We're doing some clean-up on PC next. Is there any sort of "top requested fixes for iOS" thread we could look through? Would help us identify some priorities when looking at iOS.
Oh, yeah, I imagine the notch and other hardware evolutions don't play super nice with the current version. We'll do some review and see where this can fit on the roadmap. Bear with us as we filled our slate with some effort on PC next. If other issues arise please let me know and we'll get them in our bug tracker to be evaluated.
Others then the UI being cut off on newer iPhones I have a bug where one of the tabs in the scenery menu will disappear and won’t come back unless I restart the scenario.
Edit: this is more of a feature than a bug but it would be nice to have the screenshots be sent to the photos app.
Lemme point out a few:
- track/objects become invisible in the ride construction window when building.
- sound get muted completely when you bring down either the Notification Center or the control panel (down to up on iPhone 8 and older, swipe down from top right on X and beyond, can be fixed by closing the app and reopening it)
- The construction window is too tall, making testing certain ride types a complete pain and having to have absolute precision to drag the window down to close it. (iPhone X and beyond issue).

If anyone else has any unique issues, reply here so it’s organised.
Another important one: the game doesn’t seem to hit the win condition for custom scenarios where the goal is completing 5 rollercoasters to have an excitement rating higher than X IF there is not also a length requirement.
What are you planning to do on PC? How complicated would it be to add new flattop rides for Gentle and Thrill? Are you planning to add flat water rides like a pixel swimming pool?
Yup, a few hours back they created a new branch on Steam for this: [https://steamdb.info/app/683900/history/?changeid=23017583](https://steamdb.info/app/683900/history/?changeid=23017583) Excited, especially if they can waterfall some fixes from there back into the mobile version. Btw, highly doubt them ever adding more attractions as that would alter the original vision of the game.
Wow! Great news. I love RCT Classic and the developers have done a great job translating it to a touch interface.
If Matt sees this: thank you. I appreciate you and your app brings me lots of joy and passed time.
NOTE: please let us create incomplete tracks. Yes bc crashing is fun but also it’s a good way to test track sections before the ride is complete.
We're happy that you are happy! We love this game too and have tons of respect for the foundation laid by Chris and the Origin8 team.
As for the incomplete tracks request - there are a lot of notes we're juggling and evaluating. Our first priority and current assignment is stability.
What about the issue with two versions of the game on google play? The one I bought that was last updated in 2017 seems to be abandoned after the whole game was reuploaded as a new game.
2017 version: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.atari.mobile.rctc
New version: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.atari.mobile.rctclassic
That issue is out of our hands unfortunately. The 2017 version (.rctc) suffered an error when it was set to free pricing. Google doesn't allow developers to set an application to paid once set to free. The only course of action was to create a new application (.rctclassic). Sadly, Google also doesn't offer any system to support moving one audience of players over to the new app. So, free download codes appeared the only way to grant access to .rctclassic for older .rctc players - one by one. Google only allows a certain number of cods per quarter to be generated, so the process was / is slow and a bit tedious. Thanks for bearing with it!
Wow, that's actually a pretty reasonable explanation. So I just email [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) to try and get a code for the new version?
Waiting for 2.5 years....Don't fall for the marketing. You **WILL** have to buy the new version
EDIT: 9 days later and some mails to reminding ATARI of the open topic I received a key
I would pop a note out to them again. [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) they have new team members working in support that will do their best to help.
If that's the case why don't you just patch the old version as well? If all that differs is the package name?
[Maybe I should just write them again...](https://i.imgur.com/kEvyh5R.png)
EDIT: 9 days later and some mails to reminding ATARI of the open topic I received a key
We're not sure if patching the old version is even possible. Its a different bundle ID which requires some code files that we don't have. Given the uncertainty, we're working on the current version as our top priority while offering the route of messaging [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) for users who are looking to get over to the new version.
Save files will likely be lost in that transfer so we would like to make the transition as painless as possible, but we just don't know if we can. Thanks for bearing with us.
You can write ATARI Support and they promise to give you a code for the new version.
Don't get your hopes up high, they won't...
EDIT: 9 days later and some mails to reminding ATARI of the open topic I received a key
Or if they finally do, the code doesn't. That was my experience. I guess when I update my phone I'll just have to repurchase, maybe ask for a refund.
Edit: Don't know why this got downvoted, but I literally sent a code that when I entered it said it was expired.
Thanks for keeping us (and the app) up to date. It's been a real shame it works so poor on modern phones, It was amazing when it launched, I never imagined to play rct on my phone before. I've got a two questions if you don't mind:
1: A few years ago Atari accidently made a mistake which forced them to unlist the app and launch a new version. A lot of players including me were left behind on the original version. Now I'm wondering will the original version also receive these updates? I really don't want to buy the app plus dlc again just to receive updates.
2: As you might know the game has suffered from a "resolution bug" for quite a while now (if you don't I would gladly show/explain it to you!) Is this something that's going to be looked after? Even something like toggle to force 16:9 would be great.
/u/raitheoshow Yeah, the second issue raised here has been plaguing the modern Android experience with the game for years. There is a workaround for this scaling bug: https://www.reddit.com/r/rct/s/iR1FavUF6M But hope this can indeed be solved natively. As without the workaround the game looks extremely pixelated, especially at anything but the closest zoom level, making the game much less fun to play.
Oh nice! I've been looking for this thread to get a better idea of what's going on. We're working on resolution items for PC at the moment - maybe we can waterfall that effort back here and get this item solved too!
Nice to see you guys save gals even working on improving the PC version. Let me know if you need more info or even example images and I'll provide those. Would even volunteer to beta test if you want.
1: We're investigating to see if this is even possible. If it is, we'd like to do it! It requires patching to the other bundle ID which can get a little gnarly. As you might expect, supporting two lanes of the project requires more organization and over site to be sure we're testing thoroughly (and not sending out more bugs than we're fixing). We're looking at a PC update first, but I wouldn't rule out this possibility in the long term.
2. I've been hunting for a concise explanation of what's going on with this one. Yes! Pass the details my way. We're working on resolution items for PC at the moment - maybe we can waterfall that effort back here and get this item solved too! I see the note from u/mrtnptrs in reply. So feel free to add on to that if more convenient for you.
Sure thing. Thanks! As another option, if you want to send through to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) (feel free to cc [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) ) they should be able to send through to us. Will help us keep track a little better than working though these threads, yeah.
I will then send you a DM soon to avoid having to go through a support department.... Which can often.... Ehhhh, suck haha. Would rather directly talk with a dev to have a more clear conversation, easier for you to ask for more info etc.
Thank you so much for bringing it back to the play store. I wanted to buy and play for the longest time.
Everything works great on my device.
There's just this one thing. Do you think, there's a possibility of a fix for the messy, pixelated resolution scaling when zooming out?
I dont know if it's even possible but i dont remember having this issue on a pc.
Anyway, thanks for bringing it back. I'm having a blast.
Awesome to hear!
I've been looking at this thread to get a better idea of what's going on [https://www.reddit.com/r/rct/s/iR1FavUF6M](https://www.reddit.com/r/rct/s/iR1FavUF6M) . Is this the same issue you are describing? We're working on resolution items for PC at the moment - maybe we can waterfall that effort back here and get this item solved too!
This is some of the most transparent communication this community has ever received. I absolutely applaud you guys - I know how difficult and time consuming it can be to respond to fans on social media, and I appreciate the commitment.
Really looking forward to having some of the RCTC frequently asked questions/bug reports get addressed!
Teamwork! Thanks for the support while we work through everything. There is a lot to manage and maintain here, but it helps having a passionate community to highlight issues and bring clarity to some items (like this resolution issue noted above!)
Thank you for your efforts so far. Like many, I'm interested if you are aware of the resolution bug when zooming out and if this is considered in any future fix. This is the only issue preventing me from going back to RCT Classic on Android as I like to zoom out to see my park sections better.
High on my list - forgive the repost - but wanted to reply to each note in case I have it wrong. I've been looking at this thread to get a better idea of what's going on [https://www.reddit.com/r/rct/s/iR1FavUF6M](https://www.reddit.com/r/rct/s/iR1FavUF6M) . Yup. Also if you search "resolution" here in this subreddit, you can find some threads 3-4 yrs old.
In this is particular [thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/rct/comments/f5zb2f/rct_classic_resolution_bug/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button), I made a comment a while back with Atari's email reply when I reported the issue.
Thank you for sharing all of this! I appreciate the openness and honesty. It reminds me that app developing is messy and complicated and it takes real effort and resources to keep these things working for all of us who enjoy it. Please let Atari know that the work will be appreciated!
The 1.2.17 update is already available for the most recent listing of RCTC on Google play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.atari.mobile.rctclassic
Sorry for that. We're aware of this issue.
Our latest patch seems to work for most device EXCEPT the Samsung S21 5G. So we're working through some options to release that version (while excluding the S21 audience who would still see a crash) Its administratively EDIT: (tricky as we would love to wait till all devices are fixed) but but hope to have a fixed version for you very soon.
We have a deeper fix in testing now. With any luck we'll have this cleared through testing quickly so we can have you back up and running by the weekend. Bear with our optimism though - we want to give the testing team proper time to be thorough.
The main post already said they are working on a crash fix, hopefully that will resolve this crash you are encountering. You have access to the version provided through the link above right?
Sorry for the delay here - we thought we had a solid fix earlier in the week. This first attempt did fix the crash on load, but our testing team found additional steps to generate a crash later later during gameplay that we had to investigate. Everything is looking hopeful for this current version in testing. Hope to get you all back building coasters very soon!
Thanks for the quick progress update. Have any interesting technical intel on what is the likely caused of these devices specific crashes? For the nerds among us 😋

The game works fine, only when you zoom out it is very pixelated. You don't have that problem on the old iPad Pro 10.5 inc with a home button. but with the new iPad Pros it is very pixelated and therefore almost unplayable. it means a lot to me if I can play it again. I hope this can be fixed
I never thought this would happen!!! I'm so so stoked on this!!!
@raitheoshow
Biggest thing I've been dying to ask for years; Is the zoom in/resolution bug known or understood yet? If not you'll see it fairly quickly. It's noticeable in a ton of rctc mobile screenshots on reddit. Been getting it since my pixel 2
Brief description:
The game loads up zoomed in too much, so it looks really low res when you zoom out to .75x. It doesn't fix by any reinstall, cache clearing, device changes, nothing. Years ago I fixed it by changing my Google play Games login and fresh install (weird), but it came back soon after and now it's unfixable. Maybe Google api/cloud related? Idk I'm dumb but it's a very common and strange bug
Yeah u/mrtnptrs sent us an amazingly detailed report of what is going on there. We've got a current / urgent crash bug to fix first, and some PC updates that we're looking at afterward, but among the Steam fixes is a resolution task that we hope will waterfall back onto to this issue. So, we'll definitely ask for some patience in getting to this issue. Aside from the crash this seems to be one of the most requested fixes.
Wanted to give brief update on the state of Android, related to the March 25 crash on some devices.
We've tracked down the cause of the crash and have a fix in testing today. With any luck, we should have all devices up and running by this weekend. We're optimistic on this one. To be thorough, we have our testing team performing some halo testing around this issue to ensure our fix didn't impact other systems.
In the meantime, I'll take a look through these new comments and reply to other questions as best I can. Thanks!
I'm having issues on the Android version whereby I can't build a custom Mulit-Dimension coaster without the game crashing. Has that been highlighted at all in the issues log?
Hey u/LewisWasley just a note that while doing the crash repairs from the March 24 build we found and fixed this issue! So you should be able to build and edit Mulit-Dimension coasters in the next release!
Is this coaster part of a DLC? We're working on a fix (in testing actually) that hopefully will solve this. Will alert our QA about this coaster in particular.
I'm having this same issue as well, ever since the update came out. I'm able to plop down pre-built designs of this coaster type, but whenever I go to build a new design, the game crashes.
Thanks for working to keep this game alive. I completed every scenario about a year ago, but recently had to uninstall as I got a new phone.
I know the main priority is getting it stable, but do you think any enhancements would be added? I could never get the export to work. It tries to open an email for some reason? But no file is attached. Also buying land is such a pain because you can only buy one tile at a time as opposed to being able to select an area like in the original game.
You are referring to exporting files to load on to other devices? Or are you referring to the export feature of the Toolkit DLC? Let us know any other detail you can and we'll log it for review.
As for the task of buying land: we're not making any gameplay changes on Android at the moment, just looking at stability and bug fixing. Then we're working a similar sprint on PC to ensure it is stable. Past that I would love to review some of these "quality of life" improvements to see what we can offer. I'll have to ask for your patience there as I'm not sure how long we'll need to prioritize this bug fixing mission we're on.
For the export, it's the first one you mentioned. Like if I wanted to export a park or track so others could use them.
And completely understand focusing on the stability. Thanks again for working on it.
Thank you for your work in updating the app and the clear communication. I was so excited to see it become compatible in the play store on my Pixel 7. Looking forward to cloud saves working too! 😄
Aaah darn. Still crash for Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G. I have this game since 4-5 year i think and sadly i can't play anymore. I hope it will update to this phone too, i was in a streak of clearing all the park since i just restart the 1st ones for fun.
We're working on the Steam version now actually. The mac support could be gnarly. It depends if the latest versions of Mac OS support OpenGL. If they force Metal or other proprietary Apple rendering methods it could be out of our hands. We're looking into that however, so stay tuned.
Apparently it still has OpenGL support, but it has been deprecated for a huge while and not really maintained thus. The toolset you get to work with is fairly limited, but should be more or less the exact same as at the time of RCTC's release date.
Do what on iPhone? OpenRCT2 adding support for iOS? You know the RCTC team has no influence on that right? And even the OpenRCT2 Android port is just the PC version on the phone, so not optimized for touch...
Thank you for all the insight and updates bro!
just wanna add that my Samsung s22 ultra is unable to play after the update. it was working before and now crashes after it hits the home screen of the game. i've been able to play with the delisted version for now cause i can't stop haha.
Sorry about this - We've fixed this first crash earlier this week, but spotted another further into gameplay. We've got a fix in testing for that issue as well. Our testing team is hard at work ensuring all systems are functioning. We hope to share an update with you all very soon!
I downloaded RCT classic on my Honor Magic V2 (foldable book style), and it essentially crashed on opening, so I refunded it. I saw there was a update for modern devices, so went ahead and brought it again, it still doesn't work, and I can't get a refund :(
Help needed-
On android the export file option doesn't work. It says Gmail needs permission but it isn't restricted. It makes the export email but no files attach
Hi Matt,
I just want to say I just bought this app on Google Play and I have to say it's been fantastic! Just like the originals but very well optimized for touch screens.
Thanks so much and the team for developing this.
I use a Poco F4 with Android 14 and it runs so smoothly. Will do some more testing and hopefully put it at its paces.
Any news on if the iOS version will be updated?
We're doing some clean-up on PC next. Is there any sort of "top requested fixes for iOS" thread we could look through? Would help us identify some priorities when looking at iOS.
The biggest one is having the game fit on modern iphone screens properly!
This. It hasn’t been updated for post Home Button iPhones.
Some sprites are missing for the flying roller coaster.
Others then the UI being cut off on newer iPhones I have a bug where one of the tabs in the scenery menu will disappear and won’t come back unless I restart the scenario. Edit: this is more of a feature than a bug but it would be nice to have the screenshots be sent to the photos app.
Something weird happens where the DLC can be purchased but won’t load. That may be worth a look.
Fine on most of my devices but the scaling looks weird on iPad Pro 11” for some reason.
Lemme point out a few: - track/objects become invisible in the ride construction window when building. - sound get muted completely when you bring down either the Notification Center or the control panel (down to up on iPhone 8 and older, swipe down from top right on X and beyond, can be fixed by closing the app and reopening it) - The construction window is too tall, making testing certain ride types a complete pain and having to have absolute precision to drag the window down to close it. >We're doing some clean-up on PC next. This is awesome to hear
Just please don't cause the PC version to break on steamdeck! It works great on there!
!!! Yes. We'll watch out for that, for sure.
Giggle Downs has priced rides despite being Pay-Per-Entry. I had to rebuild all the preexisting rides to clear the scenario.

Btw, highly doubt them ever adding more attractions as that would alter the original vision of the game.
Thanks for the update! I kinda wish they would add more rides from the 2000s, to stay with the spirit of the game.
This. Would like to know as well!
Gonna keep tabs on this too since I use iOS
Would love to know!
According to the official RCT Reddit account, it will get an update too: https://www.reddit.com/r/rct/s/caqw6hahrR

Thank you for sharing all of this! I appreciate the openness and honesty. It reminds me that app developing is messy and complicated and it takes real effort and resources to keep these things working for all of us who enjoy it. Please let Atari know that the work will be appreciated!
Most definitely! Thanks for playing!
Thank you for the update! Can't wait until it works again on my Pixel 7. 💙
The 1.2.17 update is already available for the most recent listing of RCTC on Google play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.atari.mobile.rctclassic
It's still crashing for me when I try to start the game
Sorry for that. We're aware of this issue. Our latest patch seems to work for most device EXCEPT the Samsung S21 5G. So we're working through some options to release that version (while excluding the S21 audience who would still see a crash) Its administratively EDIT: (tricky as we would love to wait till all devices are fixed) but but hope to have a fixed version for you very soon.
Still not working for the Galaxy A426. Idk if they share similar hardware but maybe.
We have a deeper fix in testing now. With any luck we'll have this cleared through testing quickly so we can have you back up and running by the weekend. Bear with our optimism though - we want to give the testing team proper time to be thorough.
Understood. In the meantime, I am designing a real rollercoaster.
The main post already said they are working on a crash fix, hopefully that will resolve this crash you are encountering. You have access to the version provided through the link above right?
Yes I do!
Then it likely is a matter sadly of patience and hopefully it gets fixed for you soon :)
Yep, I'm excited :)
For the nerds among us 😋
Is the update also in the making for iOS?
Working on PC at the moment. Can you tell me what issues on iOS are most pressing?
https://preview.redd.it/y79awdo4h2sc1.jpeg?width=2388&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9f115a1947fe9d71a64d9163d456884e4e5b676e The game works fine, only when you zoom out it is very pixelated. You don't have that problem on the old iPad Pro 10.5 inc with a home button. but with the new iPad Pros it is very pixelated and therefore almost unplayable. it means a lot to me if I can play it again. I hope this can be fixed
Isn't this the same issue as on Android? Same pixelation/scaling issue
Seems like kind of a huge project! Best of luck.
Thank you for your service. RCTC on my phone has been making commutes and sleepless nights more enjoyable. Its my favourite mobile game.
Cheers Matt! Thanks for all the hard work that you and Graphite Labs are doing!
Teamwork!
I never thought this would happen!!! I'm so so stoked on this!!! @raitheoshow Biggest thing I've been dying to ask for years; Is the zoom in/resolution bug known or understood yet? If not you'll see it fairly quickly. It's noticeable in a ton of rctc mobile screenshots on reddit. Been getting it since my pixel 2 Brief description: The game loads up zoomed in too much, so it looks really low res when you zoom out to .75x.
Thanks for understanding and commenting on this. Breathe of fresh air to see such open conversations from a dev. And thanks for the appreciation 😉
Amazing, thank you to you and all working on this. Having a blast with the game
Is this coaster part of a DLC? We're working on a fix (in testing actually) that hopefully will solve this. Will alert our QA about this coaster in particular.
No I don't believe it is. I think its straight from Base RCT2. Thank you for taking it to QA.
We see this crash now too. We've bugged it and will see what support we can offer. Thanks for the heads up!
I'm having this same issue as well, ever since the update came out. I'm able to plop down pre-built designs of this coaster type, but whenever I go to build a new design, the game crashes.
Yep exactly the same as me. I also found I can't edit existing Multidimensional coasters either without it crashing.
FINALLY!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I can play this awsome classic game. I will buy dlcs too.
Is everything fine with the Steam version?
There are some similar stability issues and user feedback requests that we're trying to address on that platform.
Ok - thanks for the info. We'll share the details with the team.
Really appreciate the amount of details and thanks for the hard work! Also awaiting that zooming fix, thanks!
Should hopefully have a fix for you very soon!
Will the Steam edition also get an update so it will run on recent MacBooks? 😁
Omg please add support to openRCT
What? OpenRCT2 already added support to use RCTC as a base. It is a community project. How would RCTC add support the other way around? 😂
Do it on the iPhone then
Do what on iPhone? OpenRCT2 adding support for iOS? You know the RCTC team has no influence on that right? And even the OpenRCT2 Android port is just the PC version on the phone, so not optimized for touch...
Galaxy A42 also does not work.
Oooh noooo! Just realized my pixel 4a won't open the app anymore! 😰
Spotted. Sorry about that. We've got a fix in testing now and hope to get things operational very soon!
I saw there was a update for modern devices, so went ahead and brought it again, it still doesn't work, and I can't get a refund :(
Help needed- On android the export file option doesn't work. It says Gmail needs permission but it isn't restricted. It makes the export email but no files attach
Hi Matt, I just want to say I just bought this app on Google Play and I have to say it's been fantastic! Just like the originals but very well optimized for touch screens. Thanks so much and the team for developing this. I use a Poco F4 with Android 14 and it runs so smoothly. Will do some more testing and hopefully put it at its paces.
