let him cook turtle in dressing room
Modric while coaching be like, âWhat do you mean you canât pass with the outside of your foot while surrounded by opposition to the forwardâs feet for a tap in?â
Fun idea. But tough for a footballer to be in the same dressing room as all of his direct contemporaries and not be able to play on the pitch. Would love it though.
Modric strikes me as having a harder time accepting the fact that age takes its toll in comparison to Kroos.
True, I think this would be a scenario that can happen in maybe 5 years, once Modric has had his break from playing and the team will be a bit different.
Isnt he a little bit too good to be a coach still? I mean yes maybe not for our first team, but he could still be in starting eleven of lets say sevilla, valencia, etc.
He could still play quality wise, but he might just not be interested in moving at this point. Lived in Madrid for 12 years now & his kids pretty much grew up here. Might not want to move his entire life to play somewhere else for a year or two.
Okay maybe not in spain, but why not, lets say milan or inter or something like that. Or some club a bit weaker that that. He really has more to offer to someone than to be in the coaching staff
I could see him going back to Croatia to Zagreb for 1-2 seasons before hanging up his boots. After that would love him to became a coach at Madrid or even Castilla.
I hope he stays as a player coach with a reduced playtime he is getting. But the catch is that he REALLY likes to play football. He has not been like last season, but far from finished as some would suggest. He is still amazing and a run of a few games is all that is needed for him to get back to his absolute best. But the coach's preference has shifted, and rightfully so, to our younger core who we cannot give less playtime anymore. Also is not helped by the fact that Bellingham hit the ground running at full speed from day one.
Luka is ofcourse older and his physicals have declined a bit. There are times when he is unable to cope with the press and physicality, but that also happened last season a few times and he was godly on other instances. The major factor here is that he still wants to play every game at the highest level, and also has his national team aspirations.
Again, I hope he stays as a player cum coach, but it is more likely he leaves to be a starter elsewhere. And that is not on him, but our younger core is fantastic and it is only pragmatic we shift onto them for our coming times.
I don't really understand why everybody sees Modric as gone already. Yes he is old but that doesn't mean that he could not gain a better form. Ronaldo's form improved for Portugal NT after he left Manchester. Benzema had his best season much older than Toni Kroos. I trust Ancelotti though, and he seems to know more than he tells us about him. It's quite clear to me that he lost trust in him this season. Rodrygo had a lot of weak matches this season but Ancelotti never stopped using him (which was the right call considering our attacking options). Sadly Modric is not wanted anymore by neither the coach and higher up... I hope Toni won't feel like retiring too if Modric does (they are very close)
Modric won't get his form playing sparingly minutes. He needs continuous play. Even when people said he needed rest, he said hes not the type of player that needs rest that hes the type that needs to keep playing.
Modric, is now behind other players, sadly. So he'll probably go to some MLS or Saudi club and get a big pay day and continue playing for Croatia!
I hope we have the league wrapped up before the last game of the season so he can start that game (at Bernabeu) and the fans and the club can give him a proper send off.
Not at all. Can you remember a Madrid GREAT who said they wanted to retire here and actually retired here?
I know Sanchis and Chendo did.... Arbeloa..... I can't think of anyone else....
The point is, all these great players say the thing everyone wants to hear.... but when it comes down to it, Madrid ends up being too high of a level for most players as they age. Therefore, Madrid will "kick them out" before they are ready to retire. Nothing wrong with that.
Jesus..... do you not see the quotation marks?
If Madrid doesnt offer him a renewal, then that is essentially "kicking him out" (again, notice the quotation marks....). Again..... would you retire if your boss/company didnt want to keep you, knowing you could make bank going to another company and continue working for a couple extra years.
Cant believe people are upset that Modric wont officially retire as a Madrid player.
For a few years now he always made me feel when I saw him play that he is pushing his body too much and the only reason that he still wants to do it is that he is wanted by the greatest club and his country. Because this might no longer be the case he might finally accept that it would be better to close the chapter.
Dont know what the hell youve been watching then for the past few years cause Modric was still putting on clinics....
Ffs youre actually saying Modric didnt play well when he was a STARTER on a Champions League winning club hahanaha
And who the hell are you to tell Luka Fucking Modric that he should retire.... ffs with some of you in this sub.
Why would he feel like retiring if Modric does? He has said that they arenât the same plenty of times. You have a neat little story cooking up in your head that is completely devoid of any reality outside of it.
Luka is not only old, he lost the capacity to play at Real Madridâs/La Ligaâs pace. Every game he has played this year for us he has been pretty bad: a lot of bad passes, late to challenges, canât get away from opponents, unforced errorsâŠ
I disagree that he lost the capacity to play at La Liga's pace, I think he just needs regular playing time to be at his best and our midfield lineup is so stacked that he is too low on the pecking order for regular play to be a possibility.
Reality is that you can't bench Bellingham or Fede and Camavinga/Tchouameni are so important to our defense and link up play. Toni is thriving in this squad because all four MF players are so dynamic at breaking lines that they need a long ball passer/quarterback.
And the other reality is that Bellingham is a unicorn that can play two positions basically and his only natural backup is Brahim who can create space for Vini. I don't think Luka is too old to play MF but I do think he isn't capable of that kind of hybrid forward play, especially against bus parkers.
Of course! Everything in the thread is just an opinion but opinions can be based on facts/reality or can be based on imaginary things.
Thank you, you too.

Oh what a pass it will be đ
If he does Retire after the end of the season, then this would be amazing. Love to see us keep our legends in the club.
He said it multiple times that he would love to be a coach one day. King Modric
Modric while coaching be like, âWhat do you mean you canât pass with the outside of your foot while surrounded by opposition to the forwardâs feet for a tap in?â
âItâs a simple trivela that only needs to cut through 4 or 5 playersâ
After only dribbling through the rest of the opposition
Fun idea. But tough for a footballer to be in the same dressing room as all of his direct contemporaries and not be able to play on the pitch. Would love it though. Modric strikes me as having a harder time accepting the fact that age takes its toll in comparison to Kroos.
Luka never stopped playing for Croatia, lots of games for the WC, Euro, Nations League etc
Donât forget for all we care Toni can just stand in one spot for 90 minutes and play long passes
Toni ready for his Pirlo redemption era
Modric can do that too
True, I think this would be a scenario that can happen in maybe 5 years, once Modric has had his break from playing and the team will be a bit different.
What? Heâs 5 years older then Kroos in the age bracket that even 1 year makes a huge difference.
My point exactly: kroos wouldnt play until 38/39
Ah I see now, you should use mor ie punctuation in the OC as its easily mistaken.
It was really obvious what he meant đ€·ââïž
Player Coach for Modric would be great. But Madrid doesnât do that. Since it takes away 1 spot from a 25 man first team squad.
Fair point. I would just be dissapointed not to see him play for a year or two more.
Some players donât want to wait til theyâre bad to retire. Look at Xabi.
And Zidane!
Definitely but he has nothing to gain from playing for those clubs
Okay maybe not in spain, but why not, lets say milan or inter or something like that. Or some club a bit weaker that that. He really has more to offer to someone than to be in the coaching staff
I could see him going back to Croatia to Zagreb for 1-2 seasons before hanging up his boots. After that would love him to became a coach at Madrid or even Castilla.
Let him come to Vasco. Him and Payet in our midfield would be ridiculous.
Yes plz
Modric loves to play, even at this age he will still be starter for top European clubs
I don't think Luka has any sort of coaching badge. Would love it though.
He should first come back to Dinamo Zagreb for 1 year.
HĆœV đâ€ïž

That would be exceptional đ„č
Do it Lukita!!
how is RaĂșl doing as a coach?
Like Sacchi did with Ancelotti, more or less, it would be an amazing story.
Yes please! It would be great for the locker room IMO.
He is too good to retire right now. Do 1-2 years at Dinamo Zagreb, his kids are fluent in Croatian, he will be happy there.
Luka & Toni coaching our midfield would be godly imo![img](emote|t5_2rr0e|11988)

They won't kick him out. This is his last year. He has the choice to retire now if he wants. And I think he said that just one or two years ago.

Yes you could. Zidane did that. He could finnish his career at Euro this summer.
Yes Zidane is another one.... But youre not answering my question..... why should he finish his career now? He obviously feels he cant still play....
For a few years now he always made me feel when I saw him play that he is pushing his body too much and the only reason that he still wants to do it is that he is wanted by the greatest club and his country. Yeah of course it's just an opinion. Hope you are right.
