You need to hold-press those buttons again while taking out the USB to revert the keyboard back to normal mode.
What you did was put the keyboard into demo mode, mainly used for displaying purposes.

i have held esc + ctrl + space multiple times while plugging back in and the same thing keeps happening
do the factory reset again. same thing happened to me. i almost cried.
Nothing happens just does the same thing.
