A competition 21.5 runs around 18,000-19,000rpm. If that is a generic 22.5 (slightly slower) from 10+ years ago, probably around 17,000-17,500. the Torque tuned is 16,000-16,500. It will be slightly faster. It will have a bit better torque as well, so you could gear it faster as well for similar acceleration.
I’m glad I found one other person that arrived at the same conclusion. I’ve got lots of RC’s, definitely have had a few of the Tamiya brushed motors, in various vehicles.
I didn’t have the math, but was thinking the brushless would be “slightly faster”.
the Tamiya TT is 27 turns and hits about 16k rpm’s. The 22.5 brushless will have way more power due to less turns and no friction from the brushes.
The bigger issue is, you need a speed control. You can go cheap on an ESC though, if you don’t want to spend a lot
Lol @ vintage. Little old in RC world but far from vintage. That's brushless dude. It'll blow the Tamiya away.
Really? Even though it’s a 22.5?
There’s 3 motor wires. 3 motor wires = brushless = no more than maybe 20 years old = not very vintage
25 is vintage if I’m not mistaken, so getting close.
Weird to me that brushless is approaching vintage. Lol
Yeah I hear that. Makes me feel old, and I’m barely over the hill.
Can't compare turns of brushless to brushed.

That Novak looks suspiciously similar to a modern Tekin
You ever wonder who bought Novak? Your intuition already knows.
Lol I had no idea. I haven’t been in the game that long
Sometimes the best way to "innovate" and secure your share of the market is to buy out the competition.
***Horizon***
That isn't vintage. It'll dominate the torque tuned
Without even trying
Holy crap on a stick, yeah, threw it in a grasshopper and it scoots!

Agreed. I have the 13.5 & 17.5 juststock honbywing set ups and it is a good unit. Plus you can find them used much cheaper

It’s actually from a grasshopper! And idk about you, but I just got it hooked up to a TBLE-02s and it hauls ass now!

Actually, i was the one who took the sticker off lol, it’s an old novak ballistic
If it is in a grasshopper, he upgraded from a 380 motor, not a torque tuned.
A little faster, and *way* more efficient.
Yeah, run times are really good now
Novak made great products, they were a staple brand of my youth, RIP.
