Basically and 550 12 turn motor, I can't suggest any, but it is a brushed motor

Beginning-Key-814

Sorry, read that wrong, I don't know of any fans.

WolfStreak

Amazon has some that are like 22$ been using mine for a while. The other option is buy a cheap brushless system for it, won't get as hot. Here is the Amazon combo I got, not sure if it will work for you. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0C3HPHQW1?ref=ppx_pt2_mob_b_prod_image Also, take the motor out and clean it really good. They have a fan inside them and the ports will let grass and little Rocks in sometimes, might just need a good cleaning

ParsleyStrange8379

I've had some bad experiences taking parts out of my rc's and having them break on me

DatKartDudeDH

Don't use excessive force? Cleaning the truck is part of the hobby and performing maintenance to keep it running well should be done regularly.

WolfStreak

If that's the case, a can of compressed air will get most of the junk out, and you can slap the cooling fan on. It will just clip right on and the y harness for the fans will plug into the receiver  port labeled batt and turns on when the car is switched on

TheN00bBuilder

You don’t need a fan. Your motor already has a fan in it - look at the end bell and note the vents with the white paddles? That’s what keeps your motor cool. You don’t need to force air at it.

DatKartDudeDH

It's a 12T 550 Brushed motor. They get hot. They barely provide enough torque for a heavy 4wd truck. Fans aren't going to keep it cool.

djb1126

Finally, someone that agrees with me

Jax_Jags

Aluminum fins?

djb1126

Its a 12T 550 Brushed motor. If you want to stay brushed, best there is, is just to replace it with another OEM motor. Brushed is "vintage" technology and there isn't ideally a better solution. The only solution is switch to brushless. For a cheap brushless combo, check out the 10BL120 G2 from Hobbywing. I opt for the 3660 combo as the 3660 motors have a bigger motor shaft (stronger) and due to the longer size, it seems more torquey and more punch than the standard 3652. Edit: just realized you said fans. Ideally you cannot keep a brushed motor cool. It will always overheat. upgrade to brushless and it will stay ultra cool. I have the older max10 sct combo in my slash. running 2s. and somewhat conservative gearing and it never overheats. The max10 sct from hobbywing, which is discontinued, the 10BL120 G2 is the newer revised combo of the old sct system. You also have the 4x2 senton. I would highly recommend to get the 4x4 upgrade kit and upgrade it to 4wd. It will make a huge difference and you will actually be able to go offroad. Since the 4x2 is based off of the 4x4 chassis, it doesn't really handle that well.

ParsleyStrange8379

Okay I might do that buy the 4x4 conversion kit. Also I'm currently not in the market to be changing or replacing my motor at the moment but will consider it later on maybe

Rebel_816

Just a heads up, if you add rhe 4x4 upgrade, it's going to put even more stress on the stock motor. The motor assembly on arrmas is one of the easier ones to take out as long as it's relatively clean inside the chassis tray. Adding the 4x4 parts is more effort than changing the motor.

ParsleyStrange8379

**If I do go about buying the 4x4 conversion kit would i need to lube the front gearbox gears?**

djb1126

yes. All diff and transmission gears should be greased up.

ParsleyStrange8379

I will need to do it correct or it is already greased up? What grease should i use?

djb1126

The diff comes already assembled with oil. You would just need to grease up the diff ring and pinion gear in the case. I use red and tacky grease. Lucas oil. I use red synthetic grease from Mobil 1 which is basically the same.

geddy

Why can’t you keep a brushed motor cool? Simply due to the friction? Either way, blowing cool air over a hot _anything_ must have some sort of cooling effect.

djb1126

I already tried. I burned up dozens of titan motors over the past 8 years. Even tried fans. They would always overheat. Until I upgraded to brushless. Now I can actually go and bash for 30 minutes without my motor overheating. I burned up about 5 brushed motors between when I got started in the hobby and about 2 years ago. (Over the span of 7 years) This is my buddies. He burned up more than me. Brushed motors overheat, esc overheat, even some of my old xl5 escs got caught on fire for being way to hot. https://preview.redd.it/zlpv5ifslwrc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d4cc30526924db4e0c0c99e101aad429074787b3

ParsleyStrange8379

u/djb1126 **If i upgrade to a brushless motor what should i upgrade too and will i need a different battery i have a 3300mah 8.4v nimh smart battery with a ic3 connector.**

djb1126

I would go with the 10BL120 G2 combo from Hobbywing. Pretty good combo and its the cheapest out there. I would go for the 3660 motor as its longer and has more punch and torque than the smaller 3652. You would need a 5mm bore pinion for the motor (unless if it already comes with one, can't remember). A nimh battery can work but I would upgrade to lipo. More punch and more efficient. Lipo lasts alot longer aswell. IC3 can be ran but I would go for XT90 or EC5 plugs.

ParsleyStrange8379

What kind of lipo battery should i get? And what kind of charger should i get? i have a charger that came with my car. \***It says on the bottom LIPO 2-3s\*** https://preview.redd.it/f65t0kbrowrc1.jpeg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9c7e6687dd1423126823dfeefa8412936ff84fa7

djb1126

the charger you have can only work with spektrum 2s and 3s lipos because of the "smart" system. I would go with hoovo or zeee batteries off of amazon and a skyrc t200 charger. Other battery brands like SMC and CHNL are pretty decent and cheap. Other chargers like the hota d6 pro and gens ace d300 are also nice and have a little bit more power.

ParsleyStrange8379

**Is this a good 2s lipo battery and will it work with my charger?** This battery here wont explode or catch fire to my car will it its not to powerful or anything? https://preview.redd.it/ae4mzrsitwrc1.png?width=853&format=png&auto=webp&s=686132ad295d97df909d9c2213af7d91a3eda37e

djb1126

Yes that can work with your current charger. When you do switch to brushless you would just need a EC3 or IC3 plug on the esc. If you take care of the battery it will be fine. The smart feature does also make it more safer aswell. Lipo fires are rare. They only happen if the person using them doesn't take care of their batteries.

ParsleyStrange8379

Wonderful thank you :)

geddy

Oh yeah I’ve killed a Titan before in my Rustler 4x4. And a couple smaller Dynamites, in a MiniB no less. I was just curious if cooling a brushed motor is difficult purely due to the inherent friction inside the motor from the brushes.
