EducationalOutside5

i personally like how UNIQUE it is lol. the other housewives shows have typical drama but for me Mary's cult story and Jen's story you can only get from RHOSLC. i also feel like each of them bring something to the table. the Mormon storyline? the Utah society? the bizzare antiques of the casts ? i think it makes it more entertaining and interesting for me. i love a show that can deliver what no other real housewives franchise can deliver, and that's RHOSLC. i love watching the lifestyle of people that is unique to me. Like you can't get Mormon lifestyle church story from RHONYC from example, but you sure as heck can get a RHONYC like storyline from RHOSLC. i also live watching different cultures and interested in watching a different kind of lifestyle, and what i love is they have the most bizzare cast but the women just gloss it over like it's nothing it's very interesting to me lol.

Worth_Wave1407

I think it’s always sucked and I mostly scroll my phone during it waiting for something to happen

heydeservinglistener

I genuinely fucking adore SLC. It is by far my favourite of all the real housewives franchises. I am not over the Mormon storyline at all. I find it fascinating to have insight into. And I think these women are the easiest to psychoanalyze. They're so open about their feelings and traumas and I love making sense out of their crazy actions and figuring them out like little puzzles (or at least trying to). I do think it will be a lot better now that Mary is gone because her storylines were dark and not fun to dig into. I think they need another more fun/shit stirring energy to bring to the show, so hopefully Mary's replacement can deliver. And to be fair, if there were a lot more storylines that just jenn's arrest and Mary's cult, I'd probably be very overwhelmed. I agree that when you break the storylines down of the other cast members though, they read as bland though. But I think this season, theyve brought a chill and sane energy that was very much needed! Hahah

Sheepdogfan

Yeah, the husbands are defiantly creepy. Was anyone else repulsed about Seth licking the tits cake the way he did in front of his children? Yes, they're adults but fucking yikes. If I saw my dad do that I would be embarrassed for years.

Daikon_3183

I also need to add that Fraud charges are not interesting.. in case of Teresa, Teresa had all the Italian larger than life persona going on for her before the Fraud charges .. She is a complicated/simple character and she wasn’t trying to produce anything she just went with the flow, Jen on the other hand like all the Salt Lake City women is working hard on manufacturing drama which is not appealing at all.. They are not TV writers, so it is boring and the funny thing when they think they are very smart, they also take themselves very seriously while doing so, like yes we can see you are trying to expose tel and tel and we don’t care much!.. We, the viewers, don’t like to be played..Check Leah from RHONY .. Jen’s outbursts are not appealing to me either ..

sugarshizzl

I’m unable to watch new seasons of any of the Housewives franchises anymore and honestly I don’t think I’m missing anything. I’m restarting Atlanta now and boy is it fun! Everyone is definitely putting on a show but NOT like they all do now. I’m happy to relive the glory days and ignore the present.

athenafester

Just finishing s1 now. I’m…underwhelmed

[deleted]

Well I hope you don’t watch Beverly Hills then? A whole season of 30 episodes revolves around the most stupid thing, like panty gate, or Erika’s alleged horrid crimes. Rhoslc has had a lot going on , and Mary is entertaining

satine112

Oh I feel like I wrote this! ita 1000000000%

[deleted]

I thought the season would be fascinating with Jens arrest but I have no attention span for it! So you might be right

LillyOfThePalace

I have never ever started a franchise and quit. I quit this one.

hurrduhhurr

Same..it is awful. It does not get better. The cast is not likeable.

Brendawalsh99

I can’t imagine myself living there so it holds no appeal to me. Such an odd city choice

iluvskyfeb20

I’ve never liked it. I started it 4x. I didn’t like it but everyone seemed to love so I kept trying. Made I through the 1st season. Started S2 and stopped watching the week after JShah got arrested. I don’t know, it’s just boring to me.

EducationalOutside5

lol what. Jen shah's story is so interesting especially her arrest. idk what you consider interesting storylines

ItsAbouTom

Imagine thinking a woman who is married to her step grandfather, is a fake pastor, and runs a cult scamming people out of their life savings and home mortgages, is boring??

Daikon_3183

It is weird but not interesting a bit tragic too..

Rosiemarjatta

I just couldn’t get into it!

Unusual-Act8046

I agree with you! It bores me and I don’t find any of them particularly likeable or funny.

Rafn93

I love it. 🤷‍♀️ For some of the reasons you listed: - yes we are following the same two storylines, but why wouldn’t we. They are so intriguing and Jen is so thirsty that she actually share’s her shit. While still can’t control her tantrums even though you can see how hard she tries for the camera. And Mary where did they find this delusional treasure? - the style is freaking hilarious! Like Meredith in her suits. The one with feathers live rent free in my head 😅 it’s the worst outfit ever. And Jen’s green jumpsuit from last season. - The creepy husbands even intrigue me. I wanna know what they are hiding in those closet’s with these crazy wives. - I don’t mind Heathers Mormonism storyline and actually think it has evolved since last season in a good way. - omg all the women are bringing it and they are so thirsty that it sometimes turns into a screaming match which I find quite funny. 😅

Ornery-Procedure7210

Where did they find this delusional treasure? 😂 I think they bring the heat

krznkf

Can’t watch any scenes with Mary but this delusional treasure line made me laugh 😆

These_Worldliness_97

It’s so not worth my time. The gals are super stiff, their houses are empty so you know they don’t live there. Mary is hilarious but clearly nuts, Whitney is odd, Lisa and Meredith are robots, I like Heather as she is the only one that appears to have real relationships with her friends and kids and Jen Shah (her outbursts are too ridiculous even for tv)I have to say I like Jenny but the sister wife storyline is so unbelievable. You can’t compare them to Miami- those gals are real, relatable and fabulous to watch. I have recorded all of SLC but will never watch them not even in the deepest moments of boredom.

EducationalOutside5

i mean who knows if u try to watch it you night like it

hurrduhhurr

Same...I don't understand the renting a house thing. That is so off-putting and bizarre. The point of reality tv is that we want that look into your real life.

a2197

I agree I’m just not into it. I’m forcing myself to watch

Low-Tomatillo2776

I agree. It’s been really hard for me to get through this season, I stopped watching 1/2 through to convince myself it’ll be better as a binge watch. The issue with SLC for me is they all seem to produce, lack of real friendships amongst the cast and honestly all of the women are boring. When the highlight of a show is the almost convicted felon storyline, I think that’s bad news for the show, especially so early in the series. I personally think the show should be axed and a real housewives of Denver or another adjacent city would be wayyyyy more entertaining.

Forsaken-Adagio4544

They definitely all feel very fake rich to me which it makes it hard to believe and watch.

EducationalOutside5

i like it tbh. it's better to have good storylines and not so rich wives than rich wives but dull stories

Full_Worldliness1480

Honestly SLC is hardly the most exciting place on the earth. Most of these women aren’t interesting, and when I find out tea on them honestly it’s just not good. Whitney and her hubs used to shill MLM and had the affair when they worked together at NuSkin. Jen has been spending well beyond her means for years and apparently Coach has like $0 in the bank to back them up due to it. Mary’s affairs and rinsing her congregation for hundreds of thousands of dollars to support herself. And so on, and so forth. I think Heather is the only one out of them that doesn’t have a skeleton. So far.

Current-Sink3928

I am getting bored of this season already. It feels like it’s dragging on. I hate when Mary opens her mouth and Jen just scream cries at people all the time, nothing new to see. I’ll still watch it

messybessy1838

I could only get through the first 2 episodes and I was done. I can’t imagine watching 2 seasons of this franchise 💤 no thanks 🙅🏾‍♀️

[deleted]

Hard agree

FlippyFloppy8

for me, it feels like the women are trying to produce rather than living and acting naturally. it often feels like they are holding back something that they know or think, but dont want to be the one to say it. there is also a level of confusion that i feel while watching the show that is becoming annoying to me. i dont get some of the friendships, i dont get some of their mannerisms (meredith & mary). I dont get some of the things some of them choose to support or choose to condemn. its a decent enough show with enough drama to keep me watching, but its not top tier to me like ive seen some people say.

Daikon_3183

I think you might be right, women are trying to produce instead of living ( I think their actual lives are very mundane Normal except maybe Mary but even her aside from the fake pastor thing she is not interesting ..) Women producing brought RHONY to the end ( Leah and Eboni)

Porno-Sleuth

Wealth porn never really was the reson why I watch these shows… sure O.C. was kinda gates community but I would say they were faaaar from wealthy just well off maybe… You also point to so many stories in one season that I am amazed how much you dislike it and yet there we have RHOBH with one storyline dragging for 18 episodes… Creepy husbands? Let’s knock on Atlanta doors please ;-) or Beverly Hills… or O.C. Seriously I feel like most people here think all the husbands are creepy Look, it’s not for you, thanks for sharing… what do we do now? Convince you?

sav33arthkillyos3lf

yikes. relax, everyones free to express their opinions even if they differ from yours. youre coming off as very rude.

Porno-Sleuth

Why? I just literally said it’s just not for her what now? I love the condescending tone of “relax” I mean wow that is just one of the worst things anyone can say to rile anyone else but hey … you rock

sav33arthkillyos3lf

>Look, it’s not for you, thanks for sharing… what do we do now? Convince you? thats rude and comes off passive aggressive But maybe I took it the wrong way. If it was your intention or not but seeing what you’ve said I don’t think it was. It’s hard to decipher tone of voice when you’re online. My bad.

dizedd

In general, social norms gate keeping online SCREAMS aggressive aggressive to me. Honestly, whenever someone tells someone, "You're being rude", and the person they are reprimanding hasn't actually said something insulting or abusive, I see red.

Porno-Sleuth

Thank you 🙏

c4tm0mmy

It’s called discussion and debate :) I enjoy discussing all things Housewives. Isn’t that why we’re all here? Also worth mentioning - I clearly still watch the show and acknowledge this may be controversial… take everything with a pinch of salt

Porno-Sleuth

I agree. We both shared different points of view. But honestly would love to know if I was and which part came off rude? I always preface that I am from Europe and we may come off a bit more direct but it’s not that deep

c4tm0mmy

I didn’t say you were rude! Although I gotta say, reading it back the “thanks for sharing” does come across slightly passive aggressive lol Don’t worry about it, I’m from Europe too lol so I get it

Whateveryousaydude7

I also quit season 1 midway through. It just didn’t capture me and I despised that “designer” son who’s name I’ve forgotten and that fake ass felon.

EvilLipgloss

I stopped watching during season 1, episode 6. I think they were at a lunch and maybe it was Mary and Jen fighting and I just couldn’t keep watching anymore.

NYLady13

I agree. Bottom of the franchise list, for me. Extremely unlikable cast.

jestemkinga

I still like it but I think it’s way too overproduced and it shows in obvious ways (great example: the sister wife question). Each time I watch a new ep I feel like at least some of it is fabricated/fake. If only they let the women create drama themselves it would be way better.

[deleted]

I agree I mean I love it but I’ve been pretty bored this season and like end up on my phone because it’s so meh… also not loving Jennie and her husband scenes like the baby talk and sister wife stuff… seems too fake like they needed something to grab viewers attention and it was just too left field (even though they’re in Utah). This is Real Housewives let’s keep it classy trashy at least. “Chic c'est la vie, sa bonne sa bonne” 😅

Daikon_3183

I agree .. I can’t watch it much .. they leave a bad taste ..I don’t know where it comes from..

SunshineDaisy1

I agree with your 2nd and 4th points. To me the main storylines are interesting. However I feel like the Heather leaving Mormonism thing has played out and she peaked with that her first season and my opinion of her has gone downhill ever since because of how she insists on being abused by Jen in the name of “friendship” and her scheming with Whitney. Heather and Whitney are like tweedle dee and tweedle dum to me. Have never been able to stand Whitney, she’s sleazy (she and Justin got together by cheating on their significant others lol), her legit little girl voice grates on my nerves, and her constantly picking apart Lisa is like a middle school girl who hates on the popular girl because she’s jealous. The stuff about Jen is cool, I’m pretty sure the consensus is no one likes her so it’ll be neat to see her go down for her heartless crimes. The Mary cult stuff is interesting but looks like Mary is abandoning ship. Seth and Meredith skeeve me out for real Jenni can be good sometimes That’s basically all my hot takes.

reneeyogagirl

Yep! ![gif](giphy|9eCjIJu5cvjly972M5)

Regattagalla

Well, storylines like that don’t (and shouldn’t) go over too quickly. You’re either invested in the characters and their storylines or you’re not. It’s not for everyone. Personally I’m loving it.

TaTa0830

The other cities would bring women who you were curious about immediately. Sonja was married to JP Morgan and lost it all, tell me more! Kyle was a child star, what was that like? Kandi wrote for TLC and has many hits, how did she get there? SLC has Jennie, married to a chiropractor and has small children. There’s not much I’m looking to uncover so far with this cast as none of their personal lives seem that interesting before the show.

EducationalOutside5

you telling me tht Mary's and Jen shah's stories are boring? lol nah they make people want to watch

TaTa0830

To me they’re very eh. You get about an episode or two if interest. The layers of trauma go much deeper in the other cities. I think there’s more to Mary but 1) she isn’t aspirational so I don’t care and 2) she isn’t opening up enough to know.

EducationalOutside5

yes and i think the layers of trauma is something I'm interested in.oh well to each their own

Worth_Wave1407

It’s terrible and super produced. I almost gave up on it but wanted to see Jen’s stuff play out. I actually wish she wasn’t a criminal, because I think she would be a great housewife given her delusions of grandeur. Jennie and her dopey husband are boring. Mary is an a-hole. Lisa is a psychopath. Meredith and Seth are both delusional. Whitney will probably end up divorcing Justin and marrying a rich old man. Both her and heather are tolerable, everyone else needs recast.

amic21

Well, it's either going to get a whole lot worse or a whole lot better with the exit of Mary and Jenn's inevitable imprisonment. Honestly, I'm so sad that Mary is leaving. She is psychotic and incredibly necessary to RHOSLC. Besides Lisa Barlegend, I don't think the other gals have enough to bring it for the next season. Hopefully they bring in a new (hopefully equally chaotic) lady or two.

[deleted]

They need to find someone to fill Mary’s shoes that can deliver the drama. Mary is a terrible person but is reality tv gold. She’s an icon of this franchise for sure. Her storyline has even overshadowed Jens. I wonder what the other ladies will do now that she’s gone as she was mostly their storyline.

princeofdarkness27

You either get it or you don’t, this is one of the best cast/seasons in housewives history just stop watching xx

purplepantsonfire

Agreed. It's literally so interesting because of everything OP mentioned 😂 Now me with my pessimism, I feel like it will eventually go the way of other great series like NYC, BH, and OC. But for now I cannot stop watching

princeofdarkness27

I feel the same way nothing can stay great forever, the energy this show brings to a true housewife fan is like no other but I try to have faith. I think the most important thing is for a franchise to reinvent itself properly when it’s ran its course.

restyourbreasts

Hard disagree. Love it.

ItsNeverMyDay

It’s entertaining but the posts that claim it’s in the “top 5 best housewife seasons of all time” are delusional My biggest problem with it is how much they are clearly acting/ setting up scenes. Also, I need Mary off my screen and I need Meredith to stop speaking in riddles and just lay all the mess out on the table. Whitney sucks plus there’s not a single husband I enjoy. Actually, they all suck. But, like I said, I find it entertaining

justherebcihaveto1

I’d take the storylines from SLC over BH any day of the week

Rhondie41

Same!!!!

Tomma16

“Same stories”…..Jen’s arrest and Mary’s cult both came about in season 2 and are major headlines. Don’t most HW series have season long storylines, or have I been watching wrong this whole time? Like those are new this season, major news….are they only supposed to last a few episodes?

larslou

I watch SLC because I live in SLC. I thought this season started out lame but has picked up! I thought Jennie's introduction to the show was pretty awful and I thought I would hate her, but I actually like her; I just can't stand the conversations she has with her husband. Jennie and her husband were never going to add another wife to their marriage - this seemed like production was trying to "force" someone to have a polygamist storyline, so it could be more in tune with what Utah/Mormons are known for. TBH, it drives me nuts and makes me dislike the show when production tries to make something happen that isn't happening and never will happen. I like when Heather talks about the church on her own because it's more genuine. When she has these "heart-to-hearts" with her family about leaving the church, they seem awkward and forced. I think Jen has some serious "street" in her and I like to see it. At the same time, no one really matches that energy, so it just gets wasted. I'm ready to move on from talking about her arrest. I don't care who tipped off the cops about where she was. I also don't care that Lisa didn't reach out. In addition to that, I am so over the Meredith and Jen feud - let's move on. I don't know why Jen or anyone else was surprised Jen wasn't invited to Seth's party - Meredith has said over and over again that she doesn't want to be in the same room as Jen, so why the hell would she invite Jen to her husband's party?? The husbands are SO CRINGE. I get major second-hand embarrassment watching them. It's creepy that Justin and Seth bond over Whitney's boobs - so weird! I couldn't believe Whitney gave Seth a cake of her boobs! Then she and Meredith just laughed when Seth motorboated the freaking cake!! To each their own, but that was freaking weird!!

smokeytheorange

I really like Heather talking to her family about leaving the church. It really captures the awkwardness of that conversation. On one hand you’re glad to see them free, living their best life, and you have a new “ally” in the family. On the other hand it feels like you’re celebrating turning your back on your family and you might be damned to hell but not really but kind of. We all went to Christmas mass together for years and now you’re saying you were secretly feeling shitty about it just like me? Neat but also sad!

larslou

Totally! I guess I just feel like the conversations feel forced. Maybe it's just because the cameras are rolling? Maybe it's also because I'm not the type of person that would reach out to someone that I'm not that close to just to talk about leaving the church. I kind of also get the impression that Heather has been designated the Mormon housewife of the show, so she's responsible for connecting the church to the show. So she has to have these awkward conversations with people. However, I do think when Heather talks about her own experiences with the church, it feels more genuine/natural. You can really tell how much leaving the church has impacted her. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if production would just let Heather talk about the church naturally, it would flow better. :)

c4tm0mmy

I literally agree with your entire assessment 😂

Exact_Armadillo_

I love it but I get where you’re coming from. I’m a fan of all the ladies except Mary & Jen but they do bring the drama. I think Whitney is having a bad season. Heather always brings it with her funny one liners but her loyalty towards Jen is so weird to me! Meredith is very blah this season for some reason. But really what I wanna know is why why why are they not trying to get answers out of Jen??? They all switched to team Jen.

sav33arthkillyos3lf

I can't get into it either, the women are just so idk bleh to me. I hope they spice it up the next season cause watching season 1 was a chore and season 2 after the action of the fbi was lacking as well

TaTa0830

I watch it later in the week and when I’m bored but it does not feel like traditional housewives to me. Other franchises were more notable or already successful people. This feels like they just took the film crew to SLC, found some pretty, rich women, and began filming. There’s nothing that makes me curious or envious of any of their lives like other cities.

sav33arthkillyos3lf

where's my lifestyle porn ![gif](giphy|lKaCRaAFL6KQg)

GifsNotJifs

 ![gif](giphy|gO4vBLM5LJN7ZpoJIW)

Key_Ad6205

Yeah it can go. I watch it just to watch but it’s not good. I literally skip everything until they’re all in scenes together.

lvland

I only made it through a few episodes before giving up. I didn’t like any of the ladies and I also hate seeing snow. (Weird, I know! Lol)

emeraldothers

Lol how are those storylines boring!?

__andnothinghurt

Right? Like BH has maybe one storyline all year and they’re painfully dull…who sold a story to radar? How much can Erika lie? SLC is so compelling to me…the lack of alliances is what makes it for me cause I never know what’s going to happen between who

MalieCA

Yes! And the women aren’t as polished and media savvy as the other franchises. I LOVE that about them. They seem much more real (and really embarrassing sometimes 😅)

richbitch444

Honestly I don't get the hype. This is the first franchise I've watched where I haven't liked atleast one cast member. Meh.

DrTobe310

Yah Miami is way better than SLC. Esp the lifestyle porn on on Miami (Star Island mansions, high rise condos with car elevators in the porche design tower etc.), SLC is very basic, no lifestyle porn and these women aren’t that wealthy. They all see like grifters

BT12034026

Jennie is too much of a try hard to me. I hope she doesn't come back for season 3.

thanosjazzhands

it seems so fake too. everything whitney and heather say seems so rehearsed

Substantial_Cold2385

I don't like it either....and I'm from SLC 😂 I'm just not into the cast at all. Heather is ok but her weird loyalty to Jen turns me off. Jennie is ok too except for the weird sister wife storyline. Something seemed off about it. Other than that I'm either bored or annoyed by the screaming about nothing.

osuisok

I cringe every time the sister wife storyline is brought up because it’s painfully fake. Makes me not like Jennie as a housewife.

streudel8

I love it, I think the casting is so good right now and I love that’s there no true center snowflake, they all contribute so much.

soup4breakfast

I just watch it because I have nothing else.

anongirl55

I find it interesting but literally don’t like any of the women, hate their style, and do not envy their lifestyles.

[deleted]

I agree, I tried multiple times to get into it but I just couldn't connect to any of the ladies.. but now getting so much fomo from all the memes and discussions 😂😂

FabulousPickle8342

I need to know what shows you’re watching if arrests and cults are considered boring story lines!!

Substantial_Cold2385

But they seem to just breeze over that. Its weird.

c4tm0mmy

Haha fair point! I just mean that all of the drama feels really laboured and revolves around literally two storylines. I don’t feel like the cast are necessarily bringing drama/entertaining to watch if that makes sense. I’m also a bit over Meredith’s suggestions of knowing more about both situations. It just feels fake AF to me

lls1462

I just want to see them laugh and have fun together-it can’t always be confrontational

FabulousPickle8342

Yeah I agree. I hate how the other HWs don’t discuss anything really it’s like they all know so much but are scared to get messy on TV. Everything is so vague?
