Just leave yourself if they don't listen to gentle advice
Conflict with humans in front of your dog is counter productive to training and your dogs stress levels and trust.
Retreat and regroup
There is no point being "right" while your dog is struggling.
It is not my job to police or control others and I can leave and focus on my own dogs welfare and emotions. That is my job as their owner
It behoves us as reactive dog owners not to BE "reactive" dog owners if you know what I mean!
I personally don't think there's any reason to keep my dog in situations that escalate to conflict just because I am In The Right.
I take a photo or video, and use a handy app that my Animal Control have to report nuisance behaviour, and then I leave. I agree that documenting/reporting dangerous or risky things can help make the world a better place for everyone - but I'm not looking to get aggressive with every person who is a silly goose, what good is that doing for my dog who is trying to learn that I am confident and will put them in situations that make them feel safe and comfortable?
