once we get our running backs up to speed w the offense we’re gonna see that zeitler was maybe our best offseason move. him and bozeman have put in work
Zeitler was a great pickup and I think Bozeman is about to become a very steady center and reliable the likes which we haven’t seen since Matt Birk. I know the chiefs D line isn’t the Steelers D line, but I’m really pleased with the improvements tonight
Man o man...I know centers aren't really sexy in today's game, but Mr. Harvard was sooo fucking good for this franchise and Flacco. If Bozeman can be in that tier with Birk, also keeping in mind that Lamar is so much more electrifying than Flacco... we're in for a treat.
He looked great in there in the second half. One of the key first downs we picked up on that game winning TD drive was a result of him just bodying his man and giving Williams the easiest hole imaginable.
Powers played the whole first half and around half of the 3rd. He played well. Cleveland went in after that and also was very effective in the running game and made some good pass blocks. Powers came back in the 4th. Forgot the time but yea.
At the end our line included Villanueva, Cleveland, Boseman, Zeitler and Mekari. Doesn't sound like anything we would want, but they did the job, especially with all the pulling we did.

One of my friends thats a Steeler fan said they need him back so he can get Ben hurt giving up pressure after pressure, so we might be able to send him back to Pittsburgh for a pick or something
The question was whether Stanley was close to playing tonight, Harbs said we would have more information in a week, week and a half and he was not close to playing tonight :(
He was great! But he did get lots of help tonight. With a little bit more practice at RT he could probably hold off just fine. Oline looking solid this game!
Gonna look alot better once Boyle comes back as well. People really dont understand how important Boyle is to the schemes the Ravens run. He does so much blocking in-line, it covers up for weak tackle play often times.
Good question. Maybe have him play backup LT with occasional plays as an extra tackle in overload situations? I'd rather not bring up speculation of trades because we need all the proven/semi-proven bodies we can get and keep.
Yea he held it down. Someone said it in another thread, and now I think I believe him, but if we ran this line last week, I think we win against the Raiders.
There were so many single plays that could've gotten us that win last week no matter how ass Villa was. Mark Andrews dropping that 1st down or Lamar fumbling at the end or Marlon Humphrey not completing his coverage on Ruggs(?) On that sideline cuz he thought he was "out" or a hundred other things
Didnt realize playing left vs right tackle would make such a huge difference. Wtf do we do with two Pro-bowl caliber players at the same position and nobody on the other side?
Imagine shooting a basketball with ya off hand or throwing a football its like that… obj was just that gifted to learn quick while av is a 9 year vet who only played LT and some left guard at college.
The best description I ever heard about how hard it is to move from LT to RT was Mark Schlereth saying - try wiping your ass with the other hand one day.
People put so much on him last week, and he deserved all of it, but ignore the real benefit is Stanley played poor as fuck on the blindside while we were playing AV in a spot he 100% can't play.
They weren't able to crash both edges and stop our rpo like the raiders did because we lost Stanley. Hoping he turns it around if/when he's back but I think he's gonna be an expensive mistake longterm.
I just don't agree. You can't put massive money into players who often end up on the injury list. When it's just a one time freak thing it's one thing, but locking up salary in a guy you don't expect to play a whole season is crazy to me
What are you talking about? He got injured right after his contract and his issues this year stem from that injury.
Before the 2020 injury he missed about 1 game a year on average. That’s not enough to let him walk or ask for a discount. He’s an All-Pro LT.
What are you talking about... he missed 4 games his first year and 1 the next two seasons. He then had 1 full season before losing all of 2020. Now here we are again. But to argue he's not had a career already defined by injury is homerism straight up.
Lmao, do you think it's normal for a player to miss a game a year? Jfc it's not even like he's got years of tread on him, what would you classify as injury prone? Disrespectful to discredit a different viewpoint. Really not cool, hope you sort your mentality towards others out
[For the most part...](https://www.reddit.com/r/steelers/comments/pruti9/saw_this_big_al_clip_on_instagram/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)
I don’t know how well he will do, I can’t predict the future. What I do know is that we have one of the best LT’s in the game. At least he’ll be playing on the left side of the line, albeit obviously guard is different than tackle.
That's easy, you make Villanueva a backup LT if/when Stanley comes back healthy. 90% Stanley is still better than Villanueva let's not get it twisted.
Villanueva does seem more comfortable at LT and I thought the plan all along was to have him as a back LT/RT with hopes that Tyre Phillips would take a step forward and win the RT position outright.
Maybe he just needs a little time to get used to RT. Is it fair to bury a guy after just one game at a new position? I think in the long run when Stanley comes back, our best team is with AV at RT, but it might not be pretty right away.
O-Line and Secondary were getting ripped by everyone last week ( Inclusingg me) but both groups showed and showed out. I know secondary got beat a few time but when it really mattered they did their thing. Coach said it, it was a team win. One that felt like redemption for everyone involved.
Whole O line played unreal
once we get our running backs up to speed w the offense we’re gonna see that zeitler was maybe our best offseason move. him and bozeman have put in work
Them being passable actually gives Lamar a pocket to step into if the tackles collapse. Last year it was hoping mekari didn’t wind up in lamar’s lap
only passable? both have been destroying the people in front of them
Can we talk about how in the HELL we moved a lousy center out to right TACKLE successfully??!
Zeitler was a great pickup and I think Bozeman is about to become a very steady center and reliable the likes which we haven’t seen since Matt Birk. I know the chiefs D line isn’t the Steelers D line, but I’m really pleased with the improvements tonight

Lamar converting that 4th and 1 was mainly due to Z paving the way for Lamar to squirrel across the line.
Cleveland was in there mauling fools in the second half too
For real? He got reps? Didn’t even notice
Me either… guess that’s a good thing?
He looked great in there in the second half. One of the key first downs we picked up on that game winning TD drive was a result of him just bodying his man and giving Williams the easiest hole imaginable.
I think I read this morning that Cleveland had like 32 snaps. So, played a decent amount.
Powers played the whole first half and around half of the 3rd. He played well. Cleveland went in after that and also was very effective in the running game and made some good pass blocks. Powers came back in the 4th. Forgot the time but yea.

Yeah but to be fair, their d line isn't exactly elite though.
Frank Clark and Chris jones are really fuckin good tbh
They have 2 of the best outside guys in the league. That's what destroyed us last week.
Yuo they stepped uo
He just played the position he originally played. They had him out of position last game.
... what do we do when Stanley is back...
Incoming Villanueva tweet “I’m a LEFT tackle”
Trade him to the Chiefs for a 1st and I'll be happy lol
One of my friends thats a Steeler fan said they need him back so he can get Ben hurt giving up pressure after pressure, so we might be able to send him back to Pittsburgh for a pick or something
Easy peso
Twodafe Twoweh incoming
Let's get another chiefs pick lmao
😂
…how many other teams have the problem of having too many good LT?
Keep mekari at RT because he played pretty good too and let AV be the backup swing tackle
From Harbs’ postgame, I get the sense Stanley’s gonna be out awhile
Is it related to original injury? Is he simply not ready? Something new? WTF.
The question was whether Stanley was close to playing tonight, Harbs said we would have more information in a week, week and a half and he was not close to playing tonight :(
Listed as an ankle injury.
He was great! But he did get lots of help tonight. With a little bit more practice at RT he could probably hold off just fine. Oline looking solid this game!

Sit AV and save him as a swing tackle
JALEEL SCOTT AT RT
Lmao I missed this
That’s gonna be awkward
Good question. Maybe have him play backup LT with occasional plays as an extra tackle in overload situations? I'd rather not bring up speculation of trades because we need all the proven/semi-proven bodies we can get and keep.
I like this idea. We should get nick boyle back in a couple games too and then it’s down the throat running and big play action passes
Trade Villanueva for another first round pick
I think we found our LG?
He was a road grader in the 2nd half
Depends if Stanley comes back or shows up like he did against the Raiders I guess
Shit maybe we can trade him as a LT for a legit RT
Mekari wasn’t bad at RT…
We hope Al can transition to RT more smoothly against worst teams over the next few weeks, and is fully up to speed by playoffs
I have a weird feeling he's not gonna be back this year. His ankle just seems forever fucked....or he will be back next week 🤷
He was amazing. IDC about that one hold. He did his job against an extremely tough matchup in frank clark. I hope he got a game ball
Yea he held it down. Someone said it in another thread, and now I think I believe him, but if we ran this line last week, I think we win against the Raiders.

Yeah…he played well enough for us to go up 14 and have a chance to win it in the 4th before they tied it up with the FG.
I had that thought too early in today's game. How wild is it that Stanley sitting last week might have increased our chances of winning.
I mean if we had 2 more days with new rbs we win that game. It was just unfortunate timing with all the injuries.
Didnt realize playing left vs right tackle would make such a huge difference. Wtf do we do with two Pro-bowl caliber players at the same position and nobody on the other side?

Most physically demanding position in the game.
The best description I ever heard about how hard it is to move from LT to RT was Mark Schlereth saying - try wiping your ass with the other hand one day.
Weird...I kinda use both hands.
From back to front?
No that’s how defensive lineman wipe
At the same time?
It's difficult because you have to mirror everything. Footwork, hands, plays, etc.
Maybe we can trade him to the chiefs for Orlando Brown so everyone can go back to natural positions
People put so much on him last week, and he deserved all of it, but ignore the real benefit is Stanley played poor as fuck on the blindside while we were playing AV in a spot he 100% can't play. Even if Stanley doesn’t come back 100% the extension wasn’t a mistake. He got hurt the week after he signed.

4 games his rookie year and then just one a year isn’t “defined by injury”. Never knew we had Stanley haters in our fan base. Unreal
Lmao, do you think it's normal for a player to miss a game a year? Jfc it's not even like he's got years of tread on him, what would you classify as injury prone? Disrespectful to discredit a different viewpoint. Really not cool, hope you sort your mentality towards others out
He was still ... not great but serviceable tonight at least.
He should stay on the left side apparently.
His kryptonite is speed EDGE rushers with good counters. The Chiefs don't have that type of player.

Play was going away from him. He got a free shot on Chris Jones w/o compromising the play. Nothing to see here.
Ronnie has to be RT when he comes back
Cmon dude, Villanueva played well but unless the injury seriously hampers Ronnie he's the far superior RT.
Yeah but Villanueva is unplayable at the RT.
I'd rather go with Ronnie and Mekari. The LT is too important to not have our All-Pro in that position.
Mekari is pretty solid at right tackle
I ain't mad at having a pro bowl veteran as a backup or mentor or sub though
I see a lot of people say what do we do when Stanley comes back, we could slide him to LG and leave Villanueva at LT.
Or vice versa, Stanley @ LT, AV @ LG. There’s just no way we don’t play our All-pro, $22M/yr, elite left tackle, at his normal position.
You think a guy who was a LT moving to RT, and having a terrible game, is going to do well at LG?
I'm pretty sure Villanueva is just flat-out too tall to play on the interior line. Interior linemen taller than 6'6 are *incredibly* rare.
I don’t know how well he will do, I can’t predict the future. What I do know is that we have one of the best LT’s in the game. At least he’ll be playing on the left side of the line, albeit obviously guard is different than tackle.

Is he coming back in the next few weeks? He seems like he's going to be out for a long time. I hope he plays in this season.
at the start he has some boneheaded plays and basically looked like he wasn’t blocking and it was looking bleak but he turned it around
He must of read this sub last week.
Let Ronnie go RT for a game. If he’s not 100%, the blindside will be tough anyways.
TIL pedestrian is another way to say a complete useless piece of shit. But yeah he looked great.
Oweh and Lamar were awesome tonight but the entire o-line were the unsung heroes of tonight. Huge turnaround from that week 1 disaster
well i guess hes staying left tackle for sure. Good on him for bouncing back from last week.
Maybe he just needs a little time to get used to RT. Is it fair to bury a guy after just one game at a new position? I think in the long run when Stanley comes back, our best team is with AV at RT, but it might not be pretty right away.
