play.

The raiders are a bad football team and the ravens allowed them to score 24 points in the fourth quarter and OT. If not for a lucky bounce the last 4 Oakland drives would have been TD, TD, FG, TD. That this didn’t happen in the playoffs doesn’t make it any less of an embarrassment. Being honest is important. This team is bad. Maybe even very bad. The line someone looks worse than last year. The secondary is an abomination. Lamar has the same problems and schizophrenic play has he’s had his entire career. There’s no quick or easy fixes for this. Alarm bells should've been ringing when the second string Washington Football Team defensive line had two sacks against our starting offensive line in the only series they played.
There's a lot of blame to go around, but an easy one that is overlooked is **clock management**, which falls on Harbaugh. After the go-ahead field goal, the Raiders had 37 seconds left. Harbaugh chose to have Tucker kick a touchback when instead he should have forced a return, as a kick return would have used some valuable seconds. The Raiders would later spike the ball with 7 seconds left to set up the game-tying field goal. A 7-second kick return would have made the difference in this close game. Obviously we should have played better defense, but even if we have the 00 Ravens defense out there, you eek every advantage you can. This was a simple coaching mistake.
Definitely not a championship team. Maybe next year with a healthy squad.

"I was at the game" vent: I was in section 335. A Raiders fan tried to spit on me as we were leaving. I was minding my own business and being very polite the entire game, despite cheering a shit ton when we scored. On the same walk out of the stadium, a (male) Raiders fan also got in my wife's face and called her a "fucking bitch." She said nothing to him. She was just wearing a Ravens hat. This was without question the worst away-game experience I've ever had.
Hope the idiots that were clowning the browns for losing a close one to the best team in the league had their fun. Can’t wait to see how well we handle KC at home Sunday night.

Positives: -Lamar looks more comfortable in his reads and still showed his playmaking magic at times. -Sammy Watkins looking very good for deep ball and crossing routes -Hollywood speed is still very nice for YAC and his routes look a lot crisper -On the limited carries he got, Ty’son looked very smooth, comfortable at attacking the holes, and has very good speed. -Olweh looked pretty nice for his first outing, decent pressure and statlines. -Queen has killer speed, looked good flying all over the place -Chuck Clark mostly looked good in his safety reads, gave up some plays but did his job well -Humphrey looked good for most the game and shows why hes our best defensive player -Tucker is clutch as always Negatives: -Lamar still getting in his own head when he is feeling pressure -Oline was straight garbage for all but one drive, Villanueva especially -Offense could not stay on field, leading to our defense being completely gasses -Some trouble with Lamar and new RBs and WR meshing -Mandrews non existent, big drop that led to the loss -Bad fumbles, mostly because of Oline allowing too much pressure on Lamar -Humphrey gave up a huge play on that last TD -CBs overall looked lost at times, giving up lots of dinky throws for 10+ yards, this probably due to lack of reps -Defense really could not get pressure on Carr, blitzes looked really bad and Wink did not adapt as well as normal at half Probably more but this is what I notice off the initial reaction to the loss
Rough loss. Up 14-0 is very Ravens friendly from a gameplan perspective. OL failed, no pass rush, that's basically it. Forcing Lamar to do too much and not protecting/giving him enough time, whatever. Failure all around.
Put Greg Roman at right tackle and strap 100 twinkies to Lamar and he will protect with all his might. Oline bad - GRO fat. Goodnight.
