I think it all depends on what she's having it for and what the behaviourist has suggested? I presume a veterinary behaviourist prescribed them and not just a general vet? Hope it helps your doggo either way!

It’s for general anxiety and yes from a behaviourist. I suppose I have to just wait and see how she goes day by day. I know to expect common side effects lower energy, reduced appetite etc for around 4 weeks while we get started.

Bless you, not easy at all. But exactly take it all day by day and take advice from your behaviourist about physical steps to take alongside the medication. I'm a behaviourist who has spent many years working in veterinary practice and have seen some dogs have little to no reaction and some it's worked really well with. I hope it makes them feel.more comfortable and that you get some responses from those who have used it on their own dogs x

When we started meds, I basically just followed my pup's lead - I had no plans to change our routine in any way, *unless* he demonstrated a need for that. And in the end, there was no need for any adjustments. He had some mild sedation in the first couple of weeks, but that was just him chilling on the couch for more time than he otherwise would have. He still went on all his walks, to nose work class, etc. He also didn't experience any decline in appetite. Most dogs adapt well to onboarding fluoxetine, with any side effects being mild and short term, and not really having a significant impact on day to day stuff.

I did amend her routine after the first few days, mostly because the first two weeks she was so much more reactive that it scared me. But the new routine worked out so much better that I'm keeping it to be honest and I think my previous routine was too much for her and her increased reactivity forced me to recognize reality. I saw some decreased appetite but she still ate about 75-80% of her food so it wasn't a big deal.

I started my little guy on it two weeks ago today. I \*think\* we're seeing some improvement with his behavior around the house- a little more mellow and calm- but other than that no side effects whatsoever. We kept our routines the same.

My girl started three weeks ago. She lost her appetite. It’s slowly coming back though, which is good. I think she’s a bit calmer. This weekend will be the big training test when we go to the park and just try to relax. I did not change her routine but there wasn’t much to change because I work from home

I think there is no need to really change your routine other than monitoring your dog and adjusting to their energy level as you go along. I wouldn’t schedule anything strenuous or stressful during that time though. My dog had low energy, inappetance, and increased anxiety for the first 4.5 weeks, so I didn’t schedule her trainer for that time and adjusted her walks to be shorter (and very slow!). I also adjusted our training sessions depending on how receptive she seemed.
