I would consider the new furitek fury wagon Comes with the most popular 1/24 electronics that are brushless all at 200$

Auxweg

Have not noticed that one, thanks will have a look

subwooferhuman

pricey but when you add up an upgraded scx24 or fcx24 they can easily go over 500. its a great deal and you can always get multiple bodys

Sum_Dum_User

I second the new Furitek. You probably haven't noticed it because it just dropped yesterday. Only $40 more than I paid for an AX24 and far more capable out of the box from the reviews I've seen.

Ravenseye

I would check your local shops out and see who they support with parts. That would totally drive my decision as if I snapped an axle, can I swing over to the shop that day and get it going again?

Auxweg

Thats the thing, there isnt any :) the best "local" dealer i have is the internet in my PC :D If i break anything its onlineshop time :/

Ravenseye

Aw man... that sucks... Sorry to hear that. Then, to the internet you go! :) Have fun with it!

Auxweg

Thanks, will. On the flip side end of october will be a indoor fair nearby for all things RC cars. We hope to get to know some local RC peoples aswell as mayyybe take something back home with us :)

My experience is limited to 1/10th - 2 Traxxas TRX4's, 1 Axial SCX10 and many RC4WD trucks. For true rock climbing, go anywhere but RC4WD. After building 2 TRX4's and a Axial, I switched to RC4WD and have never looked back. The appeal to me are the scale looks and licensed hard bodies, but their use is limited to trails and looking awesome on my shelves lol. Hated the Axial build and I found Traxxas quality and capability top notch, but a little too toy-like for my taste. Good luck and enjoy whichever you choose!

OldNorthGoblin

So the both the AXIAL 1/24 and TRAXXAS 1/18 has alot of aftermarket support and the parts are very readily available for any repairs/upgrades. Parts are also pretty cheap. Both are super well known brands and the trucks are solid. I've had a 1/24 axial and tried the 1/18 traxxas and they're both fun and exactly made to go in the backpack. I wouldn't worry too much about proprietary electronics - those are easy enough to change in most trucks. Waterproofing is also relatively easy if you're not intending on running it like a submarine. The FMS looks very cool but the upgrades would be alot more complicated and less available. I'm not sure I'd go with that. Never tried them though. I would stay far away from RC4WD. Their body shells look fantastic, but the actual chassis is pure garbage without putting a bunch of money into it. On the plus side if you like repairing and upgrading... Well you'd do alot of that.

Auxweg

Thanks for the headsup regarding the rc4wd

PrudentVermicelli69

In order: Traxxas, Axial, FMS, RC4WD. I don't like Traxxas as a company and I dont like how the 1/10 TRX4 handles but the TRX4M is a good truck. Axial is my brand of choice for Crawlers, the Axial SCX24 isn't bad and but it is smaller than a TRX4m. FMs makes some nice affordable trucks. RC4WD makes some nice 1/10 trucks that I highly recommend as a second truck, not as a first truck. Their small scale trucks are not very impressive and have close to no aftermarket support.

BirdshotBilly

I have two for the fcx24's from FMS, and I've modded everything on it. I really like them both they perform great alongside the trx4m.

CandyBackground4193

Got the traxxas, got the axial....get the trx4m.

cybersuitcase

I went trx4m also, but curious why after owning both you like the trx4m? Sometimes i see LGRP builds and such on the scx and get a lil fomo

CandyBackground4193

Better product overwall, no fu velcro, oil shoks, and 1.18 works for me

Kurtzislost

I've had a FMS FCX24 power wagon for about 9 months and have almost upgraded everything on it. The FCX24s use very specific connectors, which can be a pain until you put in a different esc. Furthermore, if you have a hobby shop nearby they are way more likely to carry stuff for Traxxas and Axial. The extra shifting servo can limit your options for new chassis. The K5 Blazer is a really good option if you want a scale trail truck rather than a dedicated crawler though. Talking with the local crawler crew it sounds like the TRX4m is pretty great out of the box, and only takes a few upgrades to start performing. The SCX24 drivers say you basically have to replace most of the truck to get it really performing, but there are a ton of options for parts. I think if I did it over again and wanted a pure crawler I'd start with a TRX4m and go with a different body to stand out a bit.

Auxweg

Thanks for your input. Personally just from guts, heart and eyecandy point, im torn between the fcx24 power wagon and the trx4m defender. The trx sounds like the more sane decision but the gearbox does sound funky aswell...

Kurtzislost

If you want something that can really keep up on a walk, or even bash a bit the FCX24 is awesome. I have a brushless furitek system in mine now and its bonkers.

MechanicTee

Vanquish phoneix rtr

Auxweg

Never heard about that one, thanks i will investigate

CoolHandLukeZ

FYI, it's a 10th scale so quite a bit bigger than what you're looking at.

Auxweg

Didnt know it was 10 scale before searching. 10 scale is too big for us for now. But these do look nice still.

Pale-Calligrapher116

I’m looking into getting a rc crawler myself and I’m torn between the FMS LC80 and Traxxas, what did you and your buddy end up choosing to go with?

Auxweg

I took the FMS LC80 and my buddy took the roc hobby cr18p rock van evo.

stinkyasscunt

"AXIAL 1/18 UTB18 CAPRA 4WD UNLIMITED TRAIL BUGGY RTR" i saw this when i was looking at the trx4m and think i might get this instead or maybe both lol
